Romance / I Want My Son Back! – Doris Simeon by kmanning: 8:15am On Oct 27, 2013

Like a wounded lioness, star actress, Doris Simeon is roaring and dangerously charging at the same time. Reason: the Nollywood diva has been denied the tender care of her only child. And right now, she wants her son back at all cost!

A few months ago, after seven years of marriage that produced a boy, David, Doris Simeon and Daniel Adenimokan separated as husband and wife. While Daniel has been sighted with a popular actress in far
away United States, Doris remains in Nigeria where she continues to make herself relevant in the movie industry.

However, Doris claimed that she is yet to set eyes on her son since Daniel took him away on the pretence that he was visiting his grandmother several months back. According to Doris, contrary to the rumour making the round, she is yet to gain the custody of David, from her ex-hubby.

Speaking through her rep late last week, the delectable actress flatly denied that she had been reunited with her son. Hear her: “The public was recently fed with an untrue tale that I have reunited with my son, David, after my ex-hubby, Daniel Ademinokan, returned him. It was even alleged that the young David and myself attended church together last Sunday, October 20, 2013, which is untrue as I have been out of Nigeria since penultimate week.”

Insisting that she is being denied the custody of her son, Doris said: “It should be noted that I am yet to gain custody or reunite with my son after he was taken away by his father several months back. If and when David reunites with his mum, it wouldn’t be a thing to hide as both of us had always had a blossoming and amazing relationship that exists between true mothers and children.”

While running away from making her son a subject of public discourse, Doris emphasized: “David Ademinokan, the product of Doris Simeon and Daniel Ademinokan’s seven-year-old marriage has not spoken or seen her mum since he was whisked away by his dad on the pretence of visiting his grandmother several months back.

“There is no iota of truth in the tale that Daniel Ademinokan has returned the young and intelligent David, who would have no doubt missed the presence of his mother greatly, in the last 13 months.

“It would be a thing of joy and great tidings should David be returned to his mum for the undeniable motherly care he would have missed over the years.”

Doris Simeon, who returned to Nigeria from Dubai last Wednesday after an official engagement, is an award winning Yoruba and English actress. Born in Lagos, she started her acting career with a role in Papa Ajasco comedy series. She later acted in Nollywood films including Oloju Ede, Alakada, Ten Million Naira, Modupe Temi, Eti Keta and Omo Iya Kan, which she co-produced with her ex-husband.

In 2010, Doris starred as Da Grin’s girlfriend in Ghetto Dreamz, a biopic of the late music star

http://www.gist plaza.com/2013/10/igbo-youths-protest-over-stella-oduahs.html
Business activities were, Saturday, paralyzed at the Akanu-Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, although temporarily, as hundreds of Igbo youths, under the aegis of Igbo Progressive Union (IPU), embarked on a peaceful protest against the calls for the sack of Oduah over the controversial armoured cars.

The kinsmen of the embattled minister from Ogbaru local government area of Anambra State, led by High
Chief George Nwabueze, also exonerated her from any wrong doing in the purchase of the cars. Nwabueze said that the target of those calling for the head of Oduah was President Goodluck Jonathan whose second term ambition in 2015 they have vowed to stop by all means.

The protesting young men and women, who carried placards with different inscriptions, accused an unnamed personality of being behind the calls for the removal of the minister, insisting that the intention was to stop Oduah from going ahead with her transformation agenda in the aviation sector.

The group, who spoke through their leader, Emeka Agbo, a student of the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT), Enugu, said Igbo youths were prepared to go the whole hog in ensuring that their daughter was protected, expressing dismay that some highly placed individuals were determined to rubbish the achievements of the minister.

Politics / National Conference: Charles Novia Fires Harsh Words At Tinubu by kmanning: 1:35pm On Oct 24, 2013

Veteran film maker and writer, Charles Novia, has been all over social media than he has been when he had an active movie career. Novia has aimed strong words at APC Chieftain, Bola Ahmed Tinubu who just returned from a London hospital.

Tinubu according to Novia was initially advocating for a National Conference, but suddenly turned around antagonizing President Jonathan’s plan to convene a National Conference.
Charles Novia, said, “Bola Tinubu needs to go back to the hospital he had his operation done to see if they removed something from his memory box”

Read the words yourself:
I don't know about you but I think Senator Bola Tinubu needs to go back to the hospital he had his operation done to see if they remove something from his memory box. For years, he has been screaming for a National Conference and at various fora, he would ask for the re-structuring of Nigeria. Now, when President Jonathan has indicated plans to convene a National Conference, Tinubu is saying "I don't support it'. These politricians'

Does this man has a point here; is he making sense at all? or just blabbering?

