You guys can also diversify. FBNQuest balanced fund gave me 38% in 2023 (Dividends and increase in NAV). Look also into equity fund, the prospect is good this year. Even if the increase in the fund value is low, dividends will compensate for that. I am not a financial adviser, it’s my suggestion 5 Likes 1 Share |

Deustchemann: DEUSTCHEMANN GOES TO WALTER CARRINGTON (PART III) So, The big day finally arrived. The two previous visits to the consulate were for Certification purposes. I landed in Lagos on Monday evening, stayed with my elder brother. Fast forward to this morning, I woke up by 2:45, took my bathe and dressed up. By 5:00am, we set out from ogba. I got to the consulate by 6:05, met 8 people in front of me. I joined the queue and waited for the instructions as usual. At 6:21 Paulinus arrived, and arranged seats as usual. Then a security officer called those for short stay, and stamped their appointment mail. Then he stamped for students and other long stays too. By 7, Short stay applicants were ushered to Paulinus and he checked them in. By 7:15, student visa applicants were called in and we filed up. Appointment mail and international passport checked. I happened to be number 5 on the student queue. Paulinus admonished us as usual: "What I need is your attention." He called the first 3 folks and began to give them instructions. The first guy appeared slow, and he got bounced to the last spot on the queue. The second lady too, seems she had issues with motivation letter, Paulinus asked her to move to the back, probably to make photocopies. So just 1 guy in that set was passed in. When it got to my turn, myself and the guy that followed me, we were following Paulinus bumper to bumper. Local man was very pleased with us. In his words "I'm enjoying these people"..Lol.. he had to pend the first guy in our set because he wasn't as fast as we were.
Documents arranged, and well clipped by Paulinus, I was ushered in for security check by 8:15. Security checks conducted, I moved into the visa section, and probably became the first to be interviewed for Student visa because I still found the guy in the first set seated at the security post.
I entered cubicle 4 by 8:30. VO was a young man on lowcut.
VO: *with a smile* Hello! Me: Hi. Good morning VO: Bachelors, Masters or PhD? Me: Masters VO: What category did you book? Me: Category A VO: Which of the qualifications do you have? Me: I have a Bachelor degree, with a second class upper grade. VO: Okay. What course was that? Me: Biochemistry. VO: What course are you now going for? Me: Environmental Toxicology VO: Is there a relationship between the two? Me: Yes. *Hands over my documents to him VO: What school are you going to? Me: University of Duisburg-essen *Checks my SL* VO: Who is Mr. Justwise? , And how's he related to you? Me: He's my sponsor. He's my Dad's friend. VO: Does your dad live in Germany? Me: No, he doesn't. VO: *shows me something on my SL*, do you know what this means? Me: Yes, Study, 3 months VO: You'll get a mail in a few days. Your sponsor stated that he can only cover you for 3 months after entry. What will happen to the remaining 1yr 9 months? He might have to get another one that will state 2 years. Me: Okay. VO: Do you speak German? Me: No. VO: What's the medium of instruction for your course? Me: English. VO: Give me 3 Passport photographs and your visa fee *Hands then over* *Takes biometrics: 4 fingers of the right hand, 4 fingers of the left hand, then thumb of both hands.* *Prints data information statement, gives me my copy* *Prints fee receipt, gives me my copy* *Prints 2 copies of my details and asks me to cross-check and sign if correct*
