Health / Diabetes: Spot It And Manage It by healthexamined: 12:50pm On Jun 22, 2017
We shall be discussing Diabetes today because it’s becoming a growing issue within the society.

Now we begin to ask ourselves what really causes diabetes. Scientists believe lots of factor can cause it and some of these factors include environment factors, residence, genetic, lifestyle and also diet.

It is to be noted that in West Africa, diabetes is more common among the wealthy and that is why people call it “disease of opulence,” and it’s common in the urban areas because they tend to eat foods that contain too much fats and refined sugar and hardly have time for physically exercise.

Diabetes or diabetes mellitus is a “metabolic disorder caused by different factors characterized by a chronic high level of blood sugar with disturbances to carbohydrate, fat, and protein metabolism resulting from defects in insulin secretion, insulin action, or both.

Scientists have divided diabetes into four types namely;

1 Type 1 diabetes mellitus or insulin dependent diabetes mellitus (IDDM) or type 1 diabetes, is also known as juvenile onset diabetes.

2 Type 2 diabetes mellitus (noninsulin dependent diabetes mellitus (NIDDM), or type 2 diabetes – adult-onset diabetes) is found in individuals
who are insulin-resistant and who usually have relative insulin deficiency.

3 Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is defined as any degree of glucose intolerance with onset or first recognition during pregnancy.

4 Tropical diabetes, tropical diabetes mellitus is not common and is thought to be related to malnutrition.

Type 2 Diabetes is caused when the pancreas stops producing enough of the hormone insulin, which helps us absorb blood sugar and turn it into energy, or when the body doesn't use it properly.

Lots of people are prone to develop type 2 diabetes especially those that are overweight, people over 20 years and people who have it in their family.

Signs of diabetes include slow healing of wounds, peeing too frequent, being thirsty too often, and feeling very tired when little work is done and blurred vision.

Type 2 Diabetes in the long run can cause total blindness, it can damage the nerve, it can lead to stroke and high chance of having a heart attack.

This is why it’s always good to pop into any government Hospital every 3 months for a test. People with recurrent high blood sugar level for years are prone to have type 2 Diabetes.

People with type 1 Diabetes are in a safer situation compare to people with type 2, type 1 means the pancreas is not producing any insulin and people with type 1 has to watch their sugar level very closely and needs to inject insulin when needed because once left uncontrolled it will surely lead to type 2 Diabetes

HOW TO SPOT THE SIGNS OF DIABETES

As symptoms develop gradually, many people have Type 2 Diabetes for years before they're diagnosed.  The only way to know whether you have it is to get tested.  So if you're experiencing any of the following symptoms, you could be at risk:

1 Always feeling thirsty
2 Going to the toilet more often
3 Always feeling tired
4 Being overweight
5 Experiencing blurred history
6 Losing weight for no apparent reason
7 Suffering from frequent infections
8 Experiencing numbness in the hands and feet
9 Having high blood pressure
10 Slow healing wounds

HOW TO MANAGE TO TYPE 2 DIABETES

There is good news - it can in some cases be prevented. And even if you do develop the condition, it may be able to be controlled by a combination of good diet, losing weight (if you're overweight) and exercise. Some people do require medication to help control their blood glucose levels.

Health / Health Risk Of Drying Laundry Indoors by healthexamined: 11:56am On Jun 15, 2017
Today we shall be sharing the dangers of drying laundry indoors and this is a topic we seriously need to create awareness for especially now that we are in the rainy season.

Here comes the rainy season where most people find it difficult to dry cloths outside due to daily down pour,  many have resort to indoor drying as an alternative without knowing the health risk of drying laundry indoors.

Moist environments create conducive breeding space for mould, which then releases spores hereby causing asthma attack or triggers allergic reactions.

Our elderly parents, Young children, and people with suppressed immune systems, may be particularly at risk.

It is advisable we dry our laundry outside where possible and keep our homes ventilated in-order to prevent mould from building up.

TIPS ON HOW TO DRY YOUR LAUNDRY

Avoid airing damp clothes indoors if possible.
Keep windows open or use extractor fans to ventilate your home.
Regularly wash mould off hard surfaces with a mix of vinegar, soap and water.
Use humidifiers or air purifiers to reduce humidity if necessary.
Keep air conditioner and heating filters clean and dry.
Fix leaks and moisture problems as they arise.
Source: RTE

WHY IS IT A RISK?

