Nairaland / General / Leukocyte's Journey As OOU Student Union Social Director by Healthblog123(m): 2:55am On Apr 29
Patane Joshua Victory, also known as Leukocyte, has had a remarkable journey as the Student Union Social Director of Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU). His story is one of perseverance, dedication, and a passion for student representation and advocacy.

Early Struggles (2019)

In 2019, Leukocyte began his academic journey at Olabisi Onabanjo University as a freshman. Like many students, he faced various challenges during this period, including adapting to the university's academic rigor, making new friends, and finding his place in the community [[1]](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Olabisi_Onabanjo_University).

Despite these obstacles, Leukocyte's passion for student representation and advocacy started to emerge. He actively participated in clubs and societies, seeking ways to contribute to the betterment of his fellow students' lives. This early commitment laid the foundation for his future leadership roles.

Rise to Prominence

As Leukocyte continued his academic journey, his dedication to student welfare became increasingly evident. He took on leadership positions in several student organizations, including the Students' Representative Council (SRC). Through these roles, he gained valuable experience in organizing events, managing resources, and addressing students' concerns.

In 2023, Leukocyte contested for the office of the SUG Social Director and lost the election to his opponent. All of that didn’t weigh him down as he continued with his push and strive for the office with his desperation for student welfarism at heart.

The Road to the Social Director Position

In 2024, Leukocyte announced his candidacy for the position of Student Union Social Director the second time. This decision was not without its challenges, as he faced stiff competition from seasoned politicians and well-established factions. However, Leukocyte's unwavering belief in his vision for the university and his dedication to serving the student body propelled him forward.

Leukocyte's campaign focused on promoting inclusivity, organizing engaging social events, and creating a vibrant campus culture. His ability to connect with students and address their concerns resonated with the electorate, leading to his successful election as the Student Union Social Director.

As the current Social Director, Leukocyte is committed to fulfilling his promises and serving the student community dutifully. His journey from facing early struggles to reaching his current position is a testament to his hard work, resilience, and determination.

Overall, Leukocyte's ascent as Olabisi Onabanjo University's Student Union Social Director showcases his dedication to student welfare and his ability to overcome challenges to make a positive impact on campus life.

Education / Re: Facts About Alkanes by Healthblog123(m): 11:34pm On Oct 13, 2017
Healthblog123:
Alkanes are the first family of hydrocarbons. They are saturated hydrocarbons. They are usually stable at room temperature (25`C) towards reactants such as concentrated aqueous acids and bases. They have the general formula CnH2n+2, where "n" is the number of carbon atoms. So, when there are just three (3) carbon atoms, the formula of such alkane will be C3H2(3)+2, which is: C3H8.
Alkanes are represented as R--H or R--R', where R and R' represent alkyl groups such as CH3.
.
IUPAC RULES FOR NAMING THE ALKANES
1. The name ending for all alkanes (and cycloalkanes) is -ane.
2. The parent chain is the longest continuous chain of carbons in the structure.
3. A prefix that specifies the number of carbon atoms in the parent chain is attached to the name ending, -ane.
4. If two different chains of equal length are present, chose the one with the greater number of branch points also called substituents.

Other department might be good but non like science. In nigeria schools science students are greatly respected mostly in my secondary school days.
I, as a scientist will advice you to keep it up if you are in science class, but don't forget to follow your talent.

