Congratulations on your ppr. We are heading to the same school, you can send me an email.
Echogrey:
A very good morning to you all. It’s PPR!!

Wow! IRCC really toyed with my emotions o. In fact, I had decided my timeline would be very straightforward because of how they dragged the whole thing. It was just frustrating. But, to do that will be unfair.

Although I had submitted my application before I joined Nairaland, I must say that it’s been such a pleasure being on this platform. People are ever ready to help. Let’s all endeavor to continue with that spirit wherever we find ourselves.
I really enjoyed reading good news (which went a long way in keeping my hopes alive) and I also said a little prayer in my heart for those who were refused. All will be well.

SO…snippets of information about my application:

I am going for my Masters of Law (LLM) at Western University (London, Ontario) to resume September 1.
Please feel free to reach out if we would be neighbors! Lol

I was offered about 90% scholarship and I indicated my mum as sponsor to cover the remaining tuition fee and living expenses.

First time applicant.

To Note:

My permanent residency application which I submitted since December 2020 is still being processed. Dual intent comes in here!

General documents:

- Degree certificates/ transcripts.
- Certificate of incorporation (ONLY) of father’s company and mother’s company.
- Certificate of incorporation (ONLY) of mum’s foundation.
- Mum’s Share certificates
- CV
- Int. Passport bio data pages for parents and siblings
- Sworn affidavit of one and same person (my names are all over the place lol)
- Police character certificate
- IELTS result (L8,W,8,R8,S8.5)
- Mum’s C of O for just one property (no valuation report, etc., ONLY CofO)
- Proof of mum’s past and current employment
- Letter of support from mum (sponsor)
- Mum’s 1 year mybankstatement
- Scholarship package from my faculty

Home ties:

1. Work ID card, Letter of introduction from current employer indicating my salary, benefits, etc., (and also stating that I will be granted a study leave once my study permit has been approved).
3. I also downloaded my appraisal notes where my supervisor made very nice comments about my work in the Firm and my good character ( The appraisal notes also stated that I was recommended for promotion).
4. I am also a trustee in my mum’s foundation (the certificate of incorporation shows my name as one of the trustees)
5. Fact that my parents and 2 younger siblings are in Nigeria. I am the first child of my parents.

Proof of Personal Assets:

- 3 months payslips and statement of salary account (the balance at the time was not too significant- I only highlighted salary inflow)
- Statement of Retirement savings account and reference letter from Stanbic pension managers

Dual Intent:

I felt like I really needed to let them know that I would leave Canada (after my authorized stay) in the event that my PR application is refused so I added a bit more documents like:

- Character reference letter (from a former employer) who is also a notary public.
- Affidavit of good conduct stating that I will abide by the relevant laws and would not stay in Canada beyond the authorized period.
- I also stressed in my LOE, my frequent travels to the US and UK over the years so they know I will respectfully comply with their immigration laws and not overstay illegally.

Timeline:

- Application Submission: 30 March 2021 with NSE documents and upfront Medicals (which I used for my PR application)

- Review of Eligibility Start Date : 14 April 2021

(Caught more than 5 ghost updates )

- Medical Request : 10 June 2021

(Informed them via webform that I had previously submitted my medicals and it is still valid)

- Medical Passed : 14 June 2021

- BVL : 8 July 2021

- PPR: 9 July 2021

God bless us all and grant us our heart desires! Happy to answer any questions!

Cheers, guys!

A lawyer drafted it for me. I guess it's best you use a lawyer, they know the appropriate words to use

Hello everyone,
I just got PPR for my Masters program. I'm headed to Western University. Please is anyone here based in London Ontario? I would like to know what life is like?
Is there any WhatsApp or telegram group?
Can anyone help me secure accommodation that is very close to Western, such that I won't need transport?
Ps: I'm a lady

