Family / Re: Pastor Kumuyi's Son Ties The Knot (PHOTO) by kcjazz(m): 9:47am On Jun 21, 2013
OluwaMichelle: WARNING... LONG ARSK REPLY AHEAD grin tongue haha pardon me bikonu.

So I totally just joined NL just so I can comment on some of the misconception that has been said about my dear pastor Kumuyi/the church... I've been in this church long enough to know what is and isn't - since I was like 4yrs old, and I'm pushing 30 now. I consider myself Kumuyi's pikin lol, that's my dad yo! One thing that cannot be taken from him is his genuine teaching of holiness and bible doctrines (I went back to Deeper Life just because of GS messages, nothing else. Even though ppl look at me and make their assumptions, I could care less. I go to Deeper Life for my own spiritual reasons, I have been around this U.S of A and not come across anyone preach the word like Pastor Kumuyi, he is one of the real deals), plus the fact that my parents are pastors in the North America region, as well as uncles and aunts. I say all of these so you guys will know that my ties with this church runs deep, that been said, let me go into what I have to say.

Facts #1, most of the BS church "standards"/rules were not directly from the GS. The real culprits, or like many people so not-so-delicately put it on this thread "hypocrites", are the Leaders and Members alike, mainly Leaders. They are the ones making up most of these rules and then say it is church standard, and sadly it is out of ignorance, lack of exposure/understanding of the word of God, out of eye-service for man. And a lot of these issues in the church would not be so rampant if not for the "yes sir" or follow-follow mentality affecting our people in the churches. Most people aren't willing to challenge their local/regional leaders, they count it as "we will follow what we are told". it is sad really and it's not even a deeper life issue, it's an African inferiority complex, to idolize ppl (I cannot stand that nonsense).

Fact #2, the region you worship contributes a whole deal to the things you are "allowed" and "not allowed", this one has always been my utmost problem with the church. Why is DLBC in New York able to do one thing, but the ones in Texas isn't (vice versa) or any other region in the U.S? Are we not all under the same church standard? Why is it okay for Deeper Lifers in the diaspora to have attachments and dress in a way that our brethren in Nigeria/Africa not "allowed"... Although that issue had been addressed by the GS, but why are the pastors/leaders in Africa holding their members to standards that aren't ordered/supported by the GS?
My point is the mentality of some of these pastors is very limited, even the school educated ones are making nonsense rules, holding on so dearly to the rules they were held to when they were in Nigeria. I'll never forget my first DLBC wedding in America, imagine the sadness that came over me watching someone that was my age mate (and friend at the time) walk down the aisle with her husband wearing a freaking T-shirt under her wedding gown, with a bolero (KAI, e pained me). And the Pastor ordering the limo they rented to leave. No decoration for the hall used, no cake, no dancing... ppl just sat at the table looking. My friends from other churches that came to the wedding still refers to that day and rebuke the devil. Till date that was the most depressing wedding I ever witnessed.

So you see my people, we can go on and on about what you think/believe DLBC is or what Kumuyi stands for but I want you to know this much, the amt of error being passed down is not from the GS and he has tried to clear it up so many times and some people says he's backsliding. So what should he do? The only consolation is that Kumuyi won't stand for any of the leaders under him, neither will he stand on behalf of his members. At the end of it, you are on your own on the judgement day. Let Holiness be your watch-word and stop doing follow-follow and eye service. Do your job as a christian (search the scriptures, know the word let the holy spirit be your teacher and example and stop depending on your district pastors to tell you what is not/is sin/worldly in regards to bible. I leave you all to this response below...

Well Said! I've never met a group that put so much emphasis on outer appearance than our beloved DLBC brethren but like someone else said when we realize that "Church Principles does not equate Bible doctrines, the more meaningful our Christian journey would be." and I couldn't agree more!

