Politics / Biafra: We Are The Landlord – Ohaneze Ndigbo Lashes Out At IPOB by Kingson56(m): 9:06am On Jul 21, 2016 |
Ohaneze Ndigbo lashes at IPOB for disrespecting Igbo elders. – Ohaneze Ndigbo youths asks IPOB to apologise to Igbo leaders – The youth group accused the Biafra group of disrespecting elders by tagging their meeting a jamboree – They insist the unity of Nigeria is important The youth wing of the Ohaneze ndigbo has lashed out at the Indigenous Peoples Of Biafra (IPOB) for criticising the recently held Igbo summit. Igbo leaders had held a summit in Owerri in Imo state to look into problems affecting the region and had identified that Igbos were developing other regions at the expense of Igboland. READ ALSO: Igbo leaders declare commitment to Nigeria’s unity President-General Gary Enwo Igariwe, said at the meeting:“We should come together and solve our problems. We are known for our resilience and industry. Thirty per cent of investments in Lagos and Abuja is owned by Ndigbo but now we are calling on our people to think home and build another Abuja in Igbo land. “We should invest at home to create jobs for our people. So, today is a special day because we have decided as a people to close ranks and proffer solutions to our problems.” The leaders also called for the unity of the country as a way of achieving their aims for Igboland. However, statements credited to IPOB said the claimed the choice of Owerri as the venue of the meeting made it void as Enugu remained the capital of Igboland. Vanguard reports that in a statement issued by Mazi Alex Okemini said IPOB missed the point by describing a gathering of eminent Igbo leaders as a jamboree and urged the group to tender an unreserved apology to the leaders. READ ALSO: IPOB invokes spirits to avenge Biafra killings The youth group said any meeting concerning the Igbos could be held anywhere in Igboland and said the leaders deserve respect for what they had done to the region. “Apart from Enugu which is the capital city of Igbo land, a meeting of Igbo leaders can be convened in other towns in Igbo land. There is no rule which says that every Igbo event must hold in Enugu. We wish to remind IPOB that Ndigbo are the landlords of Nigeria and cannot leave it for anybody; but will only continue to seek for justice, equity and fair play for all Nigerians.” |

The statement issued by the militant group’s spokesperson, Brig. General Mudoch, reads in part: “The news that the Nigerian Navy has arrested Niger Delta Avengers’ logistics supplier is the biggest joke of the 21st century. The Nigerian Navy cannot arrest any of our operatives until we bring down the economy of this country.” The Avengers has also warned NUPENG, PENGASSAN and foreigners to“leave all oil fields and terminals in the Niger Delta because it is going to be dirty very soon. As it is now, any Tom, Dick and Harry is a suspect of Niger Delta Avengers. The Nigerian Navy has lost its sense of professionalism. Politics / Don’t Blame Herdsmen For Murder Of Plateau Traditional Ruler – Sultan by Kingson56(m): 8:28am On Jul 21, 2016 |
Sultan defends herdsmen over Plateau traditional ruler murder. – A top traditional rulerhad been killed in Plateau state earlier this week – Fulani herdsmen in the ares were immediately accused of the killing – The Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar, asked not to jump to conlusions so fast Sa’ad Abubakar, the Sultan of Sokoto, has commented on the killing of a top traditional ruler in Plateau state on Monday, July 18. The Saf Ron Kulere, Chief Lazarus Agai, was coming back home from his farm when unknown gunmen opened fire on him, his wife and security aide. All three died of their injuries. READ ALSO: Why Buhari cannot stop attacks by herdsmen Next day after the attack youth groups blocked roads and reportedly destroyed several buildings in the area. Locals immediately accused Fulanu herdsmen living in the neighbourhood. They are convinced that the traditional ruler was killed for his opposition to the state government’s plan to create grazing reserves in the area. However, Sa’ad Abubakar, who visited Plateau state on Wednesday, didn’t support the suspicions and asked the journalists to refrain from unwarranted conclusions until the investigation is over. He said: “Journalists who reported the incident just jump into conclusion and said it was herdsmen who killed the traditional ruler, the Saf Ron Kulere, without waiting for investigations from security agencies to provide details on the incidents, that is not fair.” The sultan, who visited in Jos for a two-day meeting of northern traditional council of chiefs to discuss primary healthcare in the region, called on security agents to find and prosecute the criminals. READ ALSO: Shocking! This is why i steal – Fulani Herdsman reveals “People should not take laws into their hands, whoever is a bad element in any community should be exposed. We are enjoying peace on the Plateau now, we should maintain the peace, let’s go back to the old days of peaceful coexistence, religious harmony, by so doing we should respect one another, our unity is of paramount importance,” he added. He delivered his speech at the palace of the Gbong Gwom Jos, Gyang Buba, while expressing condolence to the paramount ruler over the death of the Saf Ron Kulere. Meanwhile, Plateau state governor Simon Lalong has strongly condemned the killing of Lazarus Agai and pledged to work with security agencies to ensure that the killers were found and brought to justice. |
Foreign Affairs / Turkey’s Erdogan To CNN: Death Penalty Not Ruled Out For Plotters by Kingson56(m): 8:55am On Jul 19, 2016 |
