Phones / Re: Blackberry 10 Devices Home: Z10, Q10 Etc by KazaaUpload: 1:57am On Apr 07, 2013 |
Experienced my friends z10 yesterday. Surprisingly It has a nice user interface. I have been a big critic of all things BlackBerry over the last few years due to crappy experiences with BB7 and BB5 handsets ice owned but this was nice. I won't buy the z10 because I already have an iPhone 4S but might consider the Q10 when it is released so as to have the QWERTY keyboard |
Phones / Re: iPhone5 Or Samsung Galaxy S3: Which Is Better? by KazaaUpload: 1:35pm On Mar 29, 2013 |
Gbyte: My bros you've said it all. Me I love phones and have owned 4 Blackberry, the iphone 3G (from 2008), HTC 8x, galaxy s3 and iPhone 4S.....so I downed all platforms. All are good and it comes down to opinions. But one is limiting themselves by not doing there own research and just keep saying the same (iPhone has no memory card) etc etc. The beauty of the iPhone is that it's resell value holds more than any other. In most stores, the iphone 4 (a phone from THREE YEARS AGO) is still one of the top 5 selling handsets. Like you said that says it all. I love android cos it allows customization. But reality is 90% of people have no desire, or no time to be rooting their phones, sending music over Bluetooth to their friends and all of that. I will keep saying it, the iPhone remains the highest selling phone in the world, and their is a reason for that. Sleek design, best selection of apps (the newest apps ALWAYS come to iPhone first - Instagram, temple run, BBC, you name it), intuitive OS, awesome camera, built in iCloud, iTunes U education resources built in, etc). Most techies would prefer android and that's cool too. |

Congrats; you've shown tht you know how to Google. Why not test things for yourself instead of relying on just one tech site reporter. For that article you've published, there are ten others that will tell you that iOS is better than android, or Windows phone is better than BB, etc. I will say my own once again and that's it; - I choose iOS cos I want the est apps first, not to wait months - I want an OS that is stable, not one where I'm scared each time I download a freaking app - most of the best google apps I can already get on iOS without using android (Google Maps, Google voice, etc). It's. proven fact that Google makes more money from iOS than they do from android! - I love the smooth integration of FaceTime, iMessage, etc. - I am a researcher, and having iTunes U built in with several resources is massive for me iCloud works beautifully without any effort from me I can go on and on. I have a nexus 7 that runs android but it barely sees light of day. And like I said before, iPhone sales remain higher than Galaxy and the iPhone is still the single highest selling phone in the world, to this day even. So iFanboy or not, it's silly for anybody to say that all these people are just buying crap. Leopantro: Funny your use of words for this topic. Read this |

ewizard1: Android has MOST apps but not the BEST app. I challenge any android user to suggest just ONE decent app that came to android before coming to iPhone. I can't think of any. Viber, Temple Run, BBC, CNN; even whatsapp, Instagram, you name it. Its a known fact thag developers will always create an iphone app first, and if successful then move tp android. At worse, they will develop both together. Now for the sake of paying $1 a year for whatsapp, I would rather have the benefit of knowing tht my phone will get the next good app first. (And ps; most people would rather avoid the hassle of 'rooting' their phone just to save $1). |

The statistics tell us that anybody on here that says the iPhone is crap vs the Samsung, is in the minority, because despite everything, the iPhone 5 is still the biggest selling phone with just three models, despite the fact that Samsung are bringing out a new device like almost every week. My opinion why iPhone is better; - the biggest apps ALWAYS come to iPhone first. Check history and you will see - android is the most insecure OS there is today. Buggy and not secure. - iTunes still has largest media collection - easy to back up into the cloud with iCloud built in - if my iPhone breaks or I need ANY support whatsoever, I can walk into any Apple store in The world an it gets sorted (I appreciate that this doesn't happen in Naija tho) - video compression over email - updates to OS are quicker and more frequent - classier phone (glass, vs the plastic on the S3 and S4) - thinner and lighter. If I need a massive screen I will buy a tablet, not a phone - better speaker - iTunes U: free app with one of the largest collection of free education tools on the web These are just opinions, and are my opinions. But again, judging by sales alone most people still prefer te iPhone over The galaxy, even though galaxy is cheaper. That says something 1 Like |

Revolva: Jobs got all of his ideas from RIM? Really? One fact to bear in mind. When Apple first introduced the all-touch screen device (there were a few before then, but nothing that appealed to the mass market), RIM were busy for two years laughing and telling everybody that nobody will buy touchscreen. How now would you say Apple stole idea from RIM? The idea for 3rd party App Store, did that come from RIM? The software innovations, did those come from RIN? I think not 1 Like |

chucky234: Well I just checked the pre-order record for BB Z10 and Q10 but found that Americans and Europeans are responsible for 95% so far, that's to say RIM don't don't depends on the African market as we are made to believed because 90% of African BB users patronize used phones from the US/Canada or UK.That's because the ONLY countries that can order these phones are UK, Canada and UAE. By definition, Nigerian or African people purchasing cannot (yet) even show up in these statistics. Some people have bought these phones in Canada and UK but lets wait and see when the official statistics are released. I saw no long lines and queues like when galaxy s3 and iPhone were released, but maybe soon the sales might increase. I doubt it. |

