Agriculture / Things You Need To Know Before Start Oil Palm Farming In Nigeria by Karbswell(m): 3:25am On Oct 29 |
THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE STARTING OIL PALM PLANTATION BY KKFARMS Knowing quite well that oil palm plantation is a long term project that will not yield any returns during the first and perhaps in the third year of it's establishment which is characterized by huge financial investment and labour in the case of large plantation .As a farmer you need to ask yourself why you want to invest in a long term perennial crop like oil palm plantation .If the reason is to make immediate return then oil palm plantation is not for you . We have seen cases of farmers and cooperate organisation that we set up oil palm plantation for but abandoned it during the second and third year thereby rendering the project unproductive and lost of investment .Asian countries who came to Nigeria in 60th and 70th to obtain our local seeds dura and pisifera which they improved the quality to produce the hybrid seeds have never relent in their efforts to improve the standard of their farm management and setting up more oil palm plantation which to day makes them the largest producer and net exporter of refined palm oil . You have to also know that in oil palm farming we have two grades of tenera seedlings available for planting which are F1 seedlings and F2 seedlings. If you are working to set up a commercial oil palm farm the only grade of seedlings you plant is tenera F1 which is referred to as the first generation of seed obtained primarily from the cross breed of two distinc parent plant called dura and pisifera .The planting of F1 seedlings coupled with good agronomic practice for 3 to 4 years is what can only produce yield that covers your farm expenses and give you return on investment upon harvest year in year out .The F1 seedlings for your peace of mind can be obtained direct from NIFOR though at a very higher cost or can as well be bought from any renowned company or individual with track records of producing F1 seedlings in Nigeria .We also have individual farmers who procure sprouted nut from NIFOR that you can buy from them but make sure they show you an invoice from NIFOR to prove to you that they procure their sprouted but from NIFOR .Please take of this .It is also pertinent to note that NIFOR have increased the price of their sprouted nut this year from from 200 naira to 500 naira per sprout and the implication of this is that you will not get to buy F1 tenera for less than 1000 or 1200 naira next year from individual farmers who nurses F1 seedlings and if you are buying direct from NIFOR it may cost you more than 3,000 per seedling .We must also admit that there are private owned companies in Nigeria that also produced F1 tenera and sell at a price lesser than NIFOR such as PRESCO AND OKOMU GB etc .Till date I do not know why NIFOR as a government owned institution cannot subsidised price of their F1 seedling thereby leaving the average Nigeria farmer with no choice but to plant F2 seedlings which in most cases may yield lesser oil and some of the plant may turn steril. In simple language F2 seedlings is second generation of seed which is harvested from existing Tenera farm which nursed and replanted .Their productivity is usually low when compared to F1 seedlings.Unless we are planting the best grade of tenera F1 I am sorry to say we cannot compete with other countries like Indonesia and Malaysia who are the largest producer of palm oil in the world .Do you even know most supergene we plant in Nigeria are F2 because very few people import F1 super gene ? LETS LOOK AT WHAT CATEGORY OF PEOPLE CAN CULTIVATE OIL PALM PLANTATION The category of people that can cultivate oil palm tree are people that have farmlands at the rural side .having farmland either purchased or inherited will give you a leverage to grow oil palm tree but that is not enough .Many farmers or would- be- farmers from the cities always assumed that once you have hectares of farmland and funds you can go into oil palm farming .For you to become successful in oil palm farming you need to have patience, perseverance and most importantly you have to be very hardworking if not you will be forced to abandoned the plantation project half way .It is very hard to loose money growing oil palm tree but the aspect of waiting for 3 to 4 years to start making returns on investment is where many farmers and investors failed .There are many successful and productive oil palm plantation and there are still many failed and unproductive oil palm plantation in Nigeria ,what differentiate the two is not lack of funds but lack of patience that one need to endure before the plant start fruiting . If you have patiently read this post ,you should know by now whether you are worthy to start an oil palm plantation or not .Agriculture is time bound and oil palm farming is a game of patience and hard work .You do not necessarily need to start with 10 acres ,you can start even with few