It's 45cm but double on the bed. It's the normal variety but this is parthenocarpic variety which is self pollinating.

The guy here is using water hose to manually water 950 plants in Ogun State. Minimum target here is 200 bags. He is one of my telegram group member.i am managing his farm for using precise nutrition.

Many farmers don't see this because of wrong or poor nutrition. Infact some variety even get ready for harvest as early as 28 days!
Some of these numbers are crazy seriously!
In your opinion, can cu99, Saira and other similar monoecious varieties get any close to for instance 15-20 fruits per plant?

Darina f1 cucumber fruiting on day 17
this is too early unless it's the 30 days variety...single row by 30 or 50cm?

Average of 7.5 fruits per plant!

3500 9 weeks old Dakar f1 harvested 65 bags yesterday alone but the problem he has is the trellis keep cutting because of the weight of the plant. About half of them are on the floor.
That's 3 weeks harvest...very impressive, will try to reach out to you via WhatsApp

What's the average production? If you are ready with your fertilizers, let's run one and I bet you you might beat the greenhouse production. The trick is the nutrition and standard processes for high cucumber production.
I have a group on telegram if you want to learn crop nutrition
https:// /+TNovXv1cOU5hNDZk
That was 56 bags of roughly 180+ fruits minus the misshapen fruits( we bag vertically with 1/3 blue bags as extension)
From roughly 1350 plants
Caveat is this production lasted 7 weeks and was during the early may- June ending when weather variables were friendly
About the telegram, I will have to create the account as I am a WhatsApp person

Saira should do well just like Dakar f1 cucumber as there are gynecious . A 3500 Dakar f1 planted September 2024 is producing 45 bags averagely per week to date
Nope Saira F1 is monoecious and even the ews rep at the greenhouse farm by the airport have not gotten half that record
Agriculture / Re: My Cucumber Farm Dairy by ideepaul: 9:44am On Dec 01
emmaachile2:

Lol for as the spirit leads!
What variety is accepted there?
Saira F1 by ews, Nandini is not broadly accepted but can be managed when there is scarcity...Oliveira bold is also mixed but the market has very strong preference to Saira as it doesn't ripen many days after harvest

Who says Kilele is not tolerant to bw? They are tolerant. The problem most farmers have is that they don't do things right.
Some don't use Nematicide, others dont feed their crops well. Some use Npk+urea! You go laugh for combination of formulas if you check many farms.
Get any of them as they are capable of even 10kg per plant.

There is someone I am running his farm for in Ogun with 800 stands of multistar/sarig bought for N340,000 for 1000 seeds. Planting was done in October.
He is generating close to 3.4m monthly from that 800 plants! He is averagely 500kg harvest weekly and sold at mile 12 at N1,700 per kg.
How is this possible, good nutrition and management and applying the right knowledge. He will still harvest for another 3 months + as its under covered protection.
I won't lie, I still have a long way to go with plant feeding, even though I apply the core nutritional components( N, P, K, Mg, Ca, S) but I haven't structured it properly...just applying based on available funds and how the spirit leads instead of cutting my farm according to resources available...about cucumbers, i wish breeders gave attention to the light green ones for indoor production or something around mydas quality

Ansal, Kilele, Zara are your best options. They tick all the resistance and withstand almost all diseases and are larger fruits tomatoes!
I can guide when you get the seeds to maximize production.
Hello boss, I have spent time trying to research on the varieties you mentioned, and I must say I am impressed by Zara and ansal...kilele has no level of tolerance to bacterial wilt and my zone has that issue... looking forward to getting Zara as it seems it's seeds are easily available compared to ansal... I would definitely be reaching out to you very soon on a tomato friendly thread so as not to derial this one

There are better alternatives to jarrah if you have not bought the seed. Where is your location?

