Health / Re: How Do You Cure Depression? by jonjon(f): 4:47pm On May 25, 2008 |
Seun seems to be a bit on edge these days, i always knew him to use moderate language. Anyhow, if the poster is talking ordinary feelings of depression i.e. unhappiness, he should avoid the reasons for his issues if he can and look for joyful things to distract his attention. But if he is talking clinical depression, it's a whole different ball game, that is a serious illness that can kill. First of all he needs to see a doctor, any doctor and tell all his issues and symptoms, usually lack of appetite, zero self esteem, crying all the time, feeling unloved, lack of interest in things around him and in extreme cases, suicidal thoughts. He'll probably find himself being involved in some irrational acts that normally he would never do, just to get high. If you are given medicine please use them regularly. And if heartbreak is the reason for your wahala try to get rid of whatever reminds you of the perpetrator. Wish u well. |
Culture / Re: Igbo And Yoruba Marriages? by jonjon(f): 9:19pm On May 10, 2008 |
The low marriage rates amongst the tribes are due to their distinctly different cultural practices not looks or whatever. I have been privileged to live in the north, south and east of Nigeria as an adult and i was born and schooled in Lagos. Cultures are vastly different across the country. Hausas and fulanis have dwelt and traded with yorubas for centuries and they have been inter-marrying for the same length of time, note also that they have religion in common. It is a common sight to see muslims and christians from the same nuclear family for both tribes. You have less yoruba babes marrying ibo guys because of what we have heard and seen as terrible widowhood practices among ibos, no yoruba father will open his two eyes and see his daughter go through that. My yoruba uncle died a very sad man just a few weeks to his daughters wedding to an igbo guy. He never accepted the guy but she was insistent. i think the yoruba culture is easier on ladies that's why you see a number of igbo ladies willing to wed yoruba guys. But really, cultural differences can not be wished away. You must weigh your options before marrying anybody at all, even the so called white people that have no heavy duty cultural issues. |
Romance / Re: Which Comes First: Love, Romance Or Marriage? by jonjon(f): 9:58pm On May 06, 2008 |
I think it's first romance, then love, then marriage. Romance is as a result of Chemistry between the two of you i.e. LUST After which, if the other person is of a good character it develops into love. And of course with the right combination of love and lust, you know marriage is just around the corner. :oAbi bee ko? |
Romance / Re: Are Romance Novels Harmless Reading? by jonjon(f): 9:47pm On May 06, 2008 |
They lack substance, make you unrealistic and you have problems forming genuine relationships. When I discovered how stupid they were, I tore up my collection. I'd advise anyone to do the same. Read non fiction or books on money making instead. |

TV/Movies / Re: Is The Ghanaian Movie Industry Making Any Improvement? by jonjon(f): 2:36pm On Mar 25, 2008 |
But i think if ghanians stop trying to copy nigerian movies they'll actually make some headway. |
TV/Movies / Re: Is The Ghanaian Movie Industry Making Any Improvement? by jonjon(f): 2:35pm On Mar 25, 2008 |
Be careful of overgeneralising. I love the yoruba movies cos they make me laugh till my sides nearly burst. The igbo or so called "english" ones are terrible. Under love, above love, red love, do u love me and such crap. they're are even more horrible now that they have love scenes, those ponmo lips in action!!!!!!!! yuck! The aki, pawpaw, mr ibu, osuofia and the rest make you ashamed to be a nigerian. But as horrible as they are, the ghanian ones don't even come close. As for music, they were ahead of us until about five years back, but i doubt if they can ever catch up again. Nuff said! |
Crime / Re: Marital Rape by jonjon(f): 12:51pm On Mar 25, 2008 |
Rape is violence. At the end of the act the woman is left with injuries on various parts of her body, also, her clothes will be torn and she will be crying, she will feel humiliated, she will feel guilty, blaming herself for falling in love with such a person and she will not be able to look the perpetrator in the face at the end. Tell me guys, what on earth can any wife do to her hubby to deserve such from him? The issue is not a funny one at all. |
Jokes Etc / Re: Let Practice Some Pranks by jonjon(f): 12:15pm On Mar 25, 2008 |
My favorite prank is to poke people who least expect it on both sides, u know that soft part around the waist. Do like you're just passing behind them and then poke them with both hands. You'd be surprised how some ppl with very strong face suddenly jump 4 feet high and shout. Heh heh heh. I've been doing it for over ten years and i'm still not tired of it. My favorite victim is my mum. After 6 kids she still jumps quite high. Surprising. Now when my friends see me coming close to them, even with a straight face, you see them trying to cover their flanks with anything they can find, once bitten, twice shy. |
Romance / Re: Confused!!!!! by jonjon(f): 8:40pm On Mar 24, 2008 |
You know, i think d person asking wants a sincere answer, i think the babes should quit bashing the guys and let them give answers. I would be glad to hear the reasons from the guys themselves. So ladies, allow them to answer the question pleeze. Why do guys cheat? |
Romance / Re: Is It A Tradition For A Married Man To Have A Girlfriend? by jonjon(f): 5:37pm On Mar 24, 2008 |
I heard a man today, when asked why he had to have a child from his mistress (she orchestrated the pregnancy, not him) he said because, his wife only had boys and no girl. When his friends asked him if his wife was aware of the "outside" child he shivered and begged all of them not to tell. I think a real man, saint or sinner MUST own up to his misdeeds ANYWHERE ANYTIME. Don't blame it on anyone else. Learn to say, "Yes, I did it and nobody forced me, i just felt like doing it. If your wife takes a walk, it's just a consequence of your action and you can choose to go and beg her or not. Accept the blame, face the consequences and move Ahead. Gbam! |

Career / Re: Why Do Most Female Secretaries Sleep With Their Bosses? by jonjon(f): 6:12pm On Mar 05, 2008 |
Divorce rates and sexual promiscuity have been on the rise ever since women started to take office jobs. I guess it created an avenue for them to meet more men, in this case colleagues. clients and of course ogas. Now if the woman and the oga are ready to mingle regardless of marital status. Who or what is there to stop them? Let's just say that the environment is "enabling". Trust me on this, I'm a working woman. Sometimes you just encounter temptation. |
Romance / Re: Funny Marriage Proposal by jonjon(f): 5:27pm On Mar 05, 2008 |
She has a right to be annoyed. If she was d one that spoke so carelessly, she wouldn't have been tolerated. But I suspect they never had mush love between them anyway, u know her reaction smacks of the accumulated annoyance of four years. |
