Politics / Re: Iwu: Nigerian Politicians Are Political Crime Sponsors - by JamesG: 3:59pm On Aug 15, 2009
The judiciary has also failed us – this is the only reason why these politicians with criminal tendencies can reign with impunity. So what do we have – the judiciary, the executive branch, and legislative body, have all failed the Nigerian people – we have nothing! This’ why Soyinka and other laureates continue to say Nigeria is closer to being a failed state than ever.

There’s no branch of the government demonstrating democracy – A government of the people by the people. So the people must take over their government!
Politics / U.s. Got It Wrong, Says Pdp by JamesG: 3:15pm On Aug 15, 2009
"Her sweeping statements on what she called a 'failure of leadership' does not correspond with the reality of present-day Nigeria where a committed leadership, operating within the realm of the rule of law holds sway"- Prof. Rufa'i Ahmed Alkali.

http://allafrica.com/stories/200908140747.html

Could it be that the Yar’Adua administration are that ignorant of the bad polity in Nigeria – or they choose to ignore the obvious. I think Hillary Clinton was right on the mark, when she compared the elections in Nigeria with that of the US in 2001, specifically the electorate in the State of Florida governed by Jeb Bush. As a matter of fact, I think she was being quite diplomatic in this comparison – there’s really no comparison not even by African standards. Is it possible that the administration does not know what goes on in this forum and other similar blogs? If so it is time for the populace to move into the streets and try to effect change by any peaceful means necessary.
Politics / Re: Is Nigeria Gradually Turning Into An Islamic Country? by JamesG: 6:36pm On Aug 13, 2009
ezeagu:

If it's turning into an Islamic country it's even better than what it is becoming now, look at Qatar and Malaysia.

Don't forget Iraq, Iran, and Afganistan - women have absolutely no right, Sharia for the poor reigns. Oh yes why not,  it is really serve the average Northerner well.

chidichris:

mrally obj stinks. if anyone is talking about better president, who among our past presidents was so dirty as to sleep with his own daughter inlaw.
who among our past presidents killed like obj? who among our past presidents was bold enough to tell us that the next election was going to be a do or die affairs? who among our past presidents was president and petrolium minister the same time? obj is the worst thing that happened to humanity.  mugabe is far much better than the idiot that has turned nigerians into slaves all over the world.
the beast spent a whole lot of funds on our power sector only to make it worse yet some fools here are out to tell us obj is the best president. if he is better, who is he better than?
why after his presidential position, he decides to make himself the bot chairman of pdp? just to die in power.
nonoe of u supporters of obj is interested on how much he spent of power supply, security, roads, education, etc and the output of the said amounts.
why is it that nigeria is the only country of this world without electricity? how come eight yrs plus two of yar adua is not enough for him to help us with power supply? why is he more interested in turning everybody into pdp member rather than making the ppl feel the importance of all the mineral resources God has blessed us with?
who among our past presidents killed his attorney general? only obj. the blood tasty idiot must pay for all the blood he wasted and wasting.

Is it really necessary to lie about OBJ - the true enemy of Nigerians is IBB.
Politics / Re: Prosecute Obasanjo Then We Will Have A Corrupt Free Nigeria by JamesG: 4:38pm On Aug 13, 2009
Cos Yar'Dumb is a just a muppet.
It is all a plan by OBJ to make his admin looks good, forgetting that even a dog as the head will be better than the lame duck of a leader
OBJ is a very skilled politician - but I think you are giving a litttle too much. Is like saying Clinton handed over to Bush(worse president in US history) because he(Clinton) would like to be better remembered. I think @poster is exagerating a bit. Yar'Adua was the best the Northern PDP could put forward - it had very little to do with OBJ.
Politics / Re: Obasanjo F@#ked Up This Country by JamesG: 4:26pm On Aug 13, 2009
When we speak about the issues that plague Nigeria we speak in relative terms - in other words, what's possible in Nigeria given the prevailing corrupt tendencies at all levels. Implementation of GSM or access to the internet might not be an issue for some other country, but for Nigeria it is a major milestone. For years the Nothern Oligarchy refused to move forward with deregulation and privatization - and why? They were the head of all the fed government sectors - so that was the channel to move crude revenue to the North. IBB might have mention free market, privatization etc, but he had no intension of implementing them. He did the same with free election. It took OBJ to make these huge strides, by Nigerian standards, given the huge oppositions from the North. Please let's not mention Atiku in this discussion, he's a common criminal - Please don't forget the Jefferson (US REP) saga.
Politics / Re: Prosecute Obasanjo Then We Will Have A Corrupt Free Nigeria by JamesG: 4:00pm On Aug 13, 2009
We Nigerians are so myopic and our memory really does not serve us well - can we even have a forum like this in IBB or Abacha's reign without fear of reprisal?

If anybody is to be prosecuted, it would be IBB - he's the father of all tyrany and has committed heinous crimes against Nigerian. Abacha has met his own fate. IBB feels he's larger than Nigeria and its constitution - and he has acted the same.
Politics / Re: Obasanjo F@#ked Up This Country by JamesG: 3:41pm On Aug 13, 2009
IBB was a better president by a long mile.