#OkI'mDone >_< I don talk too much

Does it not bother you that the leaders do not obey the GS due to their overzealousness? I don't have a problem with this wedding but I know someone must have been suspended in the past for the dress and limo. When goalposts changes according to the personality involved then it shows a structural problem.

That is the complexity of our country. It is called quota system, aka federal character. If GEJ fails to abide by quota system, Buhari will release his dogs to unleash more mayhem in the north.

And you think he is the best from Sokoto state? By the way, your argument should have avoided the quota issue and made stronger if you blame PDP objectively.

Anyway he use to be the Attorney general of Sokoto, maybe he is bad public speaker. Me thinks you measure him per his portfolio and how he has achieved his ogas youth vision .

Business / How Can A Business Save Money On Electricity? by kcjazz(m): 11:34am On Jun 12, 2013
We all know about the power supply situation in most parts of the country.
So for a new manufacturing company that wants to save costs on power, any hope?

Could a better process design help?
Could setting up your business near a gas plant help?
Or buying energy efficient equipment
Or whatever
In your experience as business people or workers, how have you saved power costs? Just curious

We always mix forgiveness and Trust. Forgiveness let's go of the past, trust governs future behaviour. I would forgive a cheating partner but moving forward depends on how we solve the problem. Cheating is a consequence of a deeper problem how we resolve the problem will govern the future.

Politics / Re: Why Make It Very Difficult For Igbo States To Enter Unity Schools?? by kcjazz(m): 12:57pm On Jun 10, 2013
Unity school students account for just 2% of the secondary school students population in this country. The current admission criteria is 40% merit, 30% national, 30% catchment areas. The Southeast has more kids even in non southeast states. So in Imo for example based on this criteria at least 60% are Igbos. Let's talk about fixing the schools to achieve its goals efficiently.

Why we keep talking about this is irreprehensible, irresponsible and shameful. Una no dey tire for this anti Igbo blame game? Smh

Are you an international traveler? Do you know number of people who wanted to book flights to PH only to be met with jaundice pill of monopoly, take or leave it? While booking flights to Abuja or Lagos remains a breeze.

Do you have any numbers?
FAAN manages airports, airline business is not a big money spinner but if you have demand it works. Based on the PH numbers you are the only one searching, it's that simple. Point is, rather than political it is demand and supply.

Why must everything have to be seen through the eyes of tribalism? I am Igbo and if I was President I won't upgrade Enugu to an international based on the numbers and traffic statistics. Osubi airstrip in Warri handled more domestic traffic than Enugu in 2012. What we should be saying is why are folks not using this airports? Even Port Harcourt international numbers is rubbish but at least government dey manage. Please folks chill and before you argue visit FAAN website for details. Politics / Re: What Is Security Votes? by kcjazz(m): 5:47pm On Jun 05, 2013
Security votes an idiots guide.
A father had 36 sons. Due to the high number of sons he decided to give them money to protect themselves. The father is influential, controls the city and even the police so the money to his sons are just added benefit for his sons

So what does his sons do with this new found money which the father insists will not be accounted for.?
1. They could divert it to other interests like buying computers for deserving kids or share with his bad friends drinking and women . Father doesn't care just spend it.

2. He could actually use it to protect himself more by maybe buying more phones/cars for say the police but the problem is remember the father controls the police and hence what can he do? Let's say the father assigned him 100 policemen to protect him and they have cell phones each, if he buys more that's one cell phone too many plus he can't hire his friends to protect him, it must be the one his father provides.
Plus if he buys too much the father could take it and hand it over to his squandering brother.

The security votes issue is quite a conundrum but it is free money for good or bad.
Family / Re: How Can One Cope Wit A Lazy Wife? by kcjazz(m): 5:01pm On Jun 05, 2013
You need to calm down and talk with your wife about this in a non condescending, non judgement al manner. Give her more responsibility.
What is her passion? Since you mentioned she has changed. A lot of times you could set business she is not passionate about and you lose your money and are back to square one.