Health / Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) by Healthblog123(m): 11:47pm On Oct 04, 2017
What is HIV?
HIV is a virus that attacks the immune system, which is our body’s natural defence against illness. The virus destroys a type of white blood cell in the immune system called a T-helper cell, and makes copies of itself inside these cells. T-helper cells are also referred to as CD4 cells.
As HIV destroys more CD4 cells and makes more copies of itself, it gradually breaks down a person’s immune system. This means someone living with HIV, who is not receiving treatment, will find it harder and harder to fight off infections and diseases.
If HIV is left untreated, it may take up to 10 or 15 years for the immune system to be so severely damaged it can no longer defend itself at all. However, the speed HIV progresses will vary depending on age, health and background.
Basic facts about HIV
*.HIV stands for human immunodeficiency virus.
*.There is effective antiretroviral treatmentavailable so people with HIV can live a normal, healthy life.
*.The earlier HIV is diagnosed, the sooner treatment can start – leading to better long term health.
*.HIV is found in semen, blood, vaginal and anal fluids, and breast milk.
*.HIV cannot be transmitted through sweat, saliva or urine.
*.Using male condomsor female condomsduring sex is the best way to prevent HIV and other sexually transmitted infections.
*.If you inject drugs, always use a clean needle and syringe, and never share equipment.
*.If you are pregnantand living with HIV, the virus in your blood could pass into your baby’s body, or after giving birth through breastfeeding. Taking HIV treatmentvirtually eliminates this risk.
What is AIDS?
AIDS is not a virus but a set of symptoms(or syndrome) caused by the HIV virus. A person is said to have AIDS when their immune system is too weak to fight off infection, and they develop certain defining symptoms and illnesses. This is the last stage of HIV, when the infection is very advanced, and if left untreated will lead to death.
Basic facts about AIDS
*.AIDS stands for acquired immune deficiency syndrome.
*.AIDS is also referred to as advanced HIV infection or late-stage HIV.
*.AIDS is a set of symptoms and illnesses that develop as a result of advanced HIV infection which has destroyed the immune system.
*.Treatment for HIV means that more people are staying well, with fewer people developing AIDS.
Although there is currently no cure for HIVwith the right treatment and support, people with HIV can live long and healthy lives. To do this, it is especially important to take treatment correctly and deal with any possible side-effects.