OBJ was and is still a thug.
The name 'maradona' and 'chop I chop' was ascribed to IBB due to the way he dealt with issues.

Although, both corrupt, IBB hardly ever came across as forceful and unrepentant. He knew the power of a few ghana must go's
IBB greatest achievements:
- world-wide 419
- abject poverty
- terror on the populace
- The idealogy of "Do or Die" politics

He'll go down in history as the father of tyrany!
Politics / Re: Obasanjo F@#ked Up This Country by JamesG: 3:23pm On Aug 13, 2009
Without OBJ -

- No GSM
- No Internet Cafe
- No Nairaland
- No Roads in the west/east/south
The list goes on,

Compared to this clown, OBJ still remains the modern father of Nigeria. He was able to thread his way thru the Oligarchy, and move the country ever closer to the 21st century. Now I see why he wanted a 3rd term - we should really thank OBJ for his immense contribution to this country.

What has the Northerners given us, as they have ruled this country for the most part - military tyrants! I hope Yar'Adua learns some political skills from OBJ before he's overthrown by some colonel from the north. And then we'll be back to square one, then the populace will wake up and seek OBJ to save us.
Politics / Efcc Arrests Ex-customs Boss by JamesG: 5:21pm On Aug 12, 2009
Economic and Financial Crime Commission, (EFCC) has arrested the immediate past Comptroller-General of Customs, Ahmed Bello and five others alleged to have been indicted in the N2.5 billion import duty scam involving the Vaswani Group owned by the Vaswani brothers.

http://www.thisdayonline.com/nview.php?id=151379

I say they will be let go in the next few days, and you wouldn't hear about it again. Just like any of the high profile arrests they've made in recent times. Ribadu was EFCC.
So,

EFCC-Ribadu=0 + Incarceration of petty larceny.

So the real criminals that continue to adversely affect our economy become the sole glimmer of our neighborhoods.
Politics / Re: What In Your View Is The Immediate Problem The Federal and State Governments Should Tackle First? by JamesG: 3:25pm On Aug 10, 2009
Have you given a thought to the fact that corruption has not allowed all of the above to be possible? Think about that.
The only way corruption can be solved is by empowering the populace, and the only way the populace can be empowered is by ensuring that they're employed. And this' assuming that the question posted truely has a solution, all things being equal. In essence if Yar'Adua was to ask this question, this is the answer I would provide him - because he already knows there's corruption in all sectors of Nigerian economy. When the average Nigerian can support his family, he/she will more than likely be more progressive and seek a better Nigeria. But if he's forced to be a hussler - he'll be just that, anything goes. As human beings we all have some moral compass that allows us to do that which is right.

So a prosprous Nigeria is a Nigeria that re-invest in the development of the country, not just in Abuja and Lagos. Lagos today is the only true business heart of the Nation, but Lagos can not care for the rest of the country - everyone can not live and work in Lagos. That which works in Lagos needs to be spread accross the nation.

Politics / Re: What In Your View Is The Immediate Problem The Federal and State Governments Should Tackle First? by JamesG: 8:34am On Aug 05, 2009
All Out Infrastructure Build Out – Will Create Jobs! Jobs!! Jobs!!!

• Electricity – will ensure survivability of businesses, and provide added revenue for the government
• Roads – immediate boost for commerce
• Railways – North-South; East-West; a more efficient means of transporting goods to/from market centers.
• Robust Internet Infrastructure – Gold mine for foreign outsource ventures. Today India is at the forefront of outsourced services from the US and other developed countries. The internet is the stable for the digital age, Education, Invention, eCommerce, eBanking – young bright minds would not have to leave the Nigerian shores, thereby reducing the brain drain.
• Security – to ensure foreign investment. If there are jobs for young people this will be a very small part.
• Investment in Education – prepare Nigerian young people to be significant in the global economy.
• Move towards total resource control – by reinvesting in other non-oil potential revenue streams.
Politics / Re: Naira Slumps As Nigerian Central Bank Aims To Protect Reserves by JamesG: 7:53am On Aug 05, 2009
It is inevitable that this will happen –

In a nutshell:

Nigerian Foreign Reserve = Crude proceeds (90%) + other Export&Taxes (10%) – Import
• Crude Proceeds ($) = Gross Sale (100%) - Niger Delta disruption (25%) – Misappropriation (Fed & State possibly (~20%))
• :. Crude Proceeds is then ~ 45% less

Restricting FOREX equates to reducing foreign Importation – when the dollar is high import oriented businesses will defer purchases to more favorable periods.

This would be a sound economic strategy if only the government is less corrupt, and other potential revenue streams are developed in order to boost export. Unfortunately this’ not the case – infrastructure and institutions put in place to ensure sound economic growth are dilapidated and marred with mismanagement and corruption.

Total resource control will not happen in Nigeria unless other revenue streams are available to elevate other non-oil producing states. The North which occupies possibly 60% of the land area of Nigeria has almost zero export revenue streams.