Pheena Kenny, health promotion manager of the Asthma Society of Ireland, said: 'Moist environments encourage the growth of mould which can release 'seeds' called spores.

'The spores can cause allergic reactions in some people.

'But for some people with asthma who are sensitive to mould spores, it can act as a trigger, causing asthma symptoms to get worse,'

These include young children, the elderly, people with a suppressed immune system, those with a severe form of asthma or people with skin problems, such as eczema.

What can we do to prevent this?

Ms Kenny recommends we dry our laundry outdoors where possible or in well-ventilated rooms away from living spaces.

It is to be noted that mould grows in damp environments e.g. bathrooms and kitchens

Always keep your rooms ventilated. It’s advisable to always open windows so that mould would not be able to build up, the use of extractor fans will also prevents mould from building up.

Humidifiers or air purifiers can also help to manage humidity.

The mixture of soap, vinegar and water should be use regularly to clean hard surfaces in order to remove mould

This comes after researchers from Mount Sinai Hospital in New York revealed stressed pregnant women who are exposed to air pollution are more likely to have asthmatic children.

Boys whose mothers were exposed to both of these risk factors are more likely to develop the condition by age six, they found.

VITAMIN D IN PREGNANCY MAY PROTECT BABIES FROM ASTHMA

Taking vitamin D supplements in pregnancy strengthens babies' immune systems, which may lower their risk of developing asthma, research revealed last month.

The unborn babies of expectant mothers who take more than the recommended daily vitamin D dose for pregnant women respond better when exposed to simulated pathogens, a study found.

Previous studies have demonstrated a link between a strong immune system in early life and a reduced risk of asthma.

Researchers believe this may also extend to greater respiratory health overall.

Lead researcher Professor Catherine Hawrylowicz, from King's College London, said: 'For the first time, we have shown that higher vitamin D levels in pregnancy can effectively alter the immune response of the newborn baby, which could help to protect the child from developing asthma.'

LOW SPERM COUNT MAJOR CAUSES AND SYMPTOMS

The first sign of someone with low sperm count is its inability to impregnate a woman though there may be other reasons but that is the first and major reason.

It is a complex process for the male to be able to produce sperm because the production of sperm requires a normal functioning of the testes as well as pituitary glands and hypothalamus.

As soon as the testicles produces sperm, tubes transport the sperm until it finally mix with semen and is ejaculated via the penis. Meaning any problem with any of this process can affect the production of sperm.

The big question now is how can one know the cause of low sperm count? We are going to explain these extensively under two (2) categories, which are  Environmental causes and medical causes

Now let us start with the Environmental causes

The production of sperm can be affected by the over-exposure to some environment elements which includes;

In Nigeria studies have shown that lots of male today work on laptop by placing it on their lap whereby increasing the temperature in their scrotum and this is bound to bring about reduction in the production of sperm, also seating for a long period of time especially by bankers and some other categories of office staff can cause low sperm count. Finally the issue of wearing tight cloth all in the name of fashion can cause low sperm production.
X-ray and also exposure to radiation can cause low sperm count and it will take months – years for sperm production to come to normal if one is expose to high radiation
Male should try everything possible to stay away from lead, painting materials, pesticides, herbicides, benzenes etc because over exposure can lead to low sperm count
Certain medications also might result in ejaculatory problems, such as blood pressure medications known as alpha blockers. Some ejaculatory problems can be reversed, while others are permanent. In most cases of permanent ejaculation problems, sperm can still be retrieved directly from the testicles.
Now it’s time to discuss the medical causes of low sperm count

Have you ever for once done any surgery i.e. prostate, testicular, hernia repair or abdominal surgeries? There is a cause for alarm if you have ever done any of these because some of these may prevent one from having sperm in the ejaculation and surgery is needed to reverse these.
Certain drug: Are you a male and takes drugs too frequent? Please you need to exercise caution because some ulcer drug, antifungal/antibiotic drug and cancer drug can lead to low sperm count.

