Visa Approved. Us Embassy in Abuja. 5th May, 7:45 am If I say only one person helped me... I lie.. I thankgod for Fairheart, we met sometime early this year and it was funny. I thank everyone, I have gleaned things from everyone.. I ThankGod Almighty. Most importantly, fast and pray.. Me : Good morning to you Madam Consular : Please pass me your documents. Consular: I see you'll be going to the University of Louisiana at Lafayette for a masters degree in Civil engineering. Me: Yes, madam Consular : How did you hear about this school? Me: I first learnt about this university in an online research paper that is on the production of biogas from the anaerobic degradation of food wastes. So I explored the program website, learnt about the professor and I added the school to my list and applied. Consular: Did you apply to any other schools. Me: Yes, I did. I applied to 2 other universities, nanely: old dominion university and the University of South Carolina. (Consular was quite while she typed) So I added, I received two admits, one from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and the other from Old dominion university, while I had one reject from the university of South Carolina. So I had 2 admits and 1 reject. Consular: What do you plan to do after graduation? Me: with this masters degree, I hope to apply for a position in academia at my Alma mater,; Chukwuemeka Odumegu Ojukwu university, where I currently work as a research assistant at the Civil Engineering department. I want to pass on the world class knowledge I'd be acquiring to the new generations of Engineers in Nigeria, and also it will help me in achieving my long term goals of liasing with professors in my Alma mater ,as well as professors in other universities here in Nigeria ,so as to help start similar researches here in Nigeria, just like what I will be working on which is on the production of biogas from the anaerobic degradation of food wastes. Consular: What is your highest degree ? Me : I have a bachelor's of Engineering degree certificate . Consular : When did you acquire it? Me : in 2017 Consular : what have you been doing since then? Me: After graduation in 2017, I went for the compulsory NYSc program and it ended late 2018. In 2019, I started preparing and I wrote the Standardized tests such as the Gre and TOEFL examinations. Currently, I work as a research assistant at the Civil Engineering department in my Alma mater, Chukwuemeka Odumegu Ojukwu university, were I assist with the preparation, writing, and review of journal articles and manuscripts, and so far we have carried out a research that is on the seasonal variation of the surface water quality of Obizi Stream. Consular: Is your program 3years ? Me: it's 2 years plus 1 year OPT.( infact I emphasized that it was optional.. So basically 2years,because that's what I filled on ds160 application) Consular : Have you traveled out of Nigeria before? Me: Yes, I traveled to India in 2016 ,to have a left robotic pyloplasty surgery, because I was suffering from a pelvic ureteric junction obstruction. Consular: do you have any relative in the USA? Me: yes, I have a distant relative. Consular : How will you be paying for the deficit? Me : In addition to the graduate assistantship I received that covers my full tuition, my mother will be paying the deficit.. ( She didn't even allow me to continue). She cut in.. Consular : Do you have the bank statements to show for the available funds? Me : yes, I do... Then I gave her the statements. Consular: The sum of $ dollars was deposited last week Me: I said yes, in addition to the money that was previously in the account... Consular: so that makes it $? Me : Yes, in addition to my mother's salary bank account in Naira bank statement and her pounds bank statement. Consular : What does your Mother do? Me: My mother is a medical radiographer at **** where she has been working for 17 years now, and currently holds the position of the manager of the radiography department. She took few minutes typing, she withheld my international passport ,served me the white slip on directions to pick my passport... She finally approvedy Visa. The I said God bless you Ma. 48 Likes 3 Shares |

Please suggestions needed. I was awarded a tuition waiver, with deficit $10,500. On my ds160 I filled my Aunt is my sponsor, additional shes based in the USA. Will this cause any problems for me? Are there people whose visa has been approved in the past with their sponsor residing in USA? I would have filled my mother, but her bank statement is not up to my deficit, but can I still present it that way during interview? |

