Religion / Re: Why Do Pentecostals Believe That Catholic Church Is Not A Bible Believing Church by ladman(m): 10:31am On Oct 23, 2017

Jesus was baptized in a river, why not say it must be a river too

Some churches insist it must be a flowing river. I am only amazed that I have not heard anyone insist it must be river jordan. That would be epic.

Chaplain in war zones sometimes don't get water to baptize soldiers about to die!

The words 'Bible believing' takes so much importance in Christianity that we often forget it is not the first thing needed to be a Christian. Nowadays, the bible and the pastors/priests that interpret them have become more important than God.

Secondly, the catholic church is not sola scriptura (by scripture alone), she teaches that the sacred scripture work hand in hand with traditions which is also part of the revelation about Jesus passed down from the time of the Apostles.

Hence some of what catholics do is part of tradition because she does not derive the certainty of all revealed truths from the holy scriptures alone.

Can we stop bashing ourselves on the contents of the Bible?

Does it not baffle you all that the bible is open to different interpretations?

It is because it contains within itself many disagreements about particular issues and it should be expected since it was written by different people, translated by different people and compiled by different people.

However, the core points, despite contradictions, remain the greatness of YAHWEH, the teachings of Jesus and the goal of saving mankind.

Please note that the catholic church uses the Bible everyday, they do not worship Mary or any idol. The images play no role in their worship, though it works the same way we put pictures in our home and erect statues, to reverence, and honour.

However, some Catholics overdo things, and the church frown at mariolatry and bibliolatry. The catholic church continues to evolve but not as some would want on different issues.

In conclusion, a proper research on Protestant Christianity will reveal that ironically, some protestant churches stay away from the claim of 'bible believing' because some churches have elevated the bible above God.

A contemporary novel begs a heated moment.

Heated moments are great. Real life has such too but it shouldn't become sex scenes made out in words and seen in every chapter.

And... how do jehova witnesses laugh? wink

This is a good story. Your descriptions are fantastic. Dialogues are okay but self description of the girl come short. We know what the main character feels but what does she look like?

This is a nice story. Please don't spoilt it with erotic fiction that is common read here. It is a Nigerian story we know too well but are never tired of reading or telling.

Romance / How To Have A Good Relationship With An Unromantic Man by ladman(m): 11:59am On Sep 03, 2015
A friend once complained that her boyfriend did not call too often. He called once in two days.

I told her that the boyfriend was a good guy because I was calling mine, once in three or four days.To make it worse, I didn’t see it as a big deal and wouldn’t apologise for it.

I was an unromantic son of a…woman. But I loved her (and I still do).

So how can you have a good relationship with unromantic guys like me

CALL MORE EVEN IF HE DOES NOT

If your man does not call, the best thing that you can do is to call. He is already your man not some guy looking for a second date. It does not make you desperate (except if you call once every hour) or stupid, as your friends might say.

It is just being the good side to his bad game.

TELL HIM WHAT YOU WANT AND HOW YOU WANT IT

Just before you think otherwise, I’m not talking about sex positions.

Tell your man what you would like him to do in the romantic section. Most women assume men know what to do, which is not always true.

Most of us are not relationship smart and those who seem ‘smart’ spent a good part of their time learning new ways to hook up girls on the internet, or bad/ good ideas from their friends.

Do yourself a favour. Tell him what you want.

BE PATIENT AND WISE

Men are aggressive, some are even bullies and most of us put common sense above passions.

Understand that you are the beauty and he is the beast. If you must get the romantic part of him, you need to tame him with patience and wisdom.

Tell him what you want but don’t expect to get it immediately. Remind him about things in a jovial manner and no matter what you do, don’t play the nasty lady card. It only gets the man angry and puts the relationship at risk.

Some men can be rough like an uncut diamond but they turn out wonderfully romantic when their partners get them to open up.

What do you think?

And do you know how a play looks like? I doubt it. And did you see in the heading that it is a play? Stop acting dumb.
It is a script for a short film. You already commented on the TV/movies section by ur egoistic self and I have served you properly with words that will sooth your nerves.
You seem to know much but understand little.

it is gud to read a drama on nairaland. Criticism is part of the art, take it easy. I like ur story and felt it suited film rather than a stage play but u didnt properly specify that it was a film script. And the dialogues are not really dramatic. Good attempt though.

Foreign Affairs / Re: Condom Ad Controversy In Kenya by ladman(m): 5:18pm On Mar 23, 2013
However, there is a reality that many Kenyan women engage in extramarital affair and the ad was attempting to encourage safe sex among these women.
Foreign Affairs / Condom Ad Controversy In Kenya by ladman(m): 10:06pm On Mar 21, 2013
An ad about the use of condom has been put down by Kenya authorities because religious organizations complained that it encouraged infidelity among women.

The ad is about a woman discussing about her irresponsible husband and her extramarital affair with another woman. The other woman advised her to always use condom with her lover.

This did not go well with many Kenyans even though there is a research stating that 30% of married kenyan women are into extramarital affair.

I feel the ad was actually passing a necessary message.
