What is the essence of signing peace accord when after such events, the aspirants and their supporters keep making incisive comments that are unwarranted. The elections are supposed to be peaceful and not a "do or die" affair. Real politicians should think of how they can better the country and not to impoverish the citizens. Our politicians are very selfish and desperate.
Below is a Transcript of President Muhammadu Buhari's Speech at the Signing of a Second Peace Accord by Presidential Candidates today in Abuja.
Buhari signed a peace accord with the PDP Presidential Candidate, Atiku Abubakar to prevent any fallout or crisis after Saturday's elections.
Buhari said;
"Another election is upon us and not unexpectedly, there is anxiety in the air. This is typical of any form of competition and contest, no matter how well prepared all contestants and regulators are. The forthcoming elections are very special and significant for the growth of our Democracy.
First, they come immediately after one of the most peaceful elections in the history of our country. I am not saying this because I was blessed to emerge as the winner. I am saying there had been a lot of fears and anxieties from within and outside Nigeria about the future of the country. We are hopeful that this is evidence that we are all maturing in our disposition towards electoral outcomes. We see this as an opportunity to grow our sense of political culture in Nigeria.
Secondly, we are witnessing an exciting development in the area of the engagement of our Youth and Women in the democratic process. Hitherto, these groups have often not been in the mainstream of our political competition. It is in appreciation of their contribution that we passed the Not Too Young to Run Bill last year. The success of the Act is illustrated by the unprecedented number of young men and women who have stepped forward to participate in this process as Candidates at all levels. Significantly, we have witnessed also the emergence of Women as Candidates across the political space.
Thirdly, these elections are taking place against the backdrop of the emergence of an unprecedented number of Political Parties. As of now, we have 91 Political Parties, out of which over 70 fielded Presidential Candidates. Although some Candidates have dropped out of the race, there is no doubt in our minds that our country is moving forward and that our democracy is expanding and also deepening.
I call on all Nigerians to contribute to the building of a viable polity by more active participation well beyond the mere casting of votes. Elections by themselves do not constitute Democracy. It is the spirit of citizenship engagement that utilizes the energy of citizens towards the attainment of good governance.
We have assembled here to mark the final phase of our campaigns and we are now at the doorstep of our elections. The Campaigns so far have gone well and we thank God for that. For the few incidents in which people lost their lives largely through accidents, we pray that God grants them eternal peace. Now campaigns are over and our next assignment is for us all, citizens and contestants alike, to go out and exercise our civic duties.
We, the Presidential candidates are here to sign and commit ourselves to do all that is possible to ensure the success of the elections but most importantly to accept the final outcome. I appeal to my fellow contestants to commit to these ideals so as to keep our country and people safe. The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, our electoral Umpire, has already assured us that they have done everything possible to ensure free and fair elections.
It was to ensure this that I made sure that INEC received all the resources they needed to perform their job. Our Security Agencies have been fully briefed and they know that their visible neutrality is key to the conduct, credibility and success of the elections.
To the Rt. Honourable Patricia Scotland, the Secretary General of the Commonwealth Secretariat, we extend our felicitations and welcome to you. Your presence here and your friendship mean a lot to us as a country. To the Members of the Diplomatic Corps, the International Team of Monitors, again, I say, welcome to Nigeria and thank you very much for standing by us. Your presence helps to validate our process and commitment to growing our Democracy.
I want to thank General Abdulsalami Abubakar, the Chairman of the National Peace Committee and all his members for the hard work they have put into ensuring that our Elections are peaceful. Your great work contributed significantly in shaping the 2015 elections and we are sure that the same impact will be felt in these elections.
To all our citizens, I want to thank you. As we go into the elections in few days, please let us pray for our country. Let us use this opportunity to strengthen our beliefs in a united country. Our elections are important only to the extent that they make our country peaceful and prepare us for development.
I am making a special appeal to our young people: Do not allow yourselves to be used to cause violence. Please eschew all forms of violence and cooperate with all the relevant agencies during these elections. We will vote according to Parties, but in the end, the only real Party is Nigeria, our country. Our elections are important only to the extent that they make her strong. Let us do our best and ask God to bless us and our country.