Secondly you need to help her do chores. Not sure if you have kids. But make work fun at home by doing it together in a sexy manner too tongue. Couples do things for each other all the time. Don't employ a house help till you try all options.

Buy appliances to help like washing machine or washer person. Truth is most men think women are super human but come on make her tasks easier.

Lastly who are her friends? In all this pray and confess positive words in her life.

What has social media activism achieved really?

Its like the roof telling the foundation, what has it achieved undecided. Gani and other activists of his time used the tool they had to protest against government policies. Well we have social media now and it is a tool, it doesn't make street protests old school we can have both. Was Occupy Nigeria a social media success? We can yappp all day on twitter but if we don't come out nothing changes.

The major cause of every conflict in this world is when one person or group feels his way is better than others. We can have both and the impacts should be based on contexts really

It is an arrogant statement.

Politics / Re: Why Can't The Anambra State Government Build The Second River Niger Bridge??? by kcjazz(m): 8:58pm On Jun 01, 2013
Duru1: There are certain things in Nigeria that fall exclusively within the domain of federal government of Nigeria. When federal government built MMA and NAA in Lagos and Abuja respectively, the OP would have inquired why respective states not build the airports.

First of all, the government is no longer in business of building monumental stuff especially with calls for federalism plus no money really, this is not 1970s anymore. Plus this is a road and doesn't affect the security or sovereignty of the nation so the FG can afford to play political games with it.

The way I see it if something will improve the lives of my people then I will do all there is to get it especially with broken promises of the past. Waiting for FG because they built MMA while my people suffer doesn't sound sensible to me.
Politics / Re: Why Can't The Anambra State Government Build The Second River Niger Bridge??? by kcjazz(m): 7:51pm On Jun 01, 2013
The cost of a 100 billion is highly questionable and depending on sources the cost range varies. If the FG wants to make a 6 lane it is totally different if a state decides to take on the project. If I am a Governor I would do without any frills, no London bridge or hanging bridge just like the Murtala Bridge over the Benue as long as it is structurally sound we be good and a 4 lane will do perfectly.

Plus the governor can go in partnership with other states like Delta or private companies, the project is very sellable if there is vision. Waiting for the FG and their gazillion lanes and golden parkways is a long thing...
Politics / Why Can't The Anambra State Government Build The Second River Niger Bridge??? by kcjazz(m): 4:00pm On Jun 01, 2013
For the past 25 years, every sitting President or Minister of Works promises that "Niger bridge would be repaired and the second bridge will commence soon". As we all know nothing has been done to that effect.

I have lived in Onitsha in the past so I kinda understand how important a second bridge will help the city in areas of transportation, employment rates, agriculture, real estate values and even tourism (if an open space is added for markets underneath).

In 2013, Anambra budget is at N110 billion, if the state government dedicates 0.005% (half of 1%) to the project for five years, it would be able to build a structurally sound bridge that could pay for itself in a few years if a toll gate is added at the Onitsha end of the bridge.

So the question is: Why can't the state government build the second bridge, if they truly believe it is so important to the economy of the state?

NB: Please no tribal insults, I just want to know why its not a solution at this time plus am Igbo tongue incase you are wondering.

Thanks!

Sule Lamido for the past few years has been groomed to become a future President of Nigeria, whether that would be 2015 or not can't say but he will be up there when a Northerner takes over. Under his leadership Jigawa State is growing and he has improved greatly the infrastructures in the state.

I am particularly happy for his vision in educating more women in the state as a means to reduce poverty. In the long run this is the real solution to violence in the North and he has focused greatly to make it work. He has one of the highest budget allocation on education in the country and that is no mean feat. So yes he is a Presidential material.

Pets dont have a chance where people love bush meat. tongue
It is sociological and psychoological too. You think of pets when you can actually feed yourself.
Apart from security folks do not see the need for them. In other countries people keep pets as companions but we are a close knitted community.
Plus everything is based on economic development. Vets per capita is low so I wont even suggest pets until we have more practicing vets.