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has reiterated that the death penalty is not off the table for those suspected of plotting a coup against his government, in an interview with CNN broadcast Monday. Erdogan, giving his first media interview since Friday’s dramatic coup attempt, also said his government would submit a written request for the extradition of US-based Muslim cleric Fethullah Gulen, whom he blames for the unrest, in the coming days. “There is a clear crime of treason,” Erdogan, speaking through a translator, told CNN when asked about calls for the alleged plotters to face capital punishment. “But of course, it will take a parliamentary decision for that to take action in the form of a constitutional measure,” he said, given thatTurkeyabolished the death penalty in 2004 as part of its long-standing efforts to join the European Union. “So the leaders will have to come together and discuss it. If they accept to discuss it, as the president, I will approve any decision to come out of the parliament.” Turkeylaunched fresh raids and sacked almost 9,000 officials Monday in a relentless crackdown against suspected coup plotters, with Erdogan vowing to wipe out the “virus” of the putschists after Friday’s coup attempt, which left more than 300 dead. But the United States and European Union have sternly warned him against excessive retribution and to respect the rule of law. Erdogan has blamed the coup attempt on Gulen, his arch-enemy, who lives in self-imposed exile in Pennsylvania. Gulen has denied any involvement. The Turkish leader told CNN that his country’s formal request for extradition would soon be submitted. “We have a mutual agreement of extradition of criminals,” he told the network. “There should be reciprocity in these types of things.” |
Politics / (MUSTREAD!!!) Biafra: God’s Hand In Massob’s Struggle —uwazuruike by Kingson56(m): 8:44am On Jul 19, 2016 |
ONITSHA—As preparations are on top gear to celebrate the 17th anniversary ceremony of the formation of the Movement for the Actualization of Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, on September 13, this year, leader of the Biafra Independence Movement, BIM, Chief Ralph Uwazuruike, yesterday, attributed the successes so far recorded by the movement to God. Chief Ralph Uwazurike He recalled that when MASSOB was started in 1999, as Africa’s leading non-violent group, nobody gave it any chances of survival as people felt that the clamour for the resuscitation of new Biafra would fizzle out the next day without standing the test of time. In a press statement issued to newsmen yesterday and signed on his behalf by the movement’s Director of Information, Mazi Chris Mocha, Uwazuruike lamented the killing of MASSOB members by Nigerian security agencies immediately after the declaration of Biafra by Chief Ralph Uwazuruike himself in Aba, Abia State on May 23, 2000. According to Uwazuruike, “from May 23, 2000 to May 22, 2013, the group lost about 3,006 of its members to the murderous security agencies, even as unrecorded causality figures may be close to this number, yet the struggle has refused to die, rather it continued to wax stronger. “They also destroyed my cars in Lagos and confiscated my three SUV jeeps, BMW motorcycle out-rider machine and a Yamaha generator, all in a bid for the former Imo state Governor, Chief Achike Udenwa to win the heart of his Abuja political masters for a second term”, Uwazuruike lamented. He further recalled that the group’s national headquaters at Okigwe, Imo state, was razed down on December 21, 2001, yet the struggle has refused to die, adding that several attempts were made on his life in order to abandon the struggle. But rather than allowing the struggle to die, it has increased and continued to wax from strength to strength each new day. The BIM leader disclosed that because of his refusal to pay the sum of N5 million police protection fee to the former Imo state Director of State Security Services, SSS, Alex Amechina (now retd), he was advised to leave the country and go on exile. “When I refused to go on exile, there were regular invasions of my residence and MASSOB secretariat by security agencies, yet the struggle refused to die”, he further stated. Uwazuruike who decried the unprofessional conduct of Nigeria security agencies in managing separatist agitations said the blood of the dead activists who died in active service have promoted the Biafra struggle because according to him, so many things promote a genuine agitations. Mocha who represented Uwazuruike at the special meeting in Igbere, Bende Local Government Area of Abia state, at the weekend, recalled that the late Dr. Nelson Mandela’s mother died while her son, Mandela was in prison just as Uwazuruike’s mother Ezinne Monica, also died while her son, Ralph Lebeanya was in Keffi prison in Nassarawa state. |
Career / Industrial Court Okays Workers’rights To Strike by Kingson56(m): 7:12am On Jul 19, 2016 |