Health / How To Come Up With A Succersful Health Blog by Healthblog123(m): 1:58am On Oct 03, 2017
What does it take to become a successful food and health blogger? With over 107,000 Instagram followers, a hugely popular blogand a bestselling book under her belt, nutritionist Jessica Sepel has fast-become one of the most qualified people to ask on the subject.
We caught up with the pro to talk all things blogging - from what it really takes to build the requisite following and respect to turn a passion into a full blown career, to the power of social media, here are her top tips for ensuring your blog not only stands out from the rest, but also stands the test of time too.
Getting started...
Have a strong relatable message
“I started in a very organic way. My blog was just a personal story that I was just writing on WordPress. It was really just for me - a diary of how I was healing. I would say start with that - you need to have a story for people to relate with. You can’t be a practitioner sitting on your pedestal dictating to people what to do - we’re on the journey together. I view it like I'm holding their hands supporting them."
Identify your intention
“The intention has to be pure and honest. My intention, honestly, has never been to be a successful business or to make money. I studied health and nutrition for 5 years and my intentions have always been, a) how I can make women build a healthier relationship with food and b) teaching people how to eat well and how to de-stress."
Be unique
“Have a powerful message. Complicated relationships with food, eating disorders, extreme fad dieting, restriction, feeling guilty - they’re all such big issues now. I’m talking about them so I guess that’s what’s keeping the blog successful. I’m talking about things that are relevant and probably a little bit shameful which some women are uncomfortable to talk about. I want to allow them to feel more comfortable talking about them and dealing with them by providing the right tools and steps. I think that’s what makes a blog successful - when you’re actually helping people. You’re not going to have a successful blog if it’s all about you. It’s got to be about actually making a difference and asking yourself how you’re going to help people through your website."
Get qualifications
“I really encourage people to study health and nutrition because this industry is getting so inundated now - I can’t imagine what it’s going to be like in 5 to 10 years time and what’s going to differentiate myself from another blogger. A good health blogger is one that has qualifications in my opinion. Before I studied my Bachelor of Health, I remember asking my mum whether I could just do a Diploma in Nutrition as I was so desperate and passionate to get into the industry and start practicing. I thought that as I’d I grown up in a really healthy family, I knew my stuff and that I didn’t need to study for 5 years. However, my family really encouraged me to study and I think it is the reason my blog is respected, because I took that time.
“A lot of people are rushing into it, but I worry that in 5, 10 years’ time, they’re not going to be respected or have the profile that they would have had had they studied. It’s a long-term thing. If I’d started practicing then, without having all those years of study, I just don’t think I would have been that good. I wouldn’t have had the knowledge then that I do now.”
Don’t be afraid to be vulnerable
“I think one of the reasons the blog has done so well is that they can feel my authenticity. I’m not trying to be something I’m not and I’m really honest that I’m still trying to figure it out. I haven’t got all the answers yet - I still struggle, but I talk about it and I’m not afraid to be vulnerable. You have to be willing to be.
“Your intention as a blogger has to be to create a community where people don’t feel alone in whatever you’re talking about. Every day when I’m uploading an Instagram or a blog post, I’m thinking how I can create a community of support.”
Good content is key
“Your content has to be good - that’s everything. Personally, if I see one post that is bad quality or is repetitive, I’m just not going to read it. Be in touch with what content to create. If your community is loving your posts on emotional eating, you need to create more content about that.”
Don’t be afraid to say no
“Saying no when you’re out of your depth is a good tip. Even now, although I’m qualified, I’m still very careful. I’m only going to comment on things that I feel confident about. A TV show asked me recently to comment on diabetes and, although I am qualified to talk about it and give information, I don’t specialise in diabetes in my clinic. I feel that I know when to say no now and I feel protective of myself. People and the interviewer can feel it when you’re not in your zone of comfort. So it’s better to decline opportunities if you don’t feel comfortable.
“I feel people respect that more rather than me giving an average response. Don’t feel like you need to have all the answers - let people be good in their niche and their particular part of the health world. I know I’m really good at emotional eating, nutrition and recipes and lifestyle advice for example, so I focus on that."
Carry on studying
“I’m very committed to carrying on studying. I interned for a doctor when I was studying and when I finished he said, ‘Take it from me, never stop studying.’ I’ve really taken that on board, so I attend every nutrition seminar in Australia and take every possible opportunity I get to go to a health course or hear a mentor, nutritionist or doctor speak. I’m really committed to staying up to date with new information to keep me one step ahead and also, by staying connected with my community.”
Keep on top of your stats
