Mandelaguy:

Here comes the resident retard on Nairaland with his i.mbecilic comments as usual.
President Jonathan is the first president to enter into direct negotiations with ASUU. He didn't do it out of weakness but a genuine desire to end the strike and get Nigerian students back to school.

It took the President 13 hours to reach a feasible agreement with ASUU (while you were asleep) and they had an understanding which includes a variation of the unimplementable 2009 agreement that ASUU reached under Yaradua.

President Jonathan told ASUU (and the facts are verifiable) that he is the president who has invested more in Education than any other.
He told them that he increased Education funding in the Budget from below 300B to 450 B. he also specialized tertiary funding through TETFUNDS.

He has undertaken the establishment of 12 new Federal universities to ensure that no state in the federation is deprived.
Since the strike started, FG has committee 100B for infrastructure and 30 B for earned allowances (no other administration has done this much)
In the same meeting, President said that despite the increased budgetary funding to Education by 450B, he will also mobilise 200 B in fulfillment of the agreement for the next 4 years.

So what is ASUU's problem? Since you were born, have you heard of any President that offered this much to ASUU just to call off a strike?
It's so unfortunate that politics has beclouded our sense of reasoning in this country.
President GEJ has tried, let FG go ahead to reopen the schools and it will be a popular move as you can see from comments on this thread

You are daft and I pity those who like your post! So you mean you are not aware that no money has been released other than the N30billion for earned allowances!

Let's see how far the VC can go on this!

engrfcuksmtin: Now we have a VC that want to stand against the high handedness of ASUU, He should open a register, anybody that refuses to resume should be issued query and subsequently be sacked. Placed adverts for vacancies and fill as many positions as possible especially the one's occupied by ASUU excos, so many lecturers will fall in line.
Politics / Re: 49 House Members Decamp To APC by IlajeOmuro: 12:50pm On Nov 27, 2013
Where does the ordinary voter stand in all of this calculations? Nigerians have lost faith in their own power and fervently believe that success at polls is the handiwork of a president, a governor, and any political leader for that matter. I sense a disoriented and poorly educated youthful population! Too bad!

One thing I know is that Nigerian courts are very careful when it comes to ruling on this kind of cases. Same reason why the Senator Borofice and Hon. Agunbiade's cases remain in court more than a year since they were instituted.

Then you did'nt check well because the court that removed former gov Celestine Omehia from office was the SUPREME COURT after hearing the appeal brought to it by now gov Chibuike Amechi on a judgement by a federal highcourt that confirmed the former as the authentic PDP candidate in 2007 gubanitorial election in Rives State. Check well b4 quoting somebody wrong

You mean the Supreme Court entertained a case coming directly from the Federal High Court? I need more education on this!

I can really see that you are an illiterate
Politics / Re: Agreement With ASSU Can't Be Implemented - FG by IlajeOmuro: 9:42pm On Jul 24, 2013
ojubi: Sad but that is the bitter truth.
The government never sat in One table with ASUU as partners to draft the said agreement.
During the presidency of YARADUA ASSU single handedly drafted that agreement and forced the government with series of strikes to assent it, which they did due to public out cry to stop the strike then.
But come to think of it ASUU wanting the addition of another 90 billion naira to their recurrent expenditure is crazy, once the fed govt agree to do it the state universities will ask for the same amount and trust me state governments will never be able to pay the money.
If they eventually have their way which i doubt then we should be ready for the worse because the price of school fees will sky rocket and an average Nigerian will not be able to acquire university education.
Workers from other sectors will also come out and tell the government; you raise ASSU budget by 90 billion, we need a raise too which is not healthy for the economy at the moment especially with the oil theft.
So ASSU just need to find a way to lower their expectation.

You must be a big fool!
Politics / Re: NLC Threatens To Join ASUU Strike by IlajeOmuro: 9:25pm On Jul 24, 2013
Acidosis: Wow, thats a very f00lish decision

The ASUU I know will never join anyone (not even the Non-Academic Staff Union of Universities) in any solidarity rubbish.

The problem with our lecturers is: They think PhD equates Large, Fat money.. Too many demands.. high expectation.

Some of these profs, earn between N700,000 - N1,000,000 basic salary monthly.
Plus sabaticals, free lecture hours (for business), other income from affiliate programs (Pre-degree, Post-Graduate, Professional degrees etc), allowances, visiting lecturers to other schools (not free), consultancy (not free), books and publications (for sale) etc..

