Joy Anyim is an actress, producer and C.E.O Fundollars Entertainments. One of the fastest growing entertainment outfit operating from four continents. In this exclusive interview, the University of Uyo graduate shared an insight into her world of movie making, Philanthropy and plans for the future. Keep scrolling to find out what she revealed; Can you tell us your background? Joy Anyim is the last born and only daughter of Stephen Anyim’s family in Oduma village in Aniri L.G.A in Enugu State of Nigeria. I lost my father in 2006, he was the strictest disciplinarian I have ever met and I still miss him very much. My mum is an Evangelist and also a caterer, I have two brothers, Maduabuchi and Kingsley, they run their business and also family business. I am also doing my best over here as an entertainer. How did you begin your Career? I will say, my journey in this industry started as a teenager. I danced for different dance group and organizations. I enjoy dancing alot. Till now, dancing is still a part of me. As I was growing the love for the entertainment industry grew with me. The good thing was that I was surrounded by friends with like-minds, so I got all the support I needed, was later expose to stage act (drama). After sometime, I got a call from a friend telling me about a movie auditioning, I just told her off immediately but she told me I should just come around and watch. So I went but to my surprise I got a script without an audition. I was like, excuse me sir, I didn’t came for this, the sir was actually the director of the project who sighted me when I was about leaving and sent for me, just like that, I was handed a script for a movie “Women’s Right” my first movie experience was discouraging having to say one line over and over and I was like gosh I am tired, my director replied, Joy, you have not started yet. My day one was hell but as production continue, I got used to the system and I enjoyed every bit of it till date. I did another one immediately after that “What a World” came to me as a gift the movie was heart touching. It didn’t end there, I am always being invited to act without any auditioning, God is really involve in my being in this industry because all I get has been favour all around. How did you step into the shoes of a Producer? Well, I didn’t just wake up and say I wanted to produce, as someone in business I asked questions before I made up my mind to start producing. After my fourth movie, I had this friend who has been in Nollywood for a long time, she shot this movie I was playing lead; being with her and seeing how she operates, I was interested to keep everything. She on the order-hand was ready to educate me. She invited me to their meeting and that was how it all started. Thanks to her, I brought the heavy shoe, at first the shoe was so heavy but God gave me able hands to work for me with love and care. Your recent movie Release? Our recent movie release is titled “Dangerous Pastors” session 1 to 4 Staring Mike Ezuruonye and other big acts this year, we are embarking on another project starting March 2015. And before the year runs out with God on her side, we should release another one. What were the challenges with your first movie Production? I will not say the road has been easy and smooth, but I will say keep doing what you enjoy doing. I am very used to the system as a guidance counselor we meet various kinds of human beings everyday and there is this popular saying “what doesn’t break you makes you” so I don’t see challenges rather I see just a problem that need the right solution. How would you rate Nigerian movies compared to other parts of the world? Believe me, when it has to do with Nigerian movies, we are good at what we do, we have the best movie in Africa, not that our co-countries are not trying but they too can testify that we’ve got it all, then in the world, apart from Hollywood which was like our aim, everyone wants a movie to come out like Hollywood but Nigerians with our style of act and tenants, has graduated into Hollywood both in our movies and individuals. As years pass we may overtake Nollywood. Do we have enough technical equipment to work with in Nollywood? We have everything we need, every equipment we need, it is all about upgrading and we are not lacking behind in anyway, as new equipment are launched we buy. Nollywood has everything and even more than any other. Aside movie productions, what else are you involved in? I’m into farming, real-estate and constructions. What are the challenges of being a female entrepreneur? The truth remains that challenges comes and go in one’s life, we all know how difficult it is to have a female give commands, naturally some men don’t buy it but I don’t care much cause. I have to do what I have to do as a professional not a woman. I respect people unless I notice otherwise, if that happen we iron it out the best way, so I will say challenges becomes a problem if not handled very well, I consider them as an opening to a greater me. A number of Nigerian producers are spreading their wings into the Hollywood scene. Do you have any plans to do something similar to that? Sure, I was also moving toward that direction but I don’t see it as “a must be thing”. I enjoy Nollywood I am proud of who I am; I can even create a Hollywood of my own in Nollywood. Smiles Any plans to Direct? I am an actress and a producer. I really love acting because that is where I started. I am not considering directing, at least not now but I don’t know if I may tomorrow. What is your Beauty Secret? I live a life as in proverbs 31 woman, I’m proud of the woman I have become in it. What more can beauty be describe than a beautiful heart. it’s important to have a beautiful heart than a face. read he concluding part here http://www.sharonojong.com/entertainment-2/straight-up-with-nollywood-producer-joy-anyim/