acres or plots ,Learn to start small and grow big and you can be rest assured that oil palm farming will reward you by providing you with sustainable wealth that you and your children can always depend on . Do you know that 50% of palm oil and vegetable oil we are still consuming in Nigeria is obtained from the local palm trees planted in the early 70th by our great grand parent and the families that owns them are still profiting from them ? .What's now delaying you from establishing this type of project that can sustain you and your family within the next few years ? OUR SERVICES INCLUDE # Oil palm plantation set up and management #sales of farmland at the rate of 250k per acre within ASA LG of kwara state # sales of improved oil palm seedlings # farm development services and general consultation . Agriculture / How Oil Palm Tree Can Enrich You As A Nigerian Farmer by Karbswell(m): 4:54pm On Oct 18 |
When it comes to agricultural productivity ,oil palm tree remain the most productive crop plants and when you compare it to other oil producing plants it still top the list of the most oil yielding plants .infact it remains the only tree that can yield two different type of oil from the same fruits all year round which are fresh palm oil FPO and palm kernel oil PKO. Except you are doing something wrong at the farm or let me jokingly say your village people are against your success you can hardly loose money in oil palm farming .you have variety of products( palm oil ,palm kernel oil ,palm kernel cake) to produce and sell from the single plants hence it is only mismanagement on the side of the farmer that can lead to loss of investment in oil palm farming . Within 3 to 4 years a well mentained single tenera oil palm tree can bear 8 fruits bunches which can yield between 15 to 20 litres of palm oil and total of 16 bunches of fruits annually under GOOD AGRONOMIC PRACTICE .therefore if you have 60 productive oil palm tree on an acre you can estimate the litres of oil you will obtained annually .whatever yield you obtained within the plant early years of fruition will increase in subsequent years . Agriculture is not a rocket science ,it requires having the basic knowledge of what to do ,how to do it and when to do it and if all these are strictly adhere to your oil palm tree will reward you year in year out . With the level of hardship this economy is facing we need to redirect our focus to producing cash crops which we can sell both locally and internationally so as we can earn more money to reduce the negative effect of inflation we are currently facing . If you have taken a decision to set up your oil palm plantation you can reach out to kkfarms for a business proposal that will guide you on how to successfully establish your oil palm plantation and provide you with basic cost of every farm operation from year 1 to year 3 .Do not forget we also have viable seedlings available for sale to all farmers for this year's farming season 07062053560 1 Like

Agriculture / Fertilizer Application In Oil Palm Farming And It's Effect On Annual Yield By Kk by Karbswell(m): 2:06pm On Oct 16 |
FERTILIZER APPLICATION IN OIL PALM FARMING AND IT'S EFFECT ON ANNUAL YIELD BY KKFARMS Prepared by ABDULKARIM KABIR AYINDE KKFARMS 07062053560 Oil palm tree is an heavy feeder plant that require balance ratio of the major soil nutrient such as nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium and also minor nutrient such as boron and magnesium for maximum fruits production.Oil palm tree can still bear fruits provided there is adequate rainfall and weeding but the farmer that is business oriented and have great focus to increase annual yield will understand that fertiliser application at different stages of the plants development is critical to increasing annual palm fruits yield which in turns increase profitability . This article will also focus on types of fertilizer, mode of application, period of application and stages of fertilizer application in oil palm farming . Year 0 - 1 ( NURSERY STAGE ) At this stage the plants ( sprouted nut )are planted in polythene nylon and they require very little amount of fertilizer for root development which leads to rapid growth at the nursery .Too much of fertiliser most especially inorganic at this stage could kill the plant and the farmer must be careful to apply the fertiliser at 15 gram per seedling and 2 inches away from the young seedling .this should be done 2 month after germination and to be repeated every 30 days for the next 8 months or 1 year at the nursery . NPK 15:15:15 or 20:10:10 is recommended at this stage Year 1 - 4 ( VEGETATIVE GROWTH STAGE) Year 1 to 4 the palm seedlings are transplanted to the main farm and during this period they undergo vegetative growth .During these period the palm tree produce no fruits till year 3 and as a result nitrogen is required to boost vegetative growth of the plants hence the farmer should focus on applying Urea since it is 100% nitrogen only or fertiliser with higher amount of nitrogen