Hundreds of people have been wounded in a huge blast that ripped through Lebanon’s capital, Beirut, according to the country’s health minister.

The massive explosion on Tuesday at Beirut’s port released a shockwave which caused widespread damage to buildings, shattering windows in different parts of the city.

The cause of the blast remained unknown.

Hamad Hassan, Lebanon’s health minister, said hundreds were wounded in the explosion.

Video of the incident taken by Al Jazeera shows a large column of smoke billowing from above an area of the port that houses large warehouses, before a large orange blast is seen and a massive dome-shaped blast wave shoots into the air.

Glass storefronts and windowless across the city were instantly shattered in the blast while videos and pictures shared on social media showed doors ripped form their hinges and ceilings filled with gaping holes.

The blast wave from the explosion caused extensive damage to buildings within a large radius of the blast site.

“I was kilometres away; the glass broke everywhere around me,” said Al Jazeera’s Zeina Khodr, reporting from Beirut.

“The explosion was felt across the city,” she added. “There is chaos in the streets.”

The UK Police have discovered a man, Ricardas Puisys, 35, who was feared to have been murdered five years ago, now living in the woods.

In November 2015, a murder investigation was launched following Ricardas disappearance, after the police concluded that he had been killed by criminals.

He was last seen on September 26, 2015, at Nightlayer Leek Company in Chatteris where he worked.

Eye witnesses, said he was seen in the company of a small group of Lithuanian men before disappearing, this prompted the policemen to begin a murder probe despite the fact that no body was found.

The police believed he was killed after the criminals exploited him.

Howeve, the puzzle was finally solved at the start of July when officers found out that Ricardas has been living in undergrowth in Wisbech, Cambs, UK.

Detective Chief Inspector Rob Hall, from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit, said: “For almost five years Ricardas’ disappearance has been a complete mystery.

“That was until we received information at the end of June which led us to finding him.”

According to police, they only just revealed Ricardas is still alive on Sunday 2nd of August, 2020, in order to ensure the family that he is safe.

DCI Hall said: “A team of investigators worked tirelessly following up a number of inquiries, none leading to the discovery of Ricardas. That was until we received information that Ricardas may have been alive and still in the Wisbech area.

“Following a search of wooded area in Harecroft Road, Ricardas was eventually found living in undergrowth, very well concealed after having deliberately hidden and having not spoken with anyone for some time.

He noted that when they discovered him, they didnt announce it at first to protect and put safeguarding measures in place.

“He is safe and we are working very closely with him to ensure he remains safe, but also to ensure he gets the support he needs after having lived through extremely difficult circumstances during the last five or more years.”

The police are now investigating the potential exploitation of Ricardas.

Police has confirmed the killing of 2 Zimbabweans for allegedly stealing of 2 plasma television in Johannesburg.

It was alledged that they broke into a house , unknown to them the owner was in the backyard.

As soon as they gain entry into the house,they proceeded to loose the T.V from the wall.

The owner of the house,on hearing the noise , he peeped through the glass window to his suprise ,he saw 2 people assumed to be robbers losing his Plasma tv .

The owner ,who happens to have a gun around in the house shot them dead before they could carry it into their waiting vehicle outside the house.

Recently,there has been an increase in the incident of robbery around Johannesburg.

The PUNCH reports that tragedy struck on Friday morning when three men and a woman who newly moved packed into an apartment on Reachman Estate, behind Anglican Girl Grammar School, Asaba, Delta State, were found dead.

City Round gathered that the victims, who were in their mid thirties, packed into the estate on Tuesday.

The cause of their death could not be ascertained as of press time, but some neighbours attributed the death to generator fumes.

An eyewitness, a neighbour, who spoke to our correspondent on condition of anonymity, said, “I don’t know any of them but one of them who is the original tenant on this estate is one Mr Mike from Isoko whose father was still in the mortuary before this incident.

They packed in two days ego. Since Wednesday, their door had been locked and we were wondering why they did not come out. It was in that process we informed the police.

“Policemen broke the door and found five of them lying on the floor. Four of them were already dead while one was in a coma. We immediately rushed him to the hospital. Their generator was on till 10am on Thursday before it went off by itself.”


Another neighbour, who described the incident as pathetic, also said he saw the victims packing their loads into a newly rented apartment on Tuesday. “With the look of things, it seems generator fumes killed them,” he added.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, who confirmed the incident on Friday, said the bodies had been deposited at the morgue in the Federal Medical Centre, Asaba, for autopsy.


She added, “Investigation is ongoing to unravel the circumstances leading to the death of the four occupants of the estate.”

A woman crashed a wedding ceremony in Detroit and shocked guests as she claimed to be carrying the groom’s child.

Footage of the incident has gone viral on TikTok though it’s not clear when it was recorded. 

The pregnant woman turned up at the outdoor wedding while the officiating Minister was reading the vows to the couple at the dome-shaped patio.

As soon as she made her entrance, she began screaming.

