Nooo, it's not about Igbo or Yoruba being trusted or not but about the change or advancement of democracy in Nigeria.

Certain things will be very difficult to repeat because;

1) The emergence of the APC: Before 2015, any political arrangements done by the PDP was as good as done and only needed to be validated by an election or resemblance of such. There was no real Challenger and Nigeria was more or less a one-party State.

2) Zoning comes with it's price. The prices include dissatisfied members decamping to a VIABLE alternative party. This was a minimal issue before 2015 because there were many but weak opposition parties.
Things aren't exactly the same now. Even the APC can be defeated.

Any political party that publicly announce in 2021 that it has zoned it's ticket to the S/East is telling other political bigwigs from other parts of Nigeria to stay away from the party and it's most likely to witness a gale of defections.

By saying 'south' at least half of the country will assume that they still have chance with the party until when the primaries is conducted.

Atiku, Saraki, Tambuwal and others that are spending money, time and energy to keep the PDP exciting aren't foolish. If the PDP say they have zoned their ticket to the S/East, do you think these people will still be in PDP or if still they are, they won't be this committed.

They are too dull to understand politics, they think it's like trading where you always put profit margin on every transaction

For a tribe that was initially the cause of the Civil War to track back and collectively betray the rest of Southern Nigeria. This is quite low.

We have forgiven Awolowo also for his deliberate starvation of children and women.

We have also forgiven the men and women in night clubs within Lagos cheering the federal troops that executed the genocide.

Okoro boy disguising as Taofiki, when will you be proud of your identity and stop fraudulent way of life?

It was Yoruba that asked you to be taunting Hausa/Fulani people with your victory over and betrayal of their leaders with whom Zik and your other fore fathers had alliance? After causing trouble and seeing gobe, you now want Yoruba to present their head for cracking coconut? grin grin grin

Until you learn to be benevolent, humble in victory and drop your barbaric village level bush culture which Lugard came to unleash on Nigeria, you will keep having brushes with your hosts. It's mainly your people that have problems with law and order in India, Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia, etc. If Nigeria had a commensurate incarceration rate with similar sized countries, it's most likely your people will have disproportionate representation.

Why are you fond of causing problems and friction whenever you leave your villages and arrive in civilisation?

As if that is not enough the tormentor in chief president and his gang have vow to .
make sure that petrol price hits 1k soon.

Buhari is not God is my last hope.

Why are food prices increasing in USA, UK and many African countries? Is Buhari ruling so many countries at the same time?

UN: Cost of food rises at fastest pace in over a decade

Global food prices have jumped at their fastest monthly rate in over a decade, according to the United Nations.

The UN uses a broad index of global food costs, which have also climbed for 12 months in a row.

Suppliers have been affected by disruptions to production, labour and transport during the pandemic.

Concerns are growing about broader inflation and how higher grocery bills will impact the world's economic recovery.

The UN Food and Agriculture Organization's (FAO) food price index tracks prices around the world of a range of food including cereals, oilseeds, dairy products, meat and sugar.

According to the index, food prices in May were 4.8% higher than April - the biggest monthly rise since October 2010 - and 39.7% higher than this time last year (May 2020).

All five components of the index rose, led by the surging cost of vegetable oils, grain and sugar.

That pushed the index up to its highest overall level since September 2011.

Your next meal is getting more expensive. Here's what's driving the surge in food prices.

June 17, 2021 3:31 PM

Foods is getting more expensive at grocery stores and restaurants.

Some companies are raising prices, while others are selling smaller quantities for the same price.
Supply-chain shortages and poor weather are helping drive higher commodity costs.
See more stories on Insider's business page .
Food prices are surging in grocery stores as well as on restaurant menus.

Last week, Chipotle hiked prices for menu items by about 4%, as the cost of labor and ingredients continues to rise amidst a spike in demand. Red Robin and Cracker Barrel have also increased prices by about 3%, The Wall Street Journal reported. The chains may be forced to further hike prices if commodity costs continue to inflate.

In May, US consumer prices hit their highest level in 13 years , jumping 5% from the previous year, as the cost of meat products and baked goods led the surge in food prices, according to the US Department of Labor.

"We're in a period of unprecedented commodity inflation," Unilever CEO Alan Jope told investors on Monday.

As a result of increased product costs, some companies including Unilever have begun selling products at the same cost, but in smaller quantities.

Even companies that cater to more frugal budgets have been forced to hike prices. Dollar Tree CEO Michael Witynski said in May that the company has struggled to keep prices low.

Why are food prices surging?
Food prices are rising in tandem with a broader inflation trend in the US . While vehicle and fuel costs have led the surge in consumer prices, food prices have also risen as increased demand meets supply-chain snags. Key commodities have become increasingly difficult to obtain due to shipping delays, the national labor shortage , and severe droughts in key countries.