Health / Four Routes To Contact Infection by healthexamined: 8:57am On Oct 19, 2016
We all come in contact with various infections of some sort or another in one way or the other daily, though not all this infections end up manifesting as our immune system naturally acts against this infections though due to some factors this infections still break into our body. And the question on most people mind is how do infection causing pathogens gets into the body? This article is to help you understand the four major ways through which infections get into your body as knowing this can help you protect yourself in future.

Respiratory Tract: Upper respiratory infection is another name for common cold and this occurs when one of 200 cold causing viruses is breathed into your body and finds its way into your respiratory tract and lungs. Influenza, coughs, and the other airborne infections are contracted through the respiratory tract. Rhino-viruses is the most common of all viruses that can lead to colds.

Skin Breakage: Our skin performs the function of also acting as a barrier against infection protecting us day in day out from a lot of illness. Though, if you have been bitten by a bug, if you have a scratch or wounds by needles, then the germs which our skin is suppose to naturally keep out would find it's way to enter our bloodstream and begin to harm us in numerous ways. In addition to this, scrapes, cuts, or sores in the mucous membrane that lines your nose or mouth can also provide access for infections to enter your body.

Cellulitis is a potentially dangerous but common skin infection which occurs when bacteria gets into your body through a burn, bruise, wound or surgical incision. When this occurs your skin will become red, the affected area would be inflamed and it is also painful, at times you may experience fever, fatigue or chills. Using Antibiotics to treat Cellulitis in the early stages works well. Impetigo is another common skin infection which is usually caused by staph or strep bacteria, this infection is highly contagious. Impetigo is most common in children and does rarely affect adults.

Digestive Tracts: When you eat food, or drinks that are infected with bacteria or a virus they can end up infecting your stomach or bowels. Most of us must have experienced a stomach upset at one point in our life, this upset can at times reveals itself in the form of diarrhea which can also include vomiting on rare occasions. A common bacterial which is responsible for this is gastroenteritis, which is otherwise known as food poisoning. This occurs if you eat meat or poultry proceeds that have been in contact with bacteria before eating.

Urinary and Reproductive system: You can get pathogens in your body through the urinary system, like urinary tract infection, or sexually transmitted diseases. The infectious may be localized or go into your blood stream. Example most sexually transmitted diseases infects the genitals, while infections like HIV/AIDS virus, is being carried in bodily fluids thus affecting the whole body and can be further transmitted through the saliva, blood and seminal fluid.

Health / Things Men Needs To Know About Blood Pressure by healthexamined: 9:31am On Sep 27, 2016
When you visit your doctor for your annual physical, your doctor will measure your blood pressure in addition to vital signs. You must have experienced the feeling of having a blood pressure meter strapped to your arm, but most of us do not know what the readings mean. This article will help you to learn more about the blood pressure of men and the risk a high blood pressure posses.

The blood pressure of a person is determined by the actual pressure of the blood circulating against the walls of the veins, arteries, and the chambers of the persons heart. This pressure result from two factors; By the heart as it pumps blood into the arteries and secondly the force of the arteries as they resist blood flow.

Blood pressure is usually measured by the sphygmomanometer and the readings of this meter is expressed in two figures. The first is the systolic pressure which is measured when your heart is contracting, while the second is the diastolic pressure which is measured when the heart is relaxed.

To understand more about this reading you would need to know what an healthy blood pressure is. The pressure of the blood in the aorta, the large artery of the heart, and the other large arteries of a healthy adult is usually 120 mm Hg during contraction of the heart, and 80 mm Hg when the hear is relaxing.

For male adults, a normal blood pressure readings can be anywhere within 120/70 to 140/90. When the readings happen to be consistently 140/90 and above the blood pressure of such a person can be considered as being high and would indicate the need for medical intervention.

When this readings are consistently high, the patient will be diagnosed with hypertension and begin to receive treatment. Though you would also need to keep it in mind that your blood pressure changes frequently to meet your body's various needs, so it is normal for blood pressure readings to fluctuate during the day.

It is normal for your blood pressure to increase during exercise and for it to decrease when you are asleep. This makes it a wise option for you to have a sphygmomanometer at home because checking your blood pressure only during doctor's visit can give you inaccurate results as increased daily stress can give you a falsely high reading.

