Education / How Much Did You Spend On Your First Degree Final Year Project? by jaidor: 4:04pm On Apr 06, 2013
For a while now i've been so curious about the fact that science students spends a whole lot of money on their final year project as compared to other deciplines like management science, social science, Law, arts etc

In my findings I realized that this is because of the non-availabilty of necessary equipments needed to carry out scientific analysis in our universities.
I know of someone who is planing to send his sample abroad for proper analysis.

Without much delay, I need you guys to share your experience about your Final year project;
1. How much was the sum total of money you spent on it.
2. Did your school provide all the facilities u used or u had to take ur samples to other places for analysis (If so where?)
3. For other deciplines what were the aspect that u spent most on?

4. Is my assertion about science projects being highest money demanding compared to all other deciplines in our universities True of False?

@miz4oxley

OMG anoda deranged fellow. Ok let's do it this way, u provide me with the matic numbers of the guys in question and i'll verify dis within 5minutes...FYI a UNILAG student who tried to impersonate in my dept. in 2011 was caught by a professor in my dept in the exam hall, n instantly on that spot the then dean of faculty of science made a call through to the VC of unilag n notified him of the incident. Consequently, both the guy (he was confirmed to be in 300l at unilag) and d lady he was impersonating for (a 200l Lasuite) Lost their studentship. Dis happened in my dept. and I witnessed d whole scenerio, infact I have lots of proof for you if you care.

Moreover, there is no way anybody could av forged LASU's exam card cos it is usually issued by the administraion and distributed to students thru the HODs its nt a paper as you might think....it's usually in an elaborately designed laminated format. It's virtaully impossible to fake it.

You probably made up dis poo to damage LASU's image.....
Anyway dat's ur problem/opinoin n urs alone till u ***. Take it or leave they did the convocation today, graduated 21 1st class, best graduating student had 4.82CGPA(chemical and polymer engineering, epe campus), all d graduands are moving on, going for service nxt month.

If you have issues with dat...just try commit suicide (go hang urself)

miz4oxley: LASU of all Schools. I have a guru friend in YABATech who just graduated that's always coming to LASU to write exams for a matey who stays in my area, and his friends. LASU exams isn't so secured during exams, no fair arrangement, anyone could easily hop into the exams hall after forging their exams photocard unchecked by the invigilators and represent someone. And, now they've bagged 2.1, I mean the guys my friend sat for, cos, whenever he goes to write the paper he supplies that crew that surrounds him. Guess one of them bagged 1st Class knowing fully well he can't compete outta. Pls, run for their certs, cos its cheaper and useless that the paper its been printed on. Chei.... Hail thee LASU!

searay: I know very well, with my 2:2 from UNIUYO, I can compete with any 1st Class poo from LASU.

ODE!
Better thank ur God cos if u had been to LASU then u definitely would have ended up with a PASS or if u're dat brilliant a 3rd Class. Besides d last time I checked, Uniuyo was at number 21st on the Nigerian Universities ranking (www.4icu.org). That made it so evident that LASU (though a state uni) is far better than ur school.

Mr. Ajasa, it may interest you to know that i am not a student of the dept of mathematics, i'm just trying to advise the neophythes for them not to regret their decisions later.

I did some of their courses from ma 1st year to 3rd year, but now i am thru with them, n I must tell that the experience is nt what i ll want anybody to witness.

SO LET HE/SHE THAT HAS EAR LISTEN TO THE ADVISE!

I'm so sorry if this is coming to you guys late....

This post iS mainly 4 d prospective students of LASU dat wishes to study mathematics as his or her course of study in d university.
Pls note dat d department of math, faculty of science is a deadly trap. If you really have d vision of graduating with good grades, why am i saying this?