She is heard saying: “Anthony! You pretend you didn’t know me? didn’t get your psych med today?

“Anthony I know you hear me! You’re acting like you don’t know me…I got your baby here!”

The minister continued reading the vows but wedding guests were already murmuring in surprise.

The bride and groom ignored the screaming woman but she didn’t relent.

At one point, a young woman, who is seen holding a bouquet in her hands, dashes out of the patio.


She throws the flowers at the woman and shouts: “You better get out of my mama’s wedding. What is wrong with you? What is wrong with you?”

73-year-old woman has given birth to twins through in vitro fertilisation (IVF) at a private clinic in India.

The woman delivered the twin daughters after doctors performed a caesarean operation.

The mother and the twins are healthy and safe as per the information from the doctors at the clinic.

The woman, Y. Mangayamma, is a native of Draksharamam, East Godavari district decided to fulfill her desire of bearing children through IVF.

She was married to Yarramatti Rajarama Rao in 1962 and she had been longing to be a mother since then.

She approached Sanakkayala Umashankar, who owns a IVF clinic at Kothapet.

Given her age, she was admitted to the hospital through out her pregnency days.

Dr. Umashankar said that the entire process was done under the supervision of cardiologist P.V. Manohar.

According to happy husband said, nothing impossible with God, the power of overcoming everything is to pray, and God will make it happen, just wait for God time because God time is the right time.

Police in South Africa are investigating the killing of two alleged armed robbers at a church in Centurion municipality in Gauteng Province, local media report.

The reports say three armed men stormed Querentia Ministry Church in Wierda Park on Sunday and started robbing the worshippers.

A congregant identified as Pieter van der Westhuizen, who is a licensed gun carrier, managed to kill two of the men while another escaped.


Mr Der Westhuizen is the brother of the late Springbok scrumhalf Joost van der Westhuizen, News24reports.


“A statement was obtained from the congregant who allegedly shot the suspects and this will be submitted for prosecutorial direction,” Mathapelo Peters, Gauteng police spokesperson, was quoted as saying by JacrandaFM

Only the church’s pastor sustained minor injuries and was treated on site, the reports say.

A young Nigerian girl who is the last born in her family has written her family members a letter with a set of rules after she got tired of being the one expected to run most of the errands at home.

The girl named Mehitabelle has two older sisters named Michelle and Mirabelle and she feels they do not do as many chores as she does so she wrote a list of rules, detailing what work she is willing to do and the ones she will no longer do.


She also pointed out the areas where she expects her siblings to do better and warned them about sending her on certain errands.


She spoke about putting on the generator, being woken after she has gone to bed to put it off, doing the dishes, bathing, feeding and cleaning their dog, etc.

She also mildly addressed her parents in the hilarious letter and mentioned that she was tired of doing “boy boy” for her family.

The Police Command in Yobe on Tuesday paraded Abubakar Musa, an Assistant Headmaster, for allegedly raping a 10-year-old pupil.

According to reports, the little girl (name withheld) hails from Jajere, Fune Local Government Area of the state.

Parading the suspect in Damaturu , the command’s Spokesman, ASP Dungus Abdulkarim, said Musa was with Jajere Central Primary School ,in which the victim, a primary five pupil, was schooling.

He said the culprit had canal knowledge of the victim on July 15 and 17.

“ Investigation revealed that Musa met her in the market where she sells sachet water.

“ He then picked two sachets and left after telling her to meet him in an uncompleted building for her money.

“ As soon as she arrived, he took advantage of the situation and had sexual intercourse with her.

“ It was also gathered that Musa lured the victim to a-yet-to-be identified place and had canal knowledge of her for the second time

“ We are now working with the victim to identify the second crime scene,” Abdulkarim said.

The spokesman said the matter was under investigation and the suspect would soon be charged to court after the investigation.

Responding, Musa, 37, confessed to having sexual intercourse with the victim twice, but said it was the handiwork of devil.

He insisted that he had an affair with the victim with her consent without any threat or force.

“ She has been soliciting for money from me on numerous occasions, that was what brought her very close to me.

“ It is an unfortunate incident that I regret so much,” he said.

Baby faced Sanele Masilela is one of the world’s youngest grooms after he wed Helen Shabangu for the second time.

The ceremony was held a year after the pair first said their vows and they tied the knot in front of around 100 guests.

The wide-eyed audience looked on as Mrs Shabangu shared a kiss and a piece of cake with the groom in the South African village of Ximhungwe.

The bride is already married to her long-term husband Albert, 67.

Little Saneie said: “I told my mother that I wanted to get married because I really did want to.

“I’m happy that I married Helen – but I will go to school and study hard.

“When I’m older I will marry a lady my own age.

“I chose Helen because I love her and although we don’t live together all the time we meet at the dumping site where my mother works regularly.”

The boy originally married his wife after he claimed he was told by his dead ancestors to wed.

But his family shockingly let their youngest son marry the 62-year-old and gave a £500 gift to the bride and spent a further £1,000 for the big day.

