Politics / Buhari's Government Strengthened Boko Haram By Paying Ransoms - Obasanjo by joshchisimdi: 5:00pm On May 18, 2019
Olusegun Obasanjo, Nigeria's former President who spoke at the 2nd session of the Synod held at the Cathedral Church of St.Paul’s Anglican Church, Oleh in Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State, stated that Buhari's government strengthened Boko Haram by paying ransoms.The former President who warned that every insecurity situation in Nigeria must be taken seriously and be addressed at once without favouritism or cuddling, spoke on the topic, “Mobilizing Nigeria’s human& natural resources for national development and stability”.

Admitting that Boko Haram and herdsmen acts of violence were not treated as they should at the beginning, Obasanjo stated that Buhari's government strengthened Boko Haram by paying ransoms which they have continuously denied. He said;

“They have both incubated and developed beyond what Nigeria can handle alone. They are now combined and internationalized with ISIS in control. It is no longer an issue of lack of education and lack of employment for our youths in Nigeria which it began as, it is now West African fulanization, African Islamization and global organized crimes of human trafficking, money laundering, drug trafficking, gun trafficking, illegal mining and regime change.

“Yet, we could have dealt with both earlier, and nip them in the bud, but Boko Haram boys were seen as rascals not requiring serious attention in administering holistic measures of stick and carrot. And when we woke up to the reality, it was turned to industry for all and sundry to supply materials and equipment that were already outdated and that were not fit for active military purpose.

“Soldiers were poorly trained for the unusual mission, poorly equipped, poorly motivated, poorly led and made to engage in propaganda rather than achieving results. Intelligence was poor and governments embarked on games of denials while paying ransoms which strengthened the insurgents and yet governments denied payments of ransoms. Today, the insecurity issue has gone beyond the wit and capacity of Nigerian Government or even West African Governments”.

Politics / Nigerians Should Have A Day Monthly For Crying- Aregbesola by joshchisimdi: 4:48pm On May 18, 2019
Rauf Aregbesola, the immediate past Governor of Osun State who spoke at a symposium to celebrate Hon Abdulahi Ayinde Enilolobo, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos, stated that Nigerians should have a day monthly for crying. The former Osun State Governor who expressed concern over the growing population and the lean revenue accruing to the nation, revealed that if we don’t work harder to improve our fortunes, we would continue to be poor. Stating that Nigerians should have a day monthly for crying, Aregbesola further added that we have to check our population by practicing birth control.

“We don’t remember that we are poor here in Nigeria. If we have a deep thought, we ought to have a day of weeping every month. If we don’t work harder to improve our fortunes, we would continue to be poor. In 2017, Brazil had a population of approximately 200 million people almost about what Nigeria had. That year, Brazil had a revenue of about $600  billion and a budget of $700 billion.  Nigeria in that same year made $13 billion and a budget of $23 billion. Are the two countries equal?"

Religion / Men Must Tell Their Bosses To Pay Their Salaries To Their Wives – Evang. Aning by joshchisimdi: 3:52pm On May 15, 2019
Evangelist Aning, a Ghanaian gospel singer has stated that married men must tell their bosses to pay their salaries into their wives account. According to Evangelist Aning, men telling their bosses to pay their salaries into their wives account will bring peace and prosperity in the house. He further revealed that he has been practicing that for some time.

“Men should even change their salary name into their wive’s names so that at the end of the month, the women will go for the money and give some to the men”, he said in an interview with Dave Hammer on Hello Entertainment Review. "For me, after every show, I give all the money I get to my wife to count and keep it, she gives me some if I need it. I am saying this because women are very good in taking care of the family and also know the needs of the children”.

Wole Soyinka who spoke at the prestigious Georgetown University in Washington, United States, paid a special tribute to Leah Sharibu, the Dapchi Christian schoolgirl who is still being held captive by Boko Haram. Soyinka in his tribute to Leah Sharibu, compared her to late South African iconic human rights champion and president, Nelson Mandela.

He said at the event;
“We must celebrate the exception who said ‘no’ “as it reminded me of Mandela who refused conditional release". Reciting the ode, “Mandela comes to Leah”, the renowned playwright clarified: “No”, she said, “Faith is not of compulsion. Her torch undimmed in the den of zealots.”

The Nobel laureate also shut down claims made by a Georgetown professor, who alleged that poverty and desperation were behind the Boko Haram insurgency.

However in an Insta-story post which served as a reaction to the DMs he got after he spoke against fraud, Eldee revealed that some Nigerians have been wishing him death. He concluded by stating that 'Nigeria is surely in deep trouble'.

Celebrities / Nse Ikpe-Etim: I Removed My Womb To Live A Normal Life by joshchisimdi: 4:43am On May 12, 2019
Nse Ikpe-Etim, the Nollywood actress who won the 'Best Actress in a Drama' award at the 2014 Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards amongst other awards, has revealed that she had to remove her womb to live a normal life. The 44-year-old actress who rose to prominence in 2008 for her role in ‘Reloaded’, engaged her fans with her life ahead of the premiere of ‘Heaven’s Hell’ which she featured in. In an event tagged ‘Conversation with Nse', she disclosed that her father died when she was 15, leaving only her mother, who was a teacher, to take on the burden of raising the family.

Nse Ikpe-Etim who disclosed that she is never going to have a baby, revealed that she removed her womb to live a normal life after she was diagnosed three years ago with Adenomyosis (a condition whereby the inner lining of the uterus breaks through the muscle wall of the uterus).

“I was told I couldn’t have kids,” she said to the now sombre audience. “And so, I had to have a hysterectomy (removal of the uterus) to make me have a life again and to stop going through what I was going through. And I’m literarily telling women and men, it really doesn’t matter if you can’t bear children. What really matters is what you would do for the world, for the universe. Tears dropped and then my husband squeezed my hand. It was reassuring there was someone there and it was telling me that this is reality, my reality.”

Family / I Never Rejected House Offer For Borehole - Jigawa Gateman by joshchisimdi: 4:21am On May 12, 2019
The Jigawa gateman who served his boss for 25 years in Lagos and had a borehole commissioned in his community, has disclosed that he never rejected a house offer for a borehole.Recall that few weeks ago, Social media was recent abuzz with the news of a gateman who exhibited an unusual act of selflessness by rejecting a house gift from his boss, and instead requesting for a borehole to be built in his community.

However in a new interview with Daily Trust, Musa Usman, the Jigawa gateman who stated that he never rejected a house offer for a borehole, added that no one talked to him about a house. He said;

Nobody talked to me about a house. It is only the issue of a borehole that is at hand for now. If there is any other thing that may be due for consideration, it could be for some other time. This is because of my hard work and honesty. I am a source of pride to my people. What I have come to realize with my boss is, when he wants to render assistance to anyone, he does not make noise over it. There is no such thing. The offer was for the borehole and it has been constructed.
