In the wake of speculations in the media that the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC may field a Muslim-Muslim ticket in the 2023 presidential election, Governor Nasru El-Rufai of Kaduna State has urged the media to set aside religion from politics and governance in Nigeria.

El-Rufai, while speaking on the issue on Channels TV’s political show, Politics Today, stated that the media should be on the lookout for competence, capacity, capability, and deilivery and not religion.

He said, “I don’t think we should be looking at religion. We want to develop this country. When I get into a plane, I don’t ask about the religion of the pilot. When I go to the hospital, I don’t ask for the doctor’s religion of the doctor, I just want to get well. I just want to get to my destination when in an aircraft.

“The way the media and many irresponsible people try to inject religion into politics and governance is sad and pathetic, and will not take us anywhere.

He described as sad and pathetic, what he termed as fixation of Nigerians with religion instead of competence and delivery.

“Nigeria is at the crossroads. We face very serious dangers in security and economic meltdown. Global issues are affecting us and all people are concerned with as far as who will be President I or Vice President is concerned is religion. It’s so sad.

“It’s not our religion that will solve our problems. It’s the people, who are competent, that will address Nigerians’ problems, unite this country, and put it on a progressive path,” he added.

Meanwhile, El-Rufai’s name has been on the radar of a possible running-mate for the APC presidential flag bearer, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

While Tinubu and stakeholders of the ruling party intensify consultations on the choice of running-mate, other names that have been listed as likely running-mate for the APC presidential candidates are the Kebbi State Governor, Atiku Bagudu; Kano State Governor, Abdulahi Ganduje; Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong; Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Gida Mustapha and Malam Kashim Ibrahim-Imam.

But, El-Rufai has dismissed the claim, just as he described it as speculation.

He said, “I don’t engage in endless speculation. The candidate will choose his running mate. He will evaluate many factors, and the best we can do is to give him space and time and advise him and guide him to make the right choice.”

When asked how the APC Muslim-Muslim ticket would sit with Nigerians, El-Rufai said he didn’t look at the issue from the perspective of Muslim-Muslim or Christian-Christian.

“I don’t think the business of governance has to do with religion. I think we should look for the best person for the job and the person that will get the job done.

“I’m the wrong person to ask because in my state I picked a very qualified and competent woman as running-mate in the 2019 elections, but just because it happened to be a Muslim, people are calling it a Muslim-Muslim ticket, and they said we are going to lose, but we didn’t. we won overwhelmingly.”

Since the news of some portion of Mr. Femi Otedola's First bank's shares sale, the question everyone has been asking is why?

While circumstances surrounding his decision to sell off part of his FBN shares remain unclear, there are strong indications that suggest that he is moving to acquire more power stations.

There is a report from an inside source that he may have gotten approval to purchase yet another power plant that he had already shown interest in, adding to his portfolio.


Coincidental or not, this could be in connection to recent plans by the FG to find buyers in the next six months for its five National Integrated Power Projects (NIPP), including Omotosho Generation Company, Olorunsogo Generation Company Limited, Benin Generation Company Limited, Geregu Generation Company Limited, and Calabar Generation Company Limited.

Moreover, it is important to note that, this is not the first time he has resulted in selling off his shares in major companies for a similar purpose. In 2019 the billionaire sold Forte Oil, to acquire the majority stake in Geregu Power Plc, through his investment vehicle, Amperion Power Distribution Company Limited.



Hence, It is only logical that to take advantage of yet another opportunity, the billionaire decided to sell off N7.96 billion worth of shares from his investment in First Bank of Nigeria (FBN), almost seven months after he acquired a 7.56% stake in the financial institution, that saw him become the highest shareholder.

In total, he has now disposed of more than 800 million shares bringing his stake in FBN from 7.56% to 5.24%. It is also worthy of note that before initiating the sales, he had gained N3 billion on his investment with the FBN.

However true or false this speculation is, the fact remains that Otedola has over the years continued to invest in the power sector with more than $1 billion so far invested in Geregu Power Plant.

Therefore, it is most likely that he is planning yet another major buy into the power sector as figures from his share sales are not far-fetched from what it cost to purchase another power plant.

Former Big Brother Naija housemate, Liquorose has revealed that her boyfriend who was also a housemate in the Shine Ya Eye edition, Emmanuel cheated on her.
Liquorose who made this known during the reunion show on Friday narrated that she caught Emmanuel and an unknown lady in his room in Dubai.