They keep complaining about the time spent writing journals (journals meant for their OWN quick promotion, money, not STUDENTS).

Yet they keep comparing themselves with people who earn average sums working almost 20hours a day without any opportunity to do other works.

Now it would be very foolish for NLC to tell someone who earn N20K a month to sit at home in solidarity for a group of people who do not care about their existence.

Why must you guys advertise your ignorance and uncouth attitude on a public space like this. I lecture in Nigeria's Premier University and got my PhD seven years ago, but my monthly salary, basic plus allowances is N176,000. No professor earn N500,000 a month for your information.

As far as nigeria politics is concerned, you are dainted forever for sabotaging SS and SE.

It is high time you fools stopped this SE & SS business. I wonder how the same SS that was grossly marginalized by the Igbos in the days of the old Eastern region suddenly become the SE Siamese twins!

ckkris: Americans generally look down on people in order to steal from them to enhance their own lifestyle. Americans rigged George Bush twice into power. Nigerians also understand how to win election in Nigeria more than any American professor. You talk a lot of theories, but on election day you can't show your face in Bauchi, where Boko Haram will seize all ballot papers for Buhari. The way things stand TODAY Jona will win 2015, just like Obama won 2012 in spite of enormous distractions. Whitemen are not always right, especially in human relationships.

How dare you compare Jonathan and Obama. The two not in any way close! I always laugh at your delusion when you compare this seemingly cursed country with America's. Whitemen may not be always right but they are bnot as crude as your folks here. They won't justify a flout of individual's right and describe it as politics. They won't rationalise intolerance and call it politics! They won't conduct an election of 35 voters and declare the man with 16 votes winner etc etc.

Theben: Nigeria major problems are Islam, corruption and obj.

Obj does not have any right to speak on leadership cos he never was a good leader. Talking about someone who is utterly corrupt. Rigs election openly and boast about it. It's time he shut his mouth up and allow GEJ abeit clueless to do his things his way.

You are wrong but if at any rate right your list remains incomplete. If Islam is a problem then you may not spare Christianity, especially the pentecostal wing whose pastors have continued to profit at the expense of the poor masses.

Take Note: it's not a threat but a FACT or a PROMISE if you like. Boko whatever is a child-play to compare what our boys are prepering come 2015. Billyonaire: Irrespective of any political dynamics, there is no better candidate in the Nigerians Politicosphere that can win Jonathan in any Free and Fair Election. You can take it to the bank, I repeat, there is no other politician! Jonathan is the best thing to happen to Nigeria, his transformation Agenda is visibly enviable. Jonathan is a rocket when compared to Yaradua! Jonathan is a saint when compared to OHBEJAY, Jonathan is a visionary when compared to Abacha, Jonathan is a Professor when compared to Buhari. And when you compare Jonathan to himself, He is GoodLuck, Personified.

"There is no better candidate in the Nigerians Politicosphere that can win Jonathan in any Free and fair Election": Bad English! You don't win someone in an election; you defeat or beat someone in an election.

I continue to wonder why the non-Yoruba, especially the Igbo on this forum are particularly excited at the prospect of Lagos being bombed! This is really disturbing as we all know that a bomb detonated in Lagos will not discriminate among ethnic groups nor spare one and leave the other. It makes me feel that there is actually a grand design somewhere to break this country, and that the BH are just playing a script carefully written by someone somewhere. Could it be that somebody somewhere is not comfortable with the peace and economic prosperity in the South-west? Or could this be an attempt to forcefully enlist Yoruba land into a violent conflict they refused to be dragged into some forty-three years ago. But let it be known to whoever that care to listen that the "land of the slaves" which have since been the Goshen of Nigeria shall be jealously guarded. This is not an empty threat!

I don't know the age range and the level of education of most commentators on this forum. But one thing I am very sure is that many are rather deluded and not cerebral enough to cognise the nation's potential and carry capacity. A Nigeria filled with young men that still earnestly yearn for Goodluck Jonathan for another four years has no future and is indeed heading for the rock. If we must continue to vote PDP and the South South, why not consider people like Donald Duke who actually raised the stake in the South South. Let's not hear of this thing called GEJ again.
