Thanks for the response. So if i get an outcome letter for degree alone, so in my application... I will not claim point for employment experience?
Then another thing is....only Tasmania is sponsoring Customer Service manager on 190. The other state Adelaide is sponsoring on 489. Should i go with Adelaide's 489 considering that Adelaide has opporrunities or Tasmania 190 though the state has the highest unemployment rate in Australia
you do not need/have to claim points for experience. As for choosing a state, I know nothing and can't advice u on that matter. Good luck

@Jorgan please come and explain more on this point test. What happened were the person got positive for employment and negative for Uni does the same thing imply.

I need to know so I can still dust oga documents and try the point test.

can't say for sure, but I know that some assessing bodies example ACS sometimes access only your employment then refer you to vetassess to get your qualifications accessed so it really boils down to ur assessing body, in ur case it's tricky, if u can get 60 points without qualifications but a positive in employment then I suggest u call DIBP and ask if u r eligible, additionally not all assessing bodies give point tests advice separately . It would have been safer if ur assessing body can give u a PTA for employment alone to clean up the bad stain a negative assessment letter has on ur final application. In my case I have been told by vetassess to contact dibp and ask if I can get my 15 points through a PTA regardless of my overall negative assessment.

House, am back again. So am afraid of getting a negative assessment from VETASSES because my qualification is not relevant to my work experience. Can I apply as a Zoologist and indicate I do not want to claim points for work experience. Can that get me a positive assessment?
Oga Bellong and Co, help a distressed soul

To help urself from getting seriously burnt by vetassess just like me, I advice u have a phone consultation with their agent, that costs $220 for 30 minutes. If u nominate customer service manager as ur occupation irrespective of ur degree, as long as u have more than 3 years of experience u should be able to get a positive outcome for ur overall skills assessment.(This waiver is only restricted to some occupations tho)

Another thing u can do without consultation first is to nominate zoologist as ur occupation and do a full assessment even with ur banking experience, but u will eventually get a positive outcome for qualification ( comparable to AQF) but negative for ur employment then ur overall outcome will be negative. BUT that won't be d end, you will den proceed to get a POINT TESTS ADVICE from vetassess $380 to get an outcome letter for your degree alone. That will effect your 15 points and it will be taken into consideration by DIBP. I got to learn about this from vetassess on Friday, because we hv been in an ongoing battle for 8 good months

CASE CLOSED. This case was open on this forum and closed before with the same conclusion.

Thanks lawland for the example from experience. If we like we can read all blogs but one single comparable experience helps put the mind at rest.
Thanks NNBB2012 for the info. Alphadoor #5 pt_movement#

Summary for others

As far as you have a positive assessment from an assessing body and the point you are claiming is clearly supported by CEP. the following applies...

1) If you have a positive assessment with one qualification and have another qualification that is higher you can use the higher qualification to claim point.
2) If your assessment authority is silent on the higher qualification - you can claim point for it
3) If the qualification is not related to your occupation - you can claim point for it
4) Even if you complete the highest qualification yesterday - you can claim point for it today

@ZoeW edit your 189 EOI Asap congrat on your ITA in advance grin

@jorgan
Keep trying bro, it will be alright next attempt.

Summarize Text (30-40 w): Following A who did what type format to write
Or
Divide and Conquer - That's how you do it !

Here's a trick some people used. If there are 3 paragraph in the summary text article, They made one line summary of the 3 paragraph and then joined them together or made a summary of the summary.

Describe Graph: following a format/ template.

Tips number 1. You don't need to describe everything. Content doesn't matter, but Pronunciation and Oral Fluency. It is impossible to explain everything in 40s, hence worry about your Flow and Pronunciation.

Template:

Introduction: 10 s

This graph/bar chart/pie/etc shows the (chart name) from (this year) to (this year) or (over this certain year) or similar depending on the question.

Body points: 20s

Choose any point you like, it doesn't matter if you leave the most important data, just don't stop talking. For example, you can say,

1. the maximum is this.
2. the minimum is this

That's just the simplest of example, you can say a variety of that.
That's 2 points, you can also say more points if you have time.

Conclusion: 10 s

Most people don't say conclusion and hence lose marks. It is one of the most important thing. Official guideline say you should try give a conclusion.

You should definitely use either Overall or In conclusion to start the conclusion with so the computer understands you are saying a conclusion.

e.g. In conclusion, the trend shows its rising, or In conclusion, A is always higher than B, etc.