If your blood pressure remains high without you receiving proper medications to calm it down this can lead to serious health problems like a heart attack, heart failure, kidney disease or stroke.

The factors that puts you at risk for having a high blood pressure are; Smoking, high cholesterol, being overweight, having diabetes, family history, stress and not doing enough exercises. Though high blood pressure is more common among men above the age of 50.

This sickness does not usually give warning signs, so you can have high blood pressure and still feel perfectly well making it a "silent killer." that is why it is strongly advised you check your blood pressure frequently.

Health / Tips To Prevent Kidney Stone Disease by healthexamined: 9:04am On Sep 16, 2016
Kidney stones is something we all hope to never experience in our lifetime not only is it deadly but it is equally painful so it is highly recommended that we considers ways to avoid this disease. Our kidneys do the job of keeping our blood clean by removing the waste products from the body through urine. When there is not enough fluid or excess waste the urine becomes over saturated and a stone might form. This stones can be present for years without obstructing any opening but when a stone obstructs the ureter then serious pain follows.

Most medics think that people who form kidney stones lack specific chemicals in their urine to prevent them from forming while other factors like type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity and cardiovascular diseases can increase a person’s risk of forming a kidney stone. Though, you can limit your risk of having this sickness by follow this simple tips.

Develop the habit of drinking water: Like I earlier said stones can form when there is not enough fluid in your system so getting enough fluid is important for kidney stone prevention. When there is not enough water in your body system, urine becomes more concentrated, which can potentially lead to the formation of kidney stones. It is also important for you to note that sugary fruit juices and cola drinks can increase the risk of forming kidney stones so sticking to water and water-dense fruits like cucumbers and watermelon would reduce your risk.

Try to balance Your protein with fruits and vegetables: Recent research suggests that people who are on a plant based diet have a lower incidence of kidney stones. The reason for this is most probably that animal protein makes urine more acidic, which can contribute greatly to you developing kidney stones. It is important to note that this does not mean you should eat less meat so as to prevent kidney stones instead try to balance out the acidity in this meat by eating lots of fruits and vegetables.

Moderate your Calcium intake
: When the level of calcium in your urine is high this can increase the chances of you developing kidney stones. But if you decide to go on a low calcium diet because of this it can prove to be dangerous to your health as calcium also helps clean out waste products in your body before they travel to the kidneys so a lack of calcium can prove to be detrimental. So it is advised you look for whole food sources of calcium and aim at keeping it moderate.

Minimize your sodium intake: When the level of sodium in your diet is high this can increase your risk for kidney stones. Most sodium based foods are processed foods so you can drastically limit your sodium intake by simply witching to unprocessed, and whole foods. Doing this alone can greatly decrease the amount of calcium in your urine and therefore reduce your risk of developing kidney stones.

Health / 5 Reasons Vitamin D Is Important by healthexamined: 10:21am On Sep 15, 2016
Have ever wondered why so many products like milk and some cereals are fortified with Vitamin D, the obvious reason is the vitamin is hard to come by from regular food sources. Whereas Vitamin D is highly important for many health functions, like the health of your bones, teeth, muscles and even your immune system. If your body does not get this nutrient in sufficient amounts there can be a lot of painful effects which would follow so it is advised you get as much vitamin D to avoid the following events.

Achy, Weak Muscles: Your muscles rely on a certain amount of vitamin D in order for it to function properly and effectively. When this vitamin is absent it can lead to cause achy, sore, and weak muscles. These are the kind of feeling you often get when you have been infected with virus like the flu.

Headaches and Dizziness: These kinds of symptoms are common with high blood pressure patients, though it is also a common complain for those with vitamin D deficiency. High blood pressure is often called a “silent killer” because most people have no warning signs at all when suffering from it. So due to the similarities and delicacy of these symptoms if you are having headaches and dizziness you should definitely talk to your doctor.

Frequent Infections:If you notice that you are struggling with frequent urinary infections or respiratory problems like the cold or the flu, then chances are high that your immune system is weak and not as strong as it ought to be. One of the basic reasons for this could be a lack or deficiency of vitamin D in your body system. This vitamin is found in high concentration in the immune system of your body and is needed for the immune system to function well. It was found in a study that children who had high levels of Vitamin D in their system had less chances of acquiring a flu or cold.

