Culture / How Is Balding Viewed In Nigeria by gadogado(m): 2:17am On Nov 11, 2009
how is balding or male hair loss viewed in nigeria, if you had to scale it from 1 to 10. 1 being negative and 10 being positive, where would you rank it. I say this because in the US, balding is a big negative and there are so many clinics and drugs to help that "problem" would these same drugs for preventing hair loss sell in nigeria??how is balding viewed in nigeria and what are the myths and general ideas behind it

No2Atheism:

Finally someone that understand what some other black muslims seem to find difficult to comprehend . . .

Islam and Catholism are two religions that have been perfectly disguised that those in it do not even realise that they are pagans . . . worshipping idols.

its quite obvious you dont know much about islam or abrahamic religions in general, you should learn, all the black stone and stone throwing you keep insinuating are symbolic rituals not the actual act of worship, the black stone is not God/Allah. The black box was built by Abraham. You are also attempting to send political mesages by insisting that non africans are always stealing aspects of african cultures. this is not true, instead of blaming others, why not blame blacks, has it ever occured to you that blacks are not welcome anywhere in the world??blacks are actually inferior to other races, the sooner you accept this the better. blacks have lower aggregate IQ scores than other races and we are also the the least developed in terms of human development. this is coz arabs and europeans stole african brains right? all blacks claim is egypt but even egypt was not purely black,it was a very racially mixed society with pale to beige to brown being the dominant colors. they had both hamitic and semitic admixture within egypt. so i say its blacks who are incapable of technological advancement and who have severe moral corruption entrenched in their cultures that are to blame not other races, fix yourself and dont blame others for your misfortunes.if today, you can instil discipline in our cultures then we maybe can progress

i beleive so, i think sub-saharan africa lacks what they call human capital which translates to mean low IQ. Its quite obvious unless you want to engage in some denial. if you examine the situation, the areas with the smartest people are the most developed places on earth.simple.

Stop thinking everyone else has the same mentality undecided

If Yorubas used to beat you up for being annoying, it doesnt mean they havent been wearing clothes before all the long story you're posting here.

what's your connection with nuzo btw. Are you the same person.
dont reduce this thread to foolish and childish idiocy. yoruba people beat me up, well so did hausas when i was a junior student, when i became a senior, i beat yoruba kids as well as hausa kids and many others.that destroys the logic you're attempting to forment, that my "yoruba bashing" is somehow connected to my quest for retribution
Politics / Re: Come And See African Madness by gadogado(m): 10:04pm On Nov 01, 2009
@hanoobaba

yorubas did not come from egypt, what rubbish!! you guys will sink yourself in useless and false propaganda, i challenge you to furnish me with concrete evidence that yorubas came to south west nigeria and benin republic of today from egypt. yorubas dont even belong in the afro-asiatic racial group that the ancient egyptians belonged to. yorubas belong to the niger-congo family, so how you can draw any sort of connection between yorubas and ancient egyptians facsinates me! it is actually hausas that came from ancient egypt, hausas and ancient egyptians are all in the afro-asiatic phylum. take a look at this link

Politics / Re: Come And See African Madness by gadogado(m): 9:55pm On Nov 01, 2009
@tpia, doesn't matter if yoruba people have "other" traditional dresses other than the agbada, the fact simply remains that agbadas are the most famous, most worn traditional dresses as far as yoruba people go. that means that whatever clothes they had prior to the agbada were seen as being less in grandeur and less tasteful which is why the adopted the babanriga from the hausas. even those hausas and berbers got that style from arabs. africans have never really been a clothe-wearing people. theres a great deal of evidence to suggest this, from explorers to travelers who came to the african interior, they all mention the fact that africans walked around naked. yoruba people for the longest time had no concept of clothes and walked around naked. nothing to be ashamed about, its really hot in africa so clothes cannot become a necessity.

@tpia

i dont know why you love me so much, always harassing me!!!the attire gadaffi is wearing is senegalese in origin and you can find stuff like that in mali too, its the same style abacha had, and actually, it was an encounter that gadaffi had with abacha back in 1995 that prompted gadaffi's adoption of the deep-dye attire you see him wearing. his admiration for the attire and style of abacha was too much for him to contain.im sure if you research it, you'll find that this is exactly what happened!!
but if you missed my earlier point, i said berbers and hausas have many cultural similarites, actually, the kanuri people of borno state who are also called bari bari (abacha's tribe) were also referred to as berbers when they were part of the kanem empire which stretched from present day borno state in nigeria through most of chad to the fezzan desert of libya.know your history before you mount a campaign of sarcasm against me.
hausas, kanuri, berbers have alot in common and at a point, they all intermingled so well, even today,if you're very familiar with northern nigeria, then you'll see alot of white skinned berbers usually from niger who are primarily gate-men, so kanuris, berbers, tuareg people, hausas, some fulanis are very culturally and genetically intertwined!!!more so culturally tho!!

did you know that it was hausa people that introduced clothes to yoruba people, before their contact, yorubas didnt wear clothes, so the agbada is just a babanriga in yoruba style. the hausas mixed with arabs and berbers from the north which is how that style of clothing became their culture. Hausas are more advanced than yoruba people.

princekevo:

I think you should start by telling us exactly one thing he did for Nigeria or how much you shared from his looths?

1) stable naira against the dollar, through out his 5 year reign, the naira did not drop in value by even a single kobo against the US dollar

2) vision 2010, many may not know the work that committee did but it was extremely progressive but he didnt live to implement the vision 2010 report.