Interview proper VO: Pick up the microphone please. Which school are you going to study? Me: University of Duisburg-essen VO: What course? Me: Environmental Toxicology VO: What's the language of instruction? Me: English. VO: Which campus are you headed? Me: Essen campus VO: Why do you want to study this course? Me: 1. It's in line with my career goal of becoming a Toxicologist 2. I'm passionate about Environmental sustainability VO: I want more details. You have a motivation letter, right? *In my mind, I even wanted to be brief so we won't waste time, seems this one wants to hear story. Naso I change mode sharply* Me: My bachelors thesis was on neurotoxicology, where I studied the toxic effects of some harmful substances on the brain. The results I got increased my interest to how the harmful substances in the environment affects the organisms that live in it: plants and animals, You and I *smiles*. *VO smiles back*. So I want to gather up more knowledge so I can use them to work in establishments whose activities have effects on the environment. VO: Okay. That's nice. So, why do you want to study in Germany? Me: 1. Free tuition extended to international students 2. Excellent practical and theoretical training 3. Opportunity to learn a foreign language 4. Opportunity to experience cultural diversification 5. Worldwide acceptance and recognition of the German Certificate VO: That's good. Why don't you want to study in English speaking countries? Me: 1. Very high tuition fee 2. High cost of living 3. Holistic admission process VO: Okay. Why not study this in Nigeria? Me: 1. Irregular academic calendar, which will not guarantee completion of the program on time 2. Limited exposure to sufficient practical training VO: okay. What was your bachelor thesis title? Me: Protective effect of Hibiscus sabdariffa (had to spell sabdariffa for him) extract on altered antioxidant and neurotransmitter systems induced by acute Tramadol administration VO: Hmm..nice. what's this tramadol? I've heard about it but I've not seen it before Me: It's an analgesic opioid which is therapeutically used to treat fever, but is often abused due to its stimulating effect. VO: Tell me facts about Germany. What comes to your mind when you hear Germany? Me: Geographically, Germany is located in central western Europe, with a population of about 83 Million people. Germany has 16 states and is bordered by 9 countries. Germany holds the largest economy in the Europe and 4th largest by GDP in the world. Germany is the 3rd largest exporter of goods: majorly automobiles, heavy machinery, chemicals and food. The president of Germany is Dr. Frank Walter Steinmeier of the Social Democratic party *Interrupts me while laughing VO: You know him? Me: No *smiles* VO: Does he know you? The way you pronounced his name sounds like he's your guy *General laughter* Me: The chancellor's name is Dr. Angela Merkel of the Christian Democratic Union. Concerning Environmental matters, Germany is a world leader in Environmental, climate and energy policies. Germany is presently decommissioning all nuclear power plants and replacing with renewable energy by 2022. Germany charges an ecotax of 65 cents per liter of fossil fuel used. *VO nods and interrupts* VO: Okay, Okay. That's good. The city you're heading, what do you know about it? Me: Duisburg and Essen are part of the Rhine-Ruhr developed areas, and used to be sites of coal mining and steel production years back. VO: Okay. What state is your school located? Me: North-rhine Westphalia VO: Where is it located in Germany? Me: South Western part of Germany VO: No. If I'm right it should be Northwest, since you have north-rhine and Westphalia. Me: *Remains silent* VO: Okay. So what are your plans after completing the program? Me: I will return to Nigeria to take up a job as an environmental Toxicologist in the oil and gas industry. VO: Have you applied for a visa in this embassy before? Me: No, I haven't. VO: How about other Schengen countries? Me: No, I haven't. VO: Okay. Any questions for me? Me: None, thank you. VO: Alright. You should get a mail from the consulate in a few days about the issue on your Proof of sponsorship. That was my only observation. Every other thing is perfect. Me: okay. Thank you for your time VO: Have a nice day.
Thank you all for the encouragement, support and prayers. May our AMs come with ease.

