Family / When Should I Stop Breastfeeding My Baby? by Growingapp: 10:48am On Jul 05, 2019
The World Health Organization recommends that all babies be exclusively breastfed for six months, then gradually introduced to appropriate family foods after six months while continuing to breastfeed for two years or beyond. Some babies decrease the number of breastfeeds as they begin to be able to digest solid food.

Family / How Can I Get My Toddler To Give Up The Bottle? by Growingapp: 10:43am On May 13, 2019
My 22-month-old son still wants a bottle in the morning, one before his nap, and another at bedtime. If we don't give it to him, he cries inconsolably. How can we get him to use a cup during the day and to stop relying on the bottle to fall sleep? I could really use some advice.

I know "they" want you to stop the bottle early these days, but my son was about 3 when he stopped drinking Milk out of a bottle. He never used a pacifier or sucked his thumb, and drank out of a cup for everything else BUT milk.  He wanted to buy this orange cup while we were shopping and I told him, "if we buy this cup, no more bottles." He said OK! That was the end of the bottle. He's now 4-1/2 (and still bottle free!) My daughter is now 14 months and I am not going to rush her into a sippy cup. She doesn't use a pacifier or suck her thumb either - I honestly don't see what the rush is. I think it depends on your child. You still have to wash sippy cups. To me, it's not worth the grief to the kids. In time, they'll give it up. Do what's best for your situation.

Family / I'm Having Twins When Should I Stop Working? by Growingapp: 9:25am On May 10, 2019
I'm only 9 weeks pregnant with twins, but I need to start planning for my maternity leave. With my first child, I was able to work until my delivery with no problems. I read that when expecting twins, working becomes almost impossible after 26 or 28 weeks. Does anyone have any experience with this?

I say listen to your body, it will tell you when it is time. I tried to work as long as I could. In fact I can say I worked up until delivery. I delivered my twin girls at 29 weeks. It was not planned. I had a high risk pregnancy and was going to the doctor every two weeks. At my last appointment, they told me had to deliver my girls within 48 hrs because there was a too large of a size discrepancy with the two. I was admitted that day and was given steroids to help develop their lungs before delivery. I ended up having a c-section the next day because they were in distress. My advice is get plenty of rest, and enjoy the pregnancy.

Health / I'm Pregnant And Food Leaves A Horrible Taste In My Mouth. Is There A Solution? by Growingapp: 6:55am On May 09, 2019
No matter what I eat, it always leaves a bad taste in my mouth. This makes food really unappealing. Most of the time I have to force myself to eat by thinking of my baby. Is there anything I can do to deal with the bad taste?

The solution is not basic hygiene. You obviously have not experienced the problem. Brushing your teeth after every meal does not help because the taste comes right back. I had tried sucking on Jolly Ranchers which is only a temporary fix like everything else for me. Nothing really taste right except for carb's. Potatoes, rice, noodles, macaroni..all the fattening stuff taste fine. But once you are done that bad taste comes right back. Even water has a funny taste now.

Health / I'm Pregnant And I Constantly Feel Mad At My Partner. What Should I Do? by Growingapp: 5:27am On May 06, 2019
I'm 15 weeks pregnant. Lately, I keep getting angry at my partner until I can't even stand to sit in the same room as him. I don't know why I feel this way or what to do. Should I talk to him about it or not?

My wife is 19 weeks pregnant and she is always mad at me and always tells me that she hates me. I just want to give an advise to the "HUSBANDS" that you need to be more, more and a lot more patient with your partners. You have to understand that there's a lot of changes happening to her body and I think that makes her uncomfortable and makes her irritated at all times, specially with you. Just be patient 100 times more. For the wives, Please don't torture your husbands too much... Thanks! Have a safe pregnancy.

Health / How Do You Cure Newborn Hiccups? by Growingapp: 7:05am On May 05, 2019
my baby's only 2 weeks old and gets the hiccups at least 4 times a day.

Babies even hiccup in the womb, which sometimes alarm pregnant moms but is also totally normal. Some mothers wonder how babies can hiccup in utero – after all, they're not really breathing yet. But hiccups have nothing to do with breath: They're sudden contractions of the diaphragm caused by irritation or stimulation of the muscle. As for how to stop hiccups, there are a lot of theories, but Mazur pooh-poohs them all. "There's really not much you can do, and they'll go away soon," she says. Some say to let babies suck on something, which Mazur says "won't really hurt and might help, but I wouldn't bet on it."

Don't try to cure hiccups by startling your baby, pressing on her eyeballs, pushing on her fontanel, or pulling her tongue, which are common folk remedies in some cultures. There's no proof that any of these methods work, and you could hurt your baby in the process.

Health / When Should I Tell Family Members That I'm Pregnant? by Growingapp: 3:05am On Apr 29, 2019
I'm 10 weeks pregnant, and I'm not sure when to tell my parents, my brother, and my husband's parents. I've had two miscarriages in the past -- both after I told my relatives I was pregnant. Our families are coming to visit this week. Should I go ahead and tell them in person, or wait until I'm past the first trimester?

A miscarriage is your body's way of getting rid of an unhealthy or abnormal pregnancy. That's the way that I look at it. I had one child already when I had my first miscarriage. After that I had another girl and now I'm pregnant with my 3rd. I don't see anything wrong with sharing the news. It's not going to "cause" a miscarriage just because you told too early. If you're excited about it, tell it! Let your family be excited too. It is almost impossible for a woman to not get discouraged and stress out over the possiblity of another miscarriage. Whatever is meant to be will happen. Good luck, Mothers!

Health / Re: How Do I Keep People From Kissing My Baby On The Lips? by Growingapp: 8:52am On Apr 28, 2019
I just came out and said to a friend "We kiss cheeks in this family." it hasn't happened again. Sometimes being direct is the best way to go. It is simple and there is no confusion later. I also have a house rules posted at the door . Rule #1 Always wash your hands before you play with the twins.

Health / How Do I Keep People From Kissing My Baby On The Lips? by Growingapp: 8:50am On Apr 28, 2019
Last week, a neighbor kissed my 6-month-old on her lips. I was so surprised and upset, I didn't even respond. I think it's unhygienic and disgusting. Am I overreacting? How can I be polite, but make sure this doesn't happen again?
