Sorry about your experience. I think you should have just cancelled the debit mandate you activated on remita before you started repaying them manually through transfer. As long as you activated the automatic thing on remita, they will do their own job even if you transfer manually. It is not remita's fault but a problem between you and LENDHA. I am sure they will help you sort it out. bizlinks: |

Business / 10 Things You Didn’t Know About Remita by gsandakey(m): 11:50am On Dec 13, 2016 |
Remita is quite popular in the FinTech industry by all standards. But just in case it doesn’t ring any bells, it might interest you to know that the software has made enormous impact on the Nigerian economy in a relatively short time, and is giving us much global recognition as a cutting-edge indigenous financial technology. In its September 2016 Report, global research firm McKinsey observed that digital payment platforms such as Remita are key to the growth of modern economies and empower individuals, businesses and governments to carry out financial transactions more cheaply and efficiently. It projects that by 2025, these platforms will boost the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of emerging economies by a whopping $3.7 trillion, and drive financial inclusion. Remita is a little over a year old as the payment gateway adopted by the Federal Government for its Treasury Single Account (TSA) policy, but is already living up to McKinsey’s projections. So far, it has made a huge impact on public finance in Nigeria by helping the government recover N4.3 trillion of its cash assets lying idle in Deposit Money Banks (DMBs). Here are 10 other things about Remita you probably didn’t know. 1. Remita is not TSA Contrary to what you have heard, Remita is NOT the Treasury Single Account (TSA) which is the depository for all the funds generated by Ministries Departments and Agencies (MDAs) as taxes, levies, tariffs, etc. Rather, it is the payment gateway that facilitates the remittance of these funds into the TSA. So if you are a public servant and your salary, subvention or pension gets delayed, Remita is NOT to blame. It is only a software. 2. Remita is an e-Payment solution Remita is a CBN-licensed solution that addresses the payment needs of individuals and organisations. Developed by FinTech giant SystemSpecs, it helps the public receive and make payments easily with ZERO activation fee as a plus. 3. You use Remita You may have used Remita at some point without knowing. Remita is the payment gateway for Federal Government funds generated from levies, taxes and tariffs. If you have made one or more of these payments in the past one year, there is a good chance you have indirectly used Remita for your financial transactions, even if you don’t have the software. 4. Remita has HR functions Remita is more than just a payment software. It also has HR and payroll functions which help businesses maintain a comprehensive, online employee personal and payroll data. With Remita, organisations can compute staff allowances, loans, pensions, taxes, overtime allowances and more without hassle. What’s more, they can automate salary payments, send electronic payment notifications, pay slips and tax analysis slips to staff at the end of every pay run. 5. Remita is secure Unlike other payment platforms that leave you guessing whether your transactions have been compromised, Remita is packed with advanced security features such as a combination of hard token, soft token, biometric token, proprietary authentication protocols, etc. With these and other features, you can literally make payments with your two eyes closed. 6. You can’t pay government without Remita Gone are the days when you could pay the Federal Government in whatever way you chose. Currently, over 900 Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) make daily remittances to the Federal Government account through Remita indirectly. Here’s how it works: they transfer whatever funds they generate to DMBs, who in turn transfer to the Consolidated Revenue Fund (CRF) at the close of every working day. But the catch is, Remita is a key part of the process since it is the ONLY electronic payment gateway that executes the transfer. 7. Remita has won multiple awards Remita is at the forefront of financial technology, as reflected in its functional features. Small wonder, then, that the software has won multiple awards for its distinctive user-friendly features in the saturated Nigerian FinTech industry. In 2012, Remita was awarded the ‘Outstanding Public Service Product of the Year’ by Financial Technology Africa Magazine. It was recognised as the ‘Most Outstanding Software Solution at the NITMA awards in 2015. In April 2016, it was declared the ‘Most Efficient e-Revenue Service’ at the CBN Cashless Card Expo. The list is almost endless. But note that Remita emerged the ‘Best Software Solution of the Year’ at the Nigeria Telecoms Awards and ‘Pan-African Software Solution of the Year’ at the Titans of Tech awards earlier this year. 8. Remita processes $30 billion transactions annually Remita currently serves over 1,000 merchants, billers, multinationals, SMEs and governments at various levels. It is also used by over 500 microfinance banks (MFBs) to meet the needs of Nigerians who cannot access commercial banking services. So it’s not much of a stretch to understand why the software processes about $30billion worth of payment transactions on a yearly basis. 