like NPK 20:10:10. this is apply twice in a year at the beginning of the raining season between May/ June and towards the end of rain season around September/ October at 150 to 200 gram per plant .The farmer must apply it 5 inches or 1ft away from the base of the plant depending on size of the plant .Mistake must not be made to apply it direct to the plants so not to burn the young plant which could lead to death .The farmer must understand that application of fertiliser during the vegetative growth stage is done to enhance the production of more green leaves / palm fronds and also to accelerate the growth of the plants to produce fruits within the benchmark period of 3 to 4 years old .A good sign of palm tree well fertilize will show very green color while lack of it will show yellowish color . Year 4 and above ( FRUIT PRODUCTION STAGE ) This is the stage the oil palm trees start to bear flowers to produce fruits and inorder to attain maximum fruits yield the farmer must increase fertiliser application per tree .Our farmers in Nigeria usually abandoned application of fertiliser to the their palm trees since they know the palm tree will produce fruits naturally but in contrast the yield are usually low when fertiliser are not being applied annually at this stage .Countries like Indonesia and Malaysia who with the former being the largest producer of oil palm have already develop a reliable fertilization programme on their oil palm plantation and this is even one of the major reasons why their annual palm oil production is higher than what we produce in Nigeria and other African countries . The annual fertiliser requirement per flowering tree is between 800 gram to 1kg of NPK 15:15:15 which would be split into two and applied at the beginning of the rain season around May/june and towards the end of rain season in September and October in anticipation of commercial harvest which commence from January to June every year . The palm tree also require the annual application of muriate of potash to boost root development which aids fruit production and increase fruits oil content . Agriculture / 4 Critical Reasons Why Oil Palm Tree Will Not Bear Fruits At Full Maturity by Karbswell(m): 6:58pm On Sep 24 |
4 CRITICAL REASONS WHY OIL PALM TREE WILL NOT BEAR FRUITS AT FULL MATURITY If you are an oil palm farmer with a plantation of oil palm tree with 20% to 30% or more of the tree failure to bear fruits at age 4 and above then this article is for you and this article should resonate well with you so as to solve many problems related to fruits production in your oil palm plantation .Practically there are solutions to 3 of the 4 reasons why oil palm tree will not near fruits at full maturity but the 4th reason as no solution but to eradicate the palm tree and replace it with a viable F1 seedlings that is capable of bearing fruits within 3 to 4 years under good farm management . LACK OF PROPER SOIL FERTILIZATION Oil palm tree is an heavy feeder plant that require an adequate amount of soil nutrient to bear enough fruits amd the lack of it the yield will go down .within year 1 to 3 the palm tree under goes a vegetative growth which exhausted all the soil nutrient hence by year 3 to 4 when first fruits production is supposed to start the palm tree is left with no soil nutrient makes it impossible for fruit production to take place and the farmer becomes frustrated . The solution to the problem is to amend the soil by applying both organic and inorganic fertiliser. The best way to apply organic manure such as cow waste or poultry waste is to dig some feet away around the base of each palm tree and apply the manure and then after some month during rain season the farmer can apply inorganic fertiliser.this process will ensure that enough soil nutrient is available to meet the palm tree nutrient need so as to bear fruits .Application of fertiliser like NPK should be a yearly routine programme if the farmer wants get good yield from their plantation .From my years of experience I can tell you with confidence that majority of oil small scale oil palm farmer do not apply fertiliser to their palm tree ,they leave it for nature to do the work and this leads to low annual yield of palm tree in Nigeria .see how to apply manure the picture attached below . INADEQUATE INSECT POLLINATING AGENT lack of this insect such as weevils and honey bees that are capable of cross pollinating the oil palm tree through their biological activities of moving the pollen grain from the male flower plant to the female stigma which later bears fruits ,the lack of this insect could lead to poor fruit production of oil palm tree .However in our regions here in oil palm growing regions this insect are available in the right amount to cross pollinate oil palm tree hence the majority of problems related to poor or lack of fruit production could be traced to other factors which are also explained in this article .During flowering stage of oil palm tree the farmer should avoid spraying insecticide that