Politics / New Year: Experts Want More Focus On Post Oil Economy by Junistark: 11:23pm On Jan 01, 2019
Experts on Economy say the way forward for Nigeria in 2019 is to focus on post oil economy, build infrastructure and reduce cost of governance to revamp the nation’s economy.

Mrs Lolade Adesola, Mr Samson Olalere and Mr Raji Rasaki, who are economic experts, gave the advice in separate interviews with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ibadan on Tuesday
Adesola said there was need for adjustments across board so that the country could cope well under the present economic realities of low revenue and high debt servicing. “The reality is that our revenue is not growing and the price of crude oil is below 50 dollars per barrel. The bottom line is that the 2019 budget is lower than that of 2018; the total amount of the budget is the size of South Africa’s budget for education. “The revenue the country made in 2018 when crude oil was sold for 70 dollars is not realistic in 2019, so there is need for creative people in government to begin to think about ways to raise money to finance the budget because we have the largest economy in the whole of Africa. “We need to focus on import substitution for our agricultural produces and export processed products instead of raw materials. This will fetch us more revenue. “For instance, we need to develop our dairy business; people who are into milk production in the country have none of that milk produced in Nigeria; they import milk and just package it into tins, meanwhile we have cows in Nigeria,” she said. Adesola, further stressed the need to improve on the revenue generation as the deficit in the 2019 budget was higher than what was expected. “The recurrent expenditure is 45 per cent, meaning we will be borrowing to pay salaries and then there is a clamor for increase in minimum wage. Borrowing to pay salaries itself is a political exigency which is not best economic solutions.
Salary increase should only be for people at the bottom so they can earn a decent living. It should not be for people at the middle or at the top.

“Lip service to agriculture and showmanship will lead us nowhere; we need to improve on agriculture as well as construct rural roads because we still have produces perishing in the farms.

” she said. The economist, however, said there was need to reduce the size of the government to save cost of governance and find other ways to increase revenue. Rasaki, in his submission, said infrastructure development was key as well as creating conducive environment for foreign investors to boost the economy.

“When we put infrastructure,in place, we will have the influx of foreign investors; in the past, the cost of running business via power in Nigeria killed most of the manufacturing businesses.

“But now that we have improved on power generation and distribution, a lot of companies are showing interest in coming back; government can give tax holiday to direct foreign investors, especially those that are creating jobs and those that source for raw materials locally for production.

“Any manufacturing company that is looking inward or that wants to engage local farmers in production of its raw materials should be encouraged through tax exemption,

” rasaki said. Olalere, however, said that the country’s focus should be on post oil economy, considering the situation in the oil market globally.

“For the leadership of this nation to take it to the next level, we must be thinking of what happens after oil fails in the global market and so we must think about human capital development.

“We have so many resources untapped in this nation, the tourism sector and others are waiting to be explored. In the next five to 10 years, crude oil will become irrelevant as far as the world market is concerned; new inventions that require non-oil usage are gaining ground,” olalere said. Olalere enjoined all to do away with partisan politics and seek ways to build the nation’s economy as well as engage experts in the relevant field to forge clear paths for the nation’s growth. (NAN)

Politics / Electing Atiku Will Retard Nigeria’s Devt For 20 Years – Osinkolu by Junistark: 11:12pm On Jan 01, 2019
A CHIEFTAIN of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ekiti State, Dr. Olusegun Osinkolu, said that it would be catastrophic for Nigerians to elect Atiku Abubakar, alleging that would hand over the country’s economy to a few cabal to manipulate at the expense of the masses.

4 years— Peter Obi Osinkolu maintained that the best way to actualize the expected hope that would reshape the country for the better, is to re- elect President Buhari.

Osinkolu, who is national adviser (Southwest), Buhari/Osinbajo National Support Committee, said the country’s economic prowess and political emancipation would be reversed by 20 years, if the opposition PDP returns to power in the next elections.

The Buhari’s campaign chief said it would be foolhardy for people to bring back to power, a party that ruined the country for16 years, four years after it was wholesomely rejected by Nigerians. In a congratulatory message to Nigerians to mark the new year,Osinkolu said: “Nigerians should be full of hope as we approach 2019, because the APC-led federal government has taken steps to re-jig and reinvigorate our economy and the dividends are gradually manifesting in every facet of the country’s growth. But for this development to really manifest, Nigerians should re-elect President Buhari, that is where our hope lies.

