For WES payment, Use Flutterwave!
Go to playstore, download Barter by Flutterwave. Then create a virtual dollar card instantly. It gives you the card details, US billing address, etc. You can also fund the card in naira.

Hello, it's a slightly long read. Please bear with me.

So I have been following this thread for about 9 weeks...right after I got the mail about the RHA letter.

Brief intro...I submitted my online application 13th September, did my biometrics 16th September, got the RHA Letter mail 11th November, made the required payments and sent my receipts and the letter 26th November. Till date, I'm yet to get a response. I have sent emails and filled the webform but nothing yet from the VOs.

On Tuesday 7th January, hubby and I were discussing other options, we were really considering Barbados because it's Visa free for Nigerians and I don't have time to waste waiting for a Visa (I'm starting my 35th week today).

Eventually, we decided on me renewing my American Visa. I have been quite averse to renewing my American Visa due to all the negative news one has been hearing about Visa denials due previous birth(s) in America. Also, hubby tried renewing his American Visa sometimes in November but he was denied after he presented my itemized bill. The VO was however kind enough to mention to him that what we paid was quite low for vaginal birth ($6.5k for OBGYN, Hospital and Epidural).

Hubby decided that we would pay back the discount the hospital gave us. I disagreed initially due to all the stories I had heard. I had concluded that once you have had baby in America, irrespective of the amount paid, kiss your Visa renewal bye until further notice. Eventually I agreed for him to pay the discount (still had no intention of renewing my American Visa as I believed I would get a positive response from the Canadian Visa request)

Cut the long story short, I applied for the B2 American Visa on Tuesday 7th January, got an interview date for today and my Visa request was granted.

Cheers

How did you pay the discount?
What hospital did you use initially?
My hospital refused to collect payments saying they already issued a zero balance.

Lol... I personally think Abuja has the most boring Christmas on earth. The level of OYO in Abuja makes me wonder the kind of boredom people are now complaining about in Canada. Or maybe it's cause I'm used to the Lagos lifestyle..

I am in Abuja and my holiday is filled with activities, end of year parties, family fun fares, birthdays, social gatherings etc. Na me dey choose the one I wan attend.

Anywhere you are, associate with others. That's how you get invites.

Why are you bothering yourself to have the address on your child's birth certificate change to a Nigerian address.

Didn't you have this child in the US? Didn't you stay temporary in a US State before you had your child?

Still not getting the problem here

Thanks beauty.
I have read here severally that VOs want to see Nigerian residential address on the bc to show that we aren't claiming to be Americans thereby misleading the hospital to give us huge discounts.

Good morning all.
Please who has successfully changed the address on their child's birth certificate.
I had my baby a year ago in Houston and pleaded with the hospital to use my Nigerian residential address. The lady insisted that they can't put a foreign address on a birth certificate.

Today, I went back to the US birth certificate office and explained my request. They said such changes are only done online and processed in Austin. I spoke with 3 different staff and they all said the same thing.

Please who has successfully changed theirs?

Just a few words of advice/encouragement as you conclude plans to land especially with regards to work settlement.

1. If you decide to continue in your current line of profession& there is a certification for it,please DO IT especially if it can be done from Nigeria. E.g PMP, do it from Naija, Bankers with branch/RM experience, do the CSC exam from naija if possible worse case, plan to take it immediately upon arrival,it goes a loooooong way to help.

2. Search for career events&register if its few weeks to your arrival.

3. If you decide to change your career upon arrival & you haven't started say taking exams etc before arrival, remember you don't expect to be on the same terrain or have the same audience from recruiters here as the person who has started.

4. If you a RM in a Naija bank, remember to change that title to Banking Advisor here because that's what it's called. It soo helps

5. For anyone planning to be a Business Analyst & you have never been one, decide which type of BA (Iat, Operations, Strategy) you want to be,take free courses online to understand the lingo+CBAP

6. Head of Operations/HOP/HSS, pls note you can't be those roles in Canada because it doesn't work like that. What of thinking along the line of Internal Control,Audit,Risk, AML etc?? Just saying!

7. YOU CAN GET A JOB THAT PAYS SAME OR MORE THAN YOU ARE EARNING IN NIGERIA. JUST COMEFULLY ARMED& PREPARED!!

Am sure we have heard most of these things before, however a lot of newly landed still fall into these categories & it hurts gannnn..

#wetheNorth!
God bless!

Thanks

Everything is becoming scary here. Please i see people saying they wrote IELTS 4times. Does it mean they paid 75k four times. What's the fate of those that aren't gainfully employed on this express entry because everything is a factor of money. Please some one should clarify these things for me

They should prepare for at least 4 to 6 months before registering for IELTS. They should prepare hard and learn the tricks to aceing the exam at one sitting. The keyword is preparation.

Hello House,

please i have a friend who has evaluated credentials and gotten other requires documents, but the problem is with her IELTS.

She has written 4 times and the particular issue is with writing, she just got 6 in writing while the LRS is 8,8,7.5. Now i understand the unprofessionalism of BC.
if she gets 7 in writing her CRS will stand at 462 which is super great.
Frustration is almost killing her and she has given up on retaking the IELTS due to funds and the stress of the job.
please what else can she explore at this point cz shes tired. Is PNP possible?... her degree is in banking and she has accounting experience.

someone please help here.

She should write with MOD and or Computer based test with BC.
She should search part 7 of this thread for tips on writing from Lady Marshall.
No need being discouraged.

My people ur advice will be highly appreciated. My spouse IELTS results came out this morning as LRWS 8,8,7,6.5. This is putting my CRS as the PA on 450. If she had a 7 in speaking, my CRS would have been 452. Considering the scarcity and importance of 2points these days, do we ask for a remark or just hope some day we will clinch ITA with the 450? Pls note that she wrote with IDP. Thanks

Please remark.

Now I see why the CRS score is this high.
I just found out that 80% if not more of my colleagues are on this journey.
Imagine my shock today hearing one of them discussing her IELTS score on the phone.
Meanwhile yesterday, another was at it, taking about her result not caring who listened. Two others are writing next month.
I used to do my thing discreetly not knowing everyone was on this journey . We could already start holding meetings.
Laslas na only Buhari and his APC people will remain in Naija.

A lot of people are becoming more aware of this EE path. Or maybe more interested.
After the Draw on May 24, the number of 451- 600 profiles left in the pool was 1347. Two weeks later, the number of profiles on 451-600 is 5646. This means 4299 profiles in just 2 weeks.
At this rate, we only pray for a back to back draw.

There are a whooping 4624 people on 451 -600.
Even more surprising is the 36,242 people on 401-450.
Wow, the race to Canada just started.
A lot of people have woken up.
I won't be surprised if half of them are Nigerians.

Can a court appointed legal guardian add the dependent to his/her application.
I understand there is a differnce between adoption and legal guardianship.

Is the latter acceptable for Canadian PR application?

If you’re bent on landing in Ontario, you might want to take on the services of a midwife. They are funded to provide care to all residents of their catchment area, regardless of whether or not they have OHIP.
Midwifery services are covered for uninsured clients and there is funding for consultations and labs, but there are a number of other expenses that uninsured clients may face. Bottom line is - Childbirth in Ontario before eligibility for OHIP isn’t free but you can reduce your cost by using the services of a midwife.
More details here

Please can you give birth before the 3 months wait period using insurance bought from either in Nigeria or Canada?
