Education / Re: Impartiality Of The Admission Process At School Of Nursing Eleyele. by gawk: 7:39am On Mar 26
Please on behalf of my sister, what subjects do they set during the entrance exams and were you for Nursing or Midwifery program, she will be taking Midwifery program exams

I can't but help to bring this out here and to point this out. It is as regards the impartiality of the admission process at the School of Nursing, Eleyele.

That Nursing school hoards money and favours only it's indigene. Wait.. did I say favours only it's indigene? I meant favours only those who can connect their way in! And a lot of those people considered are Oyo state's indegenes.

How do I know this? I was an aspirant for the last session. The registration fee amounted to a total of #10,000 and it was paid. The day for the entrance exam was set and we went for the exams. A lot of people registered for the exam. They were more than 2,000 people. No exaggeration. A few weeks later, the results were out.

Non-indigenes had a cut off of 66 while indigenes had a cut off of 57. Let me note that I'm not an indigene of Oyo state.

I was on a WhatsApp group for School of Nursing Eleyele aspirants and I saw a lot of people wailing that they didn't get pass the cut off. Some claimed they felt they must have gotten more than the score given to them.
I checked my score and I had 76%. I was so happy and I danced that at least I had gotten through the first stage cos I put in a lot of work for the exam. Little did I know that I was just deceiving myself.

People who got pass the cut off were given dates for the second stage, which was the interview. I prepared hard for the interview, reading all sort of current affairs and getting ready for likely question they might ask.
The day for interview came and the interview days was slated between a Monday and Wednesday after which the interview would supposedly end.
I did the interview and I felt I answered the questions quite well only for someone to ask on the WhatsApp group, "Please, who is doing interview on Thursday?" The funny part is that this person that asked the question was one of those complaining that they didn't meet the cut off mark.

I was confused. Interviews were supposed to run from Monday to Wednesday, so where's Thursday coming from? I chatted the guy up who asked the question. It was then I learned that there were other people coming for interview from Thursday to Friday. He explained to me that these set of people who didn't meet the cut off but have someone who can connect them. He told me he was connected by his LG chairman. I was shocked. So if someone will connect them what about us who worked hard but have no connection?

I decided to be positive and remain hopeful while waiting for the final results of the interview. Then, after 2 weeks the names of the admitted candidates were released. I checked the list with cold anxiety, my name wasn't there. I could not but think of all the hard work I put in trying to make sure I did my best.

I tried to console myself and checked the WhatsApp group. Alas, the guy who didn't even meet the exam's cut off, but was connected by his LG's chairman gained admission.

It may have been easy for me to get the 10k for registration, but I think about others too. Others who just tried to take the first step by gathering the money from their sweat hoping for the best. But these top people won't think of that. Soon they'll start selling another form again and a lot of people will fall into their trap. Do the math: 2000 people multiplied by 10,000 per person.
And you know the funny thing? Only 100 people will be admitted. 100 connected people.

Oh, you were not informed? Don't ever try to go to School of Nursing Eleyele without connection. You will waste your money. You will waste your efforts.

Nairaland / General / The Nnpc/nurpc – Exxonmobil – Seplat – Stalemate by gawk: 9:31am On Aug 28, 2022
THE NNPC/NURPC – EXXONMOBIL – SEPLAT – STALEMATE
A SOUR FAMILY AFFAIR BEYOND PRESIDENTIAL MEDIATION