“In the 1999, 2003, 2007 and 2011 general elections, Nigerians voted with emotions and they ended up gaining nothing from such misadventure. But when they shed the toga of sectionalism and vote for merit rather than mediocrity in 2015, the signs are beginning to show that we are moving up.

“It will do us a great deal of benefits to resist attempt by PDP to bounce back to reckoning . This will slow down the diversification of the economy, rail lines and roads construction across the country, virulent fight against insurgency and fight against corruption being undertaken under President Buhari

What Is The Logo Of Your Benz? – Fisayo Soyombo

Those who believe in God know that there are times He uses the unworthy vessel to work wonders. One was Moses the stammerer, who considered himself unqualified but was nevertheless picked to lead the Israelites to the Promised Land. Another was Saul, the man who went about arresting believers of Jesus but then not only turned one himself but also spent his time seeking converts.

This piece was written by Fisayo Soyombo. The views and opinions expressed here are those of the author and do not necessarily reflect the official policy or position of Bossmeek.com.ng.

Please ignore the opening paragraph if you’re an atheist or your religious leaning isn’t Christianity. Here’s the summary: sometimes the wrong person preaches the right message. Sometimes, too, and without waiting to be called, the wrong person preaches the wrong message, but in a way that serves as an unintended wakeup call for the people — if they are smart enough — to seize the initiative and seek out the right.

As it happened last week, musical artistes Olamide and Lil Kesh propagated a message that just doesn’t stop at being wrong but calls for renewed national introspection. The duo — each popular among secular music lovers despite their notoriety for releasing songs low in content but high on lurid lyrics, obscene videos and danceable beats — combined to release what will go down as the most repulsive song of the year, titled ‘Logo Benz’. Without listening to the song, a mere look at the cover says it all: the round insignia of global automobile marque, Mercedes-Benz, strapped together on three ends by a G-string. The song preaches riches by hook or crook. “I pray to Jesus, I pray to Allah, to make money,” reads a loose Pidgin-English translation of the song. “But if money doesn’t come, I’ll do ‘blood money.’” In orther parts, it urges ladies to let go of their pants to guys in need of them for Benz-buying rituals.

Expectedly, the public reaction has been largely critical. But why is anyone shocked about a song applauding the use of ladies’ pants for quick-money-making rituals? Olamide/Lil Kesh’s ‘Logo Benz’ is the story of our society — one so ‘dangerously’ lacking in values, depth, substance, conscience and perseverance.

Here in Nigeria, the biggest way to command respect is to have money, regardless of how you made it. Just open your mouth and speak gibberish; as long as you have money, there’s an audience waiting to clap you. While I do not think money should attract automatic condemnation, one basic qualifier for me is that it must be ‘honestly made’.

Not too many people care, though; dishonestly-made money is money all the same, and it rules. You’ll find young men who date ladies/women SOLELY because of money, and vice versa; people who take jobs SOLELY because of money; people whose choices of their life partners are SOLELY motivated by money; people who dispense respect ONLY according to the pocket of the next fellow; people who class themselves aside and wouldn’t mix with others simply because, as Wizkid said, ‘my money and your money no be mate’.
We are largely a value-impoverished society, and this is first and foremost because the family is shirking its responsibilities as the first societal unit. To digress a bit, from time to time, I come across people with certain character flaws that are strictly down to deficient upbringing. Not that anyone, not least the writer, is perfect. But there are certain values that, if not picked up as part of family training, are hardly retrievable later in life. The unfortunate thing is that people with character flaws of this nature do not even realise they have a problem, that they need help.

There is a lot of work to be done if we must address the gaping value deficit afflicting us. The family is the first basis. Parents need to realise they’re raising not just their kids but the country’s ambassadors. We must address the ephemerality that has come to define marriages; if homes keep breaking up children will bear the brunt. Something is usually missing when a father or mother is absent in the formative years of a child, due to single parenthood or divorce. There usually are gaps with children raised by grandparents such as a retired teacher or an ‘old soldier’; it’s just not the same. Religious institutions must play their part. Enough of hero-worshipping moneybags; enough of presenting the church as dumping ground for ill-gotten wealth. We need more religious leaders like Sarah Omakwu, senior pastor, Family Worship Centre (FWC), Wuye, Abuja, renowned for her advance rejection to congregants intending to pay tithe with stolen money. Subjects that teach honesty, integrity and incorruptibility should be introduced to the curriculum, from primary school till tertiary level. And the National Orientation Agency (NOA) should get involved as well. This is a national emergency; if the depravity of now is left to continue growing at its current pace, it would be irreversible in probably a few decades — that is if it still is.

