Nairaland / General / Saraki Antecedents In Political Fighting by horlarjydeytee(m): 12:41pm On Jul 25, 2018
Saraki wrestled his late father over 2011 governorship election in Kwara state and won.
Wrestled Tinubu over Senate presidency in 2015 and won.
Now he has added buhari to his list of defeated political foes.

Man deserves some accolades.

Nairaland / General / If Macron Of France Was A Nigerian By Birth. by horlarjydeytee(m): 9:09pm On Jul 16, 2018
This is Emmanuel Macron, 40, the President of France cheering the French team to Victory yesterday in Russia.

Can somebody who has his number call him to tell him that the following would have happened to him if he was a Nigerian.

1. He would first of all have spent 6 years for a 4-year Course in a Nigerian Tertiary Institution. He would be 'privileged' to graduate the 6th year if he went to OAU or LAUTECH.

2. He would be lucky after attending many miracle crusades to get a decent job 4 years after school.

3. When he goes to the youths; people in his generation to explain his aspiration, he would be told he did not witness the Civil War so he does not have 'experience'. He would be told to go and get 'experience'.

4. How does he get experience?- he would be told to join either PDP or APC and their likes.
Getting to the party, he would be made to genuflect to the 'elders'. He would run errands, prepare tea, arrange girls for the 'Ogas' and carry files for at least 10 years, especially if his father is not a political big-wig or his family name is not strong enough to win elections.

5. He must learn how to act like Fayose, Dino, Olisa Metuh etc. It is a must he rigs at least 5 elections to show loyalty to the party. Launder money through his bank accounts. Steal for the party chieftains and snatch ballot boxes. He would need all these political gymnastics going forward. That's the 'experience' he was asked to get.

6. When he raises his head in the party for anything, he would be told to go and ask the Party Youth leader how old he is. He would also be shown Fayemi's running mate in Ekiti.

7. If he does not want to go the bourgeoisie way and he goes to the Civil Society, he would be told he is not 'ideologically clear' enough to contest.

8. When he goes to the students to explain his dream, he would be told with examples that his mates are the ones contesting elections in NANS (National Association of Nigerian Students). He would also be told he is too #BrokeToRun. He is not a money-bag. And he should not think ideas win elections in Nigeria. Money does.

9. If he challenged his opponents to a debate on issues, they would not show up especially the incumbent because people who attend debates in Nigeria don't win elections. Hs would be told intellectualism or erudition should end in his dreamland.
He would also be told that it is about winning elections and not delivering good governance.

10. Educated or not. To prove loyalty to the godfathers, he would be taken the traditional way to swear to an oath in a shrine.

By the time all of these happen simultaneously to him, the dreams are shattered and ideas are gone. He won't answer Macron anymore. He would be as soft as Macaroni.

Nigerian youths! Think.

Nairaland / General / As Money Decides In Ekiti, An Obvious Regression In Our Pursuit For Development by horlarjydeytee(m): 8:53pm On Jul 16, 2018
AS MONEY DECIDES IN EKITI, AN OBVIOUS REGRESSION IN OUR PURSUIT FOR DEVELOPMENT.

Agbaje Sly writes in tears......
"When the saying is no longer 'may the best man wins' but now 'may the richest man win', where do we go"?

I say good day to my fellow EKITI people. On the first, let's give thanks to God for the success of the peaceful election held in Ekiti yesterday. As much as I would love to call it free and fair, but in any case, money has decided and the game of refund will once again begin for another 4years.

Another unfortunate incident in Nigeria that shows we are not ready for a progressive change, rather engulfed by the greed of the present piece of cake placed in our hands. As much as I don't have any issue with voting for any political party or personality, here are my painful Observations from EKITIDECIDES 2018:

1. WE ONLY VOTE FOR POLITICAL PARTIES NOT PERSONALITY: Grief held my heart as I buried my head in shame and disgust at my own people when everybody kept shouting APC or PDP, it was more of Fayose vs APC thing. It is so pathetic and sardonic that there were 33 other candidates contesting but we care less to access them all since they are not from PDP or APC, we don't even care to know what they want to offer instead we turned all our attention to a failed returnee and a grand puppet.

2. NOT TOO YOUNG TO RULE, INDIVIDUAL CANDIDACY IS A SCAM! : As much as my hope as a youth was raised when the not too young to rule bill was passed, it has been dragged back to dust with the outcome of yesterday's election in EKITI. I know very well of an active young man that contested, not even his fellow youths gave him a single vote.

The reason is simple, those that passed the bill knows you can't win any election without money in Nigeria, then let's wait for the youth that can outspend them. I guess we have to wait till thy kingdom come, now we are back from "not too young to rule" to "The young shall grow".

3. VOTES WERE NOT WON, THEY WERE BOUGHT: well, sounds so so juicy, " show me your PVC and get 4k, show me your vote and get 6k more". This is even more than some people's salary in a month, and someone is offering you in just few seconds. This was simply how people's votes were bought in EKITI in the presence of 30,000 policemen. I wouldn't blame those that offered to buy our votes, I only blame those that sold the future of their state for that price. Well, no much talk on that, the victory has been bought already, we are helpless now.

4. OUR PEOPLE ARE NOT READY FOR A PROGRESSIVE CHANGE: It is so painful that at a time like this, people still treat their votes like a commodity for sale, the still treat election as none of their business. A progressive mind will realise his vote is his right, and that a vote is her civic power. Until then, let's sit back and watch as our leaders play "The game of thrones" with our cards.

As I keep my fingers crossed and anticipate OSUN2018 and the general election in 2019, I hope same thing will not repeat itself, because the saying has changed, it's no longer "may the best man win, it is now may the richest man win"!. We are not ready for a progressive change.

Politics / #Takeitback Movement Speaks On Ekiti Election by horlarjydeytee(m): 8:41pm On Jul 16, 2018
*TAKEITBACK MOVEMENT ON EKITI ELECTIONS: APC AND PDP’S SHAMEFUL CONDUCT IN EKITI CONFIRM THEY ARE TWO SIDES OF THE SAME BAD COIN*

We salute the great people of Ekiti State for their peaceful conduct during the recent gubernatorial elections. We must also commend INEC for their conduction of the elections and for the timely release of the election results.

Despite the shameful behaviour of both the APC and PDP with their obscene and open attempts to purchase votes, as well as the high-handed conduct of the security forces, the people of Ekiti still had their say, peacefully, at the ballot box.

We wish to note that ultimately, the true winner of the Ekiti elections is the Nigerian people, who have demonstrated that they will continue to reject the lie that they have no options than to select one or the other of the APC or the PDP.

Of the 909,585 registered voters in Ekiti, 667,270 (73.3%) have collected their PVCs. Despite this significant number of voters with PVCs, only 178,121 votes were cast for the PDP (19.6%), while 197,459 were cast for the APC (21.7%). This implies that almost 58.7% of the Ekiti electorate chose not to be a part of the sham political process.

Our Movement believes that this refusal to vote for either the APC or PDP, is further evidence that Nigerians are seeking an alternative progressive platform that will offer credible options to the corrupt, status quo political class.

In February 2019, the great people of Ekiti, and indeed all Nigerians, will have an opportunity to vote in an election in which the TakeitBack Movement will present candidates of proven integrity and competence, for every office, from the Presidency through to Local Council Elections.

We ask all Nigerians desirous of true transformation to join our movement by engaging with us on www.sowore2019.org.

Nigerian MUST progress!
