I am getting confused here, somebody please explain these parts circled in red: first, I find it hard to believe that in the 60s, there are documents whose date can start with 20...... considering this was a certificate issued in 1960 something, it raises question of authenticity if the claim here is that this copy is an exact photocopy of the original certificate.

The most disturbing one is the SSCE/WASSCE/NECO Examination on the statement of result. I want to understand this clearly, does it mean the NECO exam was in existence in 1961 or so, I don't get how NECO came into a statement of result that is alleged to have been issued in 1961. This is very confusing to me....can any of his supporters please throw light on this.

If someone is ignorant...let's educate him. see response below.

check the signed date. The principal rewrote the result on this form. This is why it is called statement of result. You will agree that the principa cannot get the same form with which they write statement of result in 1961.

How thoughtful of Mr. Fashola. He must also remember that while he spends days complaining of GEJ and FG roads which are in poor shape in Lagos he must remeber that for every Apapa-Oshodi Expressway, there is an Ejigbo Road and Ago Okota road which he has the responsibility of putting in shape.

It's not all bad news for GEJ. While FAshola and his SIEC could not conduct a credible election in Lagos, GEJ and his INEC have conducted far better elections in Ekiti, Osun, Ondo and Edo states.

He who comes to equity must come with clean hands. It took the defeat of PDP in Ekiti for Fashola to reduce LASU school fees.

Nigerians and the Doctors will suffer for this again. Let's be honest, I don't expect brain drain. I'm not aware of countries falling over themselves to have Nigerian trained doctors rather hurdles are being created to prevent Nigerian trained doctors practicing outside our shores especially in saner climes.

I don't comment on things I know nothing about. I insist this Bamigbetan guy is a fraud. He throws parties every Friday and shares money to his body guards and associates without doing any developmental project.
His house is on Ona Iwa Mimo street at Ori-oke Ejigbo and the residents have begged him so many times to bring some joy to the roads in that community but he's done nothing instead he's moved out to posher areas of Lagos.
For starters he can implore the state government contractor to fix the drainages they have been working on for 1 year to finish it and reduce the Chaos from Iyana Ejigbo to Ori-oke. This 3.7M is not even enough for him to share.
I will be waiting to hear what he did with the money rather than how they did fund raising. He should tell us what he has done with his allocation and IGR In over 3 years.
agbameta:
That was what was collected in one day which sounds to me like a huge amount in one sitting for a small local government.
Btw, do you know how much they've collected so far? Of course you don't
You know you can help out by donating 50 million instead of running your mouth on the internet. Is there something in that city 3.7 million can not help or alleviate?
Again, you might want to laugh at that shallow and ignorant thought.

I can't help out because these guys are fraudsters. If he can't do anything with over 100M then he won't do anything with 4M.
Politics / Re: Ejigbo Road Trust Fund Realises N3.7m At Launch. Eko O Ni Baje O by jacobs123(m): 5:46pm On Jan 04, 2014
I don't know what the OP is trying to spin. 10 times that amount can't even fix drainage so this is not worthy of a news item.
I also happen to know these THIEF called Bamigbetan. He was staying at Ori-oke Ejigbo but did not fix any road or drainage and ran away from Ejigbo because the roads in Ejigbo are not motorable.
There is an ongoing attempt to fix the drainage at Iyana Ejigbo but this has been going on for over a year and you can tell the clown who got the contract is grossly incompetent.
Another problem in Ejigbo is that of the overbearing influence of the Oba at Iyana Ejigbo. He is a nuisance value in that area.
One of the so called big donors- chief Akinrogun built his house on the road at ori-oke area and forcefully collects money from Shop owners. I doubt if he can even contribute 50k.
I see this Bamigbetan as a fraud who has been using his experience as a former journalist to spin news in his favour. He recently got an award as best local government chairman but you only need to visit Ejigbo to realize that there is no development going on in the area and it's been like that for a while.
3.7 million Naira is not a drop in the ocean for road development in Ejigbo but a foolish and ridiculous attempt at spinning news for the chairman

I cannot think of any other country where an elected official will tell youths to create jobs for themselves and still hope to be re-elected. We have irresponsible people in Government and ignorant people as their followers.

Infact Goverements are brought down or changed if they can't create jobs for their people. I doubt if Obama can tell Amercian youths to create jobs for themselves even when he knows they can and infact have been creating.

Am very sure that 90percent of us here are novice when it comes to aviation business. As a Cabin Crew, I still know some details concerning the passenger traffic.

Moreso, some people even talk as if we are so rich in this country. How many nairalander has travelled out of this country not to talk of travelling with an aeroplane within Nigeria.

