Politics / Re: Tunji Bello: Lagos To Experience 240 Days Of Rain In 2020 by kevoh(m): 10:43am On Mar 11, 2020
efembaba:
I beg why is millimeters used as a unit in measuring rain. I thought it should be for length and hight
See it this way, when rain falls on day A and another falls on day B. Let's assume you put a paint bucket of length 1000 millimetres outside to collect the rain water, not the water from your roof ooo! Just outside in the plain. On day A, when it rained the bucket got filled up while on day B the bucket is 3/4 filled. Let's assume both rain fell for two hours. One can deduce that the rain on day A had more amount of rainfall than day B. Since on day A, the amount of rainfall was 1000 millimetres and day B 750 millimetres. Do you understand it now?

This is basically how a rain gauge works!

Rainy season! It does not mean that rain will fall 24 hours each day of the 270 days! Some days will just be humid/wet but no rain. Some just few showers. you understand it now?

Nope, just the length of the rainy season.

The release in itself is ambiguous. If rainy season will start in March 19 and end in November 22 which is a total of 240 days, does it mean that it will rain everyday or just capturing the duration of rainy season?

Don’t kind them, that’s not possible because if it happens, the whole state will be flushed away.
It's just the duration of rainy season.

I will not let you go so easily.
Come and detain me na.

Jeromejnr:

Please enlighten us about the inconsistency of the flood and science.
Let's start with the ark. How is it scientifically possible for the ark to have contained all the animals in the world given that it is hardly as big as the titanic?
What did the carnivorous animals on board feed on? What about termites that love wood, what were they feeding on? So how did Noah and his three sons manage to cut huge logs of wood and transport to the ark building site? So many questions to ask but don't wish to waste my time on it as this has been trashed countless times on Nairaland.

Thank you.

The Atheists won't see this and know they are just been stubborn upon nothing. This is the time you won't hear anything from their mouths.

They deceive themselves trying to be wiser than their maker.

One day their eyes go clear.

They Rely solely on what Science tells them.

Now Science is confirming Biblical account, they shamefully hide their faces.

Time will tell
1. Atheism is not equal to science. Atheism is not science. They are many atheists who don't have interests or even know much about science. They just lack the belief that your god exists, shikena! You have not given them any concrete proof either.

2. It's quite tiresome arguing over the same thing on Nairaland that is glaring and ridiculous as "science is confirming biblical account, they shamefully hide their faces!" I can give you one or two verses in the same chapter 1 of Genesis that totally contradicts science. By the time we start picking these contradictions one by one till we get to a virgin giving birth without sexual intercourse in the New Testament, it could take more than a day. No one has time for such time wasting ventures again. Atheists are better off allowing you to bask in the glory of your ignorance that atheists don't want to engage anyone. It's a win-win for both parties grin .

I suppose you know that Catholicism is a religion on its own?
Actually, the different Christian denominations are religions on their own. Take Nigeria for example, Jehovah witness, Lord's chosen, Deeper Life, Adventists, RCCG can not fellowship together, can not marry each other, refuse to attend the other's church. They all have their own styles of worship and doctrines the same way Catholics have their style. They are all religions in their own right!

This is consistent with biblical account of early Earth. We read in the book of Genesis that water covered the Earth surface and was later separated to give oceans and dry land. This is where science and religion meet.
Which of the religions are you talking of? Is it the Judeo-Christian one? If yes, then barely one chapter later in their holy book, it had already started disagreeing with science.

By the time you get to Noah's ark and the flood story, both have already gone their separate ways.

Don't force it. Just let science be what it is, knowledge based on facts gathered through observation and experimentation and let the Bible stories be what they are, a moral guide for its adherents. Don't try to marry both of them forcefully as it will only end up exposing inconsistencies that lie within the Bible.

But if it's true kudos
No, it's not a paid advert. We've actually had thermal imaging and other heat detectors at Abuja airport way before COVID-19/coronavirus. The equipment were brought right after the ebola case of Patrick Sawyer. I know this because I've seen this thermal imaging equipment countless times while working at abuja airport.