Olusegun Oshinowo, NECA Director General. • NECA decries disruption of activities The National Industrial Court (NIC) has ruled that workers are entitled to embark on strike. In the judgment delivered by Hon. Justice Kanyip in a suit brought by the Federal Government challenging Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) over the protest against the recent hike in the price of petrol from N87 per litre to N145, the court held that Nigeria is a member of International Labour Organisation (ILO) and that ILO recognises strike as a negotiation tool by the workers. The court further stated conditions for organising strike to include the obligation to give prior notice and room for negotiation. The court also held that the issue of increase in price of petroleum products is not a trade dispute but that workers have right to embark on strike to drive home their demand provided those in essential services are excluded. The NLC team of lawyers led by Femi Falana and Kayode Ajulo, represented the TUC while the Federal Government was represented by Dayo Apata, the Director of Civil Litigation. Meanwhile, the Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association (NECA) has urged the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) to reconcile the warring factions of the central labour organisation. Reacting to the invasion of its premises by the General Secretary of the National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE), Joe Ajaero, the Director General of NECA, Olusegun Oshinowo, said that the disagreement over the leadership of NLC has made negotiation of labour issues difficult for employers. He also said NECA did not deploy the us of thugs to dislodge people that disrupted its activities last week in Lagos. He alleged that the faction of the union, led by Joe Ajaero, had linked NECA to the use of thugs and hoodlums to dislodge the illegal picketing of its premises. Oshinowo said that NECA is a law-abiding organization that would not resort to ‘’lawlessness to dislodge lawlessness”, saying, “this, actually, informed our decision to invite the Police and the Directorate of State Security (DSS) to protect us and our premises when we got wind of the Joe Ajaero faction’s plan to picket us.” He further explained that in NECA’s investigation on the identity of those that came to dislodge Ajaero and his group revealed three scenarios and possibilities. “The first possibility is the in-fighting among hoodlums and thugs, hired by Ajaero, over distribution of money paid them to carry out the illegal picket. “Another group who were left out of the largesse, after an initial mobilisation, then decided to undermine the illegal picketing and a counter action by the legal and recognised NLC to stop Ajaero from further acting in the name of NLC and parading himself as its President.” These are all possible leads, as we welcome the appropriate authority to investigate the cause of this mayhem, which ordinarily would not have occurred if Ajaero had respected the industrial relations laws of Nigeria and the law enforcement agencies present in NECA have acted decisively by dispersing the picketers who were very unruly and in fact paralyzed vehicular and human movement in the entire Ikeja neighbourhood. We again affirm that trade unionism and union immunity is not a license for anyone to brazenly trample on the rights of other economic actors and breach public order.” The NECA scribe posited that the cracks and lack of coordination within the industrial space was a show of the urgent need for social partners in the sector to initiate enduring reform. “In the light of the current decadent state of Industrial Relations practice in Nigeria as evidenced by the kind of action perpetrated against NECA by the Joe Ajaero’s illegal faction of the union, NECA would once again want to call on the Federal Government of Nigeria as a matter of urgency to summon a summit of the social partners for the purpose of setting in motion the much-needed reform of our Industrial Relations’ System,” he submitted. The event led to the postponement of NECA Annual General Meeting (AGM) as guests were denied entry into the venue of the meeting. In his reaction, Ajaero accused NECA members of deliberately sacking workers without following extant labour laws. The General Secretary of NUEE also debunked insinuations that he hired thugs to attack NECA premises.

Politics / HAHAHA It Sound Funny!!!! Decline In Oil A Blessing In Disguise – Obasanjo by Kingson56(m): 1:55pm On Jul 17, 2016 |
Decline in oil a blessing in disguise – Obasanjo Former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo has declared that the decline in oil prices might be a blessing in disguise to point Nigerians to the importance of agriculture. He then charged the Federal and state governments to treat agriculture as a business for the nation to make progress. Obasanjo stated this on Saturday at the First Eminent Persons Business Lecture entitled: ‘Agribusiness: Time to Act is now’, organised by the University of Ibadan, School of Business, UISB, in collaboration with International Institute of tropical Agriculture, IITA, Ibadan. His words, “It is now time for the country to move into agriculture as there is decline in oil prices, inadequate food supply, need to create employment, raw material for industrialisation, among others.” The former president stated that agribusiness is a good strategy for economic development, wealth creation, job creation and huge source of foreign exchange. He also said that attention should be given to agriculture at the highest political level. He stated that the government should provide conditions conducive and incentives for the private sector to engage profitably in agriculture. The Otta farmer continued, “Adequate infrastructure for transportation and storage must be provided; there should be stability in the price of agriculture commodities. “Agriculture financing should be kept at single digit rate of interest, agri-business must be glamourised to make it attractive to youths. BREAKTHROUGH! Internet Millionaire Reveals How He Made N3Million In 2 Months. For Proof, Click Here! “Attention should not be given to professional courses alone in universities, adequate support must be given to agricultural research; we should adopt best practices from within and outside Nigeria. “There should be creation of agro-service centres within reasonable distance for the farmers, we should add value to our foods to maximize returns from our investment,” he said.