Most important: Don't correct yourself if you make a mistake - it's quite hard as it's our habit to do so, just say the next word, even if its xxxxxxxxxx, just keep on talking : Yes this tip is from Pearson. Computer doesn't care what you say, but how you say it !!!
This is very helpful, thanks for this

This is not to spite of insult you. It is for lack of better word.

What you have done is Penny wise, pounds foolish. $810 is enough to write 3-4 English test depending on the one you write.

Why subject yourself to the torture of Vetasses all over again when you could have written another English test.

You have a positive assessment in your hand, I don't think getting a state sponsorship is that easy either without adequate work experience. Young man, dust your English and ace the 20 points.

Yes, you can do it.. others have done it.. you will not be an exemption.

Thanks bellong, u r right! I was having doubts about writing another English test cause I have made 4 attempts in 6 months. But since it's my last hope now, I hv no choice! Thanks for d pep up

greetings to everyone, please i need your help (especially for those that have assessed with vetassess) and advice on a very serious issue.

Before the new MTLSSL and STSOL list was released in April i had already put in my EOI for state nomination visa 190 for the occupation PROJECT BUILDER. Vetassess is the assessing body for this occupation. I got a positive outcome for this occupation way back in January. My points breakdown is:-

Age:- 30 Points
Qualification:- 15 points
English:- 10 points

but when the list changed, the occupation project builder was only restricted to the visa 189 rather than 190, but i don't meet the minimum points to apply for the 189. So what i did was to nominate another occupation construction project manager which can be used to apply for visa 190 through state nomination.

The way vetassess assesses is very demonic as they do not assess separately for qualification and employment but rather they do both at once in a full assessment. i got my assessment for the change of occupation few days back and the outcome letter states that my Qualification is highly relevant to the occupation i have nominated, but my work experience is not highly relevant. That both qualifications and work experience must be positive to get a "POSITIVE SKILLS ASSESSMENT OUTCOME".

I only want to claim points for qualification and i do not even have enough years to claim points for experience. if it were possible, i would have just assessed for qualification alone, but vetassess dont assess a single aspect of your skills. I just spoke with my case officer a few minutes ago to see if i can use my qualification alone on that outcome letter to claim points for my qualification for EOI, but she stated that i must present both positive qualification and positive employment for visa 190/189, that it is only in the case of applying for a post study work visa that i can present only qualification.

so right now i am at a crossroad because i dont think the woman knows what she is taking about. do i go on with submitting an EOI claiming points for age, english and qualification but in the outcome letter reference number( which carries a positive qualification and a negative employment) in my application form or just look elsewhere for inspiration in getting points?

Please and please i have been on this issue for two days now i am lopping everyone for an advice? thanks so much

@ metrecube; Congrats

please want to ask; I have a B.Sc. in Building from Nigeria and an MSc. in Construction Project Management from The UK, with about 1-3 years experience in the construction industry. My question is should i be applying for project builder or construction project manager?
to add to what metrecube said, I would advise that you assess construction project manager instead of project builder becos with construction project manager, you can apply for either d 189 n 190 subclasses, or even d regional but with project builder u r only restricted to visa 189! I am currently facing ds problem I initially got assessed as a project builder and put in my EOI for 190 but after the skilled list was revised, d occupation was removed from d state list, I now hv to reassess as a construction project manager as I only hv 55 points and I m relying on d state nomination

Very funny day. My battery was at 2% at 2pm waiting for the ITA. I was in the bank, waiting for confirmation before paying for medicals. Some mins past two, no invite... omo, I started thinking about the people that might have been doing me from the village. Next thing I heard was the round will be at 3pm. You need to see me asking security and strangers for usb charger. Shortly after the thing landed at 3pm, my phone went off till this evening.