9. Remita has government approval Unlike other generic software in the market, you don’t have to be jittery using Remita for your financial transactions. After all, it is used by the Federal Government, corporates and high-net worth individuals to process financial transactions running into billions of Naira every year. 10. Remita mobile will soon hit the market Remita is currently web-based, but its mobile variant is set to hit the FinTech market soon. At the recent Gulf Technology Exhibition (GITEX) in Dubai, SystemSpecs Executive Director 'Deremi Atanda disclosed that the Remita mobile app will enable any individual or organisation to see in real-time account balances held across different banks on a single app, using the latest scan-to-pay and tap-to-pay technologies. All commercial banks in the country use foreign software. The major e-payment switches ride on foreign sourced software. The accounting software for the entire country called Government Integrated Financial Management Information System (GIFMIS) is from Estonia, a country of just about two million people. Our Integrated Tax Administration System (ITAX) at FIRS is sourced from Canada. Our National Payroll (IPPIS) sits on something sourced from USA. Business / SEED Guides Nigerian Software Company; Systemspecs To $100 Million Plan by gsandakey(m): 10:44am On Dec 02, 2015 |
SystemSpecs, a Nigerian company that makes accounting and payroll software, had blossomed into a $10 million business, but its executives were troubled. They knew there was an abundance of untapped demand across the country, and they were having trouble developing a plan ambitious enough to capture it. John Obaro, the managing director, and ‘DeRemi Atanda, the executive director, thought about bringing in strategic consultants. That didn’t work: The company that handled SystemSpecs’ books couldn’t take the job because of a professional conflict of interest, and other companies lacked the necessary range of experience. Then John and ‘DeRemi were accepted into a program administered through SEED, the Stanford Institute for Innovation in Developing Economies. The program serves promising companies in developing countries by providing business training and onsite coaching. The lessons the two executives learned could be worth tens of millions of dollars. After working with SEED’s personal coach for one year, SystemSpecs developed a plan that forecasts a tenfold increase in revenue, to $100 million, by 2016. “SEED came along at just the right time,” ‘DeRemi says. “They presented us with a crop of professionals who ran their own business. These weren’t theorists or consultants just operating on theories. These are successful people telling you what they learned.” SEED’s Transformation Program was developed to help entrepreneurs in developing economies scale their businesses to create jobs and ease poverty. Entrepreneurs who are accepted into the program study under Stanford faculty. They also receive support and coaching from experienced business practitioners from Silicon Valley and elsewhere, who guide them through the teaching program and for months afterward as the companies put their strategies into practice. SEED said from Day One, it’s about raising impactful businesses. We are very glad to be a part of that. It’s about asking, how can this contribute to improving the lives of other people. ‘DeRemi’s coach was Robert Mayberry. The Oakland, California, native is a former executive vice president for IBM’s software division, and a former executive director for Hewlett-Packard’s web services. He was intrigued by SystemSpecs’ history. The company, founded in 1991, initially sold accounting software. Later it branched out into software that manages payroll and online payments. But its growth, while steady, was nowhere near the “seismic” expansion that John and ‘DeRemi told him should be possible. So Robert began by meeting with the executive team to learn about the company’s leadership dynamics. John, the managing director, was excluded from the session so Robert could quiz the other managers about him. The first thing Robert discovered was that only two of 12 executives felt empowered to make decisions when the boss was out of town. “The managing director learned that the perception the team had of him wasn’t what he intended,” Robert says. “He said, ‘You’re empowered,’ but they didn’t feel that way.” Robert and the team met at least once a week for strategy sessions that lasted 12 hours or longer. They pored over every aspect of SystemSpecs’ business plan, from marketing and sales to finance and recruiting. The sessions were grueling, but fruitful. They produced one key point that ended up changing the company’s entire approach to sales. The sales team had originally been divided into direct sales and partnership sales, which was itself broken down into channels such as bank partnerships. ‘DeRemi and his team realized they could do a better job of collaborating with partners on sales. For example, under the old system a partner might sell education software to a school, and then SystemSpecs might follow up with the customer to sell related payment software. Now, ‘DeRemi