It was a matter of bringing them back to use the moment we realized coronavirus was in Nigeria.

My first time commenting on this thread. Please permit me to address this misconception of gaming the system by fraudulent scammers. (Case Study : Admob and Latinhire)

Has Google banned Nigerians from accessing Admob? No. If you have developed a mobile app that actually serves a purpose, can be of service to prospective users and can pass Google's Admob requirements. Kindly go ahead and make your money from Admob. Same with Adsense and other google ad revenue services.

It's laughable seeing people (Nigerians are learners here compared to Indians) trying to game the system with empty apps and zero contents. Even mobile apps that have content sef Google removes them from playstore, let alone an empty apk file that people have placed ad banners and were expecting to make money from by self clicking. There's always a quality review system that will spit out any offender. Infact, Google doesn't need a quality team to catch your tricks, you give yourselves up when you are busy opening all sorts of thread on Nairaland and the internet on self-clicking methods.

As for Latinhire, I fail to see how an individual will game the system. This is my first week there but from what I've seen so far they are not different from other sites I've worked with who have a quality assurance team in place to do reviews. There are also rules to abide by. You get kicked out when you continuously give answers that are rated 1 or 2. It takes the quality assurance team less to nothing to detect plagiarized answers. The way you are expecting to be paid for your answers is the same way the quality assurance team expects to be paid for every plagiarized answer they detect. So keep deceiving yourself if you are planning to game the system.

Please let this issue of Nigerians on the platform just die on this particular page. It's not a healthy form of discussion for us, as many countries are also guilty of the same issue.

If AJ can beat Klitschko, he shouldn't be a pushover for Fury. But, it's going to be a tough fight, no doubt.
I have my doubts. AJ fought an older version of Klitschko who might have had experience but lacked the firepower (in terms of punch) of his youth. Remember Fury also beat Klitschko before that match against AJ. AJ and Fury are also of the same age group, I see their fight going either way and like you said, it's definitely going to be a tough fight.

I don't speak nor write horrible English yet I am quite good at Maths.

There are no stats to back up your assertion as I have equally come across people who are Maths gurus and can speak and write English perfectly. The way Mathematics demand more effort and constant practice to be better at it is the same way English demands such requirements and ditto for any other subject.

Firstly, there is NOTHING straight forward about the method, else it won't be prone to errors. Like I said, carbon dating several times, has had it's accuracy questioned by scientists.
I reiterate it's quite straight forward. Questioning the accuracy of a method is part of science. Even at 100% efficiency, scientists will still question it's accuracy and reperfect the technique. That's the beauty of it. The phone you are using to type right now was quite crude years ago.

philip0906:

Secondly, my point is, it is ridiculous to lampoon Biblical timeline on the grounds that it's accuracy is questionable, when the scientific alternative, is as questionable as the one we accuse.
I have not mentioned the bible. Let's not go there. The bible can only be used to validate the bible! Too many inconsistencies and most importantly, there's no room for questioning obvious errors and illogicality. Please let's not even go there.

Good! The question then is, how and why should we take radiocarbon to be the absolute and finite answer when severally, radiocarbon dating accuracy, has been called to question?
The method looks pretty straightforward and can be fine-tuned to be more accurate. Are there any other reliable and accurate technique of dating that you are aware of? If yes, please spill it here.

You still did not answer the question.

How do they know that the fossil up there is 330 million years old? This is science, right? Science tells us to use PROOFs & FACTS to validate. What proof & FACT do we have available to definitely say, the fossil has been PROVEN (visible & tangible) that the fossil is 330 million?

Google RadioCarbon dating! These things are taught as far back as secondary school!

Technically, it would be hard to site a nuclear plant in the North due to most parts of the North being dry zones as the nuclear reactors need lots of water to operate, so it needs to be sited in a region where there's a lake or a river.

Then again, an artificial lake/river can be created in the North if one must site a Nuclear plant in the North.