The first interview. This are my visa transcripts Vo: Good morning. Me: Good morning sir. Vo: where are you going to? Me: the University of Louisiana at Lafayette to pursue my MS in Civil engineering with a concentration in environmental engineering. Why this university : I choose this university particularly because of an ongoing research at the university that deals with the production of biogas from the anaerobic degradation of food wastes ... I wanted to continue with what I had to say,but he cut in. Vo: what other schools did you apply to? Me : ODU and USC. Vo: why did you chose this school above ODU. Me: I choose the University because of its reputability and because the research at the university closely aligns with my research interest. Vo: what is your research interest? Me: the production of biogas from the anaerobic degradation of food wastes. Vo: are you married? Me: No. Vo: are you single Me: yes. Vo: do you have any children? Me: no Vo: are you employed? Me: No, but I have worked as a mathematics teacher. Vo : who is your sponsor? Me: My mother and 3 of my relatives. Vo: what does your mother do? Me : I told. Vo: I am sorry, I can't approved your visa My second visa interview They still gave me a 214b (lack of strong home ties) : no employment, no child, not married. I will have to choose a date for MAY and I will have to apply as employed . That's the only strong home tie I can work or should I still apply as unemployed? Some one said for fall admission I went too early. That I didn't obey the 120 day bracket ,that says I can only come for interview only within the 120 days bracket period to resumption. This were the only questions I was asked. They asked where are you going to, how many schools you applied to, how many admits and rejects, why did you choose this school, how did you hear about the school, are you single....then he said you do not qualify for visa at this time. My replies. Where are you going to? I am going to USA for my masters in civil engineering with a specialization in environmental engineering at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and also I will be work with Dr Daniel d gang on his research work that deals with the production of biogas from the anaerobic degradation of food wastes. How many schools did you apply to? I applied to 3: the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, old dominion university, and the university of South Carolina. How many admits and rejects. Old dominion university and the University of Louisiana at Lafayette both offered me admission ,and got a reject from the university of South Carolina. Why did you choose this school? I chose this school because I am interested in Dr Daniel d gang research that deals with the production of biogas from the anaerobic degradation of food wastes. The university has a research facility where the production of violas is been carried out by the use of food waste from the school cafeteria. How did you hear about the school? I heard about the school on usnews.com and after a Google extensive search. Are you single? Yes. There said you do not qualify for a visa at this time.. Koskos95: 2 Likes |

Legit, during my first interview I had no tuition waiver,so when the VO asked who my sponsor is, I said my Mother and three other of my relatives. In my second interview, I had a full tuition waiver, in the second interview the VO didn't even ask about the financial aspect. My sponsor is my Aunt, and my school is not in the same city as the city where she resides.. Legit215: |

GoodEvening. Please I need help regarding 214b reason for denial. I was delayed in November last year and February 2021 for 214b reason. Please how can I overturn this decision from the embassy in my next interview. How can I amend it? In my previous ds160 ,I filled that I have a relative in USA, and she would be paying for my trip. Also, I filled I was unemployed. I really thought the process was about sincerity. Please how can I go about filling a new ds160 considering all this? |

Simply, I was denied visa on February 2nd and my passport was given back to me. But when I logged into my Cgi portal, I noticed that it read "your passport is still with the USA embassy " Please do you know the reason? kastgeraldino: |

GoodDay. Please I need clarification about this. After my first Visa denial in November last year, I didn't see such on my Cgi portal, that " your passport is still with the USA embassy". But since Feb 2,2021 after my visa delay, I decided to log into my Cgi portal and saw "my passport is still with the USA embassy ". Maybe because I unknowingly didn't obey the 120days window to resumption this caused my visa not to be issued despite being approved. This is my thinking, I don't know sha. But please, what does it connote, because my passport was given back to me after interview ? |

Good evening. Please I need a suggestion. It only came to my notice recently that it isn't smart to present yourself to the VO as unemployed and that one shouldnt alter information on a previous ds160. Here's my case. In my very first ds 160. I chose that I am unemployed. Reason: I am unemployed but I have worked as a mathematics teacher before. I was denied visa during my first attempt at the Lagos embassy. My second ds160:When I filled not employed on my ds160 ,I wrote that I quit my job so as to focus on my Gre and TOEFL, but in my spare time I do some volunteering for my advisor. I have already scheduled an interview date but I can't appear at the embassy because it is more than 4months to resumption Please, I need a suggestion . I want to fill a fresh ds160. What can I fill or maintain in my thirds ds160, that won't serve as a red flag to the VO? Should I maintain what I filled in my second ds160! |

[quote author=prosper388 post=95840544] ”What does your mum do?” He wasn't convinced enough that she can pay for the funding. Notice that people without funding that said their parents are civil servants hardly convince the VO to issue them visas. So the main problem came from what your mum does. Next time I will say my aunts and uncle who work at Intel corporation in USA and legacy health care in the USA will be sponsoring me ( they work as process engineers and a psychiatric nurse) |
