Politics / Re: Buhari Appoints Son In-law With Accounts Diploma As Executive Director NIMAS by hub: 2:39pm On Sep 19, 2016
Re: Buhari Appoints son in-law with Accounts Diploma as Executive Director NIMASA

It is very embarrassing the way some of us misuse the blessings of information and communication age by coming down to a level so low that one could ask a question wether these people have gone to school or become blindfolded by their greed and ego such that they could not see or reason the way they should.

The writer accuses the president of appointing one Bashir Jamoh with a Diploma in Accounts to the position of Executive Director in NIMASA because he is married to the president's daughter.
In his write up he stated that the said Mr Bashir transferred service from Kaduna state government and joined the NIMASA in the year 1994.
Common sense does not agree for a person with a diploma to rise to the position of Assistant Director within 22 years of service (unless of course if he has been an in law to all the past directors of the Agency). This common sense suspects the whole allegation and calls for investigation - after all it's information age!

To do justice to the tripartite parties comprised of Mr President Mr Bashir and the brilliant writer whom I already suspect could be painting mixed truths and taking advantage of the social media to brainwash some innocent readers who would only read the headlines and form opinion without verifying; I subjected all the allegation to empirical investigation.

Start with the allegation of Bashir being a Diploma holder, I surf through the Internet and lucky enough clicked on Mr Jamoh's profile on Likeldn.
I summarized the lengthy profile to fit the minimum words I wish to utilize on this.

PERSONAL PROFILE
Bashir Y Jamoh has Over twenty five (25) years of professional experience following a Diploma in Accounting, from ABU Zaria, IMM Professional Certificate (UK), PGD in Management and Master Degree in Management from BUK and Korea Maritime and Ocean Universities respectively. He is presently a Ph.D student at the Uniport specializing in Logistics and Transport Management.

Having attained management position since 2003, He has realized his career growth through effective performance as Principal Officer, Controller, Chief Administrator, Assistant Director and Head of various units.
A consummate Administrator and trainer, he has organised and facilitated leadership training and manpower development programmes in several countries including U.K., U.S.A., U.A.E., South Africa, Brazil, Malaysia and Sweden among others. He has served in technical and advisory capacities to the Agency’s management. As Head of unit, he provides leadership for a number of line managers and officers on learning and manpower development needs within and outside the agency. He is a highly esteemed and respected expert in maritime human capacity building, public-private partnership development in addition to Shipping Management and International trade.
This seasoned administrator and maritime expert is a member of many professional bodies amongst which are Chartered Institute of Administration of Nigeria (CIA), Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM), Chartered Institute of Transport and Logistics (CILT), Institute of Business Development (IBD), Academy of Entrepreneurial Studies (AES), Institute of Public Diplomacy and Management (IPDM), Institute of Maritime Economist (IME) (Canada), Institute of Materials Management UK (IMM) & Nigeria Institute of International Affairs (NIA). He is a recipient of Distinguished Merit Award from the Institute of Transport Administration of Nigeria and International students of the faculty of Law, Bayero University, Kano.
Jamoh possesses the qualities of a good leader in abundance; de-tribalized, disciplined and committed to developing other people’s potentials.

Compressed Work Experience :
Asst Director, Training Development (NIMASA) (March 2011-2016)
Head protocol and logistics - NIMASA (Dec 2010-Feb 2011)
Asst Director, Research - NIMASA (sept 2010-Dec 2010)
Asst Director, operations - NIMASA (July 2009-sept 2010)
Asst chief Admin & chief Admin officer Training (March 07 - jul 09)
Asst chief commercial officer Eastern/central zones (Aug 03 - March 07)
Port service controller, Tin can Island Port-NIMASA (June 99 - Aug 03)
Port service controller, onne port P/h NIMASA (1997 - 1999)
Principal commercial officer, operations NIMASA (1994 - 1997)
Principal procurement officer FASCOM, Kaduna state (May 1991 -Dec 1993)
Asst produce purchase officer FASCOM, Kaduna st. (Jan 1987-May 1991)
Accountant produce purchase, FASCOM, Kaduna st. (May 1987-Dec 1988)
He is a fellow and Member of More than a dozen of relevant professional bodies both domestic and international.

Coming to know these facts about Mr Bashir I begun to think if he is also a son In Law to the former presidents Late Umaru Musa and GEJ as he served as a member ministerial committees on the development of oil bunkering market in Nigeria and on Personnel matters on NIMASA respectively during their tenures!

Incase you forget, perhaps you may wish to know the requirements to become an executive director (you can browse the Internet for more)
Degree Required: Bachelor degree & Masters degree is recommended
Key skills: Management and delegation skills
Job Growth: 11% (for all top executives )
Initial career appointments to the senior executive service (SES) must be based on merit competition. The Law requires agencies to establish an executive Resources Board to conduct the merit staffing process to meet its unique needs. The process includes choosing a selection method, advertising the position, preliminary review of the applications by personnel specialists, rating and ranking the applicants by a panel with knowledge of the job's requirements, evaluation of each candidates qualification by an executive resources board and making recommendations to the appointing authorities.

Now, giving the facts above which was entirely sourced from the Internet using the right search phrases I can safely dispute your allegations which I believe is baseless and unfounded. It is calculated attempt to tarnish the good image of this administration by those who are bent on getting promoted by all means regardless of their poor performance and shabby CV.
Mr president has done the right thing by confirming the recommendations of the panel saddled with the responsibility of selecting the most competent candidates for these positions.
By God's grace the president will deliver beyond the expectations of Nigerians.

