TheGoodJoe: Unveiling Gandoki as the official comedian doesn't necessarily imply they would be sponsored by NFF. It could simply be a business deal where Gandoki hopes to cash in on. In view of this, Gandoki and his crew would be responsible for their own expense and ticket to RIO. Not sure of Gandoki's business model here, but I strongly doubt the NFF is spending a dime of them. On the young lad being told to sponsor himself, personally, I feel it's not cool. However, Siasia can't spend the money that ain't available. 1 Like |

Bolustic: Akwa Ibom has been relatively peaceful, compared to Rivers, Bayelsa and Delta State. These current developments (Dangote siting their refinery in Lagos and these guys in Akwa-Ibom) is a huge lesson to those militants in the creek and boko-haram in the north that their violent disposition does their local communities little favor. You would only end up destroying critical infrastructure, and invariably scare future investors away. Hope every tribe and community realizes this. 3 Likes |

Business / Re: Hilarious Conversation Between UBA And Guy Who Asked Them For Loan On Twitter by irondome: 4:06pm On Jun 30, 2016 |
fairheven: My response was to a dude blaming GEJ for the crisis in the banking sector which obviously predates GEJ era. However, if you are comparing Sanusi to Soludo, am afraid there ain't much to choose between those two. Sanusi was obviously too aggressive in enforcing his control measures, however Soludo was the bigger danger. He consolidated the banks (with the banks became suddenly bigger over night) WITHOUT robust risk management frameworks and controls. The banks who couldn't effectively manage billions of Naira were suddenly entrusted with trillions of Naira in depositors fund. What do you think would happen to a fellow who squanders #10,000 when he suddenly come across #10,000,000. In the latter part of Soludo's era, several banks flouted the banking single obligor limit without backlash from CBN. The controls were simply not there. |

joborskill: Must everything be about GEJ and PMB. And for the records, the mess in the banking sector started with Soludo era, pre-2010 and Jonathan regime. Sanusi inherited an already sick banking sector when he became the CBN governor in 2009. 158 Likes 11 Shares |

tbaba1234: About half of the guys invited would not make it to Brazil (17 in 35), and most of those the average folks listed above may likely be casualties. Do me a favor, draw up your name 18-man list (particularly your 15-man list without the overage players) without looking at 35 Siasia's list. I bet you would realize that 80% of the names in your 15-man list would be in Siasia's 35-man list. |
Sports / Re: All The News About The Olympic Eagles (U-23) HERE! by irondome: 2:38am On Jun 27, 2016 |
TheGoodJoe: I reckon only 15 out fields players are Brazil bound. Suffice to state that he can't invite everybody. A comprehensive listing of all the names being hawked around here is well over 15. Invariably, some good players like Isaac Success are bound to miss out. I also guess his kneel-jerking decision to bring in an experienced keeper was as a result of Emmanuel's flop against the Danes. The truth really is, Siasia has never had much use for overage players. He went to Beijing Olympics with just 2 overage players and one of them consistently sat on the bench. And guess what, he would have won Gold if not for the mercurial Messi. Let's give him a chance and if he flopped, that may as well be the nail on the coffin of his coaching career with the national teams |

tbaba1234: Chikatara is good, but isn't far ahead of Ajayi. I wouldn't drop Ajayi who I relied on in securing the tickets for him. Mind you, Ajayi brings on board an edge of foreign exposure and confidence, having consistently done well at CS Sfaxien for a year now. I also wouldn't drop Etebo and Usman for the likes of Ifeanyi Mathew and Nwobodo some have been advocating for. There isn't much difference between them. The only notable omission in his list would be Success. He probably prefers playing Moses from the left over an Isaac Success. |

TheGoodJoe: It would probably be a commitment issue. Remember Ikeme left the nation cup qualifier camp over some minor stomach upset; and subsequently flew back to the UK. Patriots would have preferred he stayed back to help boost the team's morale. I guess he needs a keeper he can totally rely on and would give his 100%. Enyeama is retired, Ikeme disappointed him once; and Daniel isn't so much of a shitty keeper. Personally, I don't think we need Daniel anyway; the 2 under 23 keepers (Emmanuel and Yusuf) are good enough. However, I can understand his choice over Ikeme |

Icon4s: You guys should cut Sia1 some slack nah. He seems to favor and reward loyalty, obedience and hard work; which might be his focal point of his coaching philosophy. He probably feels it would be a bit unfair to fly into Brazil with a totally different set of players from the ones used in securing the qualifying ticket. Ajayi, Awoniyi and few others labored so hard for the ticket; discarding them for players who are only slightly better, would be a bit unfair. For instance, I don't not see much difference between Chikatara and Ajayi; as such, prioritizing the former (who never kicked a ball for the qualifying matches) over the latter (who gladly flew in from Tunisia to honor invitations) would be harsh. Furthermore, some of these players Siasia left out did a poor job in handling previous invitations extended to them. For example, Sokari forced himself out of the African Games camp to play an inconsequential match in Nigeria, literary damning the coach. Most importantly, he is still the coach and has the final say. He knows the players he can work effectively with. Great teams are usually not forged by great individual players. Ranieri proved that with Leicester last season. For the records, am not advocating that we discard our best players for some loyalty crap, but hey, don't discard all the old players either. Bring in the exceptional goods ones -Kelechi, Iwobi, Moses, Ndidi; and retained the old players who have proved their worth like Etebo. 2 Likes 1 Share |

ogmask: Fayose isn't so smart, however, I don't think he is dumb enough to use a fake banker's face in his life & death case with EFCC. Suffice to assume that those guys are indeed Zenith Bank staff (definitely not the EDs, may be the relationship manager or branch manager in Ekiti). I strongly believe those guys are begging for something lot more important than their jobs; there is bigger crime/fraud they are involved in (possibly involving the governor himself) that may put them in jail. Either ways, Fayose seems to be blackmailing them here. 5 Likes |
Politics / Re: Fayose: Zenith Bank Officials Kneeling To Beg by irondome: 8:05am On Jun 24, 2016 |
MisterMetro: My takes are: 1. There is no smoke without fire, it's very much possible that Zenith Bank made some donations, which may be a fraction of what Fayose actually spent on his campaign. Unfortunately, Fayose may be using that as a ruse to hoodwink EFCC that his election was fully funded by Zenith Bank. Either ways, the bank officers are in trouble with EFCC, which may explain their pleading demeanor. 2. If the management of bank allowed a single state governor tarnish its reputable brand like Fayose is currently doing, then the bank is most likely complicit in some shady deals that Fayose may be privy to. These unfolding events should be a "tell sign" to EFCC that Zenith has something worst they are hiding, and invariably, they should be thoroughly investigated. Either ways, EFCC should turn the heat on Zenith bank, and other banks; and get them to roll on Fayose. And if the banks would roll, EFCC should pick up account officers and relationship managers in charge of those accounts; am sure those poor folks would gladly roll against both the bank and the governor. 2 Likes 1 Share |