Romance / “I Still Want To Marry Genevieve Nnaji” – D’banj by kmanning: 1:33pm On Oct 11, 2013

Nigerian pop star, Dapo Oyebanji, (D’banj), has not given up hope of getting married to Nollywood actress, Genevieve Nnaji. The ‘Entertainer’ crooner seems to still be in love with Genevieve and if he has his way, he will make her his wife.

The two of them were reported to be in a very serious relationship some years back when he featured the ‘Face of Range Rover’ model in his song, ‘Fall in Love’, where they exchanged real life kisses. But the relationship packed up like a badly arranged cards.

But now, D’banj believes he still has what it takes to marry her if she will give him the chance. This is what he said in a recent interview: “Apart from the fact that she (Genevieve Nnaji) is my friend, she has been a part of my success. There is no way you are going to tell my story that Genevieve’s name will not come up, because she featured in my biggest song of all time, ‘Fall in Love’.

I would love to have Genevieve as my wife. We never can tell what God plans for us in the future. I have studied her and I realize that anyone that has her as his woman has found himself a treasure. Just like the Bible says, any man who finds a wife finds a good thing.”

So sweet, and well said, D’banj. We wish you luck in your quest.

Entertainment / Plastic Surgery Attempt:model Severely Damages Her Face By Injecting Cooking Oil by kmanning: 4:20pm On Oct 07, 2013

A former Korean model addicted to plastic surgery injected cooking oil into her face when doctors refused to perform any more cosmetic operations on her.

Hang Mioku, now about 50 years old, has been left with a badly disfigured face following her desperate attempt to attain softer and smoother skin.

Mioku had her first plastic surgery when she was 28 years old, and soon became obsessed. She moved to Japan to pursue her career and underwent several more bouts of surgery, Mail Online reports.

However, after undergoing repeated operations to enhance her looks, doctors refused to provide her with any more silicone injections when her face became noticeably enlarged.

A desperate Mioku then injected an entire bottle of black market silicone into her face and finally decided to inject cooking oil, leaving her cheeks and forehead severely swollen and scarred.

Following the do-it-yourself beauty treatment, Mioku was left so disfigured that her own parents could not recognize her. When doctors analysed her, it was confirmed she was suffering from a psychological disorder.

Romance / How Sex Workers Take Over Lagos Banks At Nights. by kmanning: 11:20am On Oct 05, 2013

This story tells about how call girls use new generation banks in Lagos as a stand to execute the quick duties at night. They make use of nooks and every available space in the bank surrounding, security guard room, benches, e.t.c. to lodge so as to execute their nocturnal assignment. Continue reading...

"Hello handsome. My name is Ella – Emmanuela. I’ll give you a memorable night. If you can’t afford an all night (N15,000), we can have a ‘short time’ somewhere around. It’ll cost you much less (N2,500). Just pay the security man there (pointing to a bank opposite) and it’s as good as done,” a call girl said.

A bank? Yes. By 4pm on any business day, the doors of banks in Lagos State, like in every other part of the country, are shut to customers. But by 10pm, many of these banks play host to another set of customers.

Investigation reveals that the numerous commercial sex workers who throng the Allen Avenue-Opebi and GRA Ikeja business districts in Lagos, make use of bank premises to service their customers.

The Allen Avenue and Opebi axis is known as a hub for commercial sex workers in Lagos mainland. It is not strange to see scantily-dressed young women of all shapes and sizes parading both sides of the road at the Opebi Roundabout around 10pm every night.

During a visit to a popular club in Opebi, where many of these commercial sex workers station themselves, Saturday PUNCH had a chat with a 29 year old young man who confirmed that he had used the premises of a bank for ‘short time’ purpose.

The security man is the brain behind the deal. The young man's account

The young man says no matter how tired he is after closing for the day in the insurance company where he works, he likes to visit the clubs in the area.

He says, “I was going home after visiting some clubs in Opebi one Friday night and I was bored. While driving through Allen, I saw a girl that caught my fancy and I stopped to talk to her. I knew I could not take her home. So, I asked where we could do a ‘short time’ and she pointed to a bank.