Politics / buhari, Osinbajo Saying Rubbish; Bombings Will Continue – Ultimate Warriors Of by Kingson56(m): 1:30pm On Jul 17, 2016 |
Buhari, Osinbajo saying rubbish; bombings will continue – Ultimate Warriors of Niger Delta. A new militant group, the Ultimate Warriors of Niger Delta, has warned that bombing of oil installations in the region will not cease. The militant group, also described the alleged double speak by the federal government on dialogue with the people of the region as absurd. A statement issued by the group on Saturday also asked the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) to stop parading itself as leader of the militant groups. It reads: “We have said it before that we have nothing to lose on the bombing of oil pipelines because our mission is to ground the oil economy if our demands are not met. We have said we are doing what we are doing to prod the government to renegotiate the control of our oil resources and other related matters. “We have watched with chagrin the recent utterance by the President (Muhammadu Buhari) and the Vice President (Yemi Osinbajo) and all we see in them are double standard and lips service to the demand of the groups as its concerns the Niger Delta question and that is why all of our units and affiliates have not fully heeded to our ceasefire. “Today, the president will say something, tomorrow his deputy and some of their dishonest and selfish lieutenants will contradict him and that only shows how confused and unserious the government is about the problems and how to deal with them.”

Politics / MASSOB Condemns 'owerri Conference' by Kingson56(m): 1:14pm On Jul 17, 2016 |
Share and comment on this!!! •Says no going back on Biafra The Movement for the Actualization of a Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), has described the gathering of some Igbo leaders at Owerri, last Thursday, orgainsed by the Prof. Igariwey leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, as a mere jamboree, stating that it failed woefully to address the present yearnings of Ndigbo. The Comrade Uchenna Madu-led faction of MASSOB made this assertion in a press statement released yesterday, a copy of which was mailed to The AUTHORITY on Sunday. Part of the statement reads: “The leadership of the current Ohanaeze Ndigbo failed woefully on the yearnings and expectations of Ndigbo, in their conference in Owerri. “They consciously and systematically avoided raising the fundamental and paramount issues that are affecting the Igbo nation in Nigeria which includes the quest and agitation for Biafra restoration, the release of Biafra Freedom fighters like Nnamdi Kanu, Benjamin Onwuka, Lotachukwu Okoli, Chidiebere Onwudiwe and 21 others at Awka/Onitsha prisons. “Igariwey-led Ohanaeze also kept mute on the insensitive and extra-judicial killings of non-violent Biafra agitators on February 9 at Aba and on May 30, 2016 at Nkpor, Anambra State.” MASSOB stressed that the decisions they reached at the Owerri Conference is rejected and disregarded since it failed to address the above stated burning contemporary issues bothering the Igbo nation. The pro-Biafra group querried that “how can Ohanaeze Ndigbo that claims to be the umbrella of Ndigbo be insensitive to the plight of Ndigbo in Nigeria? “They deliberately chose to be cowards in defence of political, economic, social and religious interests of Ndigbo in Nigeria.” Meanwhile, a pro-Biafra activist currently based in Australia, Mr Chijioke Ede, said, the dream of an independent State of Biafra remains the lasting solution to enhance socio-infrastructural development of Igboland and the rest of Nigeria, as the case may be, by encouraging enterprise and competition among states, just as obtained in the United States of America (USA) and other civilised nations. Mr Ede who was the Enugu State secretary of Igbo Youths Association, which eventually collapsed into MASSOB, before he left for Australia in May, 2014, dropped this hints in his mail to The AUTHORITY on Sunday. He lamented that the pains he suffered at the hands of law enforcement agencies in Nigeria, because of his astute belief in the Biafra struggle before he left the shores of the country, but emphasized that they are also building up pressure groups from outside the country, in support of the Biafra struggle. Ede stated that, “On January 2, 2013, we were attacked at our meeting centre; as we were running for our safety, some of us were shot. I was hospitalised for 33 days before I was discharged. My body still bears the marks of the gunshots and torture.” He stated that he would return home at the appropriate time to join forces with the home front once again, because there is no going back in the struggle to emancipate the Igbo nation from political slavery.