First time applicant
Timeline:
• Submitted application on the 23rd of April.
• Received Biometrics Request on the 24th of April.
• Received NSE Request on the 26th of April.
• I uploaded NSE requirements immediately, with 1 year MBS and IELTS general result of Band 8.0
• Eligibility Review started on 28th April.
• I did Biometrics on the 4th of May and Upfront Medicals on the 5th of May.
• Biometrics changed to completed on the evening of 4th May.
• I uploaded the medicals slip via webform and mailed Lagos and Nairobi office too. I got a response from IRCC saying my file was in Nairobi and they have sent it to them.
• I got almost 10 ghost updates at different times.
• Medicals finally changed to 'passed' on 19th May.
• The ghost updates stopped completely. I became scared because I felt they had abandoned my application
• Surprisingly I got a ghost update on 11th of June.
• BVL and PPR on 17th June
Documents submitted:
• Degree Certificate and transcript, I'm an Optometrist (Doctor of Optometry degree) and I'm going for an Msc in Health and Rehabilitation Sciences.
• I got a partial scholarship from the school which covers domestic tuition. I showed this, then I had to show the balance of the tuition for International Students plus my living expenses.
• Gift deed: I did a gift deed because my hubby transferred the lump sum of tuition balance plus living expenses to my account. I didn't show his account statement because we had some unexplainable lump sums in it.
• Affidavit of gift deed
• 4 page Study Plan
• Work ID
• Letter of Introduction from my place of work
• Hubby's Work ID
• 1year MBS
• Marriage Certificate
• Kid's birth Certificates
I didn't put pictures. I wanted to, but my hubby didn't agree. He said his spirit doesn't accept me putting our pictures. I obeyed him and submitted these few documents like that. I have no travel history as I never comot before grin

Truly, what God cannot do, does not, can never, and will never exist!

I declared that I will testify on this thread!

I just received my BVL and PPR

See eh, truly what God cannot do does not exist! It's not just a slogan! It's real! I'm a first time applicant (23rd April) and if I share my timeline it will be unbelievable!

I'll share it later, let me catch my breath first!

Hello Frankrobbin
My hubby sent the funds to me because there are unexplainable lump sums in his account. So we want to present my account with his deposit as support for my studies. Is it okay?
Travel / Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 18 by Jideks: 6:08pm On Apr 15, 2021
He sent it to my account because there are unexplainable lump sums in his account.
We decided to use only my own statement, but just put his employment letter and pay stubs.
Is it okay?
Frankrobbn1:

Any reason for him sending the full amount to your account? Given that he is your legitimate spouse, there is no need sending money to you when he is financially buoyant to finance your studies in Canada. It is highly recommended that you should provide his bank statement to demonstrate the provenance of the funds.

It will end in praise

Hello and goodevening all.

My hubby transferred my POF to my account. Please what should the letter of support contain?
Does he still need to show his statement of account even after he has sent the full amount of POF to me?
Travel / Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 18 by Jideks: 2:06pm On Apr 10, 2021
Hello Gurus and everyone,

Please my hubby wants to transfer my POF to my account. I'm listing him as my sponsor but there have been lump deposits in his account in the past 1 month. I want him to transfer the money to me so that I can upload my MBS alone.
Since he is transferring the money to me, do I still need to show his own statement of account as there is no proof of the lump sums in his account?
Do I just upload my own MBS alone without his but State in my SOP that he's sponsoring me and transferred the POF to me as support funds?
Travel / Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 18 by Jideks: 12:49pm On Apr 10, 2021
In his bank statement, there have been lump sum deposits in the past one week. Will this be a red flag? He is a Civil Servant but also a practicing Engineer. How do we explain the lump sums in his account? That's why I want him to transfer the money to my account as a support from him.

It's important to include his bank statement to demonstrate the provenance of this funds.

A deed of gift is a good proof of fund, however, I will suggest you state that your hubby is your sponsor rather than a deed of gift. In a situation like this, having your spouse to sponsor your education in Canada proves to the immigration authorities that you share a very strong bond with him and your family is well established in Nigeria.

It will end in praise
Please Gurus in the house and everyone, I got a partial scholarship for an MSc and my hubby wants to transfer the balance of my tuition and living expenses to my account.
Do I need to show his own bank statement alongside my own MBS?
Do I need to do a gift deed to justify the lump sum after he transfers the money to my account?

I'm applying alone without my family.

Please seniors in the house, can I submit a fixed deposit certificate from the bank as proof of POF?
My program is a research based masters and I have funding which covers my tuition. I just need to show proof for living expenses.

Thank you so much! I really appreciate! smiley

I understand how you feel. Be encouraged. This is very normal and will ease away with time and persistence. Struggles with listening comes from largely 2 areas:

1. Insufficient vocabulary
2. Unfamiliarity with pace/pronunciation.

For Frenchpod, I recommend listening first, then read the dialog, then listen while reading, then listen w/o the dialogue.
Please I need to ask a question.

When did you start understanding French (listening)?

I've been self learning for the past 3weeks, I actually did french in secondary school and wrote in Waec, so I'm on A2 level.

The issue is that I've been listening to Frenchpod 101listening exercises on youtube and I'm yet to grasp the listening part even the ones for absolute beginners

Its discouraging! Please someone should encourage me and tell me how much longer it will take to grasp listening.

Elders please come and help me oh, @Mamaroon, @etrange @bellerin @nj please even those I didn't mention