“I did not understand what she meant. There was an ATM at the front of the bank, so I thought she meant that I had to withdraw money and pay her first. But before I could say anything, she said I should go and talk to the security man at the bank and give him N500. She told me the guard would watch over my car as well. After we were done, I gave the girl N1,500. That was a funny time because we even broke the security man’s bench and had to leave in a hurry before he noticed.”

That was indeed a funny story.

Politics / Independence Day Celebration:nigerian Government Abandons Eagle Square For Fear by kmanning: 7:40pm On Oct 01, 2013

For the third year in a row, President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration has failed to hold Independence Day events at Eagle Square, Abuja.

On October 1, 2010, the site became the scene of multiple car bomb explosions that claimed more than 20 lives and maimed many more during a ceremony to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Nigeria’s Independence from Britain. Since that bloody attack, the Jonathan administration has abandoned the use of Eagle Square. In effect, the government has cancelled any form of formal ceremony to mark the anniversary of a troubled, crises-racked country.

The 2010 bomb explosions took place a few meters away from the venue of the celebration which was attended by several African leaders, foreign diplomats, and other notable people. The guests were startled when two cars rigged with explosives went up in flames, killing passersby and some security agents.

A Nigerian insurgent group called the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) later claimed responsibility for the deadly attacks. The militant group had been waging a low-level insurgency against the Nigerian government and oil companies for much of the previous five years. The 2010 explosions marked the first time MEND struck at the heart of Nigerian power, aiming a clear blow at Mr. Jonathan who is running for re-election in 2015.

Prior to the bombs going off, the militants had issued warning messages via cell phone texts. “There is nothing worth celebrating after 50 years of failure,” their statement read. It continued, “For 50 years the people of the Niger Delta have had their land and resources stolen from them.” The group had warned further that some of their operatives working inside the government security services had planted “explosives devices in some cars near the venue of the events.”

Since then, Eagle Square has remained a ghost of itself. The parade and other activities to mark Independence Day have been permanently shifted to the Presidential Villa by President Jonathan.

A security source within the Presidency told reveals that the situation has worsened because of the threat posed by the extremist Islamic sect, Boko Haram. The group, which last week stormed a school in Yobe State and shot dead more than 40 students, has promised to bring Mr. Jonathan’s government to its knees.

Our correspondent reported that the Nigerian capital, Abuja, was unusually quiet today. “The streets have little traffic and few people as most residents seem to have stayed indoors for fear of possible terrorist strikes. Most of the city’s recreational centers have been deserted while business places like shopping malls remain scanty and desolate,” he said.

Entertainment / "I Can Pose Nude For A Mag 200%" - Afrocandy's Revelation by kmanning: 1:10pm On Sep 24, 2013

AfroCandy has said she is not into pornography, her movies are not porn but rather, adult movies.

Speaking in a recent interview, the Nigerian movie star and mother of two who is based in America recounts how her husband dumped her and her daughters, and she also spoke about her offer of a movie role to BBA finalist, Beverly Osu.

See excerpts from the interview:

Why did you go into pornographic movies?
I did not go into pornographic movies. I reiterate that I am not into pornography and it seems the press and Nigerians are really wishing I did. I started doing regular movies with some sort of nudity or adult content but they kept saying porn, and calling me a porn star. I have cleared the air several times in my interviews but I don’t think you guys get it all. Do you call Hollywood movies they show on HBO pornographic? Do you call movies like Basic Instinct, Monster Ball, Savages and so on pornographic? I guess it’s because I am a Nigerian, that’s why. Anyway, since you guys can’t get it, I will just do a hardcore pornography so you can all get off by back.

Can you pose nude for a magazine?
Yes, I can pose nude for a magazine 200%.

What are you trying to actually achieve with your porn movies?
OK, well, if you still call them porn movies, they are not. And I am trying achieve success, money, fame and a secured future for my daughters.

Your ex-husband said he came to Nigeria to marry a hooker. How do you feel about that?
Well, I wouldn't care about what a disgruntled ex-husband is going about saying. I am not a ‘hooker.’ I have not hooked up with his father, his brothers or anybody he knows before. Every allegation against me is false, merely based on assumptions and hearsay. I guess you should be asking me how I manage to single highhandedly raise the children he abandoned me with since 2007.