By Adeyemi Olayisade–Abel

NNPC was formed in 1977 as a merger of the Nigerian National Oil Corporation and the Federal Ministry of Petroleum and Energy Resources. It manages the joint venture between the Nigerian federal government and a number of foreign multinational corporations, which include Royal Dutch Shell, Agip, ExxonMobil, Total Energies, and Chevron.
When ExxonMobil commenced a Joint Venture with the Federal Government of Nigeria, through the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), the Federal Government held 60 percent share, with the remaining 40 percent held by MPN when the company was granted Oil Prospecting License (OPL) offshore in the present Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria.
NNPC and ExxonMobil for more than six decades had maintained a very inextricable bond which had been visibly seen in its past relationship, their union appealed to many industry watchmen as largely healthy, especially with this current administration, having witnessed the immediate appointment of Ibe Kachikwu a former head of legal affairs and also a former Executive Vice-chairman of ExxonMobil, to head the NNPC as Group Managing Director at the very inception of the Buhari led administration in 2015, the legal juggernaut alongside several technocrats in the company were brought to heads and serve in several government Petroleum Departments and Agencies in the country.
Having witnessed firsthand the joint operations that connects the duo of ExxonMobil and NNPC while serving as an officer with this international oil giant planning the itinerary for their monthly reconciliation rituals at different luxury conference halls in Lagos and Abuja, I fulsomely admired the level of cooperation between the two parties.
Aside from the prestige accorded the squad of ExxonMobil, the height of admiration held for the oil giant was unparalleled, this got onlookers debating maybe the ExxonMobil brand elegance or the financial responsibility it gallantly bears to facilitate their exquisite meetings was the magic wand. Now the business romance is changing, I can say for a fact that the beautiful bride that before was adored is no longer interested in the union which was indeed a fruitful one, blessed with fruits, coming with several plaques and awards to the company’s credit, although these plaques ends in dust having being dumped in some store rooms where heaps of files are trashed within the building.
When two parties both give 100 percent, they build a strong bond, such union guarantees flexibility and the ability to cope with crises and problems, but this is far from reality. For ExxonMobil, having to deal with an unbearable operational environment, starting from insensitive actions from high handed regulators the “husband man” NNPC and its in-laws NUPRC, DPR, NAPIMS among numerous others, and then facing rising insecurity challenges in the oil producing regions, where killings and kidnapping of employees raged, occasioned by continuous threats by host communities to wreak havoc most of which were achieved.
Notwithstanding ExxonMobil maintained a very active community relations, it made substantial contributions in areas of health, education, sports, water supply, electricity and roads, especially around its operational bases in Akwa Ibom and Rivers state these acts of kindness were remarkable.
ExxonMobil driven desire to encourage her in-laws for a better union was what kept their matrimony till its dissolution early this year, it is valid to say that any husband that neither values nor appreciate his spouse and tolerate their shortcomings will lose her to a waiting suitor, now Mobil Producing Nigeria is close to the exiting this joint venture operation, a step to shutting the door behind them, but NNPC as a supreme king should not stay wifeless for long, here comes a young home grown damsel, no longer naïve, parched with bruises suffered from the rod of regulatory assaults, yet she stands tall in the midst of her oppressive regulators, her name is Seplat.
Seplat was formed in June 2009 through the partnership of Shebah and Platform Petroleum Joint Ventures Limited to specifically pursue upstream oil and gas opportunities in Nigeria, indeed she is young but no longer a neophyte to the murky waters of oil business, now incredibly she alone swallowed Mobil Producing Nigeria without any digestive tract obstruction, her gumption is scary and such unprecedented feat is worthy of every accolade. According to the transaction summary, Seplat Energy Plc, entered into a sale and purchase agreement to acquire the entire share capital of Mobil Producing Nigeria for a purchase price of $1,283 million plus up to $300 million contingent consideration, including the working capital and other adjustment, but unfortunately the deal was terminated by the industry regulators.
Now Nigeria has happened to Nigerians again, the bereaved counterparts blocked the deal, what are their justification? If one may ask, It is sickening to begin discussions on those issues, now we hear that ExxonMobil village in-laws, the Akwa Ibom state government has warned Seplat Energy Plc against the move to acquire the assets of Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited, the state pointed out that there was a subsisting restraining orders of injunction by the High Court of the state.
It is worthy of note that this deal has been duly ratified by the president who also heads the petroleum ministry and who is statutorily loaded with the exclusive powers of approvals and rejections based on provision of the Petroleum industry bill.
Now, as with Seplat energy their astronomical ascension to greatness of this stature, should applauded in the energy sector, as it seems impossible to believe that with this current moribund economy, one would marvel seeing that Seplat energy could stake more than $1.5 Billion on a company that is blighted with myriad of operational risks and challenges, I hail the Seplat nation, it is way bigger than a team, I salute its tenacity of intention.
As the controversy rages unabatedly, keen watchers decry the worsening oil theft situation that has risen to about 400,000 barrels per day, yet regulators have been so consumed with killing a deal to give indigenous energy firms the capacity to boost Nigeria’s moribund production capacity.
Hence to the overzealous regulators, I reiterate for the umpteenth time, what are your justifications for these actions? According to the publisher of Africa Oil and Gas Report, Toyin Akinosho, he decried the impropriety of NUPRC’s public spat with the Presidency, saying it was needless, he noted that this move is definitely sending wrong signals to the investment world.
I think it is time we win Nigeria for greatness, hence in the spirit of nationhood and goodwill for this government nearing its transition let us put Nigeria’s interest first and consummate the ExxonMobil-Seplat deal to save the country this reoccurring stigma and rebuild investors’ confidence.