Thank you and God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
To be candid, I think the only punishment that would be ideal for this offence is doing the same thing to the woman. Take a hot knife and burn her on her buttocks. Some women are just wicked. She did that to the girl because she is not her daughter. On sundays they go to church and pretend to be who they are not. They blame their misfortunes on village people when they are the cause of their problems.
Ritzy10: A seven-year-old girl, Mazichukwu, is battling with burns allegedly inflicted on her by her aunt, whom she lives with on Josiah Aina Street, Alakuko, Lagos State.
The aunt, Mrs Loveth Ozoihu, reportedly punished the girl by beating her with a hot knife for allegedly stealing chewing gum belonging to their neighbour’s child.
PUNCH Metro learnt that Ozoihu, a trader, had sent Mazichukwu to give the neighbour the change for the goods she bought from her. The girl reportedly met the woman’s kid holding the candy and collected it from her. She was said to have returned home, chewing the gum, which she confessed to have collected from the neighbour’s kid when her aunt asked her where she got it from.
Enraged by Mazichukwu’s conduct, Ozoihu reportedly lit a gas cooker at midnight and put a knife on the burner. She reportedly placed the hot knife on the girl’s buttocks, leaving her to groan with pains. It was learnt that the Enugu State indigene later took the girl to a chemist’s shop, where a substance was applied to the injury.
A good Samaritan, who got wind of the assault, reported the case to the police at the Alakuko Division and Ozoihu was arrested. In her statement to the police, the 25-year-old suspect denied assaulting the girl, but claimed that Mazichukwu mistakenly sat on the burner.
But Mazichukwu faulted her aunt’s claim before the police, insisting that the woman inflicted the burns on her buttocks.
Ozoihu was subsequently arraigned before an Ogba Magistrates’ Court on one count of assault occasioning harm.
SaiATKUOBI2019: If anyone tells you the reason Buhari is not working is that he inherited corruption, tell them great leaders don't blame people and events for their failures. They simply accept responsibility and move on. Ask them, what has Buhari done after all the fake promise of fixing power in 6wks, reducing pump price to #45 naira, making N1 equal to a $ 1, stopping Boko Haram etc. It's a shame. The inferno truth is, corruption started from heaven when Satan violated a privilege given him. That never stop God's works. He waited for God to create man and brought his lawlessness and corruption into the garden of Eden. God wasn't moved. He introduced a redemption plan; The Savior was born, sadly, Judas Iscariot was there. Not discouraged yet, He gave us God the Holy Spirit. If anyone tells you the reason Buhari is not working is that he inherited corruption, tell them corruption is rooted in the DNA of homo sapiens ( Latin: wise man ) because we are just mere mortal infected with a virus of good & evil. Yet, great leaders don't blame people and events for their failures. They simply accept responsibility and move on."
These "so called celebrities" get old being wretched. Their fake lives do not allow them to invest adequately. When they are sick or are in dire need of money, you see a post from a colleague in the industry appealing for financial assistance to solve the problem that everyone presumes they (the celebrities) are capable of solving.
kidap: Actor Tokunbo Awoga has exposed his fellow Nollywood actors who show off cars on Instagram with claims that they just newly purchased them. According to Tokunbo Awoga, many of such instances have to do with the actors/actresses getting those cars from car dealers on higher purchase. He even spoke of a colleague ofbjisbin the industry who still warms the bed of a car dealer after she got a car from him which she flaunted on Instagram.
Unless God insists that you reveal His message, I do not see why these prophets keep heating the polity with their prophesies.
chinambusay: Dr Faleyimu Olagoroye, the Lagos based Prophet who predicted barrenness for Funke Akindele, has finally reacted to the actress' twins’ birth.
The founder of Mountain of Blessing and Miracle Church of Christ who in a new interview defended his prediction concerning the actress, revealed the untold story behind the arrival of the babies. The Prophet who predicted barrenness for Funke Akindele, recounted how he gave the actress three different solutions for her to become a mother.
He told Yorubamoviegist;
“About Funke Akindele was a nobody when I have been giving out revelation about her. it was revealed to me that she will be very rich and famous but she will find it difficult to have a child, only prayers can help her out.
After her first marriage, the news was everywhere that she was pregnant, thereafter, we read something else about the pregnancy in the news. Subsequently, she got married to another person and I repeated the prophesy. She was said to be pregnant again and after sometimes, news came out again that she lost it.
