At the time, Goodluck Jonathan was the president of Nigeria and Kanu was based in London, UK.

In this video of a protest held by Nigerians in London against the Boko Haram insurgency, Kanu can be seen condemning those who were “determined to tear the country apart”.

Kanu had said: “We are protesting about the killing of families by people who are determined to tear the country apart and it is not something we support, it is not something we would like to see continue.

“If that continues, it will lead to a violent disintegration of the country, there will be no more Nigeria for anyone to go to. There will be no Nigeria for anyone to refer to. We cannot allow this nonsense to continue so something must be done.

“The only thing the terrorists can accomplish is the break up of Nigeria.”

Some officials of the Buhari administration have alleged in the past that Kanu’s secession movement started after Jonathan lost the 2015 presidential election.

Olusola, an indigene of Ikere Ekiti, which is the second largest town in Ekiti, was adopted before the commencement of a retreat organised for members to sensitise them ahead of the 2018 election.

The adoption of the deputy governor, who is a Professor of Building Technology from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, was the major decision reached at the party’s stakeholders’ meeting.

The communique issued at the end of the meeting read, “After due consultation, without prejudice to the provisions of the Electoral Act 2010 (as amended), we formally endorse His Excellency, Prof. Kolapo Olusola (the current deputy governor), from Ekiti South Senatorial District, as our preferred aspirant/candidate.”

Those who signed the communique are Anifowose Mustapha for councillors; Alhaji Amuda Sunmonu for Ward chairmen; Mr. Femi Bamisile for Local Government Party Chairmen; Dapo Olagunju for Association of Local Government Chairmen; Senator Bode Ola for Chairmen of Boards and Parastatals; Dr. Modupe Alade (Secretary to the State Government) for State Executive Council; Speaker Kolawole Oluwawole for EKHA and the State Chairman of the party, Chief Gboyega Oguntuase.

Speaking with journalists after the adoption, Oguntuase said the party organs would abide by the decision taken by the stakeholders in the overall interest of the party and the entire people of Ekiti State.

He, however, said the adoption would not preclude any member of the party who is interested in the governorship ticket from contesting.

He added that open and transparent primary election would be held in accordance with the rules of the party.

Chairman of Forum of Ward Chairmen, Alhaji Amuda Sunmonu, also hailed the decision to adopt Olusola, maintaining that “Wherever Governor Fayose goes, we will follow him.”

Also speaking on behalf of councillors, Mustapha said all the 177 councillors in the state were solidly behind the governor and that “the decision of the party’s stakeholders remained binding on all of us.”

The SSG described the deputy governor as a competent and loyal member of Governor Ayodele Fayose’s political family, adding that his adoption was a reward for loyalty, dedication and commitment.

The Nigerian army has released a code for citizens to call to lodge complaints against soldiers for maltreating civilians.

According to the Director, Civil Military Affairs, Solomon Kumapayi, the army would respond promptly to complaints of human rights abuses by civilians against any of its personnel nationwide.

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Tukur Buratai has directed us to go round army formations to sensitize our troops on human rights activities, and their conduct whether on operations or out of operation.’’

“The COAS has set-up human rights desk at the army headquarters. So, he directed same to be set-up at formation levels at the divisional headquarters.

“It is also to be set-up outside divisional headquarters to allow easy access for civilian populace to reach us,” he explained.

He said a Call Centre with sort code 183, had been set up to reach out to the human rights desks on any network.

“Someone is there to receive your complaints and immediate action will be taken, and the Army Chief is being briefed daily on all calls that come in," he added.

I was ecstatic in the wake of the passage of the #NotTooYoungToRun bill by the Senate.
Feeling that the house would easily give a two thirds majority assent and Buhari would be able to sit up long enough to nod, I felt like “this was it”.

For long, we had consistently yabbed ourselves about the propensity to prefer otimkpu positions for little crumbs that would fall off the table of power. And finally, finally, we were almost at the threshold of being able to aspire for any office we felt qualified to hold and what happened?

I am a big fan of animations, I believe they hold a whole lot more lessons than one can imagine, if you go beyond watching them for the entertainment value.
But Despicable Me, I could swear that that was one animation that was just there to have you howling with laughter over the silly antics of Gru and his clueless minions.
In a nutshell: Gru is a villain and he achieves his villainy with the help of hundreds of thousands of bumbling yellow, pill shaped minions who communicate mainly in gibberish.

They are always in search of a villain to serve and as soon as they find a bigger, badder villain than their current master, they switch loyalties. Gru’s villainy is yet to be matched by any other evil genius, and so, they seem to be stuck on him.
Okay so somewhere in the Minion Movie, three minions help the Queen of England recover her crown and in appreciation, she decides to hand out gifts to the three of them.

First to Minion Bob, the Queen gives a tiny replica crown for his teddy bear Tim; Minion Kevin is knighted; but Minion Stuart who has always rocked a ukulele and longed for more, was first pranked with a snow globe gift, then gifted a real life electric guitar.
Suddenly, he had in his hands all he had ever longed for and what did he do with it?

The Acting Commissioner for Transport, Prince Lanre Elegushi revealed this at a stakeholders meeting with market men/women, residents and National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW). He said the government is committed to tackling points of traffic gridlocks in the state.

The lay-bys will help reduce the travel time to and from Ikorodu.