Akwa Ibom... normally we do cobra F1 and I would like to try out something else that's not EWS platinum for the dry season targeting early April ripening and heat stress/sunscald is a major worry
Also I haven't gotten the seeds yet
Agriculture / Re: My Cucumber Farm Dairy by ideepaul: 12:07am On Nov 24

That's true but how many farmers know this? They all go for one popular brand which is not even half the production/quality of Mydas. A well raised mydas will give more than 35 fruits per plant but they won't agree. I once posted I got above 40 fruits per plant but they thought I was lying. Maybe you will tell them your current experience with Mydas.
They only close alternatives I see are Darina f1 and other parthenocarpic variety.

If mydas enters many markets, all other cucumbers must wait for it to sell out. Rijk Zwaan is not an ordinary company.

Their pepper seed mawenzili is compared to super habanero but I don't have the raw data but I still believe mawenzili will beat it hands down as someone said he got about 6kg per plant which I even consider mild. A well fed mawenzili could take up to a year of harvest because it's adapted for long production cycle.

A 4000 plant mawenzili farm was harvesting 1,000kg of fruit weekly. You can imagine if you harvest like that for 8 months!

A redjet Rz f1 farm of about 380 plants was harvesting almost 180kg of pepper weekly. The seed companies I consider close alternatives are Bayer and Syngenta.
Sometimes you know the best variety but your market is selective and hence, you stick to what works to avoid marketing challenges....
Dark green cucumber doesn't sell in some states
Same with the other crops, highly selective and delicate markets affect what you decide to grow even if it doesn't give the highest yield
I am going to try Jarrah for the dry seasons...any tips or inputs would be greatly appreciated sir as this is a giant leap for me

If it was reddish, I would have said it's potassium chloride, this brown looking item doesn't look crystalline from the pics I am seeing! And why isn't it bagged or was it sold in a retailed quantities for you and how much did you buy it for?...cuz the only idea that comes through my head will that this is a low grade potassium nitrate and/or e hard to talk o

I have farmed for some years now even quite young, but a minimum of 75 percent of data burning is farming content(webinars, podcasts, threads and research papers) and that won't stop me from involving an expert on paid terms when I intend to step into fields I am not familiar with! Some of us here are willing to lose millions rather than pay for knowledge, someone will be asking which crop is profitable and how to do it! Seriously? Even a mechanic won't show you his secrets even if you paid him.
I am currently doing a veges, but even that yam, cassava, maize, sweet potato, cash crops and the rest is what I am planning to do... everything crop is profitable WHEN YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING
Stop being lazy! I know you will not love this message, but 5 years later, you will be telling the inexperienced the same thing

Here are todays pictures. We will most likely harvest this weekend.

I did experiment with planting both habanero and Bell Peppers on the open field and surprisingly, they all survived.

So in my opinion there's no need wasting millions on a greenhouse if they can survive in an open field.
I will like the experts to share their opinions on this
There are unique varieties with unique markets that need that greenhouse better...yellow bell pepper will have served you better, but the Ten million naira questions is do you have the experience for greenhouse production?
No be to buy greenhouse, na to know wetin to target, and when to target be the issue...

Good day farmers in the house. Please how do I deal with this kind of infection on my tomatoes: Pix 1. at the edges of the leaves, they appear to be burnt and a bit folded downwards, is that a fungal disease? Pix 2. they fold upwards and become stiff, not growing well (sort of stunted)
You are doing mixed cropping with tomatoes?
Wow that is interesting sha...
Looks like a viral infection to me, and thrips, whiteflies and grasshoppers could be helping spread it

Great work Sir..
We cultivated both platinum f1 and cobra 26..
They both did well under same condition..
However, coming to harvest, we r realized the platinum ripening is slow and seem to produce more of yellow fruits than red, reducing the market value.. the cobra ripening is red and brilliant mostly making grade 1.. What could be wrong with the platinum?
How can we possibly correct it next time?