A global shipping-container shortage - which has about 5.5% of all freighters waiting weeks outside of ports to unload, including several key ports in southern California - has made it difficult to transport goods. The delays have put transportation costs at a premium, as companies compete for limited space on container ships and delivery trucks. Overseas transportation costs between Asia and the US have surged about 250% higher from this time last year, according to online freight marketplace Freightos.

Simple economics

Show me one industrialized country that grew without a robust tax system. There is none in reality

We can keep hoping to strike so much oil and have a market to sell 70m barrels of oil daily instead of 1.7m barrels so we can be like UAE that has 2m citizens and exports 3.5m barrels daily. This means there is about $100 available to take care of each UAE citizen while about 40 cents is available for each Nigerian citizen.

How do you trade when you can't invest adequately in seaports to avoid congestion, you have no railway to transport containers cheaply such that it will cost twice transport a container within Nigeria than it cost from China to Lagos port. Who will be interested in buying your exports when transport has made it too expensive by the time it reaches the ports?

Your knowledge of finance and economics is rudimentary and below O-levels at best

The first stage of industrial development is security, mass education and universal healthcare.

An uneducated, unsecured and unhealthy nation can never develop, insecurity is the reason why Nigeria has unsustainable food inflation.

I doubt you can find an industrialised country with a literacy level lower than 50%. I doubt you can fin any county in Southern Africa as backward as Northern Nigeria, maybe North Mozambique can come to close Northern Nigeria backwardness, they have a large Islamic population.

Zambia, Zimbabwe, Angola and Bostwana are currently resource-dependent, but due to their stable security environment and high literacy rate, they are one or two steps from industrialisation. They just need to fix government corruption and set up an industrialisation policy.

Why are the mainly Muslim Maghreb states, Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria, Egypt more advanced and developed than most of the sub-saharan black African states? If Islam is the problem why is the largely Christian states like Congo, Zimbabwe and Angola not very advanced and industrialized?

Just showing you starting on a premises based on bigotry will lead to a wacky conclusion

Politics / Re: Herdsmen In Delta State Reject 5,000sqm Grazing Land Proposed By Lawmakers, Want by Imokay: 5:57pm On Jul 27, 2021
raker300:
The Delta State chapter of the Cattle Dealers Association has rejected the 5,000 sqm of grazing land provided in a new bill by the state lawmakers.

During a public hearing on ‘A Bill for a Law to provide for the Regulation of Livestock Breeding, Rearing and Marketing and to Prohibit Open Grazing and related matters in Delta State’ on Monday, July 26 in Asaba, the herdsmen requested for at least 30,000 square meters of land in each local government area for livestock breeding and marketing across the state.

The hearing was organized by the state House of Assembly Joint Committee on Special Bills and Agriculture and Natural Resources.

A memorandum signed by its Chairman, Alhaji Musa Shuwa, said the 5,000 square metres designated as grazing areas contained in the draft bill was grossly inadequate, because of the facilities expected to be in the area.

He stated, “This (5,000 square metres) is only for the markets. Also, each market takes delivery of not less than 800 cattle every week. Our members hardly sell all their cattle at the market, hence the need to feed the cattle by grazing.

“With the intention of the draft of this bill being to ban open grazing, it is our respectful view that to have cattle within enclosed grazing (for the purpose of ranching) area would mean that a large space of area is needed for this purpose.

“While we acknowledge that the 5,000 square metres mentioned in Section 8(2a) is only the minimum, it is our modest view that even in the minimum, 5,000 square metres of land may not be the best starting point.”

The reason why evil persist is when good men don't talk

When you meet an American will he tell you that there are 39,000 gun deaths in USA, Chicago is more dangerous than Mushin or Sambisa forest, don't come for vacation and live or do business in America? When you land their you'll find out.

But foolish Nigerians will be the one to tell any random foreigner that there is insecurity, don't come, there's bad govt, we have robbers and many true and imagined woes. Even when we have far less gun related or violent deaths in Nigeria.

WHat's the difference? Common sense and basic self interest makes the difference in approach to dealing with issues. Did the American lie to you? No, but he understands his interest more than Nigerians. Nigerians are fond of protecting foreign interest to the injury of their own national interest. It can only be inferiority complex

Meanwhile the same person sayng he cannot lie will approach embassy with false documents, fake age declaration, false bank statement, such that Nigerians are know to foreigners as compulsive liars.

Cost of shipping by train vs truck
The cost to combine rail and truck using a bulk transfer terminal is approximately $95.54 per net ton. By comparison, rail direct is $70.27 per net ton, and over-the-road truck is $214.96 per net ton. Using multi-modal rail and truck transit compared to truck alone, you can cut transportation costs by more than half.2