“Every week, my assistant looks at my blog stats to see which media posts are doing well and which aren't doing well and how many people are unfollowing me on Instagram and what triggered that and why."
Have a balanced approach towards healthy eating
“My second book which I’ve just completed is about orthorexia. My goal is to really help women and I’m fighting against the extreme, even with healthy eating. There’s a chapter in my book about indulgence - I think indulgence, e.g. eating ice cream at the weekend and having a glass of wine with a friend, is part of a healthy life. Orthorexia is a fear of imperfect eating, a fear of not eating anything but healthy food which is dangerous. My blog and books are about balance with food and I encourage the 80:20 rule - 20% is imperfect eating. You have to become a flexible eater and be able to adapt to your environment - just do the best you can. I think part of a healthy life is being ok with imperfect eating at times. Relaxing with food is as important as eating healthy food and I would say that rigidity, restriction and deprivation are not part of a healthy lifestyle. You’re meant to have joy with food and you’re not meant to fixate with it in that way. It’s there to nourish us and keep us alive and well and that’s it. It’s not meant to be an obsession and it can’t be based on an emotional dependency, i.e. reward and punishment.
"My second book is about going past all these fad diets and extreme ways of eating as they never last. It’s confusing and when we get confused or overwhelmed, we get demotivated. When it's maintainable, sustainable and gentle and you make one change a week instead of say, giving up carbs forever, it’s not as daunting. People tend to follow it better. My goal is to really fight against this extreme way of eating and I genuinely care about it."
Education / Success Is Not By Chance But By Choice by Healthblog123(m): 1:34am On Oct 03, 2017
Everyone in this earth are used to the saying ‘nobody’s better than others, we’re all the same’. Is this actually true? How can you say that when some people get richer while others get poorer? Is there any compliment point missing? Read this post to learn if we’re all equal or there’s inequality in life
We humans all have complete single body. There’s no human with two brains in one head. Even some incomplete humans don’t let their disabilities to weigh them down. The only thing that makes us different from one another is our mind; How we use, where we put and what we do with it.
A friend of mine asked me why she scored average in her exams while others scored very high. She asked why she couldn’t attain such score. I answered her with a question ‘where’s your mind?’. It’s actually a question everyone should ask themselves. Take this instance:
There’s a standing fan, a phone and a microwave on the floor. You were asked to pick each of them back to their normal positions.
The best thing to do in this instance, is to pick each items one at a time to their respective positions. What if you decided carrying all at once? How easy could it be? That’s actually the difference in our minds. Life is filled with unlimited choice of activities. It’s what you do today that’ll define your tomorrow.
A young person who puts all his mind on books would have excellent grades. Another who puts his mind on girlfriends would have low grades. What if there’s someone with divided mind as he focuses not just on books but also on girlfriends? Of course, although his score would be higher than the guy who puts his own mind on girlfriends, his score won’t be high as the other that reads only
The simple word for everything this post is trying to explain is priority. It’s your priorities that define you. An engineer isn’t better than a driver because of his job. He’s only better if the driver don’t have single focus. If that driver starts planning for his future, one day he’ll own buses and cars which the engineer would repair. That’s life for you.
It’s what’s on your mind that’ll define you. I’ve seen a deaf and dumb man who makes slippers. He’s happily married with three Kids and living in his own house. How can a man not just with disabilities but also just a shoe maker be able to build his own house? He’s able to attain these things because he focused on succeeding.
Let’s use a drink hawker for instance. Everyone knows that the shops they buy their drinks from have more gains in selling to them than they sell to people. What if the hawker decides to start saving so she’ll get her own fridge so she’ll be able to buy drinks in wholesale and cool them by herself? Doing this, she’ll get much more gain than before.
Let’s not stop there. She continues saving and now buys more than she could sell then later starts selling drinks to fellow hawkers.
In this way, she now earns faster. Then now with all the gains, she decides to open her own shop so she doesn’t have to hawk anymore. Now what’s the difference between her and the other hawkers? While the other hawkers are thinking about just today, her mind was in a successful future.
Thoughts and decisions are what led rich men to where they are now. Idleness and laziness are what led poor men where they are now.
In a nutshell, no one’s generally better than someone else. It’s the variation of our minds that bring outcome.
Don’t let life’s stress to overpower you. Stress makes you slow in every aspect of life. Just keep going. The two major obstacles that keeps people from achieving their goals are anxiety and time. Been anxious of how to cope when you’re completing a goal and the consideration of how long it would take to complete the goal.
Now who’s better in life? Is there inequality in life? Everyone should be unique in their own ways so we can’t judge who’s better between two people if they’re on different routes in life. But we definitely can judge them according to their focus.