Thaks to everyone that have been part of the journey to this stage. Respect to chief bnimz, the selfless mamajaz and Jamson. Crazy to say that this round is that last possible round for 60pointers till God knows when and also the last complete round for the year's quota. Its all grace.
Its been a long journey.... Thankful

Don't mislead people, get ur facts right! This round is not the last one

Result of IELTS of 4th March, 2017 have just been released. I had a near perfect score which recently expired. Surprisingly, my scores in this latest test is unbelievable, it is ridiculous. How can one go from LRWS 8/9/8/8.5 to 7/6.5/7/6.5 in just about 2 years? Please note that I lived in the UK for the better part of those 2 year period. "I'm not understanding".
Is someone there cooking up scores? If that is the case then IELTS in Nigeria is a scam.

i just suffered the same predicament, its not only nigeria but here in Australia as well! On to PTE straight

Thanks Jorgan for that detailed response. But is it that getting an Australian Drivers licence is Hard?
I can't say for sure if it's easy getting an AU license but I know that there r different classes of licenses with crazy restrictions n monitoring. There is the L, P1, P2 & C! You must take some driving lessons, fill logs n then some exams. The most independent license here I think is the C, but for the rest there r speed restrictions, second, third n even fourth party monitoring. Google to get a better insight

make u no laugh me, I'm heading to Newcastle university... but mehnnn their campuses are plenty.. all scattered from Sydney to Newcastle city from Newcastle city to Newcastle precinct from there to Singapore then to one other name like that...all the same..my flight will land in Sydney. maybe I have to head straight to the school to determine my base...have you gotten your grant?

Just a little advice for you:-

Carry ur load and base in Sydney. Yes UoN has campuses in Sydney, Ourimbah, Callaghan n Newcastle city precinct! If your chosen program has core courses in Sydney just stay in Sydney n don't come to Newcastle. Otherwise if you want to base in Newcastle, bring your drivers license (naija license) it's a must! Set aside 800 -1600$ to get a car! If not, you will struggle trying to get a job here, trust me, you will struggle! This is not a case of people with different luck or that you don't need to get a car, you got God n hustle skills! Big NO! Hell NO! Guys here hv stayed up to 6 months without getting a job, some hv been forced to move to Sydney (where you can get jobs easily) some have had to travel outside Newcastle everyday to work! The only jobs you can find here r cleaning jobs, retail replenish n age care! All of which you need a car! As long as you r on a student visa, don't come to Newcastle.

However if you don't want to take my advice n u still want to come to Newcastle, buy plenty tissue papers and jackets! You will cry so you need tissue to wipe ur tears, then the jacket is for the cold, you know, it's winter so you will need to cover your body while waiting at the bus stop for public transport that don't arrive according to schedule.

Overall, Newcastle is a friendly city with great multicultural people! Downside: getting a job, n transportation.

Hello house,

Please I have some pertinent questions that I need you guys to answer

1. Do Australian universities request for official transcripts sent from foreign universities to consider international students for admission like US and Canada schools do

2. How much is the current exchange rate of the AUD to the NGN. I'm applying to UNSW and they are requesting for an application fee of AUD100. Please I'll like to know the Naira equivalent of this.

Thanks in anticipation for your answers.

Hello,

1. Yes Australian unis request for your official transcript. You can send directly to the school you plan to apply yourself or you can request your school to make the transfer (soft copy).

2. Nigeria trades in three major currencies, the USD, POUNDs and EUROs! And the most widely used is the USD. No set rate for the AUD. However, you can get around this, since you will pay for your application fee using your debit or credit bank provided by a Nigerian bank, u will be debited in USD/naira. Hence the rate of 1 USD to 1 AUD as @ the point of typing this is 1.30 dollars. Now divide AUD100 by 1.30 this approximately gives you USD77 then multiply the USD77 by the black market rate of your debit card provider, say 295 naira (Stanbic). Your application fee then is 22,715 naira.

I hope this is clear enough?!

if I am not mistaking, uwa is cheaper than Macquarie. Both cities have great job opportunities, whether Casual jobs/part-time or full time. Realistically, Sydney has more job opportunities and a higher cost of living compared to Perth.

If I were you, I would just go for the uwa offer since its 2 years, you can get more post study visa options after completing your studies compared to the 1.5 years Macquarie is offering you. That's if you plan on settling down in au after studies. You can also easily get a casual job in Perth. Most africans r there.

Hi, I'm new here and I need a lot of help. Is it possible to apply to a school in Australia and still meet up this year? Are there good schools that one can apply for Masters using a 3rd class Bachelor's Degree from Nigeria. Is it possible to be granted a study visa even though I have no one in Australia? Thanks a lot. Expecting a reply soon

Hello, yes you can meet up this year! The intake dates for Aussie universities fall in the months of February/March, May, July/August & November on Trimester & Semester basis.

Yes, you can use a 3rd class Bachelor Degree from Nigeria to apply and get an offer. But be ready to apply in at least 3-4 universities to improve ur chances.

Yes you can be granted a student visa whether you have someone there or not.
