One thing I have found out among majority of Nigerians is that they are always looking for an already made business model to copy or latch on. Without realizing that creative thinking itself is even a business model of its own. The idea I want to suggest here is a very lucrative one for those who have an eye for creativity and innovation. The idea is this: become a website traffic consultant. You see, as the level of internet knowledge is exploding in the country many companies and individuals are taking their businesses online through websites. But what I have discovered is that majority of them and even their web designers don’t any idea on how to bring people to those websites. As a website traffic consultant, all you need is to upgrade your knowledge about many of the ways to attract targeted traffic to a website, then package a proposal to several companies, telling them convincingly that without targeted traffic, their sites will be as silent as a grave yard. You stress the need for them to see reasons with you. You identify that need for them and position yourself as an expert. The amount you will charge depends on a combination of some factors.

Now, before you can be talking of having financial need, you must have a goal in mind which you want to achieve. hope iam correct? let me share a true life story, i promise you will learn a trailer load of lesson from it on how to raise money.
A young man wanted to buy a bicycle and that was his goal, he went to a mentor to help him fashion out how to raise the money for the bicycle. The mentor asked him "what can you do?" the youn man answered " i can mow lawn, i can paste posters, i can cut grass, i can wash plates" The mentor asked him to go back home to type those things he just mentioned that he can do. After typing, the mentor helped him to put it in order by turning it to a flyer with the young man's phone number under it. The flyer was circulated within the district and in less than two days the young man had more jobs than he can handle and had to employ other young men in the district to help him out from the various jobs coming his way. He even bought the bicycle in less than one week.

So you that is crying for help in this forum, what can you do? can you paste posters? can you carry blocks? can you mix cement? can you paint a house? just let your imagination run wild. Can you put shame aside? there are may jobs waiting to be done, you will see them when you are ready!

First you have to define the area you want to be speaking on and brand yourself powerfully, there is what is known as niche speaking. For instance I do motivational speaking and have succeeded in branding myself in that area. There was a time students were approaching me to come and speak to them about love and relationship, I politely declined and told them that I don’t speak in such areas. It is not that I cannot research and speak on what they wanted but I wanted to maintain standards and to solidify my brand by explaining to them the areas I speak on.
  So, you have to be known for what you are, public speaking is just evolving in Nigeria and people are yet to understand the difference between different fields of speaking. It is your duty to chose a speaking niche and brand yourself strongly in that niche.

You also need to be well grounded in the area you have chosen to speak on, read relevant materials in that area and make notes, make sure you constantly update your knowledge.
To publicize your career you need to reach out to those who will patronize your speaking business, there are many ways to do that. The ways to promote your speaking business will form the basis for my next post.

You are very correct, anything that is uniquely and creatively packaged will sell in Nigeria.

This is one business idea that no one is doing in Nigeria today that has been coming to my mind steady. The business is this: Poster Pasting Company.
Before you laugh it off, wait till iam through with my explanation. If you live in any town you will notice that new and diferent posters are coming out every day, what you may not know is that most of owners of these posters are secretly looking for who will help them paste these posters around.

How You Can Make Money From This:
Now you can package a company as a professional poster pasting company and request that people submit their posters in your office for professional pasting, i discovered that anything can work in Nigeria if well packaged and given a unique and professional touch. You will not be the one to be pasting these posters by your self, you will have freelance posters whom you will pay on commission basis or any other payment arrangement that will be profitable to your company.
As a seminar host, i know how painful i find it to get my posters pasted profesionally round the city, from lack of those who will paste it to shoddy job done, iam convinced that if anyone launches a professional poster pasting company around me, i will be their first client given a reasonable fee.
If i can have such a need, there are many others that have it as well.
Once, you start this company, send proposals to churches and other organizations that have poster needs, given the proliferation of churches in Nigeria today, churches alone will give your company enough jobs.

Anything that is creatively packaged in Nigeria will sell, It pains me when i see people running around looking for non existent jobs instead of sitting down to think.