• So many families going through divert threats of collapse,
• So many children are loosing it because of their family issues,
• Many are scared of marriage because they have seen enough in their family.
From experience I have seen a lot and infact it could make a novel.
I don’t know how you are reading this article today, either as a wife or husband, as a mother or father or even a child.
One thing I want you to know is that your family no matter the crisis at hand can be better again.
There is no storm that remains for life, it comes and definitely goes.
From afar, people look at your family and envy you with the hope that you are doing fine, unknowing to them that a lot is going on underground.
There are so many family issues that I can’t even mention all in this post, I have heard about
1. Lack of Trust and Understanding among parents lead to family war
2. I have seen infidelity on the wife or husband part cause chaos in the family
3. I have seen family issues spring up as a result of inheritance
4. Family problems have been raised due to spiritual attacks
5. Some is as a result of hatred from In-laws
6. Some comes with the problem of being a single parent.
7. Some because of poor financial status.
When the family crash the community crashes, when the community crashes, the local government crashes and it continues like this, not only the country will crash but world will be made desolate.
It is a pity that so many children a going crazy because of their family problems,
They are not free with friends because of the war seated at home,
Some has become lifeless and street wards because of a family issue that never ended.
No matter who you are and what you are in your family today, as far as you are reading this article today, I put it to you that the responsibility of restoring your family to the normal position is on you.
You are not reading this by mistake, it is because God has you to use for your family.
You are not made to go through emotional trauma,
It is not interesting to live around problems,
Somebody needs to stand and take responsibility. Somebody can be an agent of change and it now not just one person, it is one man/woman to his/her family and it is you to your family.
There is need for the restoration of that peace and joy that things started with,
Marriage or family is not to be endured,
It is your right to be happy and joyful in it.
I won’t want to talk on a large aspect and not hit the point.
The must be a solution and it is before you, of you can embrace it, you will be grateful to yourself forever.
Don’t shy away from this, take the bull by the horn, if your parents are weak or are not in good terms take the responsibility of bringing them back, if things crashes finally, you might not forgive yourself.
It is a call to action.
I want to specific in my answers and meet your demand so let’s make it easy, just drop. Comment on the issues your family is going through and I will reply you immediately with optimum follow up.
I would have talked generally on how to tackle it but I might not cover your own issue because I don’t know it.
You can remain anonymous, don’t take a second thought, let’s end it now

