Vision: An economically vibrant Abia State with strong institutions; open, transparent and inclusive governance, to guarantee high quality of life for the citizens, leading to sustainable development. Mission: To transform Abia State into a functional private sector-led economy; creating opportunities for her citizens, improving the quality of their lives and shaping the State into a regional entrepreneurship hub through good governance, appropriate developmental and environmentally sustainable policies. Pledge/Commitment: My commitment is to serve God and humanity. Therefore, I am driven by a strong determination to achieve results. In this regard, I am propelled by the fundamental needs of our people. I believe that to successfully achieve this, there is need to consult and involve a wide spectrum of our society. I encourage people to express themselves, share their opinions and ideas on issues of interest to our society. Aba Re-Development Plan: The axiom, "get Aba right, and Abia is right", shall continue to be the pivotal development philosophy and the nexus upon which we anchor our development policy for Abia. Aba is home to all Abians and to Ndigbo. Therefore, re-developing Aba into a modern commercial hub; with urban renewal and city upgrading, functional infrastructure, stable power supply, reliable and decent public transportation system, urban traffic management system, structured and planned industrial layouts, clusters and parks, will release her revenue potential that can be leveraged upon to develop the rest of Abia State, and empower Ndigbo. Aba with its strong entrepreneurial setting, attracting business operators from across the nation and most ECOWAS countries, has the potential to become a commercial and entrepreneurship hub of West Africa. We shall enhance international marketing opportunities for made in Aba goods and services by ensuring quality control and showcase the made in Aba brand in the economic capitals of the world. Eight months after assumption of office as Governor of Abia State, this is the pictorial evidence of what Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has done. However, he acknowledges that he and his team have not done everything, but stressed that they've done something, and promises to do more.

The Governor has played a major role in creating a sustainable foundation for the State to grow upon. All we need to do is to pray for him for more wisdom to do more. Not to come here to criticize a serving Governor |

THE ANNIVERSAY CELEBRATION OF THE 2013 DAY OF THE AFRICAN CHILD, HELD AT UMUAHIA, ON MONDAY, 24TH JUNE, 2013. BY HER EXCELLENCY, LADY MERCY ODOCHI ORJI, WIFE OF THE EXECUTIVE GOVERNOR OF ABIA STATE. The 16th day of every June is a remarkable day in the life of every African child. It is a historical day for all Africans and lovers of African Children. That is why it was set aside by the African leaders and members of the African Union (A.U), as a special day for remembrance of African Children who were disfigured and butchered to death by minority apartheid Government in Soweto, South Africa – 1976. The theme for this year celebration is: Preventing Harmful Socio-cultural Practices against Children: Our Collective Responsibility. In Her speech explains that, this theme is very appropriate in view of the responsibilities of parents and caregivers in the training of our children to be patriots and worthy ambassador. Furthermore, it is a fact that the government of His Excellency, Sir Dr. T.A. Orji (OCHENDO) sees children as the future of all human society, that need to be nurtured and protected. This will enable them develop into responsible and productive adults, who will tomorrow assume leadership for the running of our society. Her Excellency, always lean on the words of Ephesians 6: 1—3 which says “children obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right” and obey in all things for it is pleasing unto the Lord. Let the words of the 5th commandment which says “obey thy father and mother, so that thy life will be long here on this earth which I have given thee”, Deuteronomy 5:16 be your watchword. Finally, the Ochendo administration has removed all bottlenecks that will hinder the smooth operations of the 5th Abia State Children’s Parliament. It has complied with the relevant provision of the child right act of 2003 for the interest of Abia Children.