The media came to me and I explained what was happening and the only way out. When she delivered twins, I read people’s comments on social media that I am a prophet of doom. Remember I said she should pray very hard if she must have a child because she chooses wealth above children when she was coming to this world.
One of the things I said was that she should go for a deliverance and she should ask God with her mouth what she want, not to go to pastors or prophets for prayers. If I pray for her to have a baby, no miracle will happen, the only thing she can do is to pray with her mouth or she get married to someone who is not up to her standard. Then, when she is pregnant, her wealth will be reducing.
After she delivered, it was revealed to me that she got the baby through IVF. If Funke Akindele had followed any of the 3 solutions I gave her, she would have been pregnant naturally. People should read Genesis 25 vs 21-26, Genesis 3 vs 9-24, Genesis 17 -21, and 1Samuel 25-28, you will see people who are looking for the fruits of the womb from God and see how God answered them naturally, not through scientific method.
It is only the people who can’t conceive naturally Doctors will advise to go for IVF. Meanwhile, IVF is 50/50 things, not everyone that did it ended up with babies. It is a scientific method which is not in the Bible. Jesus Christ was born through Holy Spirit not IVF and there is no other miracle like that after him. IVF is not for poor people, it is for the rich who can afford it”.
I am happy for your success. You are really a role model. You were really focused on your goals and you never allowed yourself to be distracted.

Amagite: Dubai-based controversial Nigerian big boy, Ray Hushpuppi has reacted to the convener of Concerned Nigerians, Deji Adeyanju's detention.
Deji has now spent 52 days in detention at Kano Central prison.
Mr Adeyanju has been kept perpetually in custody since the Nigerian police lured him to their office in Abuja on December 13.
Fifty two days later, the activist has not been granted bail despite a slew of fundamental rights lawsuits filed by his associates.
He has spent so long in prison even though the police do not seem to have a justifiable case against him.
The police said Mr Adeyanju was a suspect in a homicide that occurred in Kano in January 2005.
Hushpuppi has now spoken via his Instagram handle. He wrote;
"All our youth shouting to take back the country and been complaining about the present government, where are you all? One of your most outspoken activists has been arrested for almost two months, what are you all doing about it? Please let this go viral, demand the release of adeyanju. He is been detained wrongly without them telling us if he is even alive. Old men at the top, pls get familiar with democracy and #FreeAdeyanju"
Let us all be careful of what we say today, because they might hunt us tomorrow.
Lukgaf: It was so funny yesterday on Channel Sunday Politics where Festus Keyamo, Director of Strategic Communication of Buhari 2019 Presidential Campaign almost finished the spokeman of PDP and once time ally of President Buhari, Alhaji Buba Galadima . When Galadima accused Buhari of suffering from dementia because he wrongly presented Gubernatorial candidate in one of their campaigns. Unfortunately for Galadima, he made mistake by saying Festus Keyamo was once a PDP member. So, Keyamo asked if he can also be alleged of dementia because of the mistake he made.
Very unfortunate the moral decadence we are being faced in the society. We have lost our value system and no longer care the implications of our actions.
PrettyCrystal: A young man was apprehended after being spotted in a female hostel at the Kogi State University in Anyigba area, early this morning.
It was gathered that the suspect was allegedly trying to steal from the students inside the hostel before an alarm was raised and he was nabbed.
Some of the students alleged that the young man was trying to steal their panties and underwear.
In a video posted online, the female students can be heard shout 'Ole' (thief) as the suspect was brought out of their hostel by the school security and taken into their van.
@searching4love are you serious or you are being sarcastic? Are you telling me that I can come to your house without an invitation and I go straight to your kitchen and dish out a food from your pot and you will not say anything? Until we see things and interpret them the way they actually are we will keep having problems in the country. You can say this because it is not your brother or sister or friend who was killed. Maybe you do not know that these herdsmen go to people's farmland and destroy their sweat in the name of feeding their cattle.