Health / Gonorrhea Transmission by Healthblog123(m): 7:23pm On Oct 02, 2017
What is gonorrhea?
Highlights
Some people may never develop noticeable symptoms.
Gonorrhea is usually treated with an antibiotic injection or oral antibiotics.
You’re at a higher risk of contracting gonorrhea if you’ve had any other STDs.
Gonorrhea is a sexually transmitted disease (STD). It’s caused by infection with the bacterium Neisseria gonorrhoeae. It tends to infect warm, moist areas of the body, including the:
urethra (the tube that drains urine from the urinary bladder)
eyes
throat
vagina
anus
female reproductive tract(the fallopian tubes, cervix, and uterus)
Gonorrhea passes from person to person through unprotectedoral, anal, or vaginal sex. People with numerous sexual partners or those who don’t use a condom are at greatest risk of infection. The best protections against infection are abstinence, monogamy (sex with only one partner), and proper condom usage. Behaviors that make a person more likely to engage in unprotected sex also increase the likelihood of infection. These behaviors include alcohol abuseand illegal drug abuse, particularly intravenous drug use.
Symptoms
Symptoms of gonorrhea
Symptoms usually occur within two to 14 days after exposure. However, some people infected with gonorrhea never develop noticeable symptoms. It’s important to remember that a person with gonorrhea who doesn’t have symptoms, also called a nonsymptomatic carrier, is still contagious. A person is more likely to spread the infection to other partners when they don’t have noticeable symptoms.Symptoms in men
Menmay not develop noticeable symptoms for several weeks. Some men may never develop symptoms.
Typically, the infection begins to show symptoms a week after its transmission. The first noticeable symptom in men is often a burning or painful sensation during urination. As it progresses, other symptoms may include:
greater frequency or urgency of urination
a pus-like discharge (or drip) from the penis (white, yellow, beige, or greenish)
swelling or redness at the opening of the penis
swellingor painin the testicles
a persistent sore throat
The infection will stay in the body for a few weeks after the symptoms have been treated. In rare instances, gonorrhea can continue to cause damage to the body, specifically the urethra and testicles. Pain may also spread to the rectum.Symptoms in women
Many womendon’t develop any overt symptoms of gonorrhea. When women do develop symptoms, they tend to be mild or similar to other infections, making them more difficult to identify. Gonorrhea infections can appear much like common vaginal yeastor bacterial infections.
Symptoms include:
dischargefrom the vagina (watery, creamy, or slightly green)
pain or burning sensation while urinating
the need to urinate more frequently
heavier periodsor spotting
sore throat
painupon engaging in sexual intercourse
sharp pain in the lower abdomen
fever
Testing
Tests for gonorrhea
Healthcare professionals can diagnose gonorrhea infection in several ways. They can take a sample of fluid from the symptomatic area with a swab (penis, vagina, rectum, or throat) and place it on a glass slide. If your doctor suspects a joint or blood infection, he or she will obtain the sample by drawing bloodor inserting a needle into the symptomatic joint to withdraw fluid. They will then add a stain to the sample and examine it under a microscope. If cells react to the stain, you most likely have a gonorrhea infection. This method is relatively quick and easy, but it doesn’t provide absolutely certainty. This test may also be completed by a lab technologist.
A second method involves taking the same type of sample and placing it on a special dish. This will be incubated under ideal growth conditions for several days. A colony of gonorrhea bacteria will grow if gonorrhea is present.
A preliminary result may be ready within 24 hours. A final result will take up to three days.
Complications
Complications of gonorrhea
Women are at greater risk of long-term complications from untreated infections. Untreated infection with gonorrhea in women may ascend up the female reproductive tract and involve the uterus, fallopian tubes, and ovaries. This condition is known as pelvic inflammatory disease (PID)and can cause severe and chronic pain and damage the female reproductive organs. PID can be caused by other sexually transmitted diseases as well. Women may also develop blocking or scarring of the fallopian tubes, which can preventfuture pregnancy or cause ectopic pregnancy. An ectopic pregnancy is when a fertilized egg implants outside the uterus. Gonorrhea infection may pass to a newborn infant during delivery.
Men may experience scarring of the urethra. Men may also develop a painful abscess in the interior of the penis. The infection can cause reduced fertility or sterility.
When gonorrhea infection spreads to the bloodstream, both men and women can experience arthritis, heart valve damage, or inflammation of the lining of the brainor spinal cord. These are rare but serious conditions.
Treatment
Treatment of gonorrhea
Modern antibiotics can cure most gonorrhea infections. Most states also provide free diagnosis and treatment at state- sponsored health clinics. At home and over-the-counter remedies
There are no at-home remedies or over-the-counter medications that will treat an infection with gonorrhea. If you suspect that you have gonorrhea, you should seek care from a healthcare professional.Antibiotics
Gonorrhea is usually treated with an antibiotic injection of Ceftriaxone one time to the buttocks or a single dose of Azithromycinby mouth. Once on antibiotics, you should feel relief within days.
The law requires healthcare professionals to report the infection, usually to the county public health department. Public health officials will identify, contact, test, and treat any sexual partners of the affected person to help prevent the spread of the infection. Health officials will also contact other people these individuals may have had sexual contact with.
The emergence of antibiotic-resistant strains of gonorrhea is a growing challenge. These cases may require more extensive treatment, with a seven-day course of an oral antibiotic or dual therapy with two different antibiotics, usually for a total of seven days of therapy. The antibiotics used for extended therapy are usually given once or twice a day. Some common antibiotics used include azithromycin and doxycycline. Scientists are working to develop vaccines to prevent gonorrhea infection.
Prevention
Prevention of gonorrhea
The safest way to preventgonorrhea or other STDs is through abstinence. If you do engage in sex, always use a condom. It’s important to be open with your sexual partners, get regular STD testing, and find out if they’ve been tested.
If your partner is showing signs of a possible infection, avoid any sexual contact with them. Ask them to seek medical attention to rule out any possible infection that can be passed on.
You’re at a higher risk of contracting gonorrhea if you’ve already had it or any other STDs. You’re also at a higher risk if you have multiple sexual partners or a new partner.
Takeaway
What to do if you have gonorrhea
If you think you may have gonorrhea, you should avoid any sexual activity. You should also contact your doctor immediately.
During your doctor’s visit, be prepared to:
detail your symptoms
discuss your sexual history
provide the contact info for previous sexual partners so that the doctor can contact them anonymously on your behalf
If you’re in contact with your sexual partner(s), let them know they should be tested immediately.
If you’re placed on antibiotics, it’s important to take the full course of pills to ensure that your infection is completely treated. Cutting your course of antibiotics short can make the bacteria more likely to develop resistance to the antibiotic. You also need to follow up with your doctor one to two weeks later to make sure that your infection has cleared.
If the results come back negative and your sexual partner is also clear of any infection, it’s possible to resume sexual activity.
What is the relationship between gonorrhea and chlamydia?
Gonorrhea and chlamydia are both bacteria that cause STDs. The risk factors are the same for both infections, and both cause similar symptoms. The complications of chlamydia are very similar to gonorrhea except chlamydia is much less likely to affect sites other than the reproductive tract. Diagnosis and treatment are virtually the same as well. If you think you may have an STD, you should see a healthcare professional. They can determine what type it is by testing you as described above, and then start proper treatment.