Until we fix the family especially and the general values upon which our lives are woven, musical artistes of the ilk of Olamide and Lil Kesh will continue to occasionally propagate evil in the name of money-making. I hope someone sings it loud into Olamide’s ears: money is good; very important, in fact. But it is NOT the most important thing in life. For everyone who comes to us with a Benz, we must not celebrate until we have first asked: “What is the logo of your Benz?” Pants, blood, corruption, crime? Or sweat, hard work, ingenuity, creativity? And ill-gotten wealth should NEVER be celebrated — because the dishonestly wealthy man is poorer at heart than the poorest but honest man alive.

Then Davido just entered 30 billion gang shit and went straight to drag out Kizz manager that was jejely going on his own and gave him a hot slap and poured drink on his face and was like “don’t Bleep with me”

Celebrities / Davido Ingnore Lady Who Got Robbed And Sexually Harrassed by Junistark: 10:48am On Dec 28, 2018
A lady has accused Davido of ignoring her while she got robbed and sexually harrassed at his concert which held at Eko Atlantic City in Lagos.

The Lady identified as Karimah @hrh_karimah took to her Twitter page to narrate the story with a photo of the injuries she sustained.

She wrote:

I was robbed and assaulted at @iam_Davido#InfinixDavidoLiveInConcert. And davido looked straight at me and continued the show.
I lost my phone,my ATM card and all my money all because you couldn’t pause the show and see that your fans were dying. A grown man groped me, inserted his fingers in my vagina and continuously beat me up. I fell down on broken glass and you just continued.
I was literally stranded at eko Atlantic all the way from ikeja. I told my mum that only rapture was going to stop me from seeing davido and I wish rapture actually happened before this concert..
Before this incident I was like your biggest fan.I didn’t have money but I entered a lot of fake giveaways and called my friends to send me money to come and see you at your concert.
Now I’m in more debt. All my properties are gone and I have a broken arm and a black eye as souvenirs from your concert. The crazy thing was you looked directly at me and continued performing.

What would you wear to church this weekend? We’d like to know what you plan on wearing and if you have no clue then we are glad to share some of the most fabulous looks you’ll see today. This would help you make a more informed decision on what’s comfortable and right for Sunday.

The church outfit ideas in this look book is just what you need. Take a lo

This has to be my favourite look in this list, that’s not why it’s at the top though, it happens to be the simplest combo in this post. So for Sunday just through on a cute fitted dress, wear your heels and you are ready

This is a glam look, a yellow suit (not on your typical style)paired simply with a cute purse and face defining earrings. Don’t let the colour deter you from a look like this, remember yellow was made for dark skinned people.

You are right about the style options we have on this post, they are completely CHIC. There’s no excuse to a terrible look on Sunday and so while you want simple, it must at least be as fantastic as this ensemble below.

Well you want to go dor all-white then make it a banger; simply and white don’t go hand in hand and if you need a bit of color throw that in as a handbag or/and a sun-glass.

You should crank up your chic casual style for Sunday – Let your printed floral shirt be defined like a puff sleeve and rather than an ordinary pant try a rise flared hemline.

What would you d with that big belt you bought weeks or years ago? Simple, wear it over a very chic printed shirt and loose pants. Keep your accessory simple and precise but cool too.

Celebrities / My Special Effects Sometimes Scare Me by Junistark: 9:33am On Dec 15, 2018
Hakeem Onilogbo popularly known as Hakeem Effect is an award-winning makeup and special effects artiste in Nigeria’s movie industry.

Known for creating illusions and close-to-reality effects, Hakeem spoke to Punch Newspaper on his talent and how his own creations sometimes scare him at nights.
Read:
“Sometimes, after I have built a body prosthetic, and I wake up in the middle of the night to do something, I usually forget I was the one that built the body, so I get scared a little bit. When such occurrences take place, I just calm myself down.”
Interestingly, my children are already used to my works, so even sometimes, when they see a real incident similar to some of my effects, they call my attention to it. I always tell them that every scary thing they see on the road is not a special effect. Nothing can scare my children; they are used to seeing blood and horrible things because I create some of my effects at home.“
When I was a child, I had it in mind that I would be a great actor; I never knew I would go into special effects at all. I ventured into the movie industry 12 years ago and I started as an actor. But I can’t act again; I can only go into movie production. However, man proposes, but God disposes.
“Interestingly, I learnt this art in dreams; I didn’t have any form of training to acquire this skill. I started improving the skill as time went on. I was 28 years old when I used to have the dreams; I always tell people that they shouldn’t try to compete with anyone in life.
“I used to paint as a child, my parents are very proud of me. I am the only one (out of my parents’ children) that didn’t have the opportunity to attend a university, but despite that, everything still turned out well.

