Technology coming to save the day.
Soon people suffering from paralysis will be able to enjoy the use of this technology.
Health / A Paralysed Man Lifts Objects With Thought Control Technology by Inspiro100: 5:00pm On Mar 29, 2017
With dozens of electrodes implanted in Bill Kochevar brain and right arm, he was able to grasp and lift objects during trials of the tech in the US.

A quadriplegic man has had his right arm and hand brought back to life with the help of thought-control technology.
Bill Kochevar, 56, was paralysed below his shoulders in a cycling accident eight years ago but can now grasp and lift objects after having two pill-sized electrodes implanted in his brain.
The electrodes record the activity of brain neurons to generate signals that tell another device to stimulate muscles in the paralysed limb.
During trials held at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, Mr Kochevar raised a mug of water to his lips and drank from a straw.

He also scooped forkfuls of mashed potato from a bowl.
Mr Kochevar, from Cleveland, said the technology was "better than I thought it would be".
He said: "For somebody who's been injured eight years and couldn't move, being able to move just that little bit is awesome to me."
The trials were part of the BrainGate2 study, which is exploring the safety and feasibility of using brain-computer interface systems to help people paralysed by spinal injuries.
In preparation, Mr Kochevar learned how to use his brain signals to move a virtual-reality arm on a computer screen.

After four months of practice, another 36 electrodes were implanted into his upper and lower right arm.
Pulses sent through the electrodes trigger muscles to regulate movement of the hand, wrist, arm, elbow and shoulder.
Mr Kochevar was fitted with a mobile support, which he also controls with his brain, to counterbalance the force of gravity.
The 56-year-old told researchers he was able to control the muscle activation system "without having to really concentrate hard at it".
He is believed to be the first person in the world with quadriplegia to have arm and hand movement restored by two kinds of implant.
Research lead Dr Bob Kirsch said the study was "really breaking ground for the spinal cord injury community".
He said: "This is a major step toward restoring some independence."

UK to make babies using DNA from 3 people

LONDON — Britain's Newcastle University says its scientists have received a license to create babies using DNA from three people, the first time such approval has been granted.
The license was granted by the country's fertility regulator on Thursday, according to the university.
In December, British officials approved the "cautious use" of the techniques, which are intended to prevent women from passing on fatal genetic diseases to their children. The new procedures fix problems linked to mitochondria, the energy-producing structures outside a cell's nucleus. Faulty mitochondria can result in conditions including muscular dystrophy and major organ failure.
Last year, U.S.-based doctors announced they had created the world's first baby using such techniques, after traveling to Mexico to perform the methods, which have not been approved in the United States.

Phones / Top Five Most Expensive Smartphones In The World by Inspiro100: 10:59am On Mar 18, 2017
These smartphones will bring luxury to your fingertips – and you would not want to accidentally drop any of these phones onto a hard surface.
These handsets are made from gold and platinum, boasting everything from diamonds to 200-year-old African Blackwood, can cost up to ₦5.62 billion ($12.36 million). They are generally made in very limited runs, for obvious reasons.

So here you have them – Top five most expensive phones on the market:

1: iPhone 5 Black Diamond
An unnamed Chinese businessman splashed out on this £10m (₦5.45 billion) iPhone, which is made of solid gold and features more than 650 diamonds, including a 26-carat black diamond as the home button. It was created by Stuart Hughes, a British designer.

2: iPhone 4s Elite Gold
Do you find ₦5.45 billion too expensive for you? Well, perhaps this one will be more within your price range. For just ₦3.33 billion ($7.4 million), you can have a phone boasting 500 diamonds, a 24-carat gold logo and a compartment including, it claims, pieces of a Tyrannosaurus Rex bone. Who hasn't wished for such a feature?

3: Supreme Goldstriker iPhone 3G 32GB
As well as the popular use of diamonds and gold, this baby has a chest carved from a block of granite and boasts Kashmir gold with an interior lining made of nubuck top-grain leather. It costs around ₦1.44 billion ($3.2 million).

4: GoldVish Le Million
Although it was designed 11 years ago, this striking, gaudy handset is still worth more than ₦553.5 million ($1.23 million). On launch, it earned a mention in the Guinness Book of World Records and production was limited to just three models. It has a solid gold body littered with diamonds.

5: Diamond Crypto Smartphone
Designed by luxury accessories-maker Peter Aloisson, this handset includes "powerful encryption technology," which its manufacturers say protects against kidnapping and technological blackmail. It also features rose gold and includes 50 diamonds, a fifth of which are rare blue diamonds.

