Poems For Review / Re: What Brought Forth Your Poetic Side? by Khaleefa(m): 5:10pm On Aug 15, 2007
@ Palmer

"Do not search for love
Becos "LOVE IS DEAD"
Search for the living
And not the dead
LOVE is among the dead".

Now why do I have the feeling that this was written while you were swimming in the sea of heartbreak? LOL
Eloquent expression of heartfelt disappointment in Love. I like it. smiley

Citizen of the world

Khaleefa ©2005

I’ve heard the winds howls
Countless bells’ chimes
Far in the Savannah, Lions growls

Crossed many rivers
Slept in the wild, endured many shivers
Skiied and snow-boarded many a slope
Surfed, rode the waves, oooh, how dope

I’ve travelled the world
From Jersey to Johannesburg
Lagos to Luxemburg
Heard its each and every word
I’ve stood under the stars
Marvelling the vastness of space
Wondering the day we’d make it to Mars

I’m a son of the Earth
‘Been that …right from birth
I’ve eaten its fruits, drunk its wine
Read its poetry, line after line
Its tyrants, its statesmen, their story word for word
Held its daughters in carnal embrace
And celebrated the beauty of their body, their face
Yes, I’m a citizen of the world

@ Iwerebor

Not afraid to share at all, if memory serves, I think I've seen a few poems around here someplace.
Anyway, I recently shared one of mine. It's here if you'd like to read it:

To be honest, I've always been a poet. As a child I was painfully shy consequently I loved using a few words to speak volumes.
In my adolescent years, I found joy in summarizing the world around me into a few colourful words. My voracious appetite for reading only served to fuel the process.

As an adult I developed into a fine public speaker, MC, and part time TV/Radio presenter. The poetry was never faraway though as all my speeches resembled the ladies miniskirt: Short enough to be very appealing, yet long enough to cover the subject matter.  wink grin

My first collection of about 250 poems was lost back in '90 but since then, I've penned some 500 poems some of which are published on a number of internet site under my pen name.

Ok folks, here is the whole poem:

If I Be a Poet
Copyright Khaleefa ©2005

If I be a poet
I’d write many a beautiful sonnet
Paint with words a colourful utopian world
And make come to pass every single word

If I be a poet
I’d write about a moment
In time, when hunger is in the past
And in the heart of men, I’d pen
Brotherly love, black, white, yellow all as one

If I be a poet
I’d write praise and devotion
To the Lord who called me to that vocation
I’d seek the gift of persuasion
So I can reach into the heart of man
And quench his flaming obsession
For wanton self destruction
With my perfect verse
I’d pour oil over trouble waters
And with its soothing rhythm silence the guns and mortars
And put world decay into reverse

If I be a poet
I’d write a magical verse
It’s every word erasing hate
And tell the adults it’s not too late
Tell the kids the future is theirs
Show them they can make it better
I’d write tomorrow a letter

*I also write under the pen name Don Abdul

What's your take on the On-going Access Bank Public Offer?
Is it a good deal?
I'm thinking of investing in it, any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks

Hello Nairalanders,
Pls is there anyone here who can help with the following info?:

1) What Airlines run flights from Lagos To Nairobi (Kenya)?
2) How much does a business class Return Ticket cost?
3) Do I require a Visa, and if yes, any ideas on the easiest way to get one?

My childhood friend who resides in the UK is getting married in Nairobi to his Kenyan sweetheart, and I won't miss it for all the Abacha Loot grin

Any helpful info would be most appreciated.
Thanks.
