Politics / Re: Ekpa Announces Weeklong Sit-at-home To Demand Release Of Nnamdi Kanu by KADASE: 11:48am On Jun 14, 2023
This Nnamdi Kanu's case is very sticky and I wonder how President Tinubu is going to handle it. Release Nnamdi Kanu, problem. Incarcerate him, problem. Buhari avoided all these and handed over these problems to Tinubu.
The only solution that can tame this monster is when a fellow Igbo man becomes the President of Nigeria. Apart from that Nnamdi Kanu is a radical personality that he will not listen to any other person except his fellow Igbo man who will incidentally be the President of Nigeria.
Politics / Re: Dear Yorubas I Want To Know Why You Do This Always? by KADASE: 5:47pm On Jun 10, 2023
It is unfortunate that that hatred has always been there since time immemorial towards the Igbos especially from the Yorubas since the end of the civil war.

I believe it has to do with the way the Igbos recovered fast enough to provide competition and even surpass them in so many sectors of the economy that they have found unfathomable. Hence the hate. Yet they will turn round to say the Igbos are hateful whereas the Igbos are working hard day and night recording successes on a daily.

I will advise them to learn from the Igbos their dogged spirit in entreneuship and business and be busy for the good of everybody.

This is the only retired General and former Head of State that is a perfect gentleman.

His continuous intervention in ensuring our democratic dispensation works and matures cannot be underestimated.

Let God continue to guard, protect, and heal him for the good of this country, Nigeria.

Investment / Which Is Africa's New Top Investment Destination? by KADASE: 3:58pm On Mar 18, 2016
The difficult patch that Nigeria, the largest economy in Africa, is going through does not seem to be abating.

According to a new Nielsen report (pdf) which provides a ranking of business prospects for leading markets in Sub Saharan Africa, Nigeria is no longer the top investor destination on the continent. In its place, Cote d’Ivoire has risen to the top of the rankings.

Buoyed by a fast growing economy and a lengthy period of political stability highlighted by successful elections last year, Cote d’Ivoire is now regarded as a prime destination for investment in Africa. Although, that status could now be affected following a recent attack by Al Qaeda in the Islamic Mahgreb (AQIM)

Having been ranked as the top investor destination at the start of 2015, Nigeria has now fallen to fourth on the rankings. The ominous slide fits the narrative of Nigeria’s slowing economic growth amid a global slump in commodity prices. Oil in particular, Nigeria’s main export and revenue source, has been badly hit.

According to the research firm, Nigeria’s slide was “driven primarily by deteriorating macro-economic indicators”. It also adds that “consumer indicators and overall confidence levels” have also dipped. A recent Capital Importation report (pdf) by the Nigeria Bureau of Statistics confirms this. Last year, Nigeria’s recorded total inflow of capital into the economy stood at $9.6 billion —a 53% drop from the previous year and the lowest recorded total since 2011.

While incidental economic factors have largely contributed to Nigeria’s floundering economy, the country’s government has also come in for criticism for not managing the crisis effectively. President Buhari’s handling of the economy has been questioned with the Central Bank of Nigeria instituting strict monetary controls in response to commodity prices and a currency slide. These controls, which inevitably strained citizens and hardly had the desired effect, have been described as unorthodox.

As Buhari closes in on his first year in office, many Nigerians will be hoping that in his second year, the focus will be on triggering an economic rebound in Africa’s biggest economy following slowed growth.

i just got this...

Thank you for your interest in joining the Stanbic IBTC team.

We are pleased to inform you that you were successful at the recruitment interview and as a result, we have stored your details in our database to enable us contact you as soon as there is a vacant role that suits your profile and will contact you when this becomes available.

In need of any clarifications, please do not hesitate to contact us via email.

Best regards

Resourcing Unit

Sincerely I do not understand Stanbic's recruitment process. There are no vacancies and you are conducting tests and interviews and for the applicants to wait for months for opening before they will be employed. And they think that all those that did the tests, interviews and medicals will keep on waiting. No wonder they are this slow maybe as a delay tactic for an opening to suffice. Those getting offers here are mainly NFTEs.

my mom told me they were in the news about a particular problem me no sabi at all, she just implied that it might be it, as for me I don't watch news I only browse and it hasn't made FP on nairaland so dunno let us keep been hopeful

It was alleged that Stanbic Nigeria asked Stanbic South Africa to post some funds into their P & L to boost their position. Some shareholders discovered and reported them to Securities and Exchange Commission, CBN, Financial Reporting Council etc. Investigations are still on going. As a result SEC suspended their rights issue.

