there are two hospitals in abuja where u can get kidney stone treatment.
1. Chivar clinic and urology centre, which is at wuse zone 3
2. Kelina medical centre at 3rd avenue in Gwarinpa estate.

the ist hospital, has both the ESWL and endocorporeal (endoscopic) treatment of stones in the urinary system.
the 2nd hospital has the endocorporeal facility only.
the owners of both hospitals are very renowned urologists with many years of experience, so rest assured that your grand father is in good hands
note that the extracorporeal lithotripsy is a non- invasive and safe way of treating kidney stones. the number of sessions depend on the size and number of the stones.
howeve,r there are instances where the endocorporeal treatment in necessary like in ureteric stones, or stones lodged at the junction bw the ureter and the pelvis of the kidney. there are also instances where both modalities are used at the same time, for instance, after the treatment with ESWL, and some of the broken stones lodge at the pelvi-ureteric junction.  good luck

medicine is tough,  cos we deal with the very complicated human life. its not just about cram work, but having an in-depth  understanding of what u r studying cos u ll ever need to apply it. ever wondered how tasking it is to operate on a fetus, or even a neonate. or open an abdomen and correct some stuff? or open the heart, and replace a faulty heart valve with a brand new one, or even transplant a whole new heart., or correct some developmental anomalies or open the skull and operate on the brain.The list is unending.medicine has undergone a lot of evolutions and lots of innovations over thousands of years and yet the mystery of the  human body is yet unsolved. IT is only a few years old, so i dont believe that it merits being compared with medicine. Believe it or not, the scope of IT cannot be equated with the EAR-- the OTORHINOLARYNGOLOGISTS will tell u that, let alone the entire human being (not just the human body alone)
I must though admit that we r applying some IT stuff in the day to day practise of medicine. Now we talk of Telemedicine, and Robotic medicine ,  yet i dont know how many of U that will allow a robot operate on them (though its very safe).
