He could also hack or attack the company database if you reject him.

You never can tell how much damage he can cause if you reject him.

So because a thief can enter your house and rob you easily, you'd hire him to be your security guard. Right? Dey play.

You go learn.

Your interpretation is yours, and yours alone. If you would marry into a culture that is so mercantile that it denies a father the paternity of his children because of failure to pay an exploitative "bride price" (ransom, slavery, human trafficking, come to mind), good luck to you.

Why use the word "marry"? If I'm married to someone it means I've done what is needed. But impregnating outside marriage is a different thing.

The law of Nigeria supersedes. An instance, if I impregnate an Igbo girl in America or UK would her father insist that I pay her bride price? The lady and her father will both be sued to infinity.

You all sound as if an Igbo girl has never been impregnated outside whilst the resulting child still bears the name of his/her father.

No, you can live anywhere in the world but be conscious of the religion and traditions of anyone you want to be romantically involved with.

It is like getting married to an Idoma woman of Benue state who after death must be returned to her father's house to be buried and the husband insisting the late wife must be buried where he chooses.

This scenario you painted is not comparable. Their daughter their choice. Now, my child my choice.

The law of Nigeria supersedes in this case. Another instance, if I impregnate an Igbo girl in America or UK would her father insist that I pay her bride price? The lady and her father will both be sued to infinity.

You all sound as if an Igbo girl has never been impregnated outside whilst the resulting child still bears the name of his/her father.

Thank you. Some should probably stop stretching their dik "across the niger".

You can simply say everyone should live within their respective regions to avoid such. Right?

From the report they were never married as bride price was never paid. just cohabiting.

In many igbo communities, children of such relationship belong to the woman's family and should she get married to another man, those children will remain with her family of birth while in some igbo communities, the man who eventually pays her bride price becomes the father of those children and bears his name.......ask questions before opting to be a baby daddy.

Igbo culture is only applicable to igbos. The Yoruba man cannot be subjected to such tradition. The Nigerian law supersedes. If the man was a responsible father, there is absolutely no way he would not get the custody of his children. However, since the children are old enough they can make their own decisions. Case closed.

Family / Re: Are Women From Divorced Homes More Likely To Divorce? by harveygordon: 4:53am On May 30, 2023
Life is not always in black or white. People who argued that divorce is spiritual are right. Others who argued that it is not are also right.

There are myriad reasons for divorce. Arrogance, ego, upbringing, etc. are some of the reasons.

In my opinion, I do not believe it is spiritual. Some of our forefathers married multiple wives, yet some of their descendants did not toll that path. Most of the problems we think are spiritual are not. Divorce rate in America is twice that of Nigeria. In Portugal the divorce rate is about 97% (I stand to be corrected). Does this mean it is spiritual? I believe it's a culture.

On individual level, I strongly believe divorce is based on principles.

You mentioned your woman is well mannered and cultured, then you have no reason to worry as long as you are good to her. However, if you are a cheat, make sure you know if cheating is a deal breaker for her. Otherwise...

Letsmeet:
Please everyone, what's your opinion on this?
Is it wise to date a young lady from a divorced home?
If She is very nice, quiet, respectful, the most understanding person in the world, doesn't even quarrel. Has a good job and many other good qualities.
But if her parents are divorced, and live in the same area, and she lives with both of them.
What is the likelihood of her divorcing in future? Anyone with similar experiences please?

Thank you for your feedback. But the approval says it’s only valid till July 8th in the mail sent earlier today.
Just wondering if an approval was given isn’t it certain you’ll get a date? Or should I be bothered ?

What the mail is saying is that you have till 8 July to reschedule. Otherwise, you'd forfeit the chance of rescheduling.

Please guys, I need help. I renewed my passport since 23 April this year. Till now, the passport is not ready. I was at Ikoyi office in Lagos today. Still nothing. They were calling names instead of checking with the enrollment number - which I find repugnant. Long story short, I waited till they called all the surnames starting with "OL" still no show.

