Jobs/Vacancies / How To Get A Job In Nigeria Despite Graduating With A 2.2 by ikenwa4lyf: 7:38pm On Mar 19, 2017
Honestly, getting a job in Nigeria graduating with a 2.2 can be difficult as most organizations prefer second class upper or even first class certificate holders as the least requirements that the applicants are expected to have to apply for job openings.

Believe you me, this is a cruel factor on the part of these companies offering vacancies in Nigeria using this as a job requirement as anyone who has passed through a Nigerian university would know what it feels like to graduate with a good grade.

Although, the whole crux or blame will not fall solely on the lecturers or companies as you would agree with me that most Nigerian students spend the first two years of their stay in the university playing, partying and missing those important lectures then start becoming serious in the remaining two years at the university especially at their finals.

These students should have known better that once you start on the wrong note, it becomes nearly impossible to finish with a good grade in Nigeria which means either having a first class or 2.1 as a university graduate; anything short of this is considered not good enough.

Well, this doesn’t mean that graduates who have a third-class or even a pass do not get good jobs at the end of the day. It is the things done by graduates after leaving school that will determine how far they will go in getting their dream jobs.

According to Naij.com, below are things you can do to improve your chances of getting a good job if you graduated with a 2.2.
1. Change your mentality

Finishing with a 2.2 is not the end of the world. Some graduates in the past refused to attend their convocation ceremonies simply because they did not do well by their own standards. You are who you think you are; do not allow some grade written on a paper to prevent you from moving forward and doing something meaningful with your life. You attitude towards life must change if you want to leave your footsteps in the sands of time.
2. Discover what you are good at

If you are a Nigeria you must have heard this popular phrase ‘Exam is not the true test of someone’s ability’. You might have finished with a 2.2 by not doing so well in a course. Most people make a particular grade by few points. Do not dwell on this grade, find what you are good at and see where it takes you to. What are your unique attributes? Lay more emphasis on them when applying for jobs.
3. Boost your confidence and communication skills

Those who graduate with a 2.1 may have a big problem getting a job if they do not know how to sell themselves. To get a good job with a 2.2 grade, you have to develop some skills that will be highly useful to the companies you are applying to. Improve on your communication skills and you have a great chance of convincing an employer to give you the job.

4. Add professional certifications to your grade

Instead of drooling on the grade you have made in school, you can make plans to boost your qualifications. Take short certificate courses and improve yourself the best way you can. You will be surprised to see how far you will go when you do this. Graduates with professional certifications stand a better chance of getting jobs irrespective of their grades in school.
5. Do all it takes to gain experience

At this point, you should not focus on making money if you want to make it big. Do not let your ego overrule when offered job in smaller companies. Jump at those opportunities because they will prepare you for the road ahead. It is a learning curve; whatever experience you gain there may give you an edge over those who finished with good grades.
6. Drop your CV everywhere

Your CVs are to be shared everywhere; do not see this as a waste of paper and money. You never can tell when the hard copies would be picked by some interested employers. You stand to lose more if you do not risk taking a risk. Make yourself available for every job till you get to the stage where you can make a choice and turn down offers.
7. Network

Be opened to networking in order to meet important people in the labour market. The social media should be used as a tool for meeting important contacts that can change your life forever. Do not appear less serious on it; there are a couple of pages that you can sell yourself and make employers get attracted to your profile.

LinkedIn, Facebook and other pages can connect you with important people in the society. Be available to go for conferences and have the contacts of these people. You may need them to call a shot on your behalf one day.
8. Pray for GRACE

There are some job applications that grace will take over for you if you pray. Grace makes the unqualified qualified. Finishing with a 2.2 should not discourage you and prevent you from soaring high in life. Apply for jobs and ask for divine intervention at every point in time. Some graduates have gotten six figure jobs in places where they do not know anyone and are not qualified. When the world expects you to know someone, tell them you know God and see what happens next.

Fashion / 5 Demonic Things Young Girls In Nigeria Wear All In The Name Of Fashion by ikenwa4lyf: 2:47pm On Oct 08, 2016
Attack me all you like, but I must say the truth.

Young Nigerian ladies are fashion savvy, they love the latest wears, shoes, hair style in vogue. Most of these young girls in Nigeria consciously and unconsciously wear the wrong dress code all in the name of fashion or to look good just to please the opposite $ex.

The funny aspect is that they mimmick famous female world celebrities who on their part are paid for what they do or better still, are promoting a particular fashion brand. Most Nigerian young girls have gone as far as dressing almost niude in the society loosing that sense of decency and conforming to vice calling it good since it is pleasing to the eye of the beholder.

