In this case, there's usually no documentation and their are usually stages until the number of job seekers are reduced to just a few that'd see the company's HR or rep for final interview.

How do you know if you are working for the outsourcing company, Workforce, or the company where you work?

Simple. Documentation. Workforce will document your files if they are employing you and ask you for things like Referee, Guarantor, National ID Card, and other stressful things. If they don't ask for this, they are simply helping the company recruit. You have to attend the interview to know.