Some fans had predicted that their relationship had hit the rocks, especially with Emmanuel’s absence from Liquorose’s birthday party in March.

Confirming the incident, Liquorose accused Emmanuel of disrespecting, lying and cheating while they had a relationship.

She explained that she walked in on Emmanuel in a very compromising position with another lady during their Dubai trip in November 2021.


Liquorose said she had wanted to surprise Emmanuel but when she went to his room, it took him 15 minutes to open the door.

The President Muhammadu Buhari’s spokesperson, Femi Adesina, has given reasons his principal refused to impose any presidential aspirant on the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Ahead of the APC special convention, Buhari had said that he has a candidate of his choice.

However, the president eventually urged everyone to allow party delegates to decide, stressing that he has no anointed candidate.

Another appealing alternative is the Camp Nou terrace, which costs between €6000 and €7000 depending on attendance and allows guests to get up close and personal with one of the great grounds in world football.

Customers get six hours of use in their chosen space, as well as assistance from a hostess and cleaning before and after.

Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Abdulrasheed Bawa, has said that real estates are safe haven of money launderers.



Speaking on Thursday June 9, while receiving the president of the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors Valuers (NIESV), Emmanuel Wike, Bawa narrated how they discovered a retired civil servant built a University in Kaduna.

He said;



“Just last month, we discovered a retired civil servant built a University in Kaduna and nobody, including your members, reported such transactions.

‘’So, I’m still bold to say that the real estate sector is one of the easiest places for money launderers. That’s why we’re empowering SCUML with all the necessary tools to enable us achieve our mandate, so whatever we are doing is backed by the law”

Bawa urged members of the NIESV to comply with extant laws regulating their practices by furnishing the EFCC with full details of suspicious transactions in line with the Money Laundering Prevention and Prohibition Act (2022).



Wike who praised the EFCC for prosecuting high profile corrupt individuals, assured the anti-graft agency that his members would collaborate with the EFCC by exposing the bad eggs in the profession.

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has reappointed his immediate past Chief of Staff, Chukwuemeka Woke.



The Governor relieved Woke of his appointment as Chief of Staff on May 14, 2022, when he dissolved the State Executive Council.



The Special Assistant Media to the Governor on Media, Kelvin Ebiri, announced Woke’s reappointment in a statement on Thursday, June 9.

Kogi state governor, Yahaya Bello, has been caught on camera, ignoring APC chiarman, Abdullahi Adamu, during the party's presidential primaries currently holding in Abuja.



Recall that on Monday June 6, Senator Abdullahi Adamu announced Senate President Ahmed Lawan as the consensus presidential candidate of the Party, and this did not sit well with some of the party delegates.

Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has described the terror attack on innocent worshipers at St Francis Catholic Church, Owa-luwa Street, Owo, as a massacre and horrific.



Governor Akeredolu, who visited the scene, noted that the attack was the most dastardly act that could happen in any society.



Aside the scene of the attack, Governor Akeredolu also visited the hospitals where survivors of the unprovoked attack are receiving medical attention.



He was also at the palace of the Olowo of Owo, Oba Gbadegesin Ogunoye, to condole with the monarch over the sad incident.



Akeredolu was joined by members of the state executive council led by the Secretary to the state government, Princess Oladunni Odu.



The Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Ondo, Bishop Jude Arogundade, also visited the scene with the Governor.



"What has happened here today is tragic. No better way to qualify it. It is the most tragic event! Horrific! What we have seen in America is a child play to what has happened here," he said.

ATTACK ON ST. FRANCIS XAVIER CATHOLIC CHURCH, OWO, ONDO STATE NIGERIA

It is Pentecost Sunday, a time every Catholic is expected to be in Church to commemorate the Solemnity. It is so sad to say that while the Holy Mass was going on, men of unknown origin, wielding guns attacked St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Owo, Ondo State. Many are feared dead and many others injured and the Church violated. The identity of the perpetrators remains unknow while the situation has left the community devastated.

However, for now, security agencies have been deployed to the community to relatively handle the situation. At this point in the history of our dear country Nigeria, we need God’s ultimate intervention to restore peace and tranquillity.

Meanwhile, all the Priests in the parish are safe and none was kidnapped as the social media has it. The Bishop of the Diocese is also with them at this trying time. Let us continue to pray for them and the good people of Owo and the state at large.


