I read it. Maybe you need to pay attention. You said she would make 400k a year, using that rate @ 40 hrs/a week.

Read my post again.

You need to understand taxes are collected from an estimated annual pay first. so if you make $200 hr your taxes would be at the max first(39%) at every paycheck, then at the end of the year you do the deductions.

No, $200 hr is over $400K a year if she works 40hr a week and 2 weeks vacation( I know the job would be temporary that's why the extravagant pay). The IRS would first collect at 39% for her bracket and if she does a tax return the Effective tax rate might drop to 30% (after all the deductions like kids etc). Now state taxes depends on the state she is in. In Texas and Louisiana there is no state tax but New York has(I think she stays in new York).
What state do you live in?
MissMeiya:

I'm saying exactly what I said. She will not work at that rate for 8 hours every day for 5 days a week.

1. That's absurdly impractical.
2. She still has a regular job to do.

Now i know you didn't read my post. Pay attention to details.

If you know the job is temporary, where did you get $400k/year from. As much money as US nurses make, they do not make 400k. Good grief. How did that even make sense to you?

40hr a week X 50 weeks X $200. Forgot to add the 52 Weeks in my post.

32000 Naira per hour for A Nurse!!!

8hrs is 256000 multiplied by 25days
equals 6.5million Naira a month

She is going to pay 40% as Tax (or maybe more depending on the state)

I don't know about FD on dollar accounts. I'm also yet to find a bank that'll match Tbill rates; they're typically 2-3% lower + taxes, and not paid upfront. So, what you'll get for 5.2% on TBill for 6months will likely end up being ~3.2% on FD.
Mutual funds on the other hand is a competing alternative; ernie4life discussed about them in his thread here. I believe KGIF is offering 12% (per annum) and pays in 2 installments, although as with many managed funds, there are fees upward of 2%.

Thanks bro, you did a good job on clarification.

FD's have a few shortcomings compared to TBills - taxes and lower interest rates being the biggest. For 6 months on $5000, I'd say go for TBill; with the current pattern, that should fetch you at least 5.2% interest.

Thanks. I would test the waters first before going in. One last thing, what is the average interest rate on fixed deposit on 3 months and 6 months tenor in any bank you know. Naira and dollar account.
Investment / Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by icemann(m): 5:02pm On Oct 22, 2014
petikal:

Fixed deposits (FD) and TBills are quite different. See previous posts.

TBill's effective interest is purely based on your tenor, and there are 3 tenors. The rates increase slightly on longer tenors. Visit CBN website for recent tenor rates.

If you wish to compound your interest, then prior to the end of your tenor, you have to issue instructions in advance to your bank to roll over your capital plus interest - assuming the interest is significant. Some banks do multiples of N20,000, some above/below. So, if your interest is lower than your bank's acceptable multiple, then you have to either top it up or wait for another tenor.

As for FD's on $ account, GTB comes to mind. For a country as big as Nigeria, I'm sure you'll find other banks that do.

Thanks brother. So which is a better deal for 6 months investment for $5000

Thanks. I don't have a problem with the calculation. I know interest is compounded daily, weekly, monthly, biannual or annually. And the effective interest and rate of return is all I wanted to know. and do you know if banks have fixed deposit for $ account?

normal rate and it is usually per annum so if u r buy 91day it divided by 4 182days it divided by 2 so rate on tbills are per anum but it can be compounded if u do a roll over provide u give instruction to your bank
what Interest would 500k give me for 91, 182 and 364 days? And the rates ? Which banks Would you recomend?
Investment / Re: Interest Rate On Fixed Deposit Accounts In Nigeria by icemann(m): 10:09pm On Oct 21, 2014

Here is how is calculated. The percentage bank give you, divided by hundred, times the amount you want to fix, times number of days it will last, divided by three hundred and fifty-five.

For example; if you want to fix hundred thousand (100,000) for 180 days (6months) and bank gave you at 6%. Study below.

6% divided by 100 x 100,000naira x 180days divided by 355day = 3042.2535211 that's your interest. Which simply means N3,000.