You can resume at a different school. I did same 6 years ago. Its not a problem. Register in your city hall as soon as possible, so that your file will be transferred to yoour new city as soon as possible. This takes average of 5 weeks. Lalaski001:
Thank you so much for this. This was really helpful, I will be booking my visa appointment right away then.
Please, hope it is possible and without any hassles to resume at a different school, in a different state from the one you got your visa with I am still expecting admission from other schools even though I have one already.

You will be asked to bring a 3 month travel insurance when your visa is approved. The insurance should date start at your intended travel date. I will choose 3-4 weeks to resumption date so I wont have to spend much money before getting my semester ticket. So your visa starts on the date on your travel insurance. Lalaski001: My people please i need a clarification here...
I have my admission letter already, I have opened my fintiba account and I will be funding it soon. Now, if I book an interview date for May, and it takes about 4 weeks for my visa to be ready after my interview (that should be around June ending), will i be issued a visa that will start counting from the month it was issued ? My enrolment begins on 3rd of September, so if my visa happens to start counting from the date (June) it was issued, it means the 3 months visa will be close to expiration by the time I will be arriving Germany.
So please is it advisable I book the dates in May now, or wait till maybe June, or will the visa not start counting from the day it was issued? |

Nursing is not a 'Study' in Germany. Its an apprenticeship; i.e Ausbildung. Study German up to B2 and send application to hospitals with training offers. You earn anout 800 Eur per month as a trainee pstfrancis: Pls is it that foreign students are not allowed to study nursing both at PG and UG level in Germany? 2 Likes 1 Share |

Have your spouse in Germany been contacted. If not, ask him/her to go to the foreigners office for enquiry. After submitting all necessary document to the foreigners office, then you should only count days not weeks to receive your visa. I rarely see family reunion post here but I believe someone can help me out.
I had my interview at the german embassy on 3-01-2018 and my investigation was Finalised on 18-01-2018. Is it possible I might receive my visa this month? Is there any other fam reunion applicant whose visa was processed within a month? Is this normal? I have been on fasting since 1st of Jan. Could it be the reason why they started my process quickly? Thanks and God bless us all!
Also, your husband will receive a letter from the foreigners office in few days to come with his rent contract (Mietvertag), Job contract and 3 month pay slip. You should get your visa in 3 weeks. |

I get your point Bro. I never said u are absolutely wrong. Moreover, to anyone under this condituon; If u attend any seminar, training or conferences, please keep the certificate or besceiningung. If u do any online training, course or webinar also keep the certificate. Even your certifications will help you in this situation. umschulung (change of training) is something common in the German system. So, your university degree + other training certificate would make a case for you in this situation. honourableseyi:
Yes, including nearly all the German organisations and bureaucracies. My submission is from a statistical fact which happened to some that I know. Having said that, we have some courses in Germany with skills/workers shortage, hence sometimes the waiver. Moreover, I never ruled out the fact that someone can get it with another course, but statistically speaking, it is low compared to related one and it is not the general norm and policy as far as German law is concerned. I think it will be better to know from the onset so as to know the best way to work around it rather than having the mind that it is how it works generally, but alas, it turned out to become something else afterwards. For example, it is a general norm that students are given 3/6 months visa from Nigeria, subjected to an extension or changing to a residence permit in Germany. But I have seen someone that got straight 1 year sudent visa from Nigeria. This is my position. It has been a while bro. Shalom |
Travel / Re: General German Student Visa Enquiries Part 4 by jejet1: 9:46pm On Dec 04, 2017 |
@Honourableseyi, You made a good outline. But @Temitopewalker is more correct. Many power lies on your handler at the foreiners office. I'll encourage you learn German and skills that can get u a job, it will save u a lot of job. You can ask ur employer to use a job title that suits you on your contract. I got my permanent residence with a job that has nothing to do with my degree. Please get a job contract that requires a university degree and you can get ur blue catd or job visa on almost all cases. honourableseyi:
Make sure you confirm a critical issue like this very well so as not to give people unnecessary hope. The general law is, your course must directly be related to the job and earning a certain amount of money per month (The figure can actually depend on who is implementing it and also your course). I have seen many cases which I couldn't be saying here. There is an article and section that takes care of this under German law. We have people that completed Msc and still go for another Msc just to maintain status. Even if it is going to happen, it will be in few and special cases and not the norm like renewing residence permit for studies. If you really think you can get permanent resident from any work that is not related to your course of studies after 18months post studies visa or it is the general norm in Germany , then good luck. Shalom
Graduates’ right to remain "After successful completion of the studies at a German higher education institution, all foreign students are permitted to remain in the Federal territory for up to 18 months as a matter of principle. Triplekbaby: my husband wants me to join him as soon as possible because we are newly married. Congratulation on your new marriage. Happy marriage life. Triplekbaby: We thought about me visiting in December and then applying for reunion in June, due to my NYSC or apply for reunion in December with the hope of not completing NYSC.or go through study so as not to be dependent on my husband's duration of stay. Your chance of getting a visiting visa depends on the financial status of your spouse in Germany; is he on scholarship or personal funding. If its on scholarship; you can apply for visiting and later apply for reunion as you wish. If he is studying on personal funding, you will have to prove to the VO that he is financially okay to invite you. I will advice you to also apply for student visa if he is not on scholarship. N.B: I also studied here in Germany and presently with a permanent residence; and I am presently processing my wife's visa, so I'm giving my view from my own perspective. 8 Likes 1 Share |