My school resumes first week in Aug and I haven't still booked appointment for Visa. Please what can I do to get the passport out next week?

I spoke to my father-in-law,a Fulani man himself, a while ago (due to my personal relationship with him, this was the first time I have ever considered the farmers-herders clashes from the perspective of a Fulani man), he explained certain delicate and complex intricacies that makes the proposed ranching system, that used to me a very straightforward one, now seem quite problematic IN THIS PRESENT MOMENT.
The laws in our constitution are not the laws of nature. These laws, as stated in our constitution, are created considering human peculiarities, such that 'general' beliefs even though inclined towards sentiments, as long as they are adopted by a represented reasonable minority and such that IT IS POSSIBLE THERE COULD BE A WAY AROUND THEM with the conditios that it does not threaten the ORDER in the country and the fundamental rights of others (the majority) is not infringed upon.
Having stated the above, it is easy to see that the problem with the proposed Ranching System is that while it is a very logically straightforward solution, it is not the most considerate, therefore not the most appropriate (at least in the short term) and using a method analogous the Occam's Razor for solutions in politics and human relations is unreasonable in my opinion. Open cattle rearing is a culture and proposing a change in this culture must be approached as sensitively as other important cultures of the other tribes. One does not expect that a culture be abandoned overnight, nor that laws guiding a country be entirely insensitive to the peculiarities of the people bound under it.
As in developed worlds, these are the kinds of problems that are confronted by Political scientists, Economic analysts and sociologists, putting forward a comprehensive and in-depth analysis of THE PROBLEM OF HERDERS in the country.

Cultures are meant to evolve and progress. If they want to remain nomadic, it is fine. They can continue doing that in the north.

Don't say in the name of culture, you'll destroy other people's farms and businesses.
Travel / Re: Writing CIMA For Express Entry?? Lets Meet Here! by harveygordon: 11:15am On Jan 03, 2021
CoolAura:
My CIMA Story

I started reading about express entry last year after I met someone who had gotten his COPR and was leaving the next month. I had only a BSc. and he explained that I would need an additional certificate. He recommended NACETEM, but I started researching on my own and realised there were other options. CIMA and BCS seemed the shortest options at that time and I won’t have to worry about the Nigerian school system affecting it. I researched about both and promptly opted for CIMA(though the cost was going to be more) because that computer thing eh......naaaa.

While researching, I stumbled on this thread, thank you @Perra for starting it, it helped me know I wasn’t alone on this journey....and you had a science degree like me. @dexterousOne and @subalinga really gingered me with their progress reports.

With a BSc. in Medical Sciences(no accounting background), I knew it would involve a lot of work and reading but I said, shebi na book, we go read am(I never expected B2 wahala). I started scanning through the materials on Ashranti as recommended by people on the thread (easy to understand) but the notes were quite bulky!!! This was November 2019, with the plan to take at least 2 papers before 2020...but work and life didn’t give me time to read.

I officially started reading (Ashranti) in January 2020, registered on the site and paid for B1. Took and passed B1 in the last week of January. On to B2.....I wanted to take them in order even though I had read that B2 was the toughest!

That B2 eh.....I saw shege, B2 had its own special timeline o. Registered a little over 2 weeks later(Feb) and sat for the exam. Failed cry!!...91!! I encouraged myself to retake but the pain was much, time which wasn’t so available and money had been wasted. Paid for it again 2 weeks after, .....and failed again!... Though this time I scored better, 97! But still not up to 100(pass mark). At this point I decided to take a break and reconsider my decision, I knew I had understood the material better the 2nd time I wrote the exam(I’m sure i had read that Ashranti material front to back like 7 times!) than the 1st time I wrote it. I also wished I had someone to at least explain a few things to me, because that B2 was like German.