Though Stanbic Nigeria has denied doing such but FRC said their shareholders have a case. It is really an issue because they need proceeds from the right issue to do business and pay our salaries, if recruited.

This stanbics silence is killing me seriously. Ever since i did interview over 2wks ago not one response ever since. Nawao. Any others here who havent heard a single word ever since their interview/excochat because it seems like im the only one here who hasnt been contacted at all since my interview. Besides, i did mine on 14th august. My contact person is telling me that the recruitment is still ongoing.

Guy make up your mind to wait for a minimum of two months as business banker requires CBN verification and approval and this takes a minimum of six weeks to get. In addition this recruitment is done at the regional/zonal level and in batches too. You may have to wait for other business bankers that will do their interview this month for all of you to move to the next level together subject to a certain number. That is why Lagos applicants seem to be moving faster than those in other regions because of the huge number that passes the assessment and interview.

I am not discouraging you but this is the reality. Your prayers can change your situation and process.

Guys just read that STANBIC posted a pre tax loss of 53 percent and a 16 percent increase in operating expenses. In their just released Half year financial statement This news dnt sound good for us prospective recruits. Companies would rather downsize than embark on massive recruitment with such results. I pray d results dnt hamper our chances. I will also advise dat we should be realistic in our expectations henceforth.

Though I have not seen the report and that of last year for comparison, I believe we have every reason to be positive as they will need people to generate new businesses to turn around the situation. Analysis of the trend may have shown the management that the fortunes of the bank is nosediving and there is urgent need to reverse same. Afterall they have a good brand to capitalize on and other sister companies of the group are leaders in their respective sectors. No wonder they are particular about Business and Personal bankers. There is even a new advert for Business and Personal Bankers of between 2-5 years banking experience. And when these businesses are generated they will need enquiries officers, asset custodians and Head, Service Support etc to attend to them.

In effect, let's all be positive as this recruitment may be a strategic plan by the bank to turn around the fortunes of the bank.

Its not only CBN clearance that keeps people waiting though its usually a very long process. Other factors may be responsible. You may be waiting for others in your category to reach your stage then you move to the next one in a batch. Have you taken your medical test?

No I have not.
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Stanbic IBTC Is Currently Recruiting by KADASE: 10:37am On Jul 03, 2015
18wheeler:

Yes it can take that long. Mine is a case study.
18wheeler:

The CBN clearance should be the thing keeping you. I waited over 2months for that. Just relax, you are in already.

@18wheeler
In one of your posts on this thread, you stated that as a result of the long time for CBN clearance that stanbic now start the clearance immediately after an applicant passes the test and no longer after medicals. Please clarify.

I did my interview/exco chat in Lagos on 14th of May, that is exactly seven (7) weeks now and since then I have not been communicated as to the status of the interview. I applied and was interviewed as a business banker. I am an experienced banker with about 10 years. Is my case awaiting CBN clearance before I will be called for medicals or something else that I need to know?

Let's keep hope alive there is light at the end of the tunnel. Some people did their medicals today and some scheduled for Tue, wed. In Kaduna and Abuja respectively.

Thanks so much for this encouraging post/update. Please continually update us as to the latest happenings to keep our spirits high while we wait on them.

Meanwhile, where has 18wheeler gone to? He has been too quiet for so long a time. For those who has access to him, please let him know that we are missing his positive views about this recruitment which has been nudging us on in spite of the long process. And we need his presence now more than ever as we edge closer to the finish line.

Great. Congratulation. Success is yours. I will mail them as adviced. Thank you for your response.

Was it two interviews u did that day? I.e interview and chat or just 1?

It was one interview as stated in the invite - interview/exco chat. From the look on his face, I suspect that one out of the three male interviewers might be an executive mgt staff but I could not get him name during his introduction.

How did it go? Any news for us?
I am yet to hear from them.

It was very interesting. We were 18 business bankers from across the country on that day. I have not heard anything nor receive any mail to that effect for close to two weeks now but I am very confident of scaling through.

You can send a mail to PBBresourcing stating that you took the test since 18th of April and that you want to find out if you were successful. It could help.