Amnesty for MEND, and their request for housing for members ONLY, completely falls short of a plausible resolution. What about the other millions living in the Niger Delta – they will ultimately be the MEND of tomorrow. There’s really no quick fix for the problem in Nigeria – the political oligarchy are just making their normal outrageously lucrative rounds – yesterday it was OBJ; today Yar’Adua; and tomorrow another one. This will go on indefinitely – why? You ask, “The populace lack the will to fight back”.

Politics / Re: Ameachi The Bst Governor In East. by JamesG: 1:59pm On Aug 03, 2009
Amaechi is the best Governor in Nigeria not jst in the south. he is the best in the whole Naija. if u say your Governor pass am, tell me wetin ur state Governor don do for your state wey better
.

You must be very myopic,  this governor is the worst non-elected governor in Nigeria. He practically bought the position with what he looted while he was the speaker of the house. He's the most controversial and corrupt - The EFCC are still on his tail,  but he has managed to bribe all the justices in Nigeria.

Bribery/Corruption = Amaechi

He's following in the footsteps of Odili.

Like I continue to say the Northerns are the root of all Nigeria's problem - the rest of the country must align with the Yorubas and Igbos to wipe them out!! The think the rest of the country are idiots.
Politics / Re: Yorubas Strategically Keep Distance From North/East Issue Because Of This. . . by JamesG: 11:11pm On Jul 27, 2009
Please let's stop knocking the Yorubas, they've done a lot for the technological advancement of this country - albeit most of that development have been started in the west, but it had in a very short time found its way to other parts of the country. Won't you furnish your house before furnishing varender?

Case in point - Most will complain about OBJ, but can you really, I mean really compare OBJ with Yar' Adua?

The Houses/Fulanis will not do much for the country, but I am confident the Igbos can do more, given their numbers, I am not talking about importation.

Our collective problem are the Housa/Fulanis, they are the root of all our problem. The Yorubas have figured them out, that's why they can still be at the forefront of advancement in the nation even though the Housa/Fulanis control the Nation's resources.
Politics / Re: 150 Now Killed In Co-ordinated Attacks In Northern Nigeria by JamesG: 10:48pm On Jul 27, 2009
This no be police matter. We need JTF in the north, with fighter planes and grenade launchers to do some peace keeping.

JTF comprises of ~80% islamic militants,  this' why they're ruthless to the Niger Delta people. The main agenda of these militants is to return the country back to military rule, hence sharia law nation-wide, and the Niger Delta people will then be subdued, and their crude proceeds subverted with impunity. "Waffi, Sapele, PH, Shine your eye o!"
Politics / Why stop at moving Petroleum Un from Warri to Kaduna... by JamesG: 9:48pm On Jul 27, 2009
http://www.thetimesofnigeria.com/Article.aspx?id=2032

Excerpt:
, FG’s recent idea to relocate the Petroleum University from its current location in Effurun warri Delt a State to Kaduna State.

I say why stop at moving the University to Kaduna - next step, dig an elaborate tunnel from Kaduna to ND oil wells, this way the Niger Delta "trouble makers" would have no say in their crude proceeds. King Yar' Adua's thinking, "These reverine folks are a bunch of bushmen (or should I say, "Mangrovemen"wink any ways" They had no use for the refined petroleum products in Warri/PH, so it had to be piped to the north. So why not "strategically" move the potential expertise re crude exploration to the North - the ND people have no use for education or need for development in the ND regions.

All Niger Delta People Let's sing praises and hail our supreme King Yar' Adua and his superior citizens in the North: "Hail to the King and may Allah bless the people of the North!!!" We are mesmorized by their presence!!

Politics / Re: Reps Ask Yar’adua To Quit by JamesG: 9:28pm On Jul 25, 2009
Please prove me wrong… I would love a more prosperous Nigeria, like most patriots. But the historical facts points in a different direction. We have all it takes to make for a great country, but unfortunately that’s all in the hands of ~2% of the populace – the political elite.
Politics / Reps Ask Yar’adua To Quit by JamesG: 9:04pm On Jul 25, 2009
http://www.234next.com/csp/cms/sites/Next/News/National/5438379-147/Reps_ask_Yar’Adua_to_quit_.csp

I think this a waste of time - you can't solve a problem when your are part of the problem.

The reality is that Nigeria is a failed state – Next Evolution:

Phase 1. Mass riots, because people have reached their threshold for tolerance and the burden of abject poverty.
Phase 2. Mass and brutal killings – Tribal wars to be topped by wars between Yorubas & Housas/Fulanis; Igbos &
Housas/Fulanis; and Yorubas & Igbos
Phase 3. emigrations by those lucky enough to do so; and unprecedented Nigerian refugees in neighboring countries,
these refugees would not be welcomed, hence would be subjected to inhumane treatment (Genocide outcomes
in Dafur and Rwanda, would be dwarfed in comparison)
Phase 4. All out civil war – unprecedented misery!
Phase 5. population of Nigerians living in Nigeria cut down to ~80 million
Phase 6. Year 2020 – a new Nigeria is born! With great promise.

As gloomy as this may sound, this’ what history hold for us – there’s really no other path or route. The political elites
have set the stage – make it in politics or forget it! The masses are at their mercy… and they’re ruthless
(they don’t take prisoners!)