are capable of destroying this beneficial insect that aid Pollination. It is advisable not to spray any thing related to insecticide during the flowering stage in the oil palm plantation INSUFFICIENT RAINFALL ,PROLONG DROUGHT AND HEAT This factors could also lead to poor fruits production or lack of it .When an oil palm tree experience prolonged drought coupled by extreme heat then the fruits production for that year will be very low and harvest will decline .This is why Oil palm tree in the Western part of Nigeria will bear more fruits and increase yield than oil palm tree planted in the northern part of Nigeria .Another challenges that a farmer could encounter when there is no sufficient rainfall is flower abortion which leads to low yield .the entire part of western Nigeria and some states in the North central can boost oil adequate amount of annual rainfall that support the profitable oil palm farming in Nigeria . PLANTING OF INFERIOR SEEDLINGS Planting of inferior seedlings such as second filial generation of seed called F2 harvested from an hybrid oil palm farm is the major reason why 70 percent of oil palm farms experience low yield Nigeria .Buying cheap seedlings from unreliable source with no prove of invoice or receipt from seed company as lead to many oil palm farmer losing their investment in oil palm farming .Most of these seedlings after 4 years of hardwork and investment will turn out to become male palm tree that bears only male flower hence no fruits can be harvest from the tree leading to loss of investment .There is no solution to help an unproductive oil palm tree of more than 5 years old to bear fruits .The farmer will have to uproot them and replant F1 seedling that is capable of bearing fruits within year 3 to 4 after planting and follow up with adequate soil fertilisation . In conclusion ,the hybridization process of cross breeding PISIFERA which is a male shelless oil palm with DURA which is female thick shelled oil palm produces an heterozygote popularly called HYBRID TENERA F1 .Therefore if a farmer picks a seed kernel from a tenera palm fruits for the purpose of planting is called F2 which is not productive for commercial oil palm farming and this as been the major reason why many farms belonging to small scale farmers are not productive thereby loosing their investment .Such farms tend to produce more of Male palm trees instead of female palm trees that produce palm fruits . Our commitment is to ensure that all oil palm farmer in Nigeria succeed and for more enquiries about our services call or what's app KKFARMS on 07062053560

Agriculture / Why I Recommend You Should Invest In Planting Oil Palm Tree by Karbswell(m): 1:21pm On Jul 25 |
Are you an agric enthusiast and you are still deliberating on which aspect of agric you should invest your money Let me help you to identify oil palm plantation as one of the most lucrative venture in agric with very low risk factor that can create a generational wealth for you as private business owner and cooperate organisations . Please note this require slot of patience and 3 to 4 years of diligent work and spending before it starts yielding returns on investment for many decades and as long as the farm is being mentained . It will also require factory set up to process fresh fruits bunches harvested from the farm into palm oil and palm kernel oil which the company can sell both locally and internationally . Oil palm farming as been the bedrock of our economy for many years back but the discovery of crude oil as made us to neglect this farming business hence making Nigeria a mono economy nation .Our neglect of this venture as brought us where we are today and the implication is steering us at the face .it is now time to go back to the farm to claim our position as major producer and exporter of refined palm oil and palm kernel oil . WHY OIL PALM PLANTATION ? The risk factor involve is very low when compared to other aspect of agriculture and even other businesses in the cities .it is a very rugged plants that can survive for many decades .the only identifiable risk associated with an oil palm plantation is fire outbreak .to prevent this one will need to remove weed on the entire plantation as soon the rainfall ends for the year . It require one time planting .the farmer does not need to till the land Every year to replant an oil palm tree except he wants to expand .cultivating short term crops require the farmer to till the land Every year but the case is different when it comes to oil palm plantation .This enable the farmer to save alot of money which goes to mentainance of the plantation till it mature for harvesting with 3 to 4 years . It requires little labour to mentain the farm .After the plantation as been set up the farmer require labourers to weed the farm 3 times or 4 times in a year depending on the volume of rainfall . Creation of generational wealth .having an oil palm plantation is like printing your own money year in year out .An oil palm plantation well mentained could