The Three R’s of Waste Management

Pollution when happen because we throwey dirty anyhow fit cause problem for our country o. Some of
the problem na flood, disease, poverty, ehen. I know say you go like ask how this dirty fit cause all this
problem. Well sha read this story so that you go know how dirty dey cause this problem, how we go
take control our dirty well if we use three ways and how we go come take rich more and get better
health with good way to control dirty. The three better ways when we fit take control our dirty start
with letter R.

When we throwey things like plastic bags, bottles anyhow, they fit block our gutter and that thing fit
make area flood especially when rain dey fall. Remember say mosquito dey lay their egg on top stagnant
water so if our gutter block, malaria go come rampant for that area o. The way when we take dey
throwey food when remain fit bring sickness like Lassa fever, paragonimiasis o. This one mean say when
we dey throwey dirty anyhow whether na organic or inorganic dirty, we dey carry bad thing come meet
ourselves then still meet other people when dey our environment. Ask yourself this question: wetin I fit
do to manage my dirty and throwey the corecct way? This question go carry us go the first R of the three
better ways to throwey dirty.

Reduce

Watin be Reduce? How I fit take reduce? The first step na self-control. You go see sweet food for market
and you get money to buy am. I no stop you to buy am o but buy only the one when you fit finish so that
you no go throwey the one when turn to dirty. See another example; you won go market and you know
say you go buy many things. Why you no just carry your own cellophane go market so that them no go
give you another one? If you continue to collect new cellophane everytime, na dirty you dey produce. By
now sha thank God say you don dey know why we need to reduce our dirty.

To reduce our dirty fit make you rich o. When you reduce watin you buy, you fit save more money.
Continue to reduce your dirty.

Reuse

Which one be Reuse again na? This one make sense well well o because e go show say you nor only dey
creative but you still like to save our environment. E good make we define dirty as something when we
never get use for. The time when dirty don get use, no be dirty again. What if we use all those
disposable cups wey them dey share for party take dey keep our pencil and biro on top our table? What
if we use plastics bottle as funnel to pour fuel for our generator? We fit even use them keep some of our
cooking ingredients sef but make sure say na the one when you use by yourself nai you dey use o. For
Animal and Environmental Biology building inside uniport, we use plastic bottles and their caps take
build one fine walkway. When you dey reuse, you go dey think so the more you reuse, the more you go
know book.

To reuse dirty fit help you to save money because when you reuse something, you nor go come spend
money to buy am again.

Recycle

Ehen. This word popular well well. People dey mistake “Recycle” and “Reuse” well well but them no be
the same o. To recycle no be to reuse but na industrial process when dey convert something when be
dirty to another new thing. For example first, We fit collect book when them throwey then recycle am
turn to newspaper or toilet roll. What about plastic bottles? We fit recycle am turn plastic buckets and
other plastic things. To recycling nai be the best R of of all the R because dirty fit come out as something
new. When we recycle, our natural resources go rest small.

To recycle fit make you rich too. For inside Nigeria, place wey them take dey recycle never plenty. You fit
open one, collect or buy the dirty wey you want from people then you fit sell the one wey you don
recycle. To recycle no go only make you rich, E go make other people rich then still make our
environment clean.

You see? With the three better ways to control dirty, we fit become healthy, rich and our society fit turn
to something when oyibo people dey call sustainable. See that dirty when you wan throwey so? Hold
am, wait till you see trash can before you throwey am. Na me and you go start am then people go
follow.

How you check the story?

Education / Re: Is Animal Science A Good Course?? by GhostPhoenix(m): 10:30pm On Jun 14, 2020
Ayomisure:
Is animal science a good course?

What are the job opportunities and what is the average salary of an animal scientist.

Urgent answers needed please.

Hey. I want to help you. Let me help you.

Animal Science as a course is under the faculty of Agriculture in most institutions. The Biological Sciences counterpart of the course is Zoology or Animal and Environmental Biology (as the case may be).

I will be giving you some insights on the applications of Animal Science (as in for faculty of Agriculture). If you think you're in Faculty of Science or you need more info on the course or just academic guidance, I'll gladly help.