Excessive Sweating:If you discover that you are sweating excessively without any obvious cause for it, such as a warm day, fever or strenuous workout, you would need to report this to your doctor immediately. There are many reasons you can be experiencing this and the cause is not only limited to a deficiency of Vitamin D in your body system, though there is actually no good explanation for why low vitamin D levels in your body can lead to this problem.

Tummy Troubles: If you simply have problems with things like constipation or heartburns, vitamin D can slow down how fast your body system can push through the food that you consume.

Vitamin D deficiency is one of the most common of vitamin deficiencies that occurs in humans and there can lead to serious health consequences for this. The good thing however is that eating a diet rich in this nutrient regularly and also getting exposed to sunlight several times a week can help restore the vitamin levels to normal.

Health / Handy Tips To Stop Baby Diaper Rash by healthexamined: 3:44pm On Sep 13, 2016
Diapers are innovative in helping mothers raise up cleaner and healthier babies. Though it's a common household product now, its usage has a downside as occasionally continuous use causes diaper rash in babies.

More and more mothers are concerned with reducing diaper rash on the bodies of their babies. After the care of the baby's health; it ranks high because baby rash can cause the baby to become very uncomfortable and irritated. When babies become this way they take away any comfort left for you to enjoy - whether during the day or night. Therefore, it is important for you as a mother or custodian to learn vital tips necessary to eradicate baby diaper rash.

CAUSES OF DIAPER RASH

Allergies, skin irritation and infection can cause diaper rash. Prolonged wetness of your baby's body can cause irritation by stimulating environment for diaper rash to occur.

When excretes, in form of poo or urine is left on baby's body for over a time it alters the pH level of baby's skin, acidic reaction occurs that promote environment for bacterial and fungal growth, this results in rashness over the baby's body in no time.

Sensitive skin of your baby can also cause rash to occur, some baby wipes, diapers and soaps can irritate your baby's skin and influence rash.

Handy tips for rash-free baby skin :

If you like to prevent diaper rash before they occur, or if your baby has diaper rash already, make sure you change diapers regularly, expose baby's body to clean air between diaper changes to dry the body and apply the tips below.

Antibiotics are good for reducing rash and because breast milk is rich in anti-bacterial functions, it is a natural and excellent source for alleviating rash in your baby's skin.
Clean your baby's body regularly to promote baby skin's dryness. Dry skin does the reverse of skin wetness; it helps your baby maintain a healthy and dry skin.
Pay attention to the soaps and diapers you use, if you notice irritation even when you clean your baby's body regularly it is likely an allergic response to any of these substances.
Use diapers that with high absorbency, today diapers manufacturers put much into the research of materials used to make diapers; it is easy to buy brands that promises 99% dryness for your baby's skin. So try diapers with high absorbency; take note that no matter the diapers you use failure to change the diapers once it becomes moist will create skin rash on your baby's body.
Some babies develop rash when their diapers are switched from one brand to another. Pay attention to your baby's body how the skin reacts if you decide to change diapers.
While baby diapers are important, allow your baby to stay without using diapers for several hours each day, it will help promote dry skin and provide the body with opportunity to dry naturally. This is an effective measure to treat or prevent diaper rash.
After cleaning your baby's body, carefully clean the body or give baby a rinse then apply creams like petroleum jelly. It will keep the skin from moisture that causes rash.

Rash usually clear out within a few days, though it can last longer it may be time to visit your doctor to get some help. If you apply these guidelines it will help you maintain a smoother and cleaner skin free of diaper rash.

- While you can blame the situation it is important to recall your memory to the foods you consumed before the condition, you may want to stay off where you ate, or avoid certain diets.

- You should also practice the habit of washing your hands to avoid bacteria like staphylococcus (commonly found on the skin and in the throat) or shigela ( passed from fecal matter ) .

- Wash your hands after handling raw meat and eggs.

- Avoid eating raw protein like meat, fish, poultry, milk or eggs. Stay off sushi, oysters on the half shell; also keep from Caesar salad made with raw eggs and unpasteurized eggnog. Do not use cracked eggs, raw foods can harbor bacteria.