Politics / Abia Crisis: Why We Sacked Ikpeazu — Abuja Court by Kingson56(m): 12:18pm On Jul 17, 2016 |
The Federal High Court yesterday said Justice Okon Abang ordered Abia State Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu’s sack because the judge found that he allegedly submitted false tax information to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The court said the case had nothing to do with forgery of tax documents. The court’s Chief Registrar, Emmanuel Gakko, said in a statement that there were two different cases against Ikpeazu. He said one of the cases was filed by Sir Friday Nwosu against Dr. Ikpeazu and Dr. Sampson Uche Ogah as defendants. The case was before Justice Ambrose Allagoa. In the second suit before Justice Abang, Dr. Ogah was the plaintiff while Dr. Ikpeazu and Sir Nwosu were the defendants. The court said the case before Justice Allagoa bothered on alleged forgery or falsification of tax certificate and receipts for 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014 by Dr Ikpeazu. In deciding the case, Justice Allagoa held that “a mere nebulous averment is not enough for the purpose of pleading the crime of forgery.” According to the judge, “forgery is a criminal offence and must be proved, which the plaintiff failed to do.” The statement added: “The court further held that by the affidavit of the Abia State Director of Taxes testifying that the documents are genuine, the court held that there was presumption of genuineness of the assessment and the certificate and/or receipts issued to Dr. Ikpeazu. “The court further held that the consequential reliefs have become unnecessary for the court’s consideration. “It should be noted that the court did not make any consequential orders with regard to the position of the governor other than the allegation of forgery.” The Chief Registrar said the case before Justice Abang had a different subject-matter, which is that Dr. Ikpeazu submitted form CF001 to INEC which were alleged to contain false information. “The court held that the information in Form CF.001 as shown by him (Ikpeazu) in the affidavit accompanied with other documents to INEC are false and has nothing to do with forgery. “The court, therefore, made consequential orders under the doctrine of ‘lis pendens’, which disallows any transfer of rights or interest in any subject matter that is being litigated upon during the pendency of litigation in respect of the said subject-matter. “The court accordingly declared Dr Ogah as the winner of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) primaries and should be issued with the Certificate of Return accordingly.” The Chief Registrar said the clarification became necessary in view of “misrepresentation of facts as published in some electronic and print media and comments by both legal practitioners and laymen on the correct facts of the cases involving the Abia State Governor and the judgment of Hon. Justice O. E. Abang and Hon. Justice A. L. Allagoa.”

Politics / WOW!! Impeach Buhari, Expect Turkish Resistance—apc Govs Warn Senate by Kingson56(m): 12:02pm On Jul 17, 2016 |
Obaseki promises 200,000 jobs in four years •APC flags-off Edo guber campaigns Some Nigerians are already pumped up by Friday’s quelling of a military coup in Turkey by armless civilians. State governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) vowed yesterday to give the Senate a similar treatment if it ever attempts to impeach President Muhammadu Buhari. Chairman of the APC Governors Forum and Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha sounded the note of warning at the flag off of the campaign of the party’s candidate in the September 10 governorship election in Edo State, Mr. Godwin Obaseki. Okorocha, speaking against the background of alleged threat by a few Senators to move against Buhari said the generality of Nigerians were solidly behind the President and would not tolerate any attempt by a few people to hound him out of office. He said that Nigerians would resist any attempt to impeach the President. Meanwhile, over two thousand members of the PDP in the state led by a veteran politician and one of the founding fathers of the PDP in the state, Chief Samson Esemuede openly defected to the APC yesterday, declaring their support for the candidate of the party, Mr. Obaseki. National chairman of the APC, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, who handed over to Obaseki and his running mate, Philip Shuaibu, the APC flag described Obaseki as a hardworking and focused young man “who will make us proud after Oshiomhole”. The Director General of the Obaseki Campaign Organization, Osarodion Ogie said Obaseki is “a good product for Edo people and that is why Edo people are behind him”. The flag-off ceremony was quite colourful as the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium venue of the exercise was filled to capacity while about twelve governors of the APC, led by the chairman of the Progressives Governor’s Forum and governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha were there. Okorocha said Buhari’s emergence marked the extinction of the Peoples Democratic Party in