When I see people supporting Buhari, I ask myself if they have sense at all. This man is an unprecedented failure, but people still support him and that alone never never cease to amaze me.

Any Nigerian man that is up to 40yrs and still completely single not married is either financial broke or mentally unstable lipsrsealed

If you truly had over 15 years in business management you would have known that the BPE laws requires that the sale of a national asset be advertised and the highest bidder wins. It's silly of you and Rewane to ask Atiku to tell you who he would sell it to like we are in one kingdom without Due Process. Do you think Nigerians are not wiser.

Part sale of national oil companies is not new. Petrobras of Brazil was partly sold to the public, BP of UK was partly sold. Saudi Arabia with all its money wants to sell part of Aramco its equivalent of NNPC. The advantages of sale of NNPC is that it will cease to be the piggy bank of the government in power, decision taking will be faster and it will be more transparent and hence can grow remit more revenue and create more jobs. A bigger NNPC can dominate the west African and African market. The sales process just needs us, Nigerians, to be vigilant and demand the highest standard of transparency in the sale.

Due process and BPE in Nigeria?? This man are you normal??.

Enclosed is the e-mail reply from PTDF's consulting firm, Flexisaf on my enquiry.

((Dear Stanley,

I sympathize with you on this unfortunate development but to refer to the email earlier sent to on updating your admission status, the mail read "successful shortlisted" this means you were shortlisted to get the scholarship but not yet awarded.

The PTDF couldn't have chosen all successful shortlisted candidates and was careful not to give scholarships to those candidates who were yet to secure an admission to any local university. We encourage you to try again for the next scholarship scheme.

Sincerely

PTDF Scholarships Team))

It feels terrible to be denied this scholarship with such an excuse even when the published list also has names of those that hadn't secured admission as at then as well under "Further Documentation Required"

P.S. Currently I have secured MSc admission.

Good Evening Stanley,
I read your post for the first time that day the list of local awardees hit the website, I couldn't but sit up and take a concerned step to respond to this issue of denial and dissatisfaction, when that mail droped on update of admission status, everyone on this platform saw it as a success story but I was indifferent becos I was waiting for the aftermath of the response on the admission update, I didn't take any step on admission, 20k application form is not childs play, with this response from PTDF, restrategise and don't get discourage.

most women will be married by month end.
But being a man doesn't necessarily make a person an eligible partner.
Men have standards too, mostly look and class but must also be of equal
class or higher.

I laugh when I see some people claim that women flock around men
because men are scarce. That is a lie, women flock around above-average
high-class men, which leaves out most men.

I have a perfect response for u if all men in a particular country were up to standard and all women were up to standard, Unwillingness of men to marry will still abound... Its an ancient pattern your analysis cant water it down... Men are not what you think we are