create a generation wealth for the farmer and his family for many decades . It is one of the easiest crop to grow and refine into palm oil .This if diligently done can improve our standard of living in the long run and earn this country foreign exchange . As cost of living increases and inflation continue to push up the prices of commodity ,the price of palm oil and palm kernel oil follow similar trend .This provide a form of reward system to the farmer and give him a leverage to meet his family demand and responsibility as the economy bites hard . Proven as retirement package .during your active days of work and service year when you are able to use some proceed of your work to purchase farmland and set up few acres of oil palm plantation this could serve as a retirement package for you and a sustainable way to live a good life after retirement . A better way of diversification .Cooperate organisation and private business owner could also own an oil palm plantation as a means of diversification .Companies that are currently struggling due to increase in cost of production and companies that are striving and doing well can also diversify into oil palm plantation and within 3 to 4 years it can create another stream of income to the company or private business owner . Mentaining an oil palm plantation in the rural side is relatively cheaper than running a company which comes with payment of salaries, taxes, royalties, electricity and other unforeseen contingencies . Our services include Sales of farmland Sales of hybrid oil palm seedlings Farm set up and general consultation . If you find this write up and project worthy of investing on you can contact kkfarms on 07062053560.

Agriculture / Oil Palm Tree Is One Of The Most Rewarding Cash Crop By Kkfarms Agro Allied Conc by Karbswell(m): 9:07am On Jun 27 |
OIL PALM TREE IS ONE OF THE MOST REWARDING CASH CROP BY KKFARMS AGRO ALLIED CONCEPT As a Nigerian farmer we need to embrace smart way of farming on small space to improve our crop yield .Let's use oil palm tree as a case study . If you can take your time to plant 10 oil palm tree on a plot of farmland, provided the seeds are improved hybrid tenera or Supergene and you are able to adopt a good fertilization programme for the next 3 to 5 years ,your average oil yield expectation should be between 250 to 300 litres of fresh palm oil per plot .this is excluding palm kernel oil and palm kernel cake derivative from processing the fruits .Adapalm plantation ,JB oil palm plantation and okomu are one of the few commercial oil palm farms in Nigeria with their plantation producing more than 1800 litres per acre annually ,this is due to the superior seeds they planted and the age of their palm trees .what is stopping you from embarking on this journey with your 1 or 2 acres lying idle in the village ? An acre of land is between 6 to 8 plots depending on the area you farmland is located .if 10 mature oil palm trees can give you 300 litres of oil, that means on an acre where you can plant minimum of 60 plants and maximum of 70 plants your palm oil yield expectation should be between 1,800 litres to 2400 litres per acre and if sold at the rate of 1000 naira current price per litre then your revenue after sales would be 1.8million to 2.4million from an acre .In countries like Malaysia, Indonesia and other Asian countries where they plant superior hybrid oil palm trees like SUPERGENE specie in Malaysia and YANGAMBI specie in Indonesia ,their average oil palm yield is between 5000 to 6000 litres .We do not mention other product that comes with processing oil palm such as palm kernel oil and palm kernel cake which is used as animal feeds. If this countries are creating jobs and adding value to their lives through oil palm farming why can't achieve the same in Nigeria where they pick their first tenera seed from in the 1960th ? As interesting the above analysis may sound oil palm farming is not for an inpatient farmer and it is not a get rich quick farming scheme .We are talking about a business that you will work and invest money for 3 years without generating any income but once it get to stage of oil production within the 3rd and 4th year it will reward you in multiple folds with valuable products such as palm oil ,palm kernel oil and palm kernel cake which products demand is more than the supply and the trend Wil continue in the next 3 to 4 years if you decide to set up your own oil palm plantation .this product when processed you can continue to make returns on your investment for next 20 to 30 years .You really do not need to own 20 acres or 30 acres ,it takes just an acre of well managed oil palm tree to generate more than a million worth of oil products associate with oil palm tree . Do not forget that your success is majorly centred around the following factors ; Specie of oil palm tree you planted Your level of fertilization which is key to a productive oil palm tree . Regular weeding . You can reach out to NIFOR for your authentic oil palm tree sprouted nut or seedlings and you can contact us for the purchase of improved tenera seedlings which is readily available for sale from our nursery .Supergene oil palm seedlings is only available on pre-order We are also available to set up your plantation for this year 2024 and for general consultation . Agriculture / Feeding Your Mind With Business Opportunities Around Oil Palm Farming by Karbswell(m): 9:36am On Jun 16 |