Nigeria. Okorocha pledged that the APC would always place a premium on the well being of the people of the state. The APC governorship candidate, Obaseki promised to create 200, 000 jobs and sustain the legacies of Governor Adams Oshiomhole. Besides agriculture, other sectors Obaseki promised to harness included entrepreneurship and development of Industries and Technical & Vocational Skills. Obaseki noted that the APC anchored its campaign on the establishment and furtherance of good governance through institutions, infrastructure, investments, enforcement of law and order, increased production capacity and socio-cultural development. On women and youth empowerment, Obaseki promised to provide access to Medium and Small Scale Enterprises financing for young entrepreneurs as well as focus on the development of the youths through investments in sports, arts and crafts. He said access to low interest rate financing for Women-in-Business would be improved upon adding that over 20,000 affordable modern shops would be developed across the state by renovating existing markets and developing new ones under Public-Private Partnerships (PPP). Obaseki promised to implement a pocket friendly tax regime to grow the tax base and noted that his administration would commit itself to a transparent management of tax payers resources at all times His words, “We state before you all today that we shall not fail even while setting these high standards. We ask that you challenge us to deliver the extra ordinary. Broaden your vision of the Edo State that you want and it will become the Edo State that we will build together. “I stand before you committed to ensuring that the great work that has commenced and successes recorded in our efforts to build an economically viable, enduring and formidable Edo state is not only achieved but sustained so that we can provide a guaranteed future for our children, empowerment for our women, happy retirement days for Pensioners, access to capital for our farmers, improved conditions of service for the Civil Service, modern markets for our traders, skills development for our artisans, finance for small and medium scale businesses and deeper involvement of the Traditional Institutions in our collective development agenda. “As Governor, I pledge to build an Edo State that has a strong and resilient economy; an economy that will provide jobs for our teeming youth and fulfill our social aspirations as a people. I will continue the infrastructure revolution and expand the urban renewal and housing efforts. I will focus on women and give them priority in education, health and entrepreneurial opportunities we will create. “Power, Housing, agriculture and agro processing; mining and extractive industries including petrochemicals; and information technology will form the bedrock on which Edo State would grow its economy and generate jobs and industries.” On his part, Governor Oshiomhole challenged the PDP governorship candidate, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu and former governor, Chief Lucky Igbinedion to a road walk on major streets of Benin City and see who will be pelted with stones by the people. Oshiomhole pointed at the various road projects executed by him, among other things. He said every infrastructure the PDP said was impossible to undertake in the state has been made possible by his administration. Oshiomhole asked Ize-Iyamu to account for the N1.7 billion tax-payers money that was paid for erosion control at the famous Teachers’ House and the N1.9billion spent to dualize Okada township road in Ovia North East Local which he said was completed on papers, but abandoned by the previous government. Also, a member of the APC has alleged that some members of the National Assembly were anti-democratic over their face-off with President Muhammadu Buhari, and especially the alleged move by the Senate to impeach him. According to Chief Livinus Okwara, any move to truncate the ongoing democratic governance in the country is a bad omen and must be condemned by well-meaning people across the country. He described President Buhari as a transparent and tactful leader, who is determined to make life more meaningful for the masses, and set the country on the path of greatness once again. He said members of the Senate, who are opposed to the leadership style of the President are self-serving, adding that, “They{ former governors}, who are now Senators, want to continue to enjoy immunity they enjoyed when they were governors in their respective states; that is why they are at loggerheads with the President.” He accused the law makers of personalizing their roles in the National Assembly by being quick to make laws that would suit their interests as against those that would favour the people they represent. Okwara, who is also the proprietor of Rimax Institute, Lagos, has, however advised his party’s leadership, including the former governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and Chairman of the party, Chief John Odigie- Oyegun to synergise and prevent the impeachment threats and other anti-democratic forces from distracting the President from working for the benefits of all.