says, SystemSpecs and the partner look to integrate their products first and then make a single sale. This tactic expands the market and lowers the cost of sales, he notes. The strategy meetings also afforded the management team access to Robert’s considerable data experience. At one point Robert observed that the company’s software was generating a wealth of data that sat unused. He suggested spinning off a separate entity to generate value out of the data. The executives had discussed the idea in the past, but only superficially. “But when we sat with him it suddenly made more sense,” ‘DeRemi recalls. “He helped us drill down and figure it out.” That data project is now expected to roll out in the third quarter of 2015. That’s just a side venture, however. The team’s main focus is to expand its primary business across Nigeria. The company already has strong relationships with the federal government, including 22 commercial banks and more than 400 microfinance institutions. It now plans to target each of the country’s 36 state governments as new opportunities. Five-Year Transformation Plan SystemSpecs is also looking to expand into Ghana and eventually across the continent. If that sounds overly ambitious, the company stands by its vision. It made $10 million in 2014, and expects to make at least that much in 2015, the baseline year for its 5-year transformation plan. After that, management predicts spectacular growth for the company, which currently has between 170 and 180 employees. “By 2016 we want to go from $10 million to $100 million,” ‘DeRemi says firmly. “We broke it down — the potential is there. We’ve done the math and it’s certainly possible.” As he reflects on the influence of the SEED program, ‘DeRemi wonders whether the company could have created the same business plan on its own. He thinks his team would have figured out how to achieve at least some of its potential, but not to the same degree and not with the same clarity of purpose. And as often as he uses words like ‘success’ and ‘revenue,’ ‘DeRemi says he and the company are driven by something deeper: the desire to make a positive difference. It’s the same goal that drives SEED, which is why the partnership between the two has been so valuable. “SEED said from Day One, it’s about raising impactful businesses,” he says. “We are very glad to be a part of that. It’s not just about creating a product, it’s about creating impact. That’s what we’re doing. It’s about asking, how can this contribute to improving the lives of other people.” By Dinesh Ramde https://www.gsb.stanford.edu/stanford-gsb-experience/news-history/seed-guides-nigerian-software-company-100-million-plan 1 Like

Business / Nigeria Invests In Indigenous Technology To Power TSA by gsandakey(m): 4:51pm On Sep 16, 2015 |
It is no longer news that the Federal Government has made a move to automate revenue collections of Ministries, Departments and Agencies directly into the Federal Government’s Consolidated Revenue Fund account at the Central Bank of Nigeria. Consequently, over 400 ministries, departments and agencies [MDAs] lumbered with the responsibility of overseeing government’s functions in various sectors such as communications and media, economy, energy, intelligence and others must implement the Treasury Single Account [TSA] initiative after President Mohammadu Buhari’s announcement. The TSA is an economic reform of the Federal Government designed to promote efficiency, transparency and acceptability in cash management. “The independent revenue e-collection initiative will automate revenue collections of Ministries, Departments and Agencies directly into the Federal Government’s Consolidated Revenue Fund account at the Central Bank of Nigeria, through a robust indigenous software known as Remita e-Collections platform and other electronic payment channels.” The CBN also noted that the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation had issued a treasury circular to all MDAs to close existing revenue accounts in Deposit Money Banks (DMBs) and transfer available funds to the Consolidated Revenue Fund. e‐Collection is an electronic initiative for the collection of Federal Government revenue such as fees, taxes duties, tariffs etc. It serves as the receipt element of the Treasury Single Account (TSA) concept. The initiative was supported by CBN through the formation of an inter – stakeholder Implementation Committee set ‐up in 2013, comprising the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation, representatives of Deposit Money Banks and the Payment Service Provider (SystemSpecs ) to develop modalities for its operation. Through the implementation of the Single Treasury Account (TSA), the federal government saved about N500 billion in unutilized funds last year. This has further helped boost the economy and increased GDP. The Nigeria Interbank Settlement System (NIBSS) and SystemSpecs also partnered with the Federal Inland Revenue Services (FIRS) to provide electronic payment of taxes in the country. With this initiative, indigenous technology has gained new height in Nigeria and it is believed that this will further deepen the economy by providing more jobs to the Nigeria populace. https://www./nigeria-invests-indigenous-technology-power-tsa-slimfit-adewale?trk=prof-post 1 Like |
