Phones / Nigeria Is 7th ‘most Generous’ Nationto Get Free Phone Airtime by Itnews: 1:08am On Sep 12, 2014 |
Nigeria is the seventh most generous country in the world where people get free phone airtime from abroad, according to a survey that wanted to know which nation’s immigrants send more mobile airtime to family and friends living in their homeland. KeepCalling, the company behind MobileRecharge.com, a provider of telecoms solutions: mobile recharges (direct top ups, airtime credit or mobile load), Voice Credit for calls and SMS, wanted to guage how generous its customers have been with folks back home, “no matter where customers are currently living.” The study conducted by the telecoms solutions provider was to further reveal the “Top 10 Most Generous Nations in the World” where citizens living abroad are more generous and express their care by sending a mobile top up back home. MobileRecharge.com said it took a close look at its records in order to reveal which nation’s immigrants send more mobile top ups to family and friends living in their homeland. The question asked was simple: which citizens living abroad are more generous and kind and express their care by sending a mobile top up back home? MobileRecharge is not the only company interested in people’s generosity level. The 2013 World Giving Index states the world became a more generous place than the previous year. The average percentage of people donating money, volunteering time and helping strangers all grew, despite a fall in the rate of growth of the global economy. Fortunately, MobileRecharge.com reports show the same conclusion, the company said underscoring that love, care and affection can now be expressed in the currency of phone airtime. http://www.technologytimes.ng/nigeria-7th-generous-nation-get-free-phone-airtime/ |

Technology Market / Why Lg’s Gen Cool Inverter V Is The Most Complete Air Conditioning Solution by Itnews: 9:33am On Jul 28, 2014 |
In many parts of Nigeria, the heat could be unbearable especially during the dry season. As a result, most people who want to use air conditioners would need a high capacity generator, since electric power supply is mostly epileptic. That’s why LG Electronics is introducing its latest Residential Air Conditioning (RAC) which meets the demands of customers who want to use Air Conditioners in Nigeria with small capacity generators. Specially designed for Nigerian market, the LG GEN COOL Inverter V Air Conditioner comes with benefits such as affordability, energy efficiency and durability. The AC allows you to save running cost by maximum 40% through LG advanced inverter V technology, offers about 75% generator size reduction with Gen mode and provides stronger and wider protection. Unlike the conventional AC (i.e ON/OFF types) which requires a big-sized generator to start the AC due to their high start-up electric power, LG’s GEN COOL Inverter V AC can be started with smaller generators due to LG’s innovative inverter technology. In accordance with LG, for the normal mode 1HP AC needs 1.5 KVA generator while 1.5 HP requires 1.7KVA and 2HP needs 2.2KVA. Thus, the LG GEN COOL Inverter V Air Conditioner comes with the GEN Mode which allows for the use of small capacity generator in areas where electric supply is insufficient, eliminating the need for a large generator. So with the AC’s GEN Mode feature, you can minimize startup electric requirements. Users who desire to use AC with lower capacity other than the above mentioned generator types can choose Gen- Mode on remote control (for 1HP- 0.9KVA; 1.5HP- 1.1KVA; 2.0HP- 1.5KVA); but in the case of Gen-Mode, the power performance goes down by around 30%. “Going with our notion of Africa at heart we introduced products with local relevance. Starting with Plasma, Titan AVS, Mosquito Away air-conditioners & our latest energy-efficient solution, the GEN COOL Inverter V AC, which allows 1HP AC to run on small capacity generators of 0.9 KVA with Gen Mode .This air conditioner comes with Eco-friendly refrigerant -R410A”, says Mr. Deog Jun Kim, Managing Director of LG Electronics West Africa. The AC also performs well regardless of electricity supply issues or extreme outdoor temperatures. It also features an upgraded power circuit board (PCB) and corrosion-resistant technologies that ensure greater operational longevity. “LG’s GEN COOL Inverter V offers Nigerian consumers efficiency, cost saving and durability,” said General Manager, Air Conditioning and Energy Solutions, LG Electronics West Africa operations, Mr. Junhwa Jeong. “Thanks to the innovative GEN Mode, our latest air conditioner can work effectively when being run off a small capacity generator. Not even high outdoor temperatures or power grid failure can prevent this impressive model from providing strong, reliable cooling. LG will continue to meet the needs of the African RAC market with a comprehensive range of residential solutions.” Unlike many other residential air conditioners, the GEN COOL Inverter V works well when powered by a small capacity generator. The GEN Mode, which utilizes LG’s inverter Hz control technology, reduces the voltage necessary for startup and reliable operation. As a result, the GEN COOL Inverter V is able to run on 60 to 70 percent less electricity than most conventional models. LG’s new RAC solution for Nigeria combines excellent functionality with dependability and rugged durability. An upgraded power circuit board (PCB) is responsible for the air conditioner’s wide 145V to 350V operational range. It also enables the GEN COOL to cope with power surges of up to 500V. Meanwhile, the double powder coating and Platinum Fin protect the compressor from wear and corrosion, which in turn contributes to greater operational longevity. According to Mr. Mohammed Fouani, Managing Director, Fouani Nigeria Limited, “Customers who value durability, stability and powerful performance will find the LG GEN COOL Inverter V as the perfect addition to their apartments. The air conditioner reduces indoor temperatures fast; sending out a large volume of 18 degrees Celsius airflow for 30 minutes. The GEN Mode allows the air conditioner to operate effectively when powered by a small capacity generator, even at a capacity as low as 2KVA.” Effective at combating the relentless Nigerian heat, the tremendous cooling capabilities of the GEN COOL Inverter V, no doubt delivers supreme comfort. With the Jet Cool function activated, LG’s RAC sends out a cool blast of 18 degrees Celsius airflow for a period of 30 minutes; drastically reducing the indoor temperature in almost no time at all. With the unveiling of the new LG GEN COOL Inverter V, LG Electronics has once more indicated its commitment to continually develop efficient, effective and highly durable air conditioning solutions tailored to the needs of consumers in Nigeria. 1 Like |
