Education / Re: Madonna University Okija Alumni Calling by Icejay(m): 11:11pm On Feb 10, 2008 |
It's a pity that our orientation in this country is so f**kd. I'm not saying that Madonna is the best University in Nigeria. Just like every other institution,Madonna has it's own problems but that does not make it the worse private University as many people see it. I attended 2 public universities after my A'level prog before enrolling at Madonna in 2000 & I've never regretted it. If I decide to study 4 an undergraduate degree again in Nigeria I'll still choose Madonna again & again.I learnt a great deal from Madonna & this has really made me successful in my career pursuit. During my service year in 2005 I was posted to one of the best places and months later I got a job with a multinational company with recommendation from it's HQ in Zurich,Switzerland & 3 months later as the only Accountant in the Crude Oil Div of the Nation's Own Oil Company. By the way how old is Madonna University that people keep comparing it with premier Univ like UI & OAU that have existed 4 over 40 years and are still no better than Madonna University. Madonna is only 8 years old & has done very well. Our graduates are all over. I know of someone in Walt Disney in UK wt a Madonna degree,Saipem in Paris,KPMG,Slumberger and so on.I paid a visit to Madonna my gr8t alma mater last week & I was impressed with the level of improvement there. The school is really growing. I oblige u all to be proud of your alma mater & always represent Madonna to the full wherever You go. |
Education / Re: The Best University In Nigeria? by Icejay(m): 10:46pm On Feb 10, 2008 |
You all should be ashamed of yourself. No University in Nigeria was able to make the top 40 list in the whole of Africa in the recent regional ranking. The No. 1 University in Nigeria going by the recent global ranking is Uniben which ranked 42 in Africa and almost 6000 in the world. Is that something to be proud of? Best University in Nigeria ni, All the so call first generation Universities are all living on past glory. I don't want to mention names. I was in my 2nd year in a Public University of choice but had to leave for a private University because of strike and other wahala. That's not to say that public universities are write offs. Every institution is unique and as such no tertiary institution is a write off. Each tertiary institution in Nigeria has it's own pecularities. We should stop deceiving ourselves and pray that God should touch the hearts of our leaders to expedite action to revitalize the education sector so that our tertiary institutions both public and private can compete favorably with universities around the world in terms of infrastructure, standards and academic excellence . |

oatgold20: That's not true. I think what you shld have done was to find out if you could retrieve your code rather than make wrong conclusions. Go to the web page and click on retrieve code then type in your name and birth date to retrieve your code. Good luck, |

Na lie .Many guys including myself were invited for the test even though I am not interested. You should have known by now that there are usu. more females than males in all major recruitment exercise in Nigeria because there are more female graduates than male graduates. So I totally disagree with U. Your life does not start & end with First bank there are better opportunies out there so, I really don't understand why some of us are so bitter about First bank. My people God has not foresaken us & He never will. Just keep believing & trusting in God for he will definately see us thru, Good luck. |

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: First Bank : What A Fraud by Icejay(m): 6:27pm On Mar 09, 2007 |
Hey guys, I think it's high time we stopped this negative attitude of ours. I know there's so much irregularities in the system that's not to say that there aren't exceptions. We should learn not to blame people for our situations. I do not know anyone in First Bank but I was shortlisted for the test and even that of last year. What I believe is that God has plans for all his children.Sometimes is not what you want that you really need. I know the job situation in the country is frustrating but we shouldn't lost hope and trust in God for he will surely make a way for everyone that believe. What I believe is that what is yours is yours & once God approves no one can disapprove. My advise to all of us is to be positive at all times no matter what & keep believing in God.It's not God's wish for anyone one of us to suffer but sometimes God could use tough situations to prepare us for a great future.Just have a focus and be positive at all times. I wish us well, God dey. |

Education / Re: Private Universities In Nigeria by Icejay(m): 11:30am On Dec 21, 2006 |
SEUN I totally agree with you on your position on this issue. I'm a beneficiary of a private University.I know what I went thru in 2 of the most renown Public Universities in this country before moving to a private institution; and I must confess if given a second chance I will choose to attend that same institution over and over again.Although it's expensive it's worth it. It's like that everywhere. We have to be realistic here. Do you know that all the Universities(including HARVARD,MIT,STANDFORD,NEW YORK U.,PENNSYLVANIA ,OXFORD,CAMBRIDGE,IMPERIAL COLLEGE,TOKYO U,UNIV OF BEIJING to mention but a few ) making waves around the globe are privately run? It's not like I'm condeming the public Universities but the truth is that private Universities are better managed and better equipped. I think the performance of these private universities so far is going to make the key players in our public universities sit up if at all they have the interest of this nation at heart. The level of decay is our public universities is deplorable and something has to be done & fast too. Most importantly there aren't enough Universities to meet the needs of millions of aspiring undergraduates in the country so,I think it's a welcome development but the NUC should exercise absolute care in granting licences to intending private university proprietors;and the already existing ones should be closely monitored. About the private universities charging exorbitant fees,I think that's what is obtainable worldwide due to the cost of operation since the private univeristies have limited source of funding. In Nigeria especially the private universities do not recieve grants from the govt like in most countries in the world. The major source of University funding in the UK for instance is thru fees especially foreign students' fees. It's unfortunate that most people are unable to afford the fees but what I believe is that no matter what institution a person attends private or public you could still achieve your goals. It all depends on the individual. It's one thing to have a degree but I think the most important thing is self development/empowerment. Have a focus, believe in your abilities and above all trust in GOD. |

My dear N25,000 salary in Abuja!!!! Forget it. I'll only advise you to accept the offer if you have accomodation in Abuja & a car(or prov for transportation) cuz transportation in Abuja now is pretty tough. So, rethink. If ur present org is paying u N25,000 as a temporary staff I guess they will do better if eventually u r made a permanent staff. By the way,are there prospects on ur present job? |

Yes oh! A bigger AMEN. The problem with most of us is that we do not hope in and have patience with GOD. Pray always for that's the gr8t means of communication. When you draw closer to God & put all ur hope and trust in HIM and U'll undersatnd what I am talking about. GOD has elevated me from the position of a job seeker to that of a job chooser. If do what you ought to do as a child of GOD I bet you your case won't be different. I wish you all a merry chrismas in advance and a successful 2007. |

Jobs/Vacancies / How To Prepare For An Ability Test! by Icejay(m): 6:22pm On Nov 30, 2006 |
to all job seekers.i don't think it's necessary to ask people for test format each time we recieve invitation for an ability test. go through what ever aptitude test material u have(the gmat book by iec career 4 e.g. covers nearly all areas of job testing ) and ask for god's guidance and direction always.it always work for me. rely not on ur own knowledge but rather seek god's intervention in everything. it's well |

BAT is among the good paying companies in Nigeria. It's a multinational company with a lot of career prospects.I think What one should consider most when looking for a job is career dev & not just the money involved. BAT ability test 4 graduate trainee was conducted last week. I'm not sure if they have started contacting successful candidates yet. |