- After preparing raw foods ensure you wash your utensils thoroughly and make sure you keep the utensils from other food substances

- Thaw meat in the refrigerator because bacteria can multiply on food substances while the center is still frozen

They could contain bacteria harmful to your health. Make sure you discard them carefully so even household pets do not consume them.

You can apply some home remedies for your food poisoning condition. Here are some vital tips :

Take in more fluids
Bacteria irritate your intestinal tracts and triggers loss of fluid. Drink plenty water to prevent dehydration. Water is the best replacement liquid one can take followed by clear liquids like apple juice, broth or bouillon.

Take some cocktail
Vomiting and diarrhea flushes out important electrolytes like potassium and sodium, you can replace them by sipping commercially prepared electrolyte products like Gatorade or try this rehydration recipe : Mix fruit juice with half spoon of honey or corn syrup and a pinch of table salt.

Avoid antacids
Antacids could reduce the acids in your stomach and weaken your defense against bacteria. This will result in the bacteria multiplying in greater numbers if you take an antacid.

Use Natural products
Natural products like ginger can provide relief. Drink a cup of tea made with squeezed ginger, add some honey or sugar and enjoy your hot tea .Alternatively just chew some slices raw or take it in combination with honey to reduce the pain.

Take some garlic
Garlics have antiseptic and antibiotics properties. Chew some raw garlic or mix it into a drink and drink it.

Don't interfere with the process

The body is trying to rid itself of toxic organisms out of your body, in some cases, taking anti-diarrheal products like Lomotil or Imodium ay interfere with the body's ability to fight the infection. Stay away from them and let nature fight its course.

Try basil
Basil promotes comfort in the abdominal area. The antibiotic properties help the body in flushing out toxic bacteria and viruses.

Make some juice with the leaves, add several spoons of honey and take it up to five times daily. You could also mix some oil extracted from basil into a cup of drinking water and drink it several times daily. Take this until the pain subsides.

If the case persists, you need to visit your doctor. After a few tests and with some medication you will be treated and will be fine.

Final Note

If you notice you ate food from a public outlet, you need to be cautious of the restaurant and make some reports in some cases so they can adhere to strict procedure in handling food and prevent future occurrence.

Ear aches can be a serious course of concern. When it suddenly pinches at night, it can be worse, finding medical help could be difficult after night's light out. Children and adults, even the elderly can be susceptible to ear aches. The muscles in the Eustachian tubes play vital roles to the ears, as they contract, it enables the tube to open up and allow air flow into the middle ear, when the tubes don't drain naturally the air in the middle air is absorbed creating a vacuum in the tube and sucking the ear drum inwardly this can leave you with pains as the ear aches.

Health / Five Effective Remedies For Oily Skin by healthexamined: 3:05pm On Sep 06, 2016
Excess oil in the body system gets out one way or the other, excess oil in the body system is secreted by sebaceous glands beneath the skin onto the skin’s surface, resulting in oily skin, this oil residue mixes up with sweat on the skin’s surface, blocking the skin pore and inducing irritation, it stimulates the climate for bacteria to clog the skin pores and cause body odor.

This secreted oil on the skin causes conditions like pimples, acne and all types of irritations to the skin.

Does oily skin have its own merit?

Oily skin can be very nice to have because it has its own advantages, one of which is it prevents cracking of the skin surface.

Consequently if you have oily skin you will have fewer wrinkles even with age than someone without oily skin.

What causes oily skin?

* Oily skins are results from a host of factors, from our diet to hereditary to lifestyle, these conditions can impact and cause oily skin.

* Hereditary plays a vital role in oily skin just as hormones, for example during pregnancy women are prone to producing more oil in their skin as changes in their hormone levels causes an increased release of oil to their skin.

* Women taking certain birth control pills are also prone to increased oil in their skins resulting in oily skin.

* Stress can cause the oil glands to release more oil to the skin just as a wrong cosmetic choice.

It is important to deal with factors within your influence and reduce excess skin oil and learn to leave with the rest.

How can i manage oily skin?

Managing oily skin is important, because it has no magic cure it has to be managed effectively. When managed effectively it remedies have be observed to produce fruitful results.

If you have oily skin, apply these tips :

Apply astringents
Astringents with acetone are great solvents for fats and grease, applying them regularly will reduce excess oil from your skin’s surface.