Celebrities / I’ve Never Been Turned Down By A Woman- Award Winning Director Elvis Chucks by GirlsClubNG: 11:43am On Feb 27, 2015 |
Multiple award winning Nollywood actor and director, Elvis Chucks needs little introduction. He is indeed a seasoned producer who knows his onion. He recently won City People Entertainment Award for Best Director and Best Movie Category at African Magic Viewers Choice Awards(AMVCA). He started acting from a tender age of three with productions like Tales by Moonlight and others before he stopped to further his education. In this exclusive interview, he talks about his new movie Ransom and why he is still single. Tell us about yourself and what you have been up to? My name is Elvis Chucks. I am a multiple award winning film maker. Recently, I won Best Director City People Awards 2014 and Best Movie, African Magic Viewers Choice Awards. Last year, I premiered Caught in the Act starring Yvonne Okoro, Michael Godson, Bishop Imeh and Beverly Osu. I just finished shooting my new movie Ransom staring Blossom Chukwujekwu, Jackie Appiah, Xolie Shabalala, Elin Garshol and several others. Ransom is a love story with a unique twist, which also explores and treats the topic of racism…. I decided to take on this big project because I wanted to speak to everybody regardless of color, ethnicity, country, tribe or race. We have being seeing your face for more than a decade now, Share with us how it all began? Honestly speaking let me say I have been blessed because l love what l do. I became an actor at age 3 with productions like Tales by moonlight and the others. After 2 years I had to stop because my parents felt l was too young and they wanted me to continue my education. When I finished school, l was called to join Beyond our Dreams with the likes of Alex Osifo, Lai Ashadele, Late Sam Loko, Zack Orji and the rest of them. I also featured in one of the Super Story episodes. After a while, I went back to school and became what l am today. I studied film and television production and major in Directing. During my days in school, the guy that directs for GodFather, Micheal Dube was my classmate while Clearance Peters was my junior in school. While studying l modeled and acted in some American movies with the likes of John Harrison, Peter Fonda, Luke Perry, Barbra Streisand and the rest of them. When I returned, I produced True Citizen starring Uti Nwachukwu, Alex Usifo, Brian Okwara, Kenneth Okolie among others. My second movie, A Wish featured Award winning actress Funke Akindele, Bishop Imeh Umoh, Patience Ozokwo, Afeez Oyetoro, Hellen Paul and other artistes. The movie got me an AMVCA and 9 other Awards. Since then we have been waxing stronger and trying to produce strong content interms of motion picture interpretations. Why acting as a profession? I grew up seeing myself as an actor. I started at a young age; left then the opportunity presented itself again and again. The moment I discovered l was a strong character I knew I had to try and understand my craft better. The rest they say is History. What set you apart from other music producers? Being an extremist. The will to do it and do it well. Paying attention to every little detail. I try as much as l can to submit myself to interpretation and make a story come to life even beyond the imagination of myself and the viewers. New talents, how do you discover them? Some are my friends, while others were introduced to me. I just try to see if they got something raw to be discovered and l give them a trial. How many are successful in Nollywood now? I have been blessed by the talents l discovered. One of my discoveries, I.K Ogbonna was nominated for Best actor for Honeymoon Hotel which is the movie l produced last year with Hlomla Dandala, Joke Silver, Dianne Yekini and the rest of them. read more here http://citypeoplegroup.org/i/ive-never-been-turned-down-by-a-woman-multiple-award-winning-director-elvis_chucks/

Romance / Read Her Story, She Needs Your Advice by GirlsClubNG: 12:26am On Jan 19, 2015 |
Dear Temilolu, My name is Solape and I am 38 years old. Though I grew up with my single mother as she and my late father never married each other, I was well-brought up. My mother who ensured I never lacked my basic necessities guarded me jealously and protected me with all her heart. I can comfortably say she lived for me; spent all her earnings on me and would always assert that fact in almost all our conversations such that it imprinted on my soul right from my impressionable years and I carried it through my early teens to my adolescence. When I got to the university, even though I lived in the hostel most of the time, I didn’t require the need to be lectured by my mother on being morally-upright. In my teens, I had made up my mind to keep myself till my wedding night and not make the mistake my mother made which ended her up in shame and regret for so many years. As you can imagine, she got pregnant for her boy friend (my late father) while she was in the university and it was a tug of war before he eventually acknowledged me as his daughter when I was 7 years old. My mother was in great shock and traumatized for years. She never fell in love with any man again and instead concentrated on me with so much love. I attended a campus fellowship of a spirit-filled church which groomed me spiritually and after graduation continued worshipping in one of the branches in town. I was so sure I would never fall into wrong hands as I also guarded myself physically and emotionally. I was very deep in God and could hear from him. When I was 26 years old and working in a bank, God constantly warned me to desist from paying attention to a particular guy who was all over me