And the child would not rest until South African traditions were honoured and a second ceremony took place to make the marriage official.

The ceremony was branded by villagers as “sickening” but the boy’s family defended the union saying it was just a ritual and not legally binding.

His 47-year-old mum Patience Masilela said:

“Sanele was fine and he was happy about the ceremony last year and it what he wanted – he was not shy.

“He was just happy to get married, very excited and was not embarrassed about it. So much so he wanted to do it again.

“After the wedding last year people keep asking them question like will they live together, sleep together, have babies but I keep telling them that after the wedding everything went back to normal nothing changed.

“Sanele moved to Venda not long after the wedding because he wanted to learn a new language, but they are very close. Our families are very close.

“It was nice celebrate with a wedding once more, it was after all a calling from the ancestors.

“By doing this we made the ancestors happy. If we hadn’t done what my son had asked then something bad would have happened in the family.”

The bride, who is old enough to be the child’s grandmother, has children aged between 28 and 38. She yesterday said she was happy with the arrangement.

She said:

“I’m very happy that the boy chose me and my family support and understand that it is part of making ancestors happy.

“One day Sanele would grow normally and have family of his own and get married one day, all this ceremony is for making ancestors happy.

“We are playing.”

The couple did not sign a marriage certificate and do not have to live together. Both have gone back to their regular lives.

Mrs Shabangu’s husband of 30 years attended both wedding ceremonies along with the couples five children.

He said:

“My kids and I are happy because we don’t have a problem with her marrying the boy – and I don’t care what other people say.”

Warangal Police have arrested a 24-year-old man for sensational killings of nine people whose bodies were found dumped in bore well last week.

The police stated that the accused, identified as Sanjay Kumar Yadav, allegedly murdered the nine people for covering up another murder that he had executed in March.

The police stated that the accused, a native of Bihar, had been living in Warangal for the last six years. He was in a live-in relationship with a woman, identified as Rafiqa.

Six people out of the nine deceased were Rafiqa’s kin, natives of West Bengal.

The three other men, whose bodies were recovered from the well, worked at the same gunny bag manufacturing unit as Rafiqa’s kin.

On March 6, Sanjay and Rafiqa were returning to Warangal in a train after meeting the latter’s family in West Bengal.

Sanjay allegedly strangled Rafiqa over some issue and threw her body out of the train in Andhra Pradesh.

According to a report of The Times of India, the accused allegedly mixed around 60 sleeping pills in the food consumed by the nine persons.

After they got sedated, the accused dragged them one by one and dumped them into the bore well located on the premises of a gunny bag manufacturing

After recovering the bodies from the well, police initiated an investigation. While examining CCTV footage, the investigating officials noticed Sanjay on a bicycle late on Wednesday near the gunny manufacturing unit.

Upon interrogation, he confessed to the crime. He said that one of Rafiqa’s kin named Nisha was threatening to make a police complaint against him over Rafiqa’s disappearance.

Fearing police action, he plotted to eliminate all of them.

The police said that nine people were in an unconscious state after having food laced with sleeping pills.

Sanjay dragged them to the well in the wee hours of Wednesday last week and dumped them one by one. They drowned.

Moreover, the investigation has also revealed that the accused killed his lover because she learnt about him getting closer to his daughters from the previous marriage.

A Ghanaian man whose wife allegedly plotted with her lover to have him killed still showed his soft spot for her after she was remanded in Police custody for the second time by the Asokwa District Court in Kumasi.

The 27-year-old woman called Mavis ‘Maadwoa’ Brepo, married to David Gator, 55, allegedly planned with her 50-year-old boyfriend, Patrick Asare, to kill her husband so they could settle down together.

Mavis Brepo and Patrick Asare were reportedly arrested after an assassin they had called to do the job turned out to be the Manhyia Divisional Police Commander.

Since their arrest, Gator has maintained her innocence, claiming that she was under the influence of a spiritual force when she planned with her lover to have her husband killed so they could both get married.

The two suspects made their first appearance in court on Friday, May 8, 2020.

Adom News reported that Gator who was in court with other family members assured his wife of his undying love as she cried profusely after the hearing.

He also gave her an undisclosed sum of money and reportedly told her it was for her upkeep in prison while an investigation into the matter continues.

The publication also claimed that Mr. Gator has long forgiven Mavis and appealed for the charges against her to be dropped so that he can take her back as his wife.

A delivery driver was caught touching public surfaces including lampposts, railings and even cars after licking his hands.

The incident occurred on April 30 on a residential street in Putney, London.

A man identified as Buhari Abiola aka Eyinju, has been arrested by the Police in Ogun state for raping a 21-year-old lady selling akara.

A statement released by the state police command spokesperson, Abimbola Oyeyemi, says the arrest of the suspect followed a report from the victim who made a complaint at Adigbe divisional headquarters that while she was selling fried potatoes and beancake at church street area of Ojere, the suspect came to buy the fried potatoes and asked her to come and collect money in his house which isn’t far from her shop.