Autos / World Largest Airplane (stratolaunch) by Inspiro100: 3:19pm On Mar 14, 2017
Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen who made billions of dollars as Microsoft’s co-founder, is spending millions of dollars on the Stratolaunch air-launch system.
Paul Allen started Stratolaunch five years ago, and since then the venture has been developing a 385 ft-wide, twin-fuselage airplane inside a giant hangar measuring about 103,000 sq-ft at Mojave Air and Space Port in California. Stratolaunch, is part of Paul Allen’s Vulcan Aerospace group, and it aims to begin launching payloads by the year 2020.
The key to the Stratolaunch air-launch system is a twin-fuselage plane that integrates parts from two Boeing 747 jets. It has a wingspan that stretches out to a record-setting 385ft (117m). That is twice the wingspan of a Boeing 747, and more than the length of a football field. In addition the tail of the plane is 50ft (15m) high. The overall length of the plane is 238ft (72m), compared to 224ft (68m) for the Dreamliner – Boeing 787.
Stratolaunch is meant to provide a cheaper and more flexible way to launch satellites into low-earth orbit. The aircraft will carry satellites high into the atmosphere before launching them.
Stratolaunch Systems is in partnership with Orbital ATK on a platform that will make use of the world’s biggest airplane to launch rockets into orbit. The two companies announced that they’ve forged a multi-year, production-based partnership, under which Orbital ATK will provide its Pegasus XL rockets for Stratolaunch’s system.
The rockets will be able to send satellites weighing up to 1,000 pounds into orbit, operating from a wide range of locations and targeting any orbital inclination. Artwork released by Stratolaunch suggests that as many as three rockets can be loaded aboard the airplane in a single flight.
Stratolaunch will undergo its first test flight when it has completely assembled later in the year.

Below are images of the airplane being assembled, an artistic representation of the plane, and Paul Allen standing on the plane's wing.

Autos / World's First Robot Delivery Service by Inspiro100: 5:33pm On Mar 06, 2017
“Just Eat” a U.K.-based company is changing the delivery game. It is responsible for the first delivery of food using a robot in the UK.
The six wheeler robots are designed and manufactured by Starship Technologies, which was established by the co-founders of Skype in 2014.The robots are designed to deliver food, packages and goods to consumers within a short radius of their point of origin.

Although it may sound somewhat unbelievable, these robots have already driven close to 8,000 km and met over 400,000 people without any accident recorded.
When customers place orders, they have the option to choose if the delivery be made by a robot or a delivery person.
If a robot delivery service is chosen, the customer is sent a message when the robot commences the journey. When the robot arrives outside the customer's door, the customer will receive another text message with a code to open the cargo hold of the robot and take out their food.
These robots make use of cameras, sensors and other technology to navigate their way through metropolitan streets, avoiding obstacles and cross roads safely.
At the moment, Just Eat plans to keep its delivery robots exclusive to the U.K.
On the other hand, Starship Technologies the manufacturer the robots are running test deliveries in other parts of the world.
What do you think about having such a great delivery system in Nigeria?

Autos / Honda’s Self Balancing Motorbikes by Inspiro100: 6:10pm On Mar 02, 2017
The fear for most novice motorcyclist is dropping your bike when you get to a stop sign or during a low-speed maneuver. It's easy enough to keep your bike upright at speed, but keeping your bike from wobbling when sneaking through a parking lot can result in you taking a tumble. Honda seems to have a solution and it was first demonstrated at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, USA.
Honda calls this technology “Honda Ride Assist”, and sees it as a way to help riders keep their bikes upright at stoplights, balancing their bikes during a low-speed crawl, and when in tight parking situations.
How it work: The Honda Ride Assist doesn't use gyroscopes or moving weights. The system instead keeps the bike upright with tiny steering inputs.
Honda uses an electronic steer-by-wire system that disengages the handlebars from the front forks at speeds lower than 3 mph, by passing control of the front wheel to its computer. The bike can sense lean angles and swings the wheel to either side, thousands of times per second, to counteract any tendency to overturn. It can also lengthen its wheelbase by automatically adjusting the angles of the front fork rake, lowering the bike’s center of gravity and giving it even more stability.
Under normal balancing, you can hardly tell that anything is happening at all with the front wheel as the bike remains perfectly upright like a ballerina, poised and serene.
Because the handlebars and the forks have separate motors to move them while disconnected in the steer-by-wire mode, they remain synchronized, so the rider retains control for low-speed maneuvering. If the rider accelerates above 3 mph, the two anchors come back into the forks to lock them in place, returning the motorbike to conventional steering.
This solution is not for everyone as most riders can manage their bikes perfectly. However, it would be suitable for riders who want to relax a little bit and not stress out about falling over. It can also be used by elderly riders, or riders shorter in stature. Besides, Honda Ride Assist will be great when riding a heavy bike such as a 900-lb Goldwing.
Though a great addition to any motorbike, there’s no definite timeline in place for when riders might see this tech come to market.

TV/Movies / Game Of Thrones Season 7 by Inspiro100: 1:02pm On Mar 02, 2017
Waiting to see the new season of Game of Thrones? Well, you may have to wait a little longer than usual.
Since the debut of the first episode of “Game of Thrones” in April 2011, new season premiere have always followed this trend. However, if the onion knight (Ser Davos) can be trusted, the much anticipated show won’t air till maybe July 2017.
Liam Cunningham popularly known as Ser Davos, told The Independent "I've been disappointing various people around the world because it was meant to come out in April. It's July now, I think".
He furthermore implied "something special" would happen for the series premiere of season 7.
Some Fans had also anticipated a late showing for the series as filming schedules had been changed.
Season 7 is expected to have three fewer episodes compared to all the others seasons previously aired.
And we were told in July to expect a delay in transmission as the arrival of summer had caused filming to be due to lack of winter.
Also, David Benioff who is a co-creator of the show told UFC Unfiltered podcast: "We pushed everything down the line to get some grim, grey weather, even in the sunnier places that we shoot."