but for reasons I can’t quite understand, I still allowed him to visit me occasionally. By these visits, I eventually felt comfortable in his company and so it wasn’t difficult for him to get me to accept an invitation for an outing. Unfortunately, on one of these invitations to his family house which happened to be a day we were both home alone, he pounced on me and raped me. I couldn’t even struggle with him. Asides from the shock that weakened me, even with all my strength, my bones were no match with his. He raped me in such a wicked and brutal manner and as I tried to get up and clean the blood that had stained my body after lying numb on the bed for close to 2 hours, I was struck with a thunderous slap that gave me a black eye. After the slap, came blows in quick successions. Even after 12 years, a chill runs down my spine when I remember that horrible experience! A lot happened as a result of that but let’s save that. The doctor who treated me fell in love with me. I remember spending about a week in his hospital and the comfort and love I was showered with in those 7 days still linger on in my memory. The doctor practically lived in the hospital that week and only went home briefly. Most nights when I woke up, I always saw him by my side though I was dazed from sedation. On the day I was discharged, he drove me home and by that time, he had become friends with my mum who had become so appreciative of him. Within a short while, he got me a passport and a visa to travel to the U.K. during my leave period. About 5 weeks after I returned to work, he got me a better job in another bank. God used him to wipe my tears and make me forget all my troubles to a large extent. Exactly 4 months after the brutal attack on my life, he proposed marriage to me. I inquired about his wife because I felt he should have been married and he told me he was divorced with no children. I didn’t want a divorcee but my mum practically pushed me to him and our marriage was contracted. And today, we have 2 beautiful kids. Honestly, my marriage has been one you can call heaven on earth. I have never experienced all the trouble women talk about in marriage. I have had so much peace, comfort and every good thing a woman could want out of her marriage. But you know what? I don’t love this man. I could say, I have been fond of him out of appreciation but I don’t love him. Someone else has captured my heart in the last 2 years and I love him with all my heart. I desperately want to be with him all the time and always imagine him making love to me even when my husband is at it. These days, I get so cranky and snap at my husband just for no reason. He’s been very patient with me probably because he’s 10 years older but I think I might just work out on him some day. I know it would be wrong of me, but what do you advise I do please? https://temiloluokeowo./2015/01/19/read-her-story-she-needs-your-advice/ |

Politics / My Father Didn’t Want Me To Go Into Politics- Bar. Moyo Ogunlewe by GirlsClubNG: 11:08am On Dec 14, 2014 |
A Lagos State House of Assembly aspirant in Kosofe Local Government Area under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, Barrister Moyosore Ogunlewe has promised to push for legislation that would bring government closer to the people. In this exclusive interview with City People, Moyo son to former Minister of works, Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe, explains why he went into politics despite his father’s reservation. Can you let us into your world? Who is Moyosore Ogunlewe? Thank you very much. I was born into the family of Senator Adeseye and Mrs Oluwakemi Ogunlewe on the 1st of February 1984. I grew up in Ogudu, Kosofe Local Government Area in Lagos. I attended Chrisland school, ikeja, where l got my first leaving certificate, then l proceeded to Lagos State civil service model college Igbogbo in Ikorodu, where l finished in 2000. In 2007, I obtained my first degree in Business Administration from the University of Lagos (Unilag). Afterwards l was posted to Kwara State for my NYSC, but redeployed to Lagos state. In 2011, I furthered my education at the University of Buckingham where I studied Law. Followed by a Masters Degree in law with emphasis on Trade, Maritime, Oil & Gas. After that, I attained a BL from the Nigerian Law School. What was early life like? Early life was great! Funny enough, I didn’t grow up with a silver spoon. My father was a civil servant and my mum had to raise 7 kids. Let’s delve into your political career. How did it all begin? It began during my days in Unilag. I was in my second year when l was appointed as the secretary of my Department. That was an eye opening to things to come. But what prepared me the most was the opportunity to sit in political meetings my dad hosted and attended. Would you say your father’s Political career shaped your decision? From my early days I have always been involved in politics. The passion to reach out to people has always been in me. My dad’s political career is just a plus. Why the decision to join Politics and how did your family take it? Honestly, my father didn’t want me to go into politics. He still has his reservations about my political ambition. It is perhaps due to the fact that he has tasted the bitter side of politics. That could explain the reason he doesn’t want me to get involved. Irrespective of that though, my elder brother, Gboyega Ogunlewe encouraged me. I must add that the youth in Kosofe L.G.A also want me to represent them. What slogan are you adopting for your campaign? Our slogan is ‘Kosofe eyo, Moyo ni o’ meaning Kosofe rejoice Moyo it is What is your relationship with the youths in Kosofe L.G.A? I can tell you that my relationship with the youth in Kosofe L.G.A is fantastic. I have lived here