Platinum has that in its genetics, you can't do nothing about it...it's yield Vs colour sha and my market values colour crazily

During raining season, yes.
But the water recedes during dry season
Some people in my state cultivate pepper, okro, and cucumber in these wetlands and according to them, the crops do better. But you may need to consult with farmers who have experience growing crops in these soil types so you don't run into loses due to ignorant decisions

I will rotate the mancozeb + Metalaxyl fungicide with another with Mancozeb + Azoxystrobin as active ingredient. These are what i can get around me. Regarding insecticides, am starting with Belt expert (flubendiamide and thiacloprid), then later with Blaze (Emamectin benzoate). Pls, help with the dosage rate of the belt expert per 15 litres watee, 0.15L/Ha was only written on the bottle. Thanks
0.15L per hectare is dependent on the crop type and disease pressure
Qty of water to use per hectare also depends on the type of sprayer used and is btw 60-200L
But I think btw 10 per knapsack is ok, 15ml max

Farmers in the house Pls I need your help.

I I'm preparing to go into Cucumber farming, (clearing farmland at the moment)
My problem is now seed,

Which variety can you suggest for me that can do well both in terms of yield and as well resist deease to some extent.

Our market this side like it not too big,
A medium sized greenish tasty Cucumber will
Attract higher buyers than big cucs.

My location is rivers state
Rivers state and green cucumber?
Oga better find an established farmer to guide you o, cuz I know that light green cucumber sells well in your state

East west and modification palava ..note the only cultivar I do plant is greengo so no other cultivar crossing it. Stand producing albino fruit is up to like 15 stand Which is not marketable at all.
I think the gene purity for most hybrid seeds is btw 80-98%!
So I normalise that I should see some plants with funny xteristics like colour, shape, sizes, disease capacity, etc. It could also be a nutrient(macro/micro) deficiency/over abundance issue ...but like someone stated here, you could actually DM hadiza or a south west rep of EWS sha.

Good day everyone!

Can someone please advice or explain the necessary chemicals ( herbicides, fungicides, insecticides and fertilizers) required for a pepper farm.

I would like to understand the required chemicals, how often should application be, required amount and every other tangible information and practices that will guarantee maximum yield.

I am very new into agriculture, but I will appreciate every professional assistant I can get ranging from reading resources, advices, direction and all, I am very willing to learn as I very diligent.

Thanks in anticipation.
Read from page 1 to page 59, read farmerakinyole threads on tomato and cucumber, okoroemeka on cucumber, find pistotita and read(it's complex, but there is knowledge in between those big grammars and stories you will regret not following later) write a detailed summary of what Info and knowledge you have extracted, then ask specific questions to gain specific clarification on certain aspects that are a lil bit too technical.....I come back many times to read them myself

have you heard of Rambo f1 from royal seeds .?
Rambo doesn't have the same level of tolerance to fusarium and bacterial wilt like cobra and platinum
If your irrigation pattern fluctuates, you may have too many cracked fruits even with foliar and soil application of calcium (fruits are bigger than your typical hybrid tomato :120-140g)
Needs extra work cuz of blight as it's a bushy cultivar
Nice cultivar by the way for some who has an excellent farm setup and follows best practises
Not for a beginner farmer

this year is actually going to be different kinda off ...the tomatoe calendar for this year is already ruined ,although it's not advisable to borrow money to fund tomato cultivation I however still believe tomato will still sell for very good price till end of the year...because the main supply line has be critically hit this year, before thing goes back to normality will be next year...

I saw a programme on nta 100s of tomato farmers are vowing to never cultivate Tomato again in the north until the government find a way to help them with tuta absoluta ,more than 5000000 hectares was lost to tuta absoluta this year...

So I will implore western farmer to keep cultivating
If you know the extent people have taken to cash in on these high prices, you would exercise cautious optimism...Baba let's pray for the best, but also expect glut at some point sha

In an infested land, you loose like 25 percent of diva to wilt compared with platinum. Diva catches blight easily in comparison with platinum. The fruits are bigger and more appealing though. Doesn't carry plenty fruits too. As for redness, I haven't paid much attention. I think it's a general thing in tomatoes. Just like we have here presently.
Then I will stick to the ever reliable cobra 26 or 34 ahead of it during the rainy season. Wilt no be anybody mate