FEEDING YOUR MIND WITH BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES AROUND OIL PALM FARMING As a farmer my job is to feed your minds with agribusiness and opportunities around oil palm plantation farming .From time immemorial oil palm farming as been one of the life transforming business people within the growing regions depend on as their primary source of livelihood and with the introduction of improve seedlings such as hybrid tenera, supergene, calix ,yangambi and other improved varieties oil palm farming as taking a new stage of development to transform not only private companies who invested in it but also economy of countries like Malaysia and other Asian countries who enjoy several months of rainfall through their 12 calendar months . Regions in Nigeria such as Southwest ,South South and Southeast and some part of North central states that experience more than 6 months of rainfall annually also have the Comparative advantage to cultivate this oil crop profitably due to favourable weather and vast hectares of fertile farmland these regions have in rural areas laying idle. In the face of this present economic hardship that be falls not only Nigeria as a nation but other African nations As a business oriented individuals, cooperate organization and even government entities can take up their chances to invest in cultivating Oil palm tree in hundreds or thousands of acres and this single act is capable of transforming the economy of this nation, cooperate organization and individuals if done the right way .To become a productive individuals or nation involves taking a bold step to do something different and to do something different as a lot to do with investing in businesses that have multiplier effect . Judicious investment in Oil palm tree farming on large scale will not only create job in the agric sector but also create jobs within the transportation sector and boost industrialization because there is no how one will invest in this business without needing transport and industrialization . Experience as thought us that with fertile soil and planting of an improved palm tree seedlings followed by good agronomic practice GAP a farmer is capable of obtaining fresh palm oil between 1000 to 1500 litres per acre within year 5 to 6 and if sold at the current market price of 1000 naira per litre that is a revenue of 1million to 1.5million naira annually excluding revenue that comes from sales of palm kernel and palm kernel cake which is highly demanded for within the livestock industry however harvest start within 3 to 4 years after planting .One of the good things about oil palm tree is that the oil yield annually tends to increase as the plant ages and it an established fact that among all the oily plant we have in the world oil palm tree is the most productive plant that yield oil higher than any other oil plant such as soybean, groundnut, coconut, sesame from an acre of land . Except somethings are not done the right way it is very hard to loose money or investment in oil palm farming because of the rugged nature of the tree crop and potential to yield more oil per acre . Our team have been working across several villages in southwest and north central to set up oil palm farm for people within and outside Nigeria .We are presently in Ijebu igbo establishing 17 acres oil plantation and Odeda LG in Ogun state setting up 14 acres .We are also working on another 25 acres plantation which is currently fruiting in Ibadan. We have a document that can guide you on the financial cost of managing the farm from point of planting to harvesting which we can provide to you . Pictures of our ongoing farm project are attached below for reference If this post excites you and you will like us to handle a similar project for you .you can contact KKFARMS via call or what's app on 07062053560

Agriculture / Why We Cannot Compare Cocoa Farming With Oil Palm Farming In Africa by Karbswell(m): 11:51am On Jun 05 |