For me the above is at the heart of the matter. we are too poor, we have no arilines carrying people through our country, Ethipia has and Libya had and people also donot have a complelling reason to visit our country and we don't go out too. London with comparable poulation with Laogs has Heathrow, gatwick, Stanstead, luton. Scotland with population of 5 million people has Glasgow, Edinbugh and Aberdeen. All the people making noise on this thread some have not travelled in 1 year and you are beating your chest about Lagos or Enugu.
Politics / Re: Why Enugu Airport May Not Be Profitable by jacobs123(m): 4:19pm On Aug 10, 2013
Another interesting that just occurred to me is this: Ask your self why China with its billion people only has only 6-7 airpots in the list compared with US ofover 12, Indonesia and India with over 1 billion people also just 1 or 2 airports there. You need middle class people and reason for coming there. Let's not forget that China is still the world's factory.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World's_busiest_airports_by_passenger_traffic#2012_statistics

Once again I'm still is support of Enugu airport and against all these bickering rather let's focus on creating the middle class we need. As we speak, lagos traffic is estimated at around 6 million people in a year and these includes those gong to Accra, Doualla, Gambia, Senegal, South Africa. Is that really what we can do as with 160 Million people?
Politics / Re: Why Enugu Airport May Not Be Profitable by jacobs123(m): 3:59pm On Aug 10, 2013
It is always surprising how people bicker about which SW versus SE or even NOrth. Our concern should be how to improve the lives of people all over Ngeria and not LAgos going down so Enugu can prosper.

Having said that, the whole of Nigeria does not even generate enough traffic. we claim we are 160 million people but compare it UK, SA and other countries that have similar population. Remember these airlines want what is most convenient for them. How many people have compelling reasons to travel out of this country once in a month and can afford to. That is the market for the airlines. You need a lot of middle class people and not just few mega rich people like Abuja.
If you check the link below, compare the annual traffic and find out the city or the state's population, you will realize that it's not just about the population of that city or region you need.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World's_busiest_airports_by_passenger_traffic#2012_statistics

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_the_busiest_airports_in_Canada

what will bring people to the place and what will make them keep travelling often or else you may one airline but you don't like the connections available so you still have to come to LAgos.

Personally, I think Enugu International is a welcome developmet for us as a nation and hopefuly it will spur other things into action and these will help create jobs but let's remember that Enugu and Lagos can propser together. Their propserity is not mutually exclusive and we should get away from this village thinking of either you or me because it can be all of us.

And considering the fact tht its just refurbishment and expansion and not building from scratch. Mehn tht cost is obviously mind buggling.

jacobs123:

The cost is still better than Tinubu and Fashola's LCC road which was to cost N50 billion for ~49KM. It was also given to a contractor (HITECH) that basically learnt and bought its equipment on the job. If this road also gets done in 4 years which is quite possible with Julius Berger then PDP would have scored a good one over ACN. Kudos to Amosun, he didn't allow the beaf get in the way.
If GEJ manages to do this and fix power, Nigerian will have no choice than to allow him a second term of 4 years to do nothing but STEAL which is what I think has always been the ACN style. Wow them in 1st 4 years, steal them blind in next 4 years.
Compare the terrains of both projects and complexities involved. The Lekki-Epe highway is a very quality road and i am waiting to see hw quality the Lagos-Ibadan 1 will be.

I will admit that I don't what the cost of a Kilometer of Road should be in Nigeria but if we consider the Poster Boy of Tinubu/Fashola's achievement which is the Lekki-Epe Road, then the contract cost for Lagos ibadan Road is justifiable. I 'ld say they have similar scope but Lagos-Ibadan is obviously more complex than Lekki-Epe Road. The PDP contract was also given to established contractors with track record but ACN contract was given to "The Boyz" with no equipment or track record. The ACN contract even though several years behind schedule (obviously there must be cost over-run) is clearly a poor job with few potholes already and many uneven surfaces.

$1bn is not much if you know the cost involve in such construction. Contractors fee, consultants, transportation of raw material, human resources etc. Building a house can be cheap but then building a solid house is something else. More importantly, we get to save lives on a quality road. Live is worth $billions and more.

Truckpusher: Nigeria labor union should rise up against contract job offers to Engineers and Technicians in the oil and gas industry .It's modern slavery in disguise. Worst still you're being enslaved by the political elites, the fictitious oil and gas companies and other servicing companies that pays Nigerians peanut while they use almost 3/4 of your salary to settle political armed robbers all in the name of setting up a company with local content character and all the bla blah blah they say to fool the average jobless Nigerian youth that will accept anything to survive.

A lot of people prefer these contract jobs if you are highly skilled. Guys earn ~$1500 per day on these contract jobs working as reservoir engineers, drilliong engineers, pipeline engineers. The contract you are probably referring to is the labour and service contract they offer to roles which do not involve Very Highly skilled jobs but even at that these guys earn more than your average banker who works 5am to 9pm everyday.

I get your drift on the contract roles you are referring to but there's not much that can be done about it. It's sometimes like Tellers in a bank....I don't think they are staff roles which ever you look at it. Sometimes also, these jobs are tied to project. Why should I employ a pipeline engineer as a staff if I only have a 3 year contract to build the pipeline. An example is the Egina project by TOTAL, you don't expect them to employ full staff for all the jobs on the project.