all my life. I play football at Emmanuel High School in Ojota, Skido and all over Kosofe, with the boys. We eat and drink together. I am a member of the Ogudu residential youth association. If you like, we can take a walk down the street, in fact, any area in my constituency and you will see how many people, not just youth will be greeting and relating with me. I am a part of Kosofe, and Kosofe is a part of me. What agenda do you have for your constituency? Wow! I have a lot of ideas for Kosofe L.G.A Constituency 1. I have always believed that a fundamental failure of any Government exists where there is a disconnect from the people the Government is intended to govern. In most cases, the public does not feel like it is a part of Government, nor do they have a sense of belonging, a collective responsibility to make Government functional for them if you will. I often hear people say, Government should provide this or that which should be its paramount responsibility, but I also believe that the public is just as responsible to make sure their needs are met. People must be made to feel they are involved in government. That is why l came up with WADA frame work that will be anchored on 4 main sectors; Education, Healthcare, Women and Youth development. What is WADA? Like i had mentioned earlier, the fundamental flaw of government is its seeming detachment from the people. In my Constituency, we never get a sense that we are part of the government. Sure they come and fill some potholes on some roads, but we haven’t felt much impact in the primary & secondary schools. The primary healthcare centers in the area are lacking, youth employment is at an all time low, and women empowerment is still lacking. My idea is to introduce the Ward Development Area (WADA) Framework, which will serve as the “fourth tier of Government”. It will involve prominent people within the community who will assist the Local & State Government in providing and managing infrastructure and social programmes. Let us use education as a prime example. You see it all the time. Every morning in Ogudu where I live, the children of the more affluent are driven in big cars to private schools outside the community, whereas the ones from less privileged families are trooping in en-mass to the public schools inside the same estate. This happens all over my Constituency and Lagos State at large. Can you imagine that? Whereas, if the Ogudu Residents Association and other resident associations were invited to manage the public schools inside their own communities, I believe they would send their own children to those schools which would in turn bring up the standard and welfare of the school. I benefited from a similar structure, in my secondary school days. The Lagos State Model College in Ikorodu that I attended was managed by a Board of Governors picked from prominent Lagosians within the community who had the desire to serve. The children of these people attended this school and as such the standard of the school was maintained. Unfortunately, this was discontinued. The fact is that most Residents Associations already act as a form of government, often times being responsible for security, minor road repairs, in some cases even power generation, etc. They must be embraced, recognized, strengthened and institutionalized into a form of government. That is when the people feel as though they are part of government. The same can be done for primary healthcare & childcare within the community. WADA would be closer to the people because even the local government has been taken far away from the people. We need to develop an all inclusive society that does not breed separation of the haves and have-nots, That does not bode well for our future. What outstanding qualities set you apart? My believe in the rule of law. I have an extreme passion for the Law. That was what drove me to further my education and become a lawyer. I believe that any society that does not have respect for the rule of law, can never become a fully developed one. Once there is respect for the rule of Law in the society, the moral and civil compass for development has its foundation. I believe therefore, that my being in the hallowed chambers of the Lagos State House of Assembly, along with my fellow members would help to drive legislation that will impact positively on the lives of the people of my constituency and Lagos State at large. http://citypeoplegroup.org/i/my-father-didnt-want-me-to-go-into-politics-bar-moyo-ogunlewe/

Family / Your Seed Of Greatness by GirlsClubNG: 8:39pm On Sep 05, 2014 |
In our early teens when we begin to discover our interests and wish to assert our gifts/talents at every possible opportunity, we have a particular dream/wish which makes us tick even though most of the time; it only exists in our fantasies. Unknown to a lot of us, these dreams more often than not represent our seed of greatness waiting to manifest. What baffles me however is that later in life most people never scratch the surface of what was divinely invested in them to make them great. God has planted seeds of greatness in each of us and His plan for our lives is for those seeds to sprout, grow and blossom. Unfortunately, a lot of people don’t realize this, least of all know how to go about nurturing the seed. While in high school, I remember my mates and I sharing dreams of becoming world leaders, scientists and so on. But quite frankly, after a many years, a lot of us are nowhere near these beautiful dreams. I begin to wonder if it’s because of the frustrating educational system in Nigeria or the funny economy which seems to make the rich, richer and the poor, poorer. continue reading here http://temiloluokeowo./2014/09/05/new-post-your-seed-of-greatness/comment-page-1/#comment-2