“Every job has its own challenges; most of my jobs that impress people are the jobs I have experimented with on my own before using them for movies. I experiment a lot. My most memorable effect would be transforming some people into President Muhammadu Buhari and Nelson Mandela. I’ll never forget these works because it is not easy to replicate

Celebrities / Re: Daddy Freeze Fights Back At Akpororo Comment by Junistark: 4:00pm On Dec 08, 2018
Junistark:
Daddy Freeze has reacted to comedian, Akpororo's attack on him during his performance at #TheExperience13, a Christian musical concert which took place in Lagos yesterday December 7th.

During his performance, Akpororo said if he were to be a pastor, he would have an annoying anointing that can turn people like Daddy Freeze into a wall gecko so he would stop talking and become harmless. (read HERE)

Daddy Freeze in his response said, 'Akpororo's resplendent display of utter ignorance could have been avoided, should the church have chosen not to employ the services of what would be regarded in civilized climes as a circus clown, to minister on the pulpit'.

Read his full response below...

Wow, “in fact I no wan see your bible, it’s working for me” really got me... Is #TheExperience now used to advertise the fact that bible study is no longer essential?

This public rejection of scriptural evidence, can only serve to highlight Apororo’s nescience of the subject matter, which sadly is in symphony with the untaught stance of most Pentecostal pastors, who subscribe to subjectivism in contradistinction to intellectualism.

However, my disappointment does not lie in Apororo, but moreso in Paul Adefarasin, who could allow someone so uncultivated in scriptural matters, address such a delicate issue as tithing on his platform, before the public.

Apororo’s paedolalia on stage brought to light an absurd level of benightedness that perhaps would have otherwise remained veiled.

Even Paul Adefarasin himself, despite more than 2 decades as a pastor, is still visibly struggling to acquire a more comprehensive understanding and as a result, offer a more punctilious thesis on the topic, without lending his endorsement, like most of his counterparts are, to emotional and sentimental assertions.

This resplendent display of utter ignorance could have been avoided, should the church have chosen not to employ the services of what would be regarded in civilized climes as a circus clown, to minister on the pulpit, which remains one of the huge demerits of mixing secular comedy with secular concert style events to attract a larger crowd.

Also, lest I forget, Apororo, it wasn’t a lion but a bear that attacked the boys in that Elisha story, read that bible bruv, it won’t bite you!

Romance / Three Top Reasons Why Christmas Is The Best Time To Meet Your Partners Family by Junistark: 5:56pm On Dec 03, 2018
It is a fact that ladies are always tensed and scared to meet their man’s family, it does happen because the lady does not have a clue of the kind of people she is going to meet. She is unaware of their norms, beliefs or values and any fault from her would determine the future of her relationship. Every lady would want to impress her man’s family in any way she can just to make sure she gets good comments during her first visit, well Christmas is here and it is the best time, also an opportunity to shine and get his family to love and give you good compliments, here are a few reasons;

1. You can buy his mother a gift without looking like you are sucking up

Mothers love gifts and can also be suspicious of the gift especially when it is giving by her son’s partner and apparently for no reason. Christmas implements an extreme reason to give her gifts and she wouldn’t look like you are trying to impress her.

2. They might likely not notice your awkwardness because it’s Christmas and everybody is a little bit crazy about it

There’s always so much family drama during Christmas that any small drama you might cause will not be noticeable so you are more likely to be accepted irrespective of your one or two mistakes.

3. There would be no time for long and intense interviews because of activities and you will also get to meet everybody at the same time

There would be no time for long stares, judging eyes and intense interviews about your true intentions, instead you would be seen as another helping hand which you can use to actually create a bond with them while serving or preparing food.

man’s family this Christmas? or still tensed up on how they would react? Use this few tips and you are on your way to a long-lasting relationship.