Gaybriel: Gov. MIMIKO is a very funny man. How can he compare his achievement to Tinubu's 8 years. I was in Lagos during Tinubu's tenure and I'm currently living in Akure. The truth is that if Mimiko was to be in Lagos, he can only be a local govt chairman. All what he's doing his the work of local councils. Virtually everybody in Ondo state is a graduate but no good jobs only taxi drivers and okada riders. Funny enough, they love such lifestyle. If Ondo state continues like this, I can't wait to finish my program and run back to Lagos.

And was it Tinubu that created the jobs in Lagos? If the other states were serious especially N.Delta states many investors would have left Lagos. The jobs created by Tinubu are LASTMA, LAWMA, KAI etc. Even Marwa built MARWA MARWA gardens in less that 3 years. While I will concede that Tinubu was about the best in his class of Governors it doesn't mean he performed well given the resources at his disposal and I guess Fashola's first 3 years proved that not forgetting that Fashola's period coincided with the great RECESSION. LEKKI-EPE way has been on since 2006, not even 60% complete even with the low quality, TEJUOSHO market is still under construction.

It surely can't be DEMOCRACY because all these people with Idiotic comments will have a say. The greatest flaw of our democracy is you can't exclude the votes of Criminals and Foolish people and they are just too many of these in our society.

Until we find a way to exclude the votes of some people, we have no business with Democracy in my opinion.

Sagamite: If I was Fashola, I would take them back on the following terms:

- They will be employed at the grade below their previous level and with its corresponding pay. Anyone that was at the entry grade would hence spend an extra year at that grade and pay.
- They are all on two year probation/contract. Hence if you take the offer and then start to cause trouble or be non-cooperative you would get the boot easily.
- Any ineterested person has to sign the punitive contract within 2 weeks.

This probably explains why the condition of the average is still below that of an average dog in Europe. No matter how exposed a Nigerian is, once given Leadership responsibility, he becomes very selfish and just doesn't understand the concept of common good, the value of lives and the fact that a labourer is worthy of his wages. The fact that you employed someone even if it's your housemaid doesn't mean the person is you servant. This is why David Cameron is not the highest earning Government worker. Now we know why RICH Nigerians rush to UK for their healthcare needs and why everyone wants to be a politician in NIGERIA.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1312358/4-000-GPs-earn-Prime-Minister.html

This is the same Fashola who happily pays the former Governor the same salary he earns as the current Governor (is that even morally right)
This is the same Fashola that was alleged to have flown his own Dad out of the country for medical reasons
Why can't Fashola cut the cost of Governance in Lagos by reducing commissioners and Special advisers and the allowances of his legislators
why do we have 37 LCDAs in Lagos which is essentially used in settling the BOYS
what has he done to reduce the cost of living in Lagos

I'm not exactly in support of Doctors going on strike everytime but when you are faced with useless, clueless, Ignorant, Arrogant and selfish Governments, the type that abound in NIGERIA (of which Fashola's Government is one even though not high on the list), sometimes you are not left with much choice. I say this with all sense of responsibility knowing that people have lost loved ones in this needless ego clash.

The truth is that Professionals have been despised in NIGERIA for a long time no thanks to Politicians and we the citizens have been colluding with them silently and we're paying the price. That's why we all have to send our Children to private schools, visit private hospitals etc.

We need to start rethinking how our society is ordered!

HNosegbe: The text quoted below is the silliest post I have ever seen on Nairaland:

For the love of all that is good, how can someone say he will vote for Jonathan in 2015 because a district was named after him? How can a right-thinking individual say GEJ "single-handedly" invented cassava bread? Men, I have seen silly posts on NL, but this trumps them all.

And FYI, I started using Facebook in 2008, TWO years before Goodluck Jonathan became president.

I don't think you were using the real facebook. GEJ was the one that brought facebook to Nigeria. I tthink you need to go facebook's website and get the Goodluck Jonathan version for NIGERIA and then you will see what you've been missing.

HNosegbe:
On average, it takes two years for a govt to establish itself. GEJ spent close to a year with inherited machinery and has spent another with his own machinery. I would expect to begin seeing very solid results in the next few months.

Take a look at Obama for example, just last year, his popularity was in the doldrums with wave after wave of attacks by the tea parties and accusations of betrayal and failure from diverse quarters. The man seemed hesitant and unsure, a woeful distance from the guy that strutted the campaign trail like a prize peacock.
But look at him today, 3 years in, popular and totally comfortable in his skin.
So long as GEJ means well, we will all be satisfied in the end.

Beaf don't mind them, they think the fact Goodluck has been in Asorock since 2007 as Vice president means he was part of Government. Oga GEJ was simply washing Madam Turai's plates until 2010 when God answered his prayers and turned the Houseboy to president. That is what I call a MIRACLE. I think you are being optimistic expecting something in the next few months.........Methinks he needs minimum of 8 years!