Politics / BIAFRA BOMBSHELL!! APGA Drops Fresh Statement – If Only Govt Had Done This, by Kingson56(m): 6:16am On Jul 14, 2016 |
The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), on Tuesday, said that the ongoing agitation for secession of eastern Nigeria by Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) was caused by frustration over injustices in Nigeria. This was revealed by the national chairman of APGA, Victor Oye, who spoke with journalist at the NUJ Press Centre, Awka. Oye insisted that the agitation will end if the obvious imbalance and marginalization of Igbo people were properly dealt with. He said, “The Igbo man does not believe in destruction. They suffered so much during the Nigeria civil war and they have not recovered from effects of that war. They believe in the unity of Nigeria, but the inequitable distribution of amenities, which is not in their favour, is what is driving the agitation. Once they are properly recognized and given a sense of belonging in the country, the whole world will see that Igbo people love Nigeria. “If they are given good roads, jobs and treated fairly and equitably in the distribution of appointments, there would not be any agitation and this is certain. When the people drive on the dilapidated Onitsha – Enugu road, Oba – Nnewi – Okigwe road, Aba – Port Harcourt road, Owerri – Port Harcourt road, Enugu – Umuahia – Aba road which are all federal roads and watch the way appointments are being made in the country, naturally they should be agitated.” ALSO READ Asari Dokubo Release Shocking Statement About FG Finding Oil in Lagos State He dismissed insinuation that there is a rift between former governor of Anambra state, Peter Obi, and his successor, Willie Obiano. “Obiano and Obi are the same. It is the political turncoats that are making the situation look as if there is a rift between them. Obi laid a solid foundation for the development of the state and Obiano has continued to build the structures. As far as we are concerned, there is no rift between the two great sons of this state.” 1 Like

EFCC seals off fuel station linked to Fayose. As part of its ongoing prosecution of the war against corruption, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) was on Wednesday said to have sealed off a fuel station purportedly belonging to the Governor of Ekiti, Ayodele Fayose. The filling station, identified as ‘Chance Oil’ which is located at Lambe, Akute area of Ogun State, was said to have been sealed off by operatives of the commission for reasons yet unknown. This would not be the first time the governor will have a brush with the commission, especially regarding the sealing off of his purported properties and freezing his Zenith Bank account. Earlier this month, the commission had seized four duplexes on Victoria Island in Lagos State and one located at 44 Osun Crescent, Maitama, Abuja, purportedly belonging to the governor. While reacting to the incident, Fayose flayed the commission for always putting the cart before the horse, adding that the commission should have adequately verified it’s Information before acting. Advertisement Fayose, who spoke through his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, said the EFCC is acting in unbelievable manner by not adequately verifying it’s information before going after his boss. He said, “It is ridiculous to say such thing about a person that has been governor for two years. How would you say Governor Fayose has a filling station at Akute? “If he would have had a filling station, he would have had it along Lagos – Ibadan express road, at Lekki and other high brow areas and not Akute. Does he even have any link with Akute? “Governor Fayose would rather have something like NNPC mega station, which would have like at least 20 pumps. He has been a successful businessman before becoming governor. “When I hear some of these things, I just say are they really brainy. Last week, because Governor Fayose used a guest house, Brilla Bicaso, Gana Street, Abuja, they wanted to lock the place.” |

Politics / Nice One!!olam's New Feed Mill To Give West African Aquaculture A Big Boost by Kingson56(m): 6:28pm On Jul 13, 2016 |
Olam's New Feed Mill to Give West African Aquaculture a Big Boost!!! NIGERIA - Although aquaculture is a popular enterprise providing employment for many thousands of West Africans, a number of factors have limited its growth. These include the lack of the requisite technical skills among entrepreneurs, and the lack of access to capital. But by far the most important factor is the unavailability of good quality, moderately priced feed, writes Francis Ekow de Heer, for TheFishSite. Most small scale fish farmers use self compounded feed based on agricultural by-products, to save money. These include palm kernel cake, groundnut cake, millet or corn bran, wheat bran and soya bean meal. The larger fish farms use commercial, mostly imported extruded fish. Out of a total national fish demand of 2.7 million metric tonnes, Nigeria produces some 800,000 metric tonnes. The nation therefore spends 125 billion Naira annually on fish imports. Nigeria’s per capita fish consumption is 11kg, some distance away from the global average of 21kg. Aquaculture is believed to have better potential for bridging the supply gap. Oil spillages and piracy in the Delta Region, where most fishing vessels do business, are among the factors that have drastically reduced the viability of river and sea fishing. The Nigerian economy is facing challenges which have affected the fishing and other industries. The 45 per cent fall in the world price of crude oil, the nation’s major export revenue source, has necessitated the devaluation of the naira, and severe cuts in foreign exchange spending. Declining oil revenue sources have also led to restrictions on foreign exchange access for imported goods, including fish. It is reliably learnt, for example, that by the end of the first quarter of this year, permits had been issued for only 520,000 tonnes of fish this year. In March this year, the Association of Indigenous Seafood Stakeholders of Nigeria raised the alarm that a fish scarcity could occur in the near future. Ghana’s annual total consumption is over 1 million metric tonnes, half of which is sourced locally. The government spends $400 million on fish imports per year, and it is keen to promote aquaculture in order to cut this huge bill. Ghana is currently implementing an IMF loan package which has involved major spending cuts. The national currency has lost about 40 per cent of its value during the last year. |