Oga that is not how to do compound interest

It is A=P(1+r/n)^n*t

A= final pay
P= principal
r= rate
r= number of times compounded
t= time

we need d gurus to respond to this question because I remember afriend told.me he practices it in his honda accord bulldog whenever he is traveling nd even within city.he has been using his vehicle for over 4 years and I still saw him last week and the ride transmission is as smooth as ever.he claims his fuel consumption is exceptionally low.
what he did d day I drove wit him was to accelerate to like 80 -100 den slip d gear to neutral nd uses d speed wit brake for a considerable distance b4 accelerating again.
I have neva tried it before, but if our car specialist hia say its ok nd cn save fuel den will b glad 2 jump on d bandwagon.
9icetoo:
Its not really advisable to put your auto trans in neutral to coast for considerable periods of time. With parts still moving, the pump in your trans needs to be pumping the fluid round to keep things cool in there. Secondly, accelerating and then coasting in neutral and then accelerating again, isn't going to give you really good fuel economy. I have monitored my real time mpg figures using a scan tool while driving and came to realize that this method doesn't really give good fuel economy. Maintaining a steady speed on the other hand does.
Most new cars have fuel cut off technology that automatically cuts off fuel when a vehicle is coasting with high RPMS. This usually happens when going downhill. So shifting your gear to N will take away this function. In N, the ecm will still inject small amounts of fuel to keep the engine running while if it was in D, the momentum of the tires and crankshafts linked together by the gear will keep the engine ticking but without using any fuel. The fuel cut off is usually around 1500 rpm on most cars. When going downhill, leave your gear in drive and take ur foot off the accelerator. It gives you engine braking, fuel cut off and enough time to react if anything goes awry.

Its even better to turnoff your engine at high speeds to save fuel.
The logic is,
switch of your car at speed,
Lock your steering and breaks,
Have an accident,
destroy your car,
No car, no need to buy fuel.

Trust me this is a smart move and its a lot cheaper than a New transfer case for your transmission.

Op
you bought you FX on the 13th, by the 18th hell is breaking loose.
Like it was mentioned they could have put gear oil in the transmission.
Earlier this year I was in Nigeria and I decided to go to a couple of oil sellers and gas station to see what type of fluid were on the market so I can get a better understanding of what people complain about here.
I found that 100% of the engine and transmission fluid is not recommended for any car made in the 90s unless heavy duty Merz and some Lions.
All US used toks use 5w30-10w30 in the 90s by 2000 it was 5w30-5w20.
Almost all the transmission fluids were Dex-II(mainly used in the 80's in the 90s some used Dex-III and most used different type afterwards.
If you have the money to buy FX cash you are not suppose to be that person Iceman mentioned in that thread Post #28
Always read your owners manual, download it and get the fluids they recommend.
You have access to information but still defer to roadside mechanics who don't know what you are driving(I mean they don't know)
Different models come with different transmissions which requires a different fluid which even changes over the years.
Find the right quantity of fluid and try it, but you also have to do that at least 3 times after driving about 19 miles between changes so you can flush out all the bad oils they added. If you think getting original parts is expensive try wrong parts.
That speed thing could be your trans slipping.

Oga i tire for the guy, The cost of a new transmission is probably 100x more expensive than the cheap fluid he used.

You are suppose to use Nissan Matic-S Automatic Transmission Fluid.

People here are giving free consultation and some people chose to ignore this free service and go o some quack mechs who rips them off. Like they say "The drug dealer makes his money on the comeback".

W 126 also known as Shagari Benz. Every owner i knew back in the days had one problem or the other with it. I guess the mechanics then didn't understand the "morden" eletronics it had.

the Nissan GTR is a middle class super car that has great acceleration(could actually embarrass some ferraris on a straight line) but has mediocre performance in cornering and handling. Also engine recovery isnt top notch. Overall top speed isnt yet at the top class. My opinion.

Have you stepped foot in a Costco before?