Oga what are you saying...how much does rice, beans, corn or other food products add to the federation acct from which salaries, other recurrent and capital expenditures are shared, stop being ignorant, you claim oil is not important yet a drop in price and sabotage by militants is causing the country so much hardship. We all want our agricultural sector to boom and the country to cut back on it overdependence on oil,we must however stop decieving ourselves and others that oil at the moment is not important.
What you fail to understand is government does not cultivate those agricultural products you listed, they are done by hardworking individuals. Mind you no individual produces crude oil, what I was expecting those agitators or avengers to do is to demand for royalty on land usage and if they can, invest and go into crude production like the exploration companies.

With the recent spate of calls for true federalism from several quarters of the country, I took it pertinent to research its implication for the south west and I was not impressed.
There was one thing it required which should never be allowed to see the light of day; namely State of residency.
Federalism requires state of residency over the state of origin now used, as a Yoruba man this is tantamount to us committing suicide, imagining the massive immigration(invasion) into our region send shivers down my spine; seeing as it will most likely be far better than all other regions.
To this end I feel that regionalism will favour us south westerners seeing as it allows border control to a large extent, abi ki le ro (or what do you guys think).
cc: lalasticlala
How will the regions be shared, will the status quo remain as per first republic or the current six geopolitical zones? Will population be considered or size of land (sqkm) etc please elaborate.

Am not a fan of metuh but am begining to wonder at the recent fixation people are having over metuh. There are many people that were indicted in that Dasuki arms money looting, almost every major politician got. From the north mostly to even a few from the west(FFK,George,Obanikoro,Falae etc) and then metuh. Many has promised to return and others have returned.
Why the fixation on metuh? Is it a ploy to tarnish igbos for an offence which majority from other tribes are guilty of?
Anyway, let's get back to your question.
How is that all his predecessors (shagari and now Jonathan)are wrong and never him? Any good leader must take up the challenge and build on it. Look again at Real madrid that won the UCL last night. In january, under Coach Benitez, they were 5th on the spanish league, losing points almost weekly, morale was low until Zidane took charge and in 5months,they won the UCL,finishing just a point behind spanish champions Barca.
Zidane did not waste time blaming his predecessor(whether he's guilty or not). He went straight to stopping the further loss of points and progressed from there.
That's how you know a true leader
Mind u Zidane was the assistant to Benitez.

Politics / Sgf, Ogbonnaya Onu And Vainglorious Nigerians by hub: 11:45pm On Aug 28, 2015
SGF, OGBONNAYA ONU AND VAINGLORIOUS NIGERIANS:

I just ended a telephone conversation with a confidant and senior friend who called from Abuja this morning and he gave me fresh insight into the new appointments announced yesterday. My friend who is very close to Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu told me that Dr. Onu called him this morning for 35minutes to tell him how vain Nigerians are. Dr. Onu according to my friend said his house was like Mecca yesterday in Abuja with no space for people to move around in anticipation that he would be announced as the SGF. In his house were Igbo professionals who want appointments and influencers who came with lists of those Onu should appoint as Head of MDAs since the Office of SGF is assumed to coordinate this. When someone else’s name was announced his house became empty within minutes. Now, Dr. Onu is a lonely man as all fortune seekers have disappeared. That is who we are. We want appointments for our village and ethnic man/woman so we can get our own share of national cake. Onu said all those crying over appointments for him or anyone is not for love, it is for what they hope to get.

ONU’s DISPOSITION

I personally would have preferred Dr. Onu as the SGF but now i know better. This man is a decent and gentleman of highest standard. Onu told my friend that President Buhari had given him the honour of taken him into confidence few days ago before yesterday on why he won’t make Onu SGF because he (Buhari) has something better for him (Onu). Onu according to my friend said President Buhari told him people attach so much importance to SGF and Chief of Staff because of the bastardisation of the system over the years and destructive influence peddling which got worse under Jonathan. Buhari told Onu that under his Presidency SGF and CoS wont become almighty that everyone must worship. The President told Onu that he wants to return government and bureaucracy to the days of yore when honour and integrity were the watchwords and not corruption and influence peddling, therefore, SGF and CoS wont be a coveted position again. The President also said, according to my confidant that he has his reasons for appointing certain people to certain positions and all will manifest in due season but chief among is the need to protect the individuals from undue pressure and making enemies for nothing. For example, if he gave Onu SGF position Igbos will hate him for life because Onu wont be able to give anyone appointment as that function will no longer be under the office of SGF. Many people wanted Col Hameed Ali too to be EFCC chairman or Chief of Staff but the President thought differently and put Col Ali in a place he believes Col. Ali will serve the country better. Buhari told Onu that he knows where he wants to use him and it will be what will bring glory and honour to him and the country. Buhari told Dr. Onu that SGF is not a big position contrary to what people think. It was part of failure of governance under Jonathan that made Pius Anyim powerful and to arrogate power to himself. SGF, for Buhari is an office to present memos for the Cabinet and the President and for PMB Dr. Onu should serve better use than that. Dr. Onu told my confidant that he was so happy with the President after their conversation. Under Buhari, the Ministers will be main drivers of government and I think that is where Onu and others will make their marks.
THE LESSONS: Don’t criticize what you don’t know just because everyone is doing so. Wailing Wailers are doing it not because of any love for country, Federal or Village character. They are shouting just for mischief. There are genuine concerns for balancing act by honest people and this President is very much aware. Future appointments will accommodate every section of the country just like the Military appointments.