When he abandoned us, he went to Nigeria and sold the home I struggled to build for us. If he had any conscience, he should be praying for me, not trying to pull me down. As a matter of fact, he has not spent a dime on raising the children since 2007. Fact is, I have moved on and I’m focusing on my career and raising my kids. I guess it’s time to put this nonsense to a stop. And to you press, this is the last time I will entertain any questions that has to do with my ex or broken marriage. An ex is an ex, so please, leave it where it belongs. Thank you!

How do you feel that Beverly Osu has refused your offer of a role in your controversial movies?
Fact is, I wasn’t even serious about the so-called offer, I was just mocking her, and if you read my post, it was rather sarcastic. I didn't expect it to go viral and how could anybody even take that serious?

Religion / First Woman Bishop Appointed In Britain by kmanning: 5:14am On Sep 21, 2013

Pat Storey was appointed the first woman Bishop in Britain and Ireland, the Anglican Church of Ireland announced on Friday.

The married 53-year-old is to become the bishop of Meath and Kildare, in the Irish Midlands.

She said she was “both excited and daunted by this new adventure”. The Church of Ireland encompasses both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland, which is part of the United Kingdom.

The Church in Wales and Scotland have passed legislation allowing women bishops but have not yet appointed any, while the Church of England is expected to approve legislation soon in spite of strong opposition from traditionalists.

Storey, who has two children, grew up in Belfast, studied in Dublin and was until now a Rector in Londonderry, Northern Ireland.

Music/Radio / Nbc's Ban Of Wizkid And Phyton Is Appropriate. Even More Naija Songs Deserves It by kmanning: 9:12am On Sep 19, 2013

Recently the Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation came out with a list of NTBB songs (Not To Be Broadcast). Though such songs have been on the airwaves for months but I guess it’s better late than never. The songs are Wizkid’s ‘The Matter’ and Phyno’s ‘Man of the year’.

A few months back, I was driving in the same car with a Reverend Gentleman and we had one of those FM stations on the car radio that afternoon. Akon’s song with the chorus ‘ I wanna f**k you…f**k you out on the floor…’assaulted our ears. On radio? I had to join the shocked Reverend Father in making the sign of the cross even though I had switched to Pentecostalism years ago! Such was the shock
So, it was no surprise to the discerning ones amongst us when his new singles were laced with overtly raunchy suggestivism. Let us examine the lyrics of the banned single in question; ‘Back to the matter, open and close, touch your toes, oya baby..,’. Chai! May your children grow up in the ways of the Lord. I have nothing against the hard working Wizkid, in case some puerile minds begin to think in their usual template that ‘what’s Novia’s own?’ Or ‘He’s just jealous of Wizkid’s success’ which is a usual conclusion when critiques like these meant to correct an anomaly raise some dust.
Phyno is one interesting rap artiste I have been studying. He joins the league of rappers who rap in native lingo, following the footsteps of his artistic heralders, 2Shotz and Dat NIGGA Raw. Phyno understands the essence of showmanship and personal branding, what with his unique Mohawk hairstyle and his style of dressing.
I don’t understand Igbo very well but I have listened to the banned song ‘Man of the Year’ for controversial or lewd lyrics as well as his other songs. Here are some words I found:
Okereke okereke.. My guys no abaleke… N’ekperem ekpere Sika m fepu ka chekeleke Si mu kuwa k’elekera Na ezem k’ekelebe Ebughim otu mana m ga n’egbu ha ebelebe …something wey don enter don enter but if e nor gree enter, make you rub vaseline’
Wande Coal’s ‘KICK’ video should be banned off the national television space. Seriously, have you seen the ladies shaking their bums in that video?

Olamide is a great musical act who is making waves at present. We all have watched his gradual ascent for the past couple of years and he has succeeded in filling a void left open by the late Dagrin. I have my reservations about his latest video ‘Durosoke’ but that is not the video I’m recommending for non-broadcast. There’s one he calls ‘Stupid love’ which I believe promotes alcoholic inebriation; which I presume to be against the broadcasting rules.
In the video, Olamide in almost every cut is seen clutching a green bottle suggestively filled with either rum or brandy or some strong coloured spirits. He takes deliberate swigs from the bottle and even chants at a point in the song about feeling ‘high’. This video gets massive airplay on national stations. I think it should be yanked off.