We turn to God to console the families of those whose lives were lost in this distressing incident, and we pray for the departed souls to rest in peace. Amen.

The Bishop appeals that we remain calm, be law abiding and pray for peace and normalcy to return to our community, state and country.

The Northern Governors Forum have called for the 2023 presidency to shift to the South.



In a statement released on Saturday, June 4, at least 11 All Progressives Congress (APC) governors said the search for Buhari’s successor should be limited to the South.



“APC governors and political leaders from the northern states of Nigeria today met to review the political situation and to further support our Party in providing progressive leadership amidst our national challenges. During our discussions, we welcomed President Muhammadu Buhari’s invitation to governors and other stakeholders to contribute to the emergence of a strong presidential candidate for the APC.

After careful deliberation, we wish to state our firm conviction that after eight years in office of President Muhammadu Buhari, the presidential candidate of the APC for the 2023 elections should be one of our teeming members from the southern states of Nigeria. It is a question of honour for the APC, an obligation that is not in anyway affected by the decisions taken by another political party. We affirm that upholding this principle is in the interest of building a stronger, more united and more progressive country.

Presidential spokesperson, Femi Adesina said Buhari will be travelling to Ghana for the Extraordinary Summit of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government.



The political leaders will be deliberating on the political situation in Mali and other parts of the sub-region.

Kayode Fayemi, the governor of Ekiti and a presidential hopeful, says he has not abandoned his campaign for Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.
After a closed-door meeting, the Fayemi campaign organization said this in response to claims that he was pressured into dropping his presidential bid for vice president.

The insinuation was described as “absolute rubbish” by Femi Ige, a spokesman for the campaign organization, in a statement released on Friday.

Ige claimed that the chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) is “well-positioned” in the APC and has the support of “real stakeholders” (APC).

“[It is] absolute rubbish. No meeting took place between us and any aspirant about stepping down,” the statement reads.

“We are undoubtedly among the leading aspirants for the position and one to watch in the race.

Veteran Nollywood actor, John Okafor, better known as Mr Ibu has finally arrested the undisclosed colleague who hacked his social media pages.
Taking to his Instagram page to make the announcement, Ibu’s daughter, Chioma Jasmine who penned the post stated that the actor has been nabbed and his case is in the police station.

She stated that the actor has confessed to having indulged in the act but the reason for his action is yet to be known.

The post reads:

The Labour Party (LP) Presidential candidate, Peter Obi, on Wednesday said the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) would not win the 2023 election because the parties “have expired and lost their political relevance in the country.”
He said this while speaking with journalists shortly after a meeting with leaders and members of the Labour Party in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital.

Obi who recently resigned his membership of the main opposition party, said the PDP stepped out of fortune and victory following its refusal to zone the Presidential ticket to the South.

Speaking through his campaign Director General, Dr. Doyin Okupe, Obi berated the PDP for being “unrighteous and unjust” by jettisoning the zoning arrangement of the party.

According to him, those who opposed zoning in the PDP undermined the the existence of the PDP and the violated the gentleman agreement of the founding fathers of the party.



Obi said, he is banking on Nigeria’s workforce, youths, market women to beat both the APC and the PDP at the 2023 general elections.

He said:-
“The PDP was a veritable party that was put together by our elders and leaders. Those who came yesterday and said rotation does not matter undermine the very essence of the existence of the PDP, the moment they took that step, the PDP stepped out of line of fortune, of future, of victory because it has become suddenly unrighteous and unjust.

“There is no unrighteous and unjust pillar that will stand. The PDP was a good platform, but it has expired. The APC was never a good platform, it is of no consequence. The two parties are out, these two parties have expired, they are not relevance to the new things that Nigerians and the youths are looking for.

“Labour party in the scheme of things is still a very small party, but we are not unaware of that before we moved here. But the Labour Party is a sleeping giant. The potential electorate reservoir of Labour Party is more than three times the membership of APC and PDP put together. NLC, TUC, NURTW, market women, professional bodies, students are all part of Labour Party.

“The NLC has a membership of about 5 million, the TUC has a membership of about 8 to 10 million, the number of students registered in the Federal universities is about 2.5 million, those who are not in the Federal universities are about 6.7 million, when you add all that together, you are looking at about 20 reserved voters that have direct affiliation with Labour Party.

“Our strategy will be to reawake the Nigerian workers. Nigeria is going to see something it has not seen before, we will beat APC and PDP pants down.”