Below are top 5 things Naija Xpose term as “demonic” that young girls in Nigeria put on all in the name of fashion

1. Bum shorts
Most young girls in Nigeria are guilty of this. You see them walk the streets of Nigeria on bum shorts, exposing almost all their bodies. What a generation!!! and we wonder who even started this demonic trend in a country like Nigeria

2. Choker necklace
In the 19th century, wearing a plain, thin, red or black ribbon choker meant you were a prostitute. A plain black woven choker signified lesbianism. This resurfaced fashion trend is demonic expression driven from the pit of hell according to pastors and parents. You will even hear them refer to eat as dog collar.

3. Crop Tops
There exist a thick line between beautiful and beautiful nonsense. Putting on decent clothes is beautiful but putting on half clothing is beautiful nonsense.

4. Crazy Jeans
The funny thing about this confused fashion item is even in its name “crazy jeans” which of course should resemble the person wearing it. Have we evolved to a point where rags are considered clothing? or maybe we are nostalgic of the times when the first humans; Adam and Eve roamed the garden of Eden without clothes and were anxiously wanting to relive that naked feeling.

5. Trousers
We know most young and grown ladies will argue about this, but the Holy book i.e the Bible made it clear in the book of Deuteronomy which says “A woman shall not wear anything that pertains to a man, nor shall a man put on a woman’s garment, for all who do so are an abomination to the Lord your God.”

Jobs/Vacancies / FRSC Salary Structure: How Much Is Federal Road Safety Corps Salary by ikenwa4lyf: 6:45am On Oct 03, 2016
FRSC Salary Structure: How Much is Federal Road Safety Corps Salary - Nigerian Infopedia

FRSC stands for Federal Road Safety Corp and one of their function is regulating the highway for motorists and other road users to avoid accidents. Most people who want to build a career in the FRSC would want to know whether the FRSC pay well or how the FRSC salary scheme is.

Before I delve into the salary structure of the Federal Road Safety Corp that I found out, note that Officers in the FRSC are paid according to their ranks and levels just as it is applicable in the Nigerian Navy, Army, Airforce and Police. What a level six FRSC officer earns would be different from what a level 8 officer would earn.

The FRSC ranking system is divided into two namely: Commissioned and Non Commissioned Officers. To know the ranks in the Federal Road Safety, see HERE.

What we found out about the FRSC salary structure
In a report dated 2007, it was said that the staff salary of the Federal Road Safety Officers was increased. The new salary structure known as Consolidated Paramilitary Salary Structure, a development that has pushed the monthly take home pay of the least staff by about N5,000.00 and the top echelon by over N15,000.00.

We gathered that for those who joined the Federal Road Safety Corp with secondary certificate, starting salary is N40,000

Jobs/Vacancies / NSCDC Ranks And Salary Structure - Nigerian Infopedia by ikenwa4lyf: 2:43pm On Sep 24, 2016
Ranks in the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC)

NSCDC is a para-military agency in Nigeria empowered by lay Act No. 2 of 2003 and amended by Act 6 of 4th June 2007. The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps was established to provide safety measures against any form of threat, attack or disaster against Nigeria and her citizens. They carry guns like other armed forces

NSCDC Rank Structure just like any other ranks in the Nigerian Police, Army, Navy, Airforce and FRSC have an organized chain of command. The ranks in the NSCDC starts from the Assistant Cadre to the Commandant General. Just as the Nigerian army have commissioned and non-commissioned officers, the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence has the Cadre and Superintendent Cadre.

Also be aware that the NSCDC salary structure is also based on the level of your ranking if you want to be a civil defence officer. Graduates are placed in level 8, HND holders are placed on level 7. Medical doctors on level 12 while lawyers and those who have masters degree are placed on level 9.

If you are looking for information on how the Nigerian Civil Defence rank its officers, this post should be valuable to you.

Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Rank Structure
I shall list the hierarchical structure of ranks in the NSCDC from the lowest to the highest rank with their various levels below:

Assistant Cadre- Level 3 to 5 (The lowest ranking officer in the NSCDC)

Inspectorate Cadre- Level 6 to 12

Recruitment, Application, Portal, Requirements + Help Lines
Assistant Superintendent Cadre II (ASC) Level 8

Assistant Superintendent Cadre I (ASC)Level 9

Deputy Superintendent Cadre (DSC) Level 10

Superintendent Cadre (SC) Level 11

Chief Superintendent Cadre (CSC) Level 12

Assistant Commander (AC) Level 13

Deputy Commander (DC) Level 14

Chief Commander (CC) Level 15

Assistant Commandant General (ACG) Level 16

Deputy Commandant General (DCG) Level 17

Commandant General CG (The highest rank in the NSCDC) Level 18

Salary Structure of the NSCDC: How Much an Officer in the Civil defence is paid
Although, I couldn’t get the new full salary scale as salary level in NSCDC depends on your rank and promotions. As earlier said, they are structured just like the Nigerian police and the military. There is no special salary structure for graduates. Recruitment into NSCDC in Nigeria is competitive.

An officer with NSCDC on level 8 step 1 (Assistant Superintendent Cadre) salary is around N121,000, while for Inspectorate Cadre on level 7 is around N69, 000.
