It is a fighter jet but it's main purpose is to train pilots. That doesn't mean it can not engage in a dog fight. This jet is equipped with advanced technologies and if it was useless it wouldn't still be in use by some of the European countries that I mentioned.

This jet is still in use in Isreal, Poland, Italy and Portugal. M346 FT is for training

It is used by them to train their pilotes to fly real fighter jets. This is basically a toy. Just like the alpha jet, even civilians can but these trainers.