1. This is a department dat has the largest numba of failed student records in d university. (year in year out i.e constant) 2. SOME of its lecturers r not up to standard, yet they set d most standardized exam questions amongst all Nigerian university 3. They don't give mark based on what u score(if u av a high score) in ur exam script, except 4 minor cases. They want a compromise before dat's done
4. They r TOO strict with marking of exam scripts
5. Only about 7% of its student can boast of a GP 3.5(neva had a 1st class student that I know of)
6. If you must have an A in any of its undergraduate course then you must be a post-graduate math student sumwhere else or u must be a "wizard".
7. Its lecturers don't teach to enable u undrstnd d course rather they come to class give note nd go.
7. Some of its lecturers may not attend class up to three(3) times yet they'll set thier exam questions
8. most times they don't set exam questions base on what they tought in class.
9. And finally, SOME of its lecturers are corrupt.

So are you ready to bear all this burdens? You may end up not graduating with what u ought/want to and hence not securing a good job in d labour market. However if you have already registered math as ur course of study be ready to bear d brunt n b prayerful 4 a +ve change. Else THINK TWICE BEFORE YOU APPLY 4 d course even if they gave you math as the only available choice try and look for a better alternative, because many students now in d department r regreting thier actions. BE AWARE! largest numba of failed student records in d university. (year in year out i.e constant.

WISH YOU ALL A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE IN LAGOS STATE UNIVERSITY.

Education / Re: Breaking News -->>> ASUU-lasu Pull Out Of General Strike by jaidor: 10:44am On Jan 31, 2012
@luvola, what was LASU-ASUU conclusion yesterday, pull out or they wait 4 others to decide?

LASU in d first instance is nt suppose to join the strike because students should not pay 250k avg and yet av delayed academic year it's abosolutely absurd, this should have been part of the agreement btw when they increased the sch fee, moreover it is a very genuine issue that the SUG shud av fougth for I wonder y they did'nt.

LASU must pull out of the strike coz dat so called ASUU is a selfish inconsiderate union nd is not yet ready to call-off d strike.
Education / Re: We Wont Call Of Strike - ASUU by jaidor: 9:16am On Jan 31, 2012
The Buttom line is when you av an igbo man as d president what do u xpect? He's using igbo sense, he knows he'll/they'll get paid while sitting at home and venturing into other bussiness hence making more MONEY at the expense of the nigerian students and their parents. May God vindicate the students.

Education / Re: LASU Law Rated Best In Africa by jaidor: 11:35pm On Dec 11, 2011
(sorry about the break)

Finally, back to LASU most comments have so much damaged the image of LASU sequel to this topic, which is supposed to be the contrary(atleast it's good news).
LASU is not as bad as most of those comments envisaged, LASU is currently the best state university and the 10th best university in Nigeria according to the 4icu ranking. So I see no reasons why it deserves those nasty comments, moreover it's a state funded university and most the critics compared it with federal schools like unilag, ui which definitely have much improved facilities and adequate funding.

In conclusion, LASULAW law may not be the best in Nigeria/Africa but they obviosly did well in the competion. Remember everyone's entitled to his/her opinion and that we can always agree to disagree. Peace
Education / Re: LASU Law Rated Best In Africa by jaidor: 11:30pm On Dec 11, 2011
Yes LASULAW may not be the best in Nigeria and Africa as a whole but that does not give you the platform to ridicle the school and to also perturb others to agree with your opinion(which is almost impossible) the irony of life is that everyone is entitled to his or her opinion. Thus everyone's opinion counts. On the other hand we can always 'AGREE TO DISAGREE' (which I think is the best option in this case) this means everyone keep his/her opinion to himself/herself , to be continued in a moment
Education / Re: LASU Law Rated Best In Africa by jaidor: 11:26pm On Dec 11, 2011
I'd been following this topic for quite a while and my PERSONAL conclusion is that everyone seems to portray excessive egotism in his/her comment.

LASU students were reported to be the only candidates from africa that made it to round 16, and were applaused by the organisers of competition.

Now, @luvola this does not in anyway make LASULAW the best in Nigeria nor in Africa as this is just a competition. Although kudos should be given to them for 'reping' Nigeria and Africa to that extent. hence your assertion was not condoned.

@sagamite, kobojunkie, tezza and the likes, your comments were absolutely unpleasant and too aggresive u guys should have expressed your comments in a more courteous manner(at least as a well learned graduate/undergraduate), to be continued