chucky234: People can now see how far RIM have come when it come to quality smartphones,HTC is the only company that earn my respect after RIM because Samsung,LG and the rest borrow their current designs from HTC phones. Have you seen bb10 z10? That design is totally borrowed from an iPhone. So by your own logic, blackberry should now lose your respect also |

caukerzee: Haha...are those likes supposed to be some form of celebration by them BB users. This kind them get people wey know say BB beta pas iOS. LOL. And to you dude its either you are lying or you didnt know how to operate the iphone 4 or just a butthurt BB user trying to troll iOS. Theres absolutely nothing that curve 2 can do that iphone 4 cannot do twice better. Iphone 4 is far more superior. My friend no mind him, nairaland is the only forum in the world (except for crackberry.com) where he can type something like that and not get laughed out of the building. What surprises me is that how many people in Naija have an iPhone (or indeed some android devices) and don't fully utilize them. My cousin had an iPhone 4S and didn't even have an iTunes account! I was just shocked, an iPhone is useless unless you are utilizing the features that come with it. |

Symphony007: i really haope it does well beause it is a make or break moment for that company but i don't just see it becoming too succesful, i foresee a i phone 5 type meltdown. High initial sale and a sharp unexpected decline.Even the "sharp decline" in the iPhone 5 is overstated. It is still the 2nd highest selling handset, it's just that in the last 2 months it didn't sell as high as the financial markets expected. The level is set very high for Apple, as the iPhone is the highest selling phone worldwide. The z10, Blackberry claim has sold well, but do t forget stocks were very very limited. Lets wait until some actual numbers are released for the z10. |

I bought the HTC 8x Windows Phone last month and use it as my 2nd phone after my IPhone 4S. Ditched my old BB curve. Its nice sha. Lack apps so I have to rely on iPhone for that. It's cool because you get the best Microsoft Office experience (excel, word, PowerPoint) experience than any other phones. The handset itself has awesome sounds especially if you use good quality headphones. Browsing isn't as good as on iPhone and it lacks a lot of google features. The live tiles are awesome, the UI very slick. It's evolving. The Windows Phone 8 system is miles ahead of BB7, and probably better than what I've seen of BB10, but lacks important apps that I need in m day such as Google maps |

grandstar: More android users but that's partly because there are only three iPhone models on sale today (4, 4s, 5) vs probably more than 50 androids. So it's normal that the numbers using like those 50 phones all made by different manufacturers(like Samsung, Sony, Motorola, HTC etc) should be more than the numbers using just 3 handsets made by one company (Apple) |

Lol very funny points. It's an expression of passion.....one is having a desire and passion to be intimate with God at that moment. One isn't "faking" it, and also one isn't saying that they gotta do like that in order to have the rather answered. Each to his own. But when the pastor tries to force you to do that way, I'm like "why"? In any case, I prefer to sit down and pray properly and orderly to God. od business is serious business and I prefer not to be screaming uncontrollably at him and then suddenly randomly stop when MOG decides to move on to next point. |

Currently use both a 4s and galaxy s3 pebble blue, so can offer my balanced view of the benefits of both iPhone 4S - easy to navigate around the interface and system - very clean and responsive. Everything is intuitive - amazing camera quality - forward usability. Apple has a track record of supporting older devices with new OS upgrades; very important - access to iTunes; the best media site for music ever! - iTunesU: for anybody that is keen on advancing their knowledge base with - FaceTime video chat with other iPad and iPhone users (quality is far better than Skype or any similar) Galaxy s3 - Near field communication: makes Bluetooth seem so old skool - google wallet (but don't think of using this if ur still in Naija) - large screen: amazing for watching video and tv shows - ability to get a few more free apps than iPhone Overall the galaxy is better but it feels a bit clunkier. Whenever I need to do something online, my instinct is still to reach for my iphone first of all. New apps tend to come out on the iPhone first. The 4a has an amazing camera. Galaxy does a few cooler things than the 4s. Of you want something that gives amazing range of cool free apps and is simple to use then choose 4s. If you want more advanced features that you can customize then go for galaxy. But they are both really amazing and blow most other phones out of the window. |