Dermatologists believe that rather than washing the face too often that causes too much facial dryness, it is better to use astringent pads.

You can use them for your facial cleansing and evade the risk off excessive skin dryness.

Ditch oily soaps
Dermatologists recommend using specialized soaps that can de-oil your skin. Neutrogena, Clearasil are two very good brands you can use.

Use soaps that act as cleansers, they will cleanse your skin off excess oil. Soaps that have glycerine base are specially formulated for oily skin.

Use powder
Baby-powder can provide protection from excess oils. Apply a light layer to cover the oil so it reduces the moisture and acts as a shield against excess facial moisture.

Cosmetics
Make the right cosmetics choice. There are many cosmetics specially formulated for oily skin. They are produced to soak up excess oils and grease.

It will not halt oil production but will alleviate it.

Keep clean skin
Exfoliated skin will keep the pores open, it will dig deep into the skin and clear the skin of any irritants causing organism.

Final word

While you’re working on reducing your oily skin, remember it’s a journey, be consistent and stick to the guidelines.

Health / How To Overcome Bad Breath by healthexamined: 2:53pm On Sep 06, 2016
Bad breath can affect one’s social life adversely imagine being in the middle of an important meeting you’re discussing with a business client, you close the meeting and standup and say.” I’ve enjoyed having this discussion and look forward to doing business with you “,and as you stand and draw close to each other, the other person reacts, he withdraws, turns the other way but manages to smile and act like it never happened ? This is just the kind of scenario bad breath or halitosis can cause.

Different factors can induce halitosis: smoking, bad dental care, high protein diets and mouth acids. Whatever the cause halitosis is embarrassing and should be prevented.

Tips to overcome it

Practice good oral care

Brush your teeth regularly. Some odors can be eliminated permanently or temporarily- if you brush after a meal. The main culprit in bad breath is a soft, sticky film of living and dead bacteria that clings to the teeth and gums, this film is called plaque. They are present in the mouth eating every morsel of food that passes into your food and producing these offensive odors. As you exhale, they exhale so brush away the plaque after each meal and rid your mouth of the breath problem, also floss your teeth to also prevent a buildup of bacteria

Try some mints of gum

Mints and gums can cover up bad breath; don’t let it hang too far off.

Use mouthwash

If you need 15 minutes of freedom from bad breath, use some mouthwash. Many brands contain essential oils like eucalyptus, thyme, peppermint and wintergreen that neutralize odor-producing waste products in your mouth. Some contain zinc compounds, sodium benzoate or benzoic acid all acts as antiseptics to rid your mouth of tiny bacteria that induces bad breath.

Eat three times daily

The saliva in the mouth becomes highly acidic from dehydration and in adequate diet. One of the side effects of fasting is bad breath.

Try some parsley

Parsley can be a breath-saver for your breath so sprig and chew some thoroughly.

Try some spice

Certain spices and herbs in your kitchen are natural enhancers. Chew cloves, fennel or anise seeds after odorous meals.

Brush your tongues

Do not ignore your tongue while brushing your teeth. Your tongue is covered with hair-like projections that can harbor plaques. While brushing, brush the tongue and wash beneath the tongue as well.

Increase your water in-take

Drink plenty water after heavy meals. They help the mouth maintain the right pH level to keep it free from germs, they also flush out bacteria hiding in the mouth.

Cut down on sugary food substances; reduce your in-take of highly sugary drinks, coffee and spirits. It alters the right chemical balance your mouth ought to maintain for fresh breath.

Eat foods rich in Vitamins D

Vitamins D act as an anti-oxidant and will cleanse your mouth of odor producing bacteria. Lick a few regularly to rinse your mouth of these organisms. It is readily available in sea foods.

Conclusion

Persistent bad breath can be an indicator of a greater problem. Although bad breath is a major gum disease, it could also be gases and odors from gastro intestinal problems. If your halitosis doesn’t give way after a few days, see a dentist or doctor.

Some diseases can cause bad breath, they include cancer, tuberculosis, syphilis, dehydration and zinc deficiency. Some drugs can also cause bad breath, drugs like penicillamine and lithium can cause bad breath