I stand to be corrected the light weight of cocoa end product and the fact that it is high susceptible to diseases and insect makes cocoa farming a very risky cash crop farming .the recent increase in the market value of cocoa was due to the low yield experienced by farmers recently however we cannot abandoned cocoa farming in Africa because it is our agribusiness heritage and our pride and to the farmers that want to venture into cocoa farming be prepared to work on a reliable pest and disease fumigation regime and schedule .cocoa farming could have been more easier and profitable if the farmer can sell it with the pod while the off taker do the sun drying themselves but the farmer going through the stress of farming cocoa and now have to handle some part of the post harvest activities of sun drying is the reason why cocoa farming is very tedious .I will advise an average farmer to farm oil palm tree instead of cocoa because with oil palm tree you can sell the fruits without adding value and use the proceeds to start a mini processing factory after som years of selling fresh fruits .the case is different with cocoa .I can provide you with pictures of cocoa farms wasting away due to pest and diseases attack mostly black pod disease of cocoa is a major risk in cocoa farming .For cocoa farming to become sustainable in Africa our government should support the farmers by providing extension services that will provide input to farmers to guide the farms against pest and diseases which as destroy most cocoa farms and the government most also partner with private organization to build cocoa processing factories that will off take harvested cocoa pod not the dry seed from farmers then the government and the private companies can process and export to earn more foreign exchange 07062053560

Agriculture / My Recommendation To Existing Oil Palm Tree Farm Owners And Managers by Karbswell(m): 9:22am On May 18 |
My recommendation to existing oil palm tree farm owners and managers The oil palm tree that are of 4 years old and above should be at their productive stage now .each of them should be producing between 10 to 12 fruits bunches yearly at year 4 to 5 and it will increase towards year 6 and above .at year 4 if the palms are not producing enough fruits then it could be as a result of two reasons ; Planting of inferior seedlings called F2 instead of F1 hybrid seedling .But I belief your palm seedling are F1 of NIFOR origin .we will still talk much about this . Lack of adequate soil fertilisation during the plant development in year 1 to 3 will cause low fruit production . Solution and reccomendation 1 we will source for poultry manure around the farm which would be applied at the base of each palm trees .we will later add inorganic fertiliser like NPK to fruiting palms and UREA to young palm seedling of less than 3 years old ...if done we have solve the problem of soil fertility on your farm.palm tree are heavy feeder plant so require more basic nutrient to produce bigger fruits . 2. Weed management .there are so much weeds on the farm which are competing with soil nutrient and sunlight with the palm trees .There are better ways management weeds on palm plantation.cutting of all tall grasses and shrubs by first week of May and waiting for another 4 weeks to spray glyphosate Herbicide such as Force Up which kills grasses to the root .Using cutlass to cut grasses and follow by herbicide will ensure that the farm is kept weed for a long time .this operation can be repeated twice in a year .For second time only herbicide can be used without engaging farm workers to cut weeds and shrub but we have to make sure the weeds are less than 1 meter height before spraying for the second time during rain season To prevent fire out break ,at the end of rain season around November ring weeding using hoe of all palm trees be carried out at 4 to 5 meters circumference of each palm and then use cutlass to cut all shrubs and tall grasses on the farm .If fire should enter the farm because of ring weeding it will not get to burn the palm trees . 3 .after clearing of the existing weeds in the farm pegging with sticks should be carried out at every point where palm trees are missing .the number of sticks used for pegging will determine the number of palm tree seedling we will buy to replant missing palm trees . 4 . Your farm manager should try to create friendship with okada men on the village who are indigene .they are capable of connecting him with farm workers within the village .the okada man that took us to farm as a link to farmers and he is ready to connect Tolase with them . If you find this interesting you can book a private session with to discuss the challenges you faced in your oil palm farm and you can also contract kkfarms to set up your plantation Contact 07062053560 1 Like

Nigeria as a country have been missing a lot of business opportunities in oil palm value chain for more than 20 years and according to the Central Bank of Nigeria, if Nigeria had maintained its market dominance in the palm oil industry, the country would have been earning approximately $20 billion annually from the cultivation and processing of palm oil as at.29 Jul 2022. It has the highest yield compared to other oil crops per hectare of land. Among major oilseed crops, oil palm accounts for the smallest percentage (5.5 per cent) of all the cultivated land for oils and fats globally, but produces the largest percentage (32 per cent) of total output. Agriculture / Oil Palm Can Be Productive In The Northern Part Of Nigeria Under Adequate Fertil by Karbswell(m): 1:49pm On Mar 23 |