AGRICULTUREused to be the mainstay of the Nigerian economy. But as oil revenue increased, successive governments out of lack of leadership vision ignored this economic multiplier until formal President Goodluck Jonathan made it a top priority of his government. Happily government’s agricultural programmes have recorded appreciable gains that can easily ensure self-sufficiency in food production and possibly economic stability in the face of dwindling oil price. Indeed, December last year was a month that clearly signposted the gains made by the Jonathan administration in the quest to boost food production and ensure that the journey towards self-sufficiency in agricultural (continue reading) www.facebook.com/developagriculture

Politics / HAHAHA Only Restructuring ‘ll Save Nigeria From Break-up — Ikokwu, Uko, Others by Kingson56(m): 8:48am On Jul 12, 2016 |
By Clifford Ndujihe Second Republic Politician, Chief Guy Ikokwu and founder of the Igbo Youth Movement, IYM, Evangelist Elliot Uko, have justified the ever increasing clamour for the restructuring of the country, saying it is the only measure that can save Nigeria from looming disintegration. Ikokwu, who is also a member of theIme obi(inner caucus of Ohanaeze Ndigbo) said the renewed call for the restructuring of the country “is a new reawakening for some parts of the country and people who did not see the need for restructuring of Nigeria. Unless we restructure the country we cannot achieve economic diversification and growth. Implementing the 2014 National Conference recommendations will enable each of the six zones of the country to tackle unemployment, insecurity, poor power supply and infrastructure. It will also engender healthy competition among the zones, which help Nigeria to achieve 12 per cent growth rate.” He continued: “If Nigeria will have the courage to implement the national conference resolutions giving political and legislative powers to the six geo political zones and allowing zones to move according to their pace with the centre not as powerful as it is now, things will be better. The question of states running to the Centre for bail out will not arise. Each zone will bite the much it can chew. Each Zone will determine the number of local Councils it can cope with. “Without restructuring, the country will continue on this perilous path that will lead to disintegration. With insecurity crises all over the country – Boko Haram in the North-East, Niger Delta militants in the South-South and Biafra struggles in the South-East, no good government can close its eyes to restructuring. The South as a bloc should wake up. If the oil had been in the North, no southerner will share in the ownership of the oil blocs.” On his part, Uko, who is also the deputy secretary of Igbo Leaders of Thought, ILT, said “it’s absolutely difficult to comprehend how any sensible person hopes to save Nigeria without restructuring. An early restructuring of Nigeria is the only viable option facing us today, the alternative is frightening. It is now impossible to continue the pretence. We have run into a cul de sac. Indeed, this view was shared by a host of leaders across the country, who attended the 17th IYM annual convention in Enugu, recently. In a communique issued after the the convention, the leaders said that ‘’the political, economic and social realities on ground today, have made it impossible for Nigeria to move forward without an early return to true fiscal federalism, in other words, a political restructuring along the lines of true federalism has become inevitable. The resolutions of the 2014 National Conference should serve as a road map to the adoption of a new constitution built on real federalism. The communique read in part: “Nigerians are surprised at determined effort by fellow Nigerians to continue the unhelpful pretence that all is well with the present structure of Nigeria. This pretence which only serves the interest of those who erroneously believe, that the 36 state structure created by the military, helps them hold down and dominate other regions, politically, remains the source of over 90 per cent of the agitations going on in the country today.” |

Foreign Affairs / Dallas Police Shooter Accused Of Sexual Harassment In Army(read) by Kingson56(m): 11:09pm On Jul 09, 2016 |
Micah Xavier Johnson, who authorities say fatally shot five officers in a ruthless ambush in downtown Dallas, was sent back to the U.S. by the Army in 2014 while serving in Afghanistan after being accused of sexual harassment by a female soldier, according to his then military lawyer. Lawyer Bradford Glendening told the Associated Press that Johnson was sent back with the recommendation that he be removed from the Army with an "other than honorable discharge." Glendening, who represented Johnson at the time, told the AP Friday that the recommendation was "highly unusual" since counseling is usually ordered before more drastic steps are taken. Glendening said Johnson, who served six years in the U.S. Army Reserve, was set to be removed from service in September 2014 because of the sexual harassment incident but instead received an honorable discharge in April 2015 for reasons the lawyer said were unclear. Johnson served one tour Afghanistan beginning in late 2013, according to the Army. He was a private first class with a specialty in carpentry and masonry. He was killed Thursday night by police using a explosive device delivered by a remote-controlled robot. During a long standoff with police, Johnson told negotiators that he was upset over recent police-involved shootings of blacks and wanted to kill white people, especially white police officers. Authorities who searched his home in the Dallas suburb of Mesquite found a personal journal of combat tactics, as well as bomb-making materials, ballistic vests, rifles and ammunition. |