3) security, you hardly heard of nonsense religious riots in any part of the country let alone militancy and boko haram rubbish

4) the economy was stable, there was no hyper inflation unlike the IBB regime.
5) nigeria cannot function in a democracy, we're too corrupt we need a benovelent dictator like abacha
6) Nigeria's territorial integrity was maintained, no ceding of land to cameroun or allowing foreign bodies to dictate the pace and direction of the country. abacha was an individual and a strong leader who could not be arm twisted by greedy westerners

Aloy~Emeka:

Is IBB a polygamist?. If no, what makes you think he will like his first daughter to marry Kola who already has one wife and 3 children?.  You talk of superiority yet your men run down south to marry southern women. If it's superiority issue, then the men will not be marrying from the south. My cousin is a physician and did his housemanship in Maiduri. He came home with a christian Hausa girl and they  have 3 children now.
cheif emeka, a few points of correction for you
1) IBB is not a monogamist, the daughter in question (after her marrigage with abacha's nephew fell apart) married the zamfara state governor and she's the third or fourth wife.
2) i have never seen a hausa or fulani christian, they just dont exist and im from the north, your cousin married someone from a small tribe in the north, there are many of them there and they are treated as 2nd class citizens like katafs from southern kaduna, they speak hausa with funny accents and have their own languages. hausas are about 98% muslim

3) you can tell when a group has feelings of racial superiority by how protective they are of their women.case in point.african american men couldnt even look at white women in the 40's and 50's otherwise they'd hang them but whites had regular sex with black female slaves freely and even after slavery. example.emmett till

so i have a question for all the abacha haters on this thread, did abacha not do one single thing that was good for nigeria?? in comparison to other leaders, no stable naira, nothing
Politics / Re: How Come Northern Men Can Marry Southern Women But Never The Other Way Round by gadogado(m): 1:42am On Oct 17, 2009

well, the ones I know (my relatives) have hausa mothers. Like I said, I dont know how the marriages happened. I guess my peeps got charisma or something cheesy j/k

Also, there are Hausa Christians as well though the "disinclination" to marry southerners might be irrespective of religion- I'm not sure.

notwithstanding, there are quite a lot of northern women/southern men marriages- they dont get a lot of publicity most likely for safety reasons.

I think generally, in the north, southerners arent seen as trustworthy partners maybe. Simply guessing. Religion aside.

umm, do you not think it has something to do with the way hausa/fulani people feel they are somewhat superior to southerners, isint that why they get so over protective of their women especially if it involves southern men coz they feeel hausa girls are simply too precious. for example, kola abiola, a yoruba muslim wanted to marry aisha babangida (IBB's daughter) at some point but the IBB people were vehemently against it, why?even though they are the same religion, well maybe politics was involved too, but name one "big man" from the south who is married to a hausa fulani woman, im sure you'll not be able to give names, but there are many hausa men who are married to southern women, like IBB who is part fulani part gwari. or atiku who is fulani and many others!!

im a northerner dude, but im saying from my observation, ive never seen northern women marrying southern men, why??you never see it (hausa or fulani especially) maybe nupe girls will marry southerners but certainly not hausa or fulani women.its like they're saying, over my dead body will marry a southern man undecided

yup, though it doesnt matter coz thats not the issue, the issue is that he's a northerner and shes from the south but you never hear of southern man marrying a northern girl. WHY?
Politics / Re: How Come Northern Men Can Marry Southern Women But Never The Other Way Round by gadogado(m): 7:24pm On Oct 16, 2009
you guys are not answering the question, you give instances of hausa MEN marrying southern WOMEN but not Southern MEN marrying hausa WOMEN. I have never seen it and im sure its extremely difficult for southern men to marry hausa women. give me an example of any nigerian celebrity i:e politician who is a southerner and has married a hausa lady. it just doesnt happen and if it does, its 1 in 1,000,000 but the reverse (hausa man-southern woman) in 1 in every 1,000. Why is this??
Politics / How Come Northern Men Can Marry Southern Women But Never The Other Way Round by gadogado(m): 4:08am On Oct 16, 2009
I have noticed that you ocassionally see northern men specifically of hausa/fulani extraction marrying yoruba or igbo women or any other tribe from the south for that matter. for example, Atiku Abubakar's first wife is yoruba and his 4th wife is igbo. However, you never hear whether elite big man or common man from the south marrying a hausa/fulani girl. Why is this? I'm sure it's political or maybe has something to do with inferiority/superiority politics and identity in nigeria. whats your take coz its not like hausa or fulani girls are not pretty but they are never interested in marrying men from the south.

either way, that stuff is animalistic, simple and all these yoruba people will going about claiming to be the most educated, isin't ekiti famed for having a "professor" on every street and from every family? and that educated state has idiots like this biting that poor man,did you not see the way he was biting him??aaaaaahh, omo yoruba!the next time i hear or see some yoruba man saying some bull about how superior they are,i will bite him, wink\

tpia, i have never heard boko haram chopping off heads, they were the ones that got extra judicially killed for the most part, they didn't go far at all in their own killing spree. that being said, im yet to hear head chopping in northern nigeria. besides, head chopping was adopted from europeans and arabs (yeah, thos countries you run to to seek refuge and civilization) furthermore, there is something disgusting yet honourable about cutting off heads, theres a fear tactic to it and its an age old execution method used all over the world including the ancient chinese.everytime we clash on nairaland,i have to school you on one thing or the other, why?