Written by : Abdulkarim Kabir Ayinde ( KKFARMS ) March/ 23/ 2024 If you are a farmer based in northern part of Nigeria and you are still doubting if oil palm tree can be cultivated in your region I think is time you should doubt no more .Right now in Southern Kaduna and Nasarawa state two oil palm farmers are currently harvesting from their oil palm tree for the first time .Oil palm tree is a very rewarding cash crop that is able to adapt to climatic condition of many states in Nigeria including northern region .Provided your region can boast of 5 months of rainfall then you can also venture into oil palm farming . Farmers in the north that intend to go into oil palm plantation farming should note that oil palm tree is a heavy feeder plants i.e it requires large quantity of fertilizer to produce bigger fruits and yield higher oil 🪔 output .This is where the usage of animal manure such as cow and poultry waste come into utilization .it is necessary so as to mentain balance soil fertility ,Minimize soil erosion and control soil nutrient loss .The best way to apply this manure is through basal application during planting and ring form in subsequent months during rain season .you do not spread everything on the farmland .farmers based in the north who can afford irrigation of their oil palm tree during the dry season will achieve faster growth and bumper harvest however if you plant the tree at the inception of rainfall in your region and follow up with good farm management your palm tree will survive the next dry season without irrigation Oil palm tree is a very rewarding cash crop that gives not only palm oil but palm kernel oil and PKC which is used as animal feed and when you consider the multiple products that is derive from oil palm tree you will agree with me that it is very difficult to loose your money when you invest in this prestigious cash crop unlike short term crop that with very little mistake such as seizure in rainfall and mismanagement of crop plant you can loose all your investment .Oil palm tree is also offer advantage of farmland acquisition since it cannot be cultivated on borrowed land .hence you can use the crop to hold the value of your numerous farmland in the north and South while it continues to appreciate year in year out .For your FINANCIAL IMPLICATION of setting up oil palm tree and potential revenue after 3 years you can dm or call me for the documents As Published by Doris Dokua Sasu, Nov 9, 2023 Around 1.8 million metric tons of palm oil were expected to be consumed in Nigeria as of the 2021/2022 crop year. This represented a peak in consumption compared to the ten preceding years, indicating that the farm product is one of the major crops in the country with a growing domestic need. Most palm oil is for industrial purposes, while a smaller percentage is used by households.Meanwhile in 2018, 350,000 metric tons of palm oil were imported into Nigeria and the figure continue to increase towards 2022 and subsequent years . This information shows that there is need for every arable farmer either based in the South or Northern part of Nigeria to take active part in the cultivation of oil palm tree either as a cluster or individuals that has farmland that runs into hectares .This is the only way we can reduce importation of this valuable product ,strengthen our currency and creates jobs for our skilled and unskilled labour .If you plan to put your money where your mouth is you should look no other investment than oil palm plantation farming that is capable of sustainably creating a generational income and will outlived the farmer .Harvesting start within 3 to 4 years under good farm management and within that period and beyond the farmers start making returns on investment from his 3 years of struggle and investment . If this post excites you and you have a piece of farmland in the north to cultivate oil palm tree you can reach out to me via phone call or whatsapp on 07062053560 to plan your plantation set up and seedlings purchase .Do not forget that your success as oil palm farmer start from procurement of viable hybrid TENERA F1 SPECIE which now cost close to 1000 naira per seedlings .anything less than 800 naira stand the chance of being F2 which does yield and will not stand the test of time Picture 1 palm tree harvest for the first time from Southern Kaduna ( I do not have picture credit ) Picture 2 oil palm tree harvest from from Our Retson Tedheke farm in Gaate farm settlement in Nasarawa state .I do not have picture credit Picture 3 Oil palm tree harvest at our client farm in Ago Owu Osun state For your FINANCIAL IMPLICATION of setting up oil palm tree plantation and potential revenue projection ( proposal ) after 3 years you can dm or call me for the documents Call or Whatsapp 07062053560

A well managed oil palm plantation will make the farmer to become a producer of # Crude palm oil ( CPO) # ,palm kernel oil (PKO) # palm kernel cake (PKC) All this above listed product are obtainable if the farmer choose to invest in processing his fresh palm fruits rather than selling it raw .