While on a break from the exam, Covid 19 happened, I had more time and CIMA announced that online exams will start in May, so I started studying. So in May, I registered for B2 again, took the exam at home and guess what? I FAILED AGAIN!! cry90 something. At this point, I couldn’t believe it anymore, I had studied for that exam more than needed and yet! If the scores were really low, I guess I may have felt better but 3 times I was short of between 3 to 9 marks! So I decided I was done ...no more waste of time and money. I stayed on that decision for some days till I couldn’t find the answer for my future self when I wonder why I gave up. I changed my mind and decided to write one last time. I remembered that in the last exam I didn’t know some answers because I had never seen them in the notes, and my science background cannot know accounting! Someone on the thread has said Kaplan materials were good, someone even posted a link to download sometime ago...I downloaded them. Oh boy!, I thought Ashranti materials were bulky....that Kaplan was a trailer load. I started reading Kaplan and I saw the answers to the questions I didn’t know in the previous exam. I read for about 2 weeks (day and night) and registered again. The last time I had booked my online exam for 10pm, this time I did 8am, I wanted everything fresh in my head...lol. This time God showed up for me...the dance no be small....107! Finally!!!! grin

B3 and B4 were the easiest for me and had the highest scores too (B3 especially). B3 in June and B4 in July. I had earlier evaluated my BSc. so I paid WES for another credential and sent CIMA an email to send transcripts and letter of good standing to WES. They responded 2 days later and sent to WES some days after. Evaluation was ready as one year college diploma 3/4 days after CIMA sent to them (I didn’t have to send certificate to WES, I believe the letter of good standing was what WES used)

This thread has been really helpful, thank you to everyone that answered questions or shared their progress, materials, how to fill WES form and all. God bless you.

I hope this encourages everyone especially those with no accounting background...It’s possible if you decide to get it done, and truth is, it may be way easier for you than it was for me!

May the rest of our journey be easy and smooth. And may the odds be in our favour.

Great. Thanks for sharing your experience.

Please can you share your study material? Kaplan to be precise

I skimmed through the article because I have short attention span.

I think all regions in Africa should be countries (Northland,Westland,Eastland,Southland,Midland,Madagascar) .All ethnic nations(Yoruba,Fang,Ashanti,Akwacross,Igbo,Khran,Hausa, etc) within each country should be states or city-states,depending on the size of land, and they should have autonomy and control of their resources ,economy and development. That's not too different from the current colonial mergers anyway , only this time it will be done on Africa's terms, not forcefully merged by colonial powers.
With a true federalism, each state or city-state would develop at it's pace . I believe the ideal system of Government for Africans is Social democracy . Educational system should be practical .
When I look at the current state of Africa ,all I see are a lost people wandering like beast in a never ending wilderness. The current system will never work .

This cannot work. Nigeria alone has over 300 tribes and still struggling. We're different people and can never reason alike

As a current MBA student, I can answer this to the best of my knowledge.

In general, STEM get more grants in the USA more than MBA and other fields because stem is more in demand according to news and rumours.

However, MBA grants varies accross schools.
For tier 1 universities, you are likely to get 100% scholarships if you have good grades. Schools like havard, MIT, Chicago booth and Co, they will ensure you are secured interms of scholarship, fellowship awards, graduate assistance, and even student loans because they know the costs are expensive and they will want you to be focused.

For tier 2 universities, which I belong to one, you can hardly get a 100% full ride for MBA. the highest you can always get is tuition free while you sort out your living expense on your own. But to get this, you must have a very strong cgpa and GRE/Gmat scores. Reason is because you are competing with several others from India, China, and other part of the world for the little available funding.

For tie 3 universities.
It doesn't worth the MBA my brother. Just like in Nigeria labour market, you either belong to first class applicant or 2.1 applicants. 2.2 and the rest are less important.
Same as tier 3 universities. You will struggle to get good jobs and they mostly don't have strong alumni bodies for job referral. As a foreigner with no legal work permit, you will struggle after graduation.
As for their grants, they mostly use lollipop method.
School fee can be $30k and they give you just $5k funding.

Thanks, I do appreciate this information