searchiing4love: I BLAME THE SELFISH FARMERS ALL OVER THE COUNTRY FOR THIS DESPERATE MOVE BY THE FG TO IMPORT GRASS. WHY ARE PEOPLE SO STINGY WITH EVERYTHING? WHY CANT FARMERS AND COMMUNITIES ALLOW THE FULANI CATTLE HERDERS TO GRAZE THEIR CATTLE IN FARMS AND BUSHES ALL OVER THE COUNTRY? WE HAVE MASSIVE LAND MASS BUT STILL IMPORTING GRASS TO FEED COWS DUE TO FARMERS GREEDINESS. THE FULANIS ARE NOT BEEN TREATED FAIRLY IN THIS NATION BECAUSE NO OTHER TRIBE CAN REAR CATTLES IN LARGE QUANTITIES LIKE THEY DO TO FEED THE NATION. WE SERIOUSLY NEED TO APOLOGIZE TO THE FULANIS AND ALLOCATE SEVERAL HECTARES OF LAND TO THEM IN EVERY STATE OF THE FEDERATION
Tears just came to my eyes when I read this piece. I wish will have a police force with people like this man. Life will be very easy for everyone including the police themselves. You get more reward for doing the right thing than from doing the wrong things. People will keep blessing you when ever you put a smile on their faces. Most times we hear stories of how badly the police force are treating innocent Nigerians and it seemed like there is no end to this craze. My brother more grease to your elbow and I wish you pass the message to all and sundry.
Nigerian Police Officer Finds & Returns Woman's Purse With Content Worth Over N200 Million
Found this inspiring story of this Nigerian police officer, Edward Eze Onoriode who returned a woman's purse with ATM cards containing N200m and a necklace worth N1.8 million. Read the amazing story as shared by him on his Facebook wall below...
"I was at Ikeja shopping mall two days ago on duty where I recovered a missing purse at the parking lot. The purse contained; some cash both local and foreign currencies, recharge cards worth about N2000, nine ATM cards, complementary cards, valuable documents, international passport, international and local drivers license, national ID card, voters card and a gold necklace.
I took the missing purse to the security office where all lost but found items are being kept for the owners to claim should in case the owners lodge a formal complaint that their items at the mall went missing for possibly claim after identification. At the security office where we went through all the items inside the purse for record purpose, one of the security men told me point blank that if he's the one that recovered the missing purse, he'd remove the money, gold necklace and recharge card before bringing the purse to the office for record purpose.
I wasn't disappointed with his misguided speech because that's the normal character of most Nigerians when they recover a missing item. Somehow, I decide to trace the owner of the purse via her complimentary card and put a call across to her. Open receiving the call, she screamed at the background jubilating that her missing purse has been recovered. She drove straight to the mall, tracing me through my mobile number I used in calling her.
When we met, she didn't mind we were in public, she gave me a warm hug and thanked me and prayed for me. I took her to the office where the purse was kept. She checked her purse and discovered that nothing was missing. She was astonished. She asked me again if I was the one that saw the item and I said yes. She told me that she was already in the bank filling forms to block her ATM cards. She said in those ATM cards, she have over N200m in there and the necklace in the purse is valued at N1.8m.
She also said, I just removed a heavy burden from her neck because life would have been miserable for her missing her international passport, international and local drivers licence including other documents. She kept thanking me and almost knelling down. She was awed and she told me that she least expected a Police officer to recover a missing item containing cash and still return that missing item intact without removing a dime out of it mostly in this harsh economy. She kept staring at me like am a God.
To cut the long story short, she gave me some cash which I rejected. I told her am doing my job and taking money from her for recovering her missing purse is wrong on my part. I also made her to understand that we can become friends and maybe in the future she can appreciate my nice gesture to her but I won't take anything from her for doing my job at the moment. She became speechless and asked me which church am i attending?
I smiled and told her "am irreligious. In fact, am a freethinker" that's the exact words I told her. She stood their for minutes without knowing the next word to say. Anyway, we are now friends and she just introduced me to her husband this morning on phone. Her husband was so excited and has invited me and my family to join them on a dinner in any of my off days. Is good to do the right thing not because of any reward that comes with it but because its the right thing to do. Good morning.
Mustay: Another unnecessary duplication of offices - they're more like Governors and deputies. Most times, there's no synergy between the two but they have to 'manage' themselves. In the usual 'federal character' nonsense, if the Minister is from one geo-political zone, the Minister of State is from another.
Everybody in Nigeria knows that Edwin Clark benefited from the Goodluck administration. By coming out with these statements only belittles him and makes Nigerians to see him for who he reaaly is. What a shame!!!