Phones / Re: Blackberry On List Of 10 Brands Likely To Disappear In 2013 by KazaaUpload: 7:33pm On Dec 29, 2012 |
jedisco: Bros I agree with your logic but you missing the big picture. Although there are probably no statistics on how many of the phones sold in Nigeria are 2nd hand, anecdotal evidence suggests it is a large number. You don't have to be a genius to notice this, and it's why terms such as "UK used" are such a big part of our language. But more importantly though, is that even if all of the Nigerian and African sales were brand new, RIM would still be struggling. Why? Well, most of the newer BB phones sold in Africa are low or mid range at best.....and RIM make very low profit margins on selling those. It's okay for the like of Hauwei and some other android makers to sell dirt-cheap phones in developing markets, because these are low-cost companies that produced cheap phones and sell many of them at low margins, they make up for the low margin with high volumes, long term, that wouldn't really work for RIM cos that's not their business model; they have a high cost base. Also, many of the Android manufacturers benefit from having Google (android) behind them, and Nokia now has Windows. It makes logical sense to use a BlackBerry in Naija and I agree with yo about the inferiority complex. If you can browse for N1500 per month unlimited, then that's a no-brainier. But RIM would NEVER be able to compete with the bug boys if it continues to struggle in developed markets, where the bigger profits are to be made. Samsung has top end phones (galaxy s3, Note etc), mid range and low end.....phones for each persons income level. It works for then. Apple Iphone only targets the top end and still it sells so many. Where does RIM fit in? He Playbook was budgeted to sell at $500 and now they are selling online for less than $100. Do you think that's sustainable, even if the whole of Nigeria snapped them up? 1 Like |

caukerzee: Best phone ECONOMICALLY IN A THIRD WORLD COUNTRY LIKE NIGERIA. And thats as far as it goes. In developed countries where you have wi fi hotspots at every nuke and cranny, you would be ashamed to carry that black brick you call a phone around. They would just laugh at your level of porverty. Apart from the fact that you pay less for internet on a BB, your brick is pretty much average in the sight of an iOS or andriodOS powered device. Please stop embarassing yourself here. As I;ve said before it is cost-smart for Nigeria due to BIS subscription. It is foolish however to suggest that it is BETTER than iPhone or Android etc. Owners of Android or iPhone can argue all day about which is better (I personally love my iPhone) but please dont even let BB enter debate. I was in the US over the weekend and it took me four days to see a single person using a BB (and that was in church). Unstylish, unfunctionable, unreliable and they can't do much. |

caukerzee: iOS users, why waste your breathe sef? Theres simply no argument here. Its obvious the OP just copied this advert of the phone & pasted it here and gave it a sensless topic. The Op has never even used the OS before. How can you copared the two OSs when you dont even know all the cons of the BB10? You call an OS better than another when you havent even laid your hands on it or seen it physically? How about its shortcommings? You cant tell me its a perfect phone. How many of the above listed features even make sense? BB fanboys are trying too hard these days......Abeg next please. Abi! never so much as touched an iPhone, hasn't even seen a video demo of BB 10 and yet concludes that it is better than iPhone iOS. |

Too little, too late. Would have missed the crucial Christmas period (when 33% of phones are purchased), and everybody would have already bought a Windows Phone, iPhone, or a phone that runs android. The phone will probably sell in Nigeria, Kenya etc, people will get excited about it there - but can't see it selling enough in Europe, US and the developed world. |
Phones / Re: Blackberry Phone Becomes A Source Of Shame For Users by KazaaUpload: 1:13am On Oct 17, 2012 |
dowjones: the replies on this thread can only prove that Nigeria is 3rd world. See blackberry supporters. Bros I can't agree with you more than you've put it. I went to the blackberry app world last week and it was like entering a time warp back to 2008. There are apps to smoothly run a business from your iPhone and the scary things is, most people only use 20% of its power. Same applies to Android phones also. Bb sales are less than 5% in the US; I know that in the UK it can't be much more also. Basically peop,e stop using them for a reason. The only people still using them tend to be newly arrived foreigner s who can't get credit and want a basic cheap phone, or business people cos their companies give them out free as work phone (but they still all have their own personal phone). |
Phones / Re: Blackberry Posts $235m Quarterly Loss by KazaaUpload: 12:00am On Sep 28, 2012 |
Yes another quarter loss. Basically, the only place the phone is selling now is in Africa and a few countries in Asia. On Tuesday a news story even said that Nigeria and South Africa are its main target markets now and that 50% of smartphones in Nigeria are Blackberry. While that is great news for Nigerians it isn't good news for RIM because these tend to be cheap handsets, pre-pay and not those locked into contracts like in developed world....to survive they need strong sales in the developed markets where profit margins are higher. Before the Naija BB fanboys jump on here saying with their love for BB, remember that These are hard facts, no matter how much you love your BlackBerry the simple fact is that the rest of the world doesn't any more. In the USA, Blackberry market share is now 5%, with the iPhone in the lead followed by Samsung. Similar story in the UK and Europe. That is the reason why blackberry is in such a terrible position. Blackberry added 2million subscribers in the last 3 months. And most of those as I said were cheaper phones in developed world. Apple sold 5million iPhones in ONE WEEKEND! And even that was low because they ran into supply problems. Samsung Galaxy s3 alone sold 10 million in 3 months. So that shows you the struggles that RIM have Long run they will be okay. In terms of Operating system Android and Apple will still lead, with Microsoft and RIM fighting for third place. But Blackberry will still dominate in poorer countries such as Nigeria due to pinging, and the data bundles available. 8 Likes |