I am Elijah Rona, a final year student of Animal and Environmental Biology, University of Port Harcourt. Though I study the course (as in the theory and science of it), I have come to love the Agricultural, Medical and Environmental applications of what I study. Since you're in Agriculture, I will answer you, giving you the the Agricultural importance of the course.
* Animal Cultivation (as in Animal husbandary) Consultancy: Nigeria is moving into an Agricultural economy. With Animal Science, you can be a consultant to cultivators of Chickens, Pigs, Cows, Snails, Fishes (Catfish, Tilapia, etc.), etc.
* Production of Biogas: Biogas (or Methane) is the byproduct of anaerobic Bacteria such as methanocytes that dwell in the gut of ruminants like cows. With Animal Science, Cows will be not just a source of food but also a source of fuel and electricity.
* Research on How to Domesticate Wild Animals: As Nigerians, we love eating wild animals like bats, snakes, bush meat, etc. These animals are a threat to us because we don't know how healthy they are. With the help of an Animal Scientist like yourself, such animals can be cultivated so that people who have weird taste for such Animals will have a place to buy healthy ones.
Sustainable Development Goals: Do you know that the population of our wild Biodiversity is reducing because of over-hunting, superstition, etc? With your help, we can think of sustainable practices so that we humans and the animals can coexist.

There you go. Need more help? I'm on Twitter

You're getting it all wrong. Beside do you know that both tortoises and turtles are still classified under the name turtle. But they are actually not the same. You can Google it and check the best habitat for tortoise and give me a reply later.

Here you go

Tortoise aren't terrestrial. Yeah I know they spend most of their time on land. Only the females are the ones who find land a bit okay, just because they want to lay their eggs. Other male loves living on water

You just described turtles
Pets / Re: I Caught This In Lagos: Is This A Tortoise Or Turtle? by GhostPhoenix(m): 2:43pm On May 01, 2020
Tortoises are terrestrial.

Turtles are aquatic

You caught it close to a body of water so it is a turtle...

That isn't enough...

It has a smooth leather-like black shell so it is a turtle... Tortoises have rough mostly multicolored hard shells.

Please!!! Most species of turtles are endangered. You can make a difference by releasing this young animal back into the water. Please support conservation... You can research more about the status of turtles... Thanks

Romance / Re: A Male Friend Stopped Talking To Me Because I Have A Boyfriend by GhostPhoenix(m): 8:42pm On Apr 30, 2020
Suzzi23:
Hi guys. Please I need advice.

There is this guy in my department. Let's call him Joe. He is good looking and very intelligent. He also has this very nice voice and good vocabulary. Initially we were just normal casual classmates, we greet, exchange notes and all that, nothing serious. I've always found him attractive but have not found him special in any way because I've met lots of guys like him in my University.

But few months ago he started becoming more friendly towards me. We got talking and we realized we shared a lot in common. He asked me if I was single and I told him I was. This was the truth because I wasn't dating anyone then.

Few days after another guy I was very close to asked me to be his girlfriend and I agreed. I'm in love with this guy. He is very jovial, intelligent and he knows how to treat me well. I know he loves me because I've known him for a while and he has treated me with love, affection and respect. It's always fun being around him and I enjoy his company.

Despite now being in a relationship, I still continued spending time with Joe. We shared a lot of deep intimate info about ourselves with each other. I have never felt more comfortable talking to someone before. Talking to him always made me feel good. I felt I could be vulnerable with him. He was very honest and didn't hide the dark aspects of himself. He wasn't the type to pretend he was a good person. And he wasn't. He had done a lot of bad things in the past and he wasn't afraid to talk to me about them. And although this might sound weird I liked the fact that he wasn't the typical "moral individual" I was used to meeting. I liked the fact that he had a dark personality that only me knew about. He said things to me that made me begin to explore myself and my sexuality in ways I didn't even imagine that I could. He was always fond of teasing me and never hesitated to correct me if I did anything wrong. I loved that kind of honesty.

As we talked more Joe opened up to me that he was attracted to me and had feelings for me. He would flirt with me and I'd try my best not to flirt back but I enjoyed his flirting and I enjoyed his company. He asked me if I felt the same way about him and I was honest and I said I had feelings for him, because I did. He is an attractive guy and even though I have a boyfriend I can't help being attracted to him..

He then asked me to be his girlfriend and I told him I was already dating someone. He was surprised by my response. He told me he was under the impression that I was single and that's why he had gotten so close and intimate with me. But he didn't appear angry or sad. He even told me my bf was lucky to have me.

The problem now is that since that day he hasn't talked to me. When I see him in class, he doesn't even act like I exist. He doesn't reply my messages, doesn't pick up my calls and doesn't check up on me. Throughout this lockdown he hasn't even texted me once. This is unlike him. I feel very bad about the whole thing. It's almost like our relationship didn't mean anything to him and I didn't mean anything to him. I want to still be friends with him.
