Politics / Steer Clear Of Presidency – Professor Nwala Warns North And Southwest by gistok11: 8:01am On May 11, 2019
Leader of Alaigbo Development Foundation (ADF), Prof Uzodinma Nwala has approached the North, Southwest, and South to avoid the 2023 administration.

As indicated by him, it was the turn of the South East since the various areas have proceeded to lead the nation.

Nwala noticed that the zoning recipe which was battled for to guarantee that each locale involved the workplace of the President in the nation have been failed.

“I was in the 1993/94 established gathering, the first occasion when that zoning was raised. I was one of those that battled for it,” he told Sun.

“The thought was to move the administration round among the six geo-political zones – North and South rotation.

“The administration goes to one zone in the North and next time to another region in the South until it goes round among the six political zones, yet you can see that they have wrecked it.

“The North should not be requesting administration in 2023, as the administration ought to go toward the South. In the South, the Southwest ought not to look towards that course as Obasanjo has gone ahead. Similarly, the South-south, as Jonathan has gone ahead.

“It is the turn of the Southeast. Be that as it may, the issue is that on the off chance that we are not joined to choose who ought to speak to us, you discover that they will from long range pick a possibility for us.

“I’m content with what occurred in the last decision, the Igbo cast a ballot as one individual, as they voted in favor of Atiku and Obi. On the off chance that we continue this, when 2023 comes, we ought to have the option to figure out will’s identity there for us.

“As things stand now, at the established gathering, we had the option to fashion a national partnership that will make the authority accept the secondary lounge as a minority.

“As things are currently, if there is no gear and the field is left open, there will be an example of casting a ballot – more significant part of Southwest, dominant element in the South-South, more substantial role in Igbo land, the lion’s share in Southern Kaduna, the lion’s share in the Middle Belt, the Talakawas in the North every one of them will cast a ballot as one individual.

“What is significant for us as Igbo is to attempt and hold ourselves together as a people; President or no president, let us keep ourselves as one individual, battle for our interior self-sufficiency. On the off chance that we do that they will search for us. By right and if things are done accurately, 2023 must be the turn of the Igbo.

“We should ensure that their operators, who they have engaged and made rich and who are tricking themselves playing a wide range of malicious legislative issues; we should ensure that there is the wrong spot for them as individuals speaking to us.”

Politics / I Have Been Investigated As Kwara Gov Without Blemish -saraki by gistok11: 8:08am On May 09, 2019
Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, has told the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to stop wasting its time and resources in its bid to nail him at all cost, because it would fail.

Saraki said the current moves by the anti-graft agency would only end in futility. He noted that he had been investigated as Kwara State governor without blemish.

This was contained in a statement issued and signed by the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to theSenate President, Yusuph Olaniyonu.

In the statement, which was in reaction to a statement credited to the EFCC regarding Saraki’s tenure as governor of Kwara State, the Senate President said he was not bordered by all the moves of the EFCC, but urged the commission to be more professional and transparent in its conduct.

The statement read in part: “We have noted a statement issued by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in reaction to a news story published by a national newspaper, based on the letter written by the commission to the Kwara State Government in which it demanded for all details of salaries, allowances, estacode or any other entitlement enjoyed by Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, the President of the Senate, during his tenure as governor of Kwara State, between 2003 and 2011.

“While we have kept quiet over the series of letters sent to various institutions where Dr. Saraki had served or is serving in which the commission stated that it is conducting various investigations, we are compelled to make our positions known on the less-than-noble and patriotic objectives behind these investigations because we believe it is a mere witch-hunt exercise aimed at settling scores, laced with malicious and partisan motives.

“While we do not wish to obstruct the EFCC in the performance of its tasks, we reiterate our position that the commission should be professional, ethical, transparent and consistent. It cannot be deemed professional when the agency is not consistent in the application of its rules and the laws to all cases and individuals. The recent onslaught against the Senate President by the anti-graft agency is definitely a case of different laws for different folks.”

In the same vein, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has accused the Federal Government of using EFCC to witch-hunt Saraki. The PDP, in a statement by its national publicity secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, yesterday, said the “fresh seige” against Saraki was part of an alleged clampdown on opposition figures.

The party noted that it was obvious that the All Progressive Congress (APC) lead administration was panicky over the evidence it intends to present against the ruling party and President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal.

The statement read in part: “The PDP alerts that the fresh siege against Senator Saraki is part of the larger plot for a renewed clampdown on key opposition figures and perceived political opponents of the APC administration, particularly to frustrate the determination to retrieve our stolen presidential mandate at the tribunal.

“The party says nothing else can explain the Federal Government’s obnoxious and distasteful resort to intimidation and evidence-fishing, just to nail Senator Saraki at all costs, even when nothing incriminating has been found in his stewardship as Governor of Kwara state, after several investigations.”

However, the EFCC, in a statement by its acting spokesman, Tony Orilade, said it was investigating Saraki’s earnings as Kwara State governor as well as his financial stewardship in the Senate.

Faulting the claim of the Senate President that it was after him for ulterior reasons and that he is a victim of persecution, the anti graft body said it took exception to comments that cast a slur on its legitimate assignment.

Legal fire works will commence, today, at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Abuja, where four petitioners, including the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Atiku Abubakar, seek to invalidate President Muhammadu Buhari’s election.

The tribunal has already issued hearing notices to all parties with respect to the pre- hearing session.

The petitioners, in separate petitions lodged at the tribunal, are challenging the Independent National Electoral Commission’s declaration of Buhari as the legitimate winner of the February 23 presidential election.

Aside the PDP and its candidate’s petition, marked CA/PEPC/002/2019, which was filed on March 18, other petitioners include the presidential candidate of Hope Democratic Party, (HDP), Chief Ambrose Owuru, who got 1,663 in the election, presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Movement (PDM), Pastor Aminchi Habu and the petition with suit No. CA/PEPC/003/2019, filed by the Coalition For Change, and its presidential candidate, Geff Chizee Ojinka.

While the HDP, in its CA/PEPC/001/2019 petition is seeking a fresh election, on the basis that his party’s logo was not included in the ballot paper, the PDM, on its part, is contending that Buhari’s re-election was riddled with substantial non-compliance with mandatory statutory provisions.

It was the position of the petitioners in their various petitions that the irregularity substantially affected the election, “such that the first respondent was not entitled to be returned as the winner of the presidential election”.

On February 27, INEC declared Buhari winner with 15,191,847 votes but, almost immediately, Atiku rejected the results and vowed to upturn it in court.

Specifically, in their joint petition, Atiku and his party, insisted the data they secured from INEC’s server revealed that they clearly defeated Buhari with over 1.6 million votes.