How to Approach a Girl For The First Time And Win her Over
.
.
.
Do you want to talk to a girl you don’t know? Here are few sure fire ways on how to approach a girl that will definitely help you make a great first impression.
Many guys find it difficult approaching a lady which I will say shouldn’t be. Most guys approach ladies but with the wrong methodology and this is why they get a NO for an answer.
There are certain things to put in place via observation and study of the lady in question. Walking up to a girl you’ve never spoken to before is like taking a dip in icy water.
It makes you nervous. Your heart starts beating faster than you can count. And your stomach inches closer to your tongue with each step you take.
But as a guy, knowing how to approach a girl is one of the most important things to know in the dating world.
Now I’m not going to make this any more difficult than you already assume it to be. Yes, talking to a girl who’s a stranger is not easy. But then again, if you know just how to do it without appearing like you’re picking her up, you’ll realize just how easy the whole game can be.
How to approach a girl you don’t know Forget pick up lines, forget bumping into her, and every other *smart* move you’ve heard.
I’ll teach you to keep it simple, and help you win her heart even before you say‘hello’. Here’s the only tip that matters and you need to remember it for the rest of your dating life. Always let the girl know you want to talk to her before you even talk to her. Don’t make the mistake of approaching a girl out of the blue and asking her out. It almost always never works, unless you’re a smooth talker with the gift of gab.
If you’re a regular joe who wants to turn into a chick magnet, just follow these steps and you’ll win her attention before you finish your drink!
1. Getting her attention :
You need to let the girl know you’re going to approach her. So warm her up to that idea to begin with by using these steps.
I) Glance at her.
Look at her now and then just to let her know that you’re trying to catch her attention. Be sneaky and discreet, and always look away just as soon as she catches your eye. You’ll arouse her curiosity and that’ll force her to look at you now and then to see if you’re still watching her.
II) The eye contact.
Each time she looks at you, look at her and immediately look away sheepishly. Continue to look at her now and then, and once in a while, lock your gaze at her for a small fraction of a second and look away again. By doing this, you’re already building the sexual attraction. But if she doesn’t reciprocate here, she’s probably not interested in you.
III) Appear awkward.
If you’re with your friends, look at her now and then, but appear like your distracted and not able to focus on the conversation you’re having with your friends. By doing that, you’re making her see that she’s on your mind and you’re too distracted to focus on your friends. That’s subtle flattery!
IV) Smile at her.
Exchange eye contact now and then, one or two times every minute and no more than that, and when you feel pretty courageous, flash a tiny smile from the corner of your lip for a second, and let her notice your smile.
Don’t give her a big grin though, a malicious big grin at this stage will scare any girl away.
These moves are all about building the connection and letting her know you’re interested in her. And at the same time, it’ll also help you understand if she too is really interested in you. If she responds to your gestures similarly, it’s a sign that she’s interested in talking to you too. But if she starts ignoring you at any point here, she’s probably not interested in you and you need to make your luck somewhere else.
2. How to start talking to the girl
Now that you’ve built the attraction and the chemistry, all you need to do is walk up to her and say something. Use these tips to approach her and start the right conversation.
V) Waiting for the moment.
Sometimes, all you need to do is wait for the girl to give you a chance to talk to her. If she’s really interested in you and wants to talk to you, she’d create enough opportunities for you to walk up to her. She could do this by walking to the ladies room alone, stepping away from her friends by answering a phone call, or even by just smiling at you and leaving the place.
It’s always easier to talk to a girl when she’s by herself. There are no distractions from her friends or awkward moments because she’s already expecting you to approach her. [Read: Things you can say to a girl while talking to her for